I stopped watching basketball for the first time since the Ammaker era. It was too depressing, and it started 2 years ago with the really bleh team that had Houstan and Diabate. I love what Howard did at Michigan as a player. This is now in the realm of abject failure. Worst team in the BIG, losing by 30 to Rutgers, fighting other coaches, his strength coach. It's completely insane at this point.
I miss old college football. Go win some games and stuff. The super league got voted down in soccer because people actually like rivalries? I don't watch the NFL because it feels sort of meh. The regional rivalries make CFB great. Just win the games as Michigan did this year. Four teams :/. I don't want to watch Michigan play the same team 3x.

Accurate. And the Covid year team was sitting at 8th in the Big Ten. That team, which had Teske and Simpson, wasn't as good as they could have been. I think he's had one great year, but he's coupled that with average to bad seasons every other year. Average may be generous. The proof is in the pudding.
There is a lot of that on this team. I think people rightfully point to the culture of low effort. It was really bad last year with Jett, and I don't think it has improved all that much this year. Most basketball coaches know how much effort makes a difference, taking pride in rebounding, keeping someone in front of you, help D. I think it's a major issue that Howard has been unable to get that out of his guys. It's the baseline.
My issue is actually the defensive effort. It's really annoying to watch Michigan's lack of effort on help defense, boxing out, getting on the floor etc. I know the talent is an issue, but they are also a pretty low effort team in terms of the nitty gritty details that all of my basketball coaches went wild over.

Michigan just won the national championship with a generational defense and went 40-3 over a three year period and are putting a ton of guys in the NFL. Lolz. But he got a higher four star may not be an upgrade

The culture isn't good, and I'm not seeing how it gets fixed under Howard. I'd look elsewhere. The Harbaugh to Campbell stuff was a miss, and I think it lacked perspective, but it's unfair to say this is the same thing when you look at the data.
If they gave him another year with a whole new staff, I'd sort of cosign, but I'd also say they should pull the plug mid-season if it was bad.
I don't share as much optimism as everyone else. I think Day figured out the defense with Knowles. They were salty. They were also a missed kick away from a National Title the previous year. I just think it's okay to respect the excellence of your rival and feel better about beating them when you do.
Hard to be concerned after the way things have gone but M also just lost an all time great coach. We'll see how things go. Just going to keep enjoying the title :)
I love Juwan as a player. As a coach, it hasn’t worked out. It’s best for M and Juwan to move along. I hope he finds a great fit elsewhere but cratering a top 10 program probably doesn’t deserve another year.

That said, I like some of the movement because it means teams cannot stockpile a bunch of 5 stars and talented QB's can give some teams hope. Overall, more movement is probably good, but it needs to be a little more contained than it is right now.

Kalen DeBoer, given his success at all stops was the slam dunk hire of this hiring season. He was the only candidate I'd have taken over Sherrone and the continuity offered by keeping most of this staff together. Minter has obviously been more effective as a coordinator, but it's not nothing that the team and Harbaugh are behind Moore, who could be that CEO type coach.
Anyway, if Harbaugh goes, I'll root for Moore and continuity because the whole staff was really damn good this year. The LB's got better, Clink has been great, DL under Elston has been awesome etc. Great staff.

On a rewatch, it wasn't as bad as my brain was telling me. But during the game, glad to know I wasn't the only one going insane. I appreciate a wild, fire all the offensive coaches, lolz.

They did hold M to four a carry in that quarter. M didn’t abandon the run, Washington adjusted and added some guys to the box. Now Michigan has to answer.
