Just because the plane has been waiting... paitently... in California for 6 weeks doesn't mean it's on standby to whisk away our next coach at the drop of a hat.
This sure was fun though:

Can Brian just give him like 50,000 mgopoints and we can call this a day?
|1 day 20 hours ago||That's not exactly my logic||
That's not exactly my logic here, but I do understand your point and agree that there are MUCH more important isses facing our University than football.
My concern is that Schlissel was hired to lead, and early on we have a Director who is making not just a few snarky emails but rather a littany of failures. The emails serve as damning evidence to a world when often many mistakes and miscues are covered up as mere "miscommunications."
Dave Brandon has now failed the University of Michigan as the leader of the Athletic Department. Sad but true. Schlissel's job as leader of the overall University is to make corrections to empower departments to succeed. It is fair to call his leadship skills into question if he, too, fails to empower the athletic department to succeed (by not removing Brandon).
And yes, I would feel this was regardless if it was the Athletic or Chemistry department that was being continuosly mismanaged.

Can someone please explain what exactly happened with WD, and why this incurred the wrath of the blogosphere? Apparently I missed this somehow...
|1 day 20 hours ago||If this is true, and||
If this is true, and President Schlissel continues to hesiate on action, I think it would be legitimate to begin calling for a new president as well.
Brian, is it incorrect to assume that the POTUM has the ability to access these emails/records that your FOIA requests could not? Or is everything truly "destroyed" for the case of plausible deniability?

I don't know about that. I've been waiting for Michigan Football to show up for at least three years now... Too late to call my credit card company?

I'm pretty sure the football coach has the authority to fire the president. Saw it on TV, must be true.

This is an awful idea. I agree with those regarding allowing discussions to happen organically. I certainly have no onterest in reading a pinned thread with 700+ replies. What's worse is that you are masking the real issue rather than fixing the root cause.
The sideboard is too short and needs to contain more threads. Threads get burried too fast because of its narrow limit before the topic of conversation has gone "cold." This leads to the creation of duplicates, which further exacerbates the issue of burying topics on the sideboard.... and the cycle continues. Add ten more threads to the list that appears on the board and see what that does. And yes I realize the sideboard has "toggle" buttons, but unfortunately they always seem buggy to me.

You really need to think about this +/- $1 Million not in the context of just how it costs us money to fire him early but rather what's it's costing us in ticket sales and more importantly alumni donations keeping him around.
I'm not advocating either way, just saying is all...

|20 weeks 3 days ago||I'm sure you mean well, and||
I'm sure you mean well, and probably on the whole are saying this beacuse legions of incoming freshman come in with goofy anecdotal stories from older siblings and insist on disagreeing with many of the Acadmeic Advisors or Academic Peer Advisors. I can see how that might be frustrating for you and your team. And while it's also possible that maybe you personally have a really great advisor (they do indeed exist), many of the advisors are frankly remarkedly unqualified and regularly dole out lousy advice. Almost none of them actually have a Michigan degree, nor know what it's like to be in some of the uber-competitive classes offered at a large university like Michigan. These are the same people who tell freshman to regularly turn down valuable AP credit and enroll in some of the worst classes on campus (Math 115, Chem 130, Bio 172, etc.), got Physics 125 canned in favor of 135, and did away with the Gen Chem 2 waiver (forcing many to take PChem). My premed advisor at LSA was a total moran, and I frequently encounter other premeds who have suffered due to awful advice from her.
Yes it can be said that you shouldn't believe everything you read on the net, but there are many success heavy-hitter alums who frequent this site and kindly offered wisdom on this thread. It sounds like the OP already realizes this, but to other future Freshman out there do talk to current students and alumni. Also great advice may also be had from the sophomores on your hall.

1) She's contantly behidn and crams the hardest chapters of material into the very last day of lecture. Other orgo profs don't do this.
2) She's a hypocrit (personal experience).
3) She favors students who try hard and come to her office to kiss ass. Much easier to score an A you did not actually earn with Kathy.
4) She regularly tests on material that's from a future chapter (i.e. problems on Ch10 should NOT be on the Ch7-9 exam).
5) She requires excessive evening "workshops" so she can cover the same material other profs do in their alotted three hours per week.
6) She wastes the last lecture of the year making an ABCs of chemistry nursery rhyme instead of using that time to better prepare the students for the final.
7) The manner she teaches much of the material involves skipping necessary steps that while may not serve a purpose in Chem 210 provide an important foundation for concepts in Chem 215
More, but I'm in a rush.
She can explain chemistry well, and for that she's highly overrated.

Consider your motivations for heading to Ross. This is controversial and may draw criticism from others on this board, but if your interest is something with business and not in high finance you might be served with a more focused undergrad (chemistry, computer sci, engineering, english and comm, etc) and then picking up and MBA later.
I'm on my second start-up and it's the skills I gain from my non-business classes that help me the most in entrepreneurship.
