Scrap the regular conference season. In those 8 weeks, have every team in the country enter a single-elimination tournament with 1 bye week each (2^7=128, so some byes for top 8?). When you get eliminated, you can start playing games with the other teams who have been eliminated on an ad-hoc basis. There's your playoff.

If we lose to Sparty I guess we always hear about it more than if we lose to Ohio since we live next to and with Sparty fans. That could be a contributing factor. Plus Sparty, being little brother, should never beat us ever. Ohio, OTOH, is a better opponent so a loss in that game every now and then would be understandable(usually!). |
