“The player development is the main thing I like (about Michigan),” Williams said. “You can see that they develop their players. They get them in the gym and they work them hard. And their hard work pays off.”

Me too. I was hoping to see Stybar in this tour, thought he would have shown something on the cobbles. Boom looks good, another former CX World Champion.

Bummer for Froome.

Green Zelalem FJ
Packwood Besler Brooks Yedlin
If everyone develops as planned, this is a good squad with youth/experience, creativity. Nearly the whole team will have played in top tier Euro leagues.

This is how I feel. On a pure talent level (not experience) Belgium is one of the top teams in the world, probably right there with Germany. We could have one this game and I'm proud of the team for playing like they did. I hate that we lost, hate it. Sucks we have to wait another four years.
I've been watching US Soccer for over 20 years and I think this was our best team. Definetly our most interesting sqad and coach. I just wish he would have put Green in earlier, oh well.

You're wrong. It's growing immensly. Seattle's attendance is one the highest in the world. New MLS teams are popping up almost every year because owners are making money.
I love the NHL, but it's just a matter of time before it gets overtaken by MLS.

I believer we can win.
Be organized, stay disciplined, Bradley be yourself, contain Hazard/Mertens.
Edit: no Beckerman, Cameron in a defensive midfield role.

I've been watching WCs and Euro's pretty closely since '98 and this one is favorite major tournament, so far.

I'm upvoting every post in this thread 'cause Merica. Screw Belgium. Screw waffles. Screw Leffe. Screw Eddy Merckx (actually very awesome). Peter Paul Ruebans is a bitch! Lemaitre was wrong.

They're backline seems to be playing well, but thier midfielders seem lost helping in defense. All they care about is pushing forward. This is what is so nice about a player like Beckerman because you know exactly where he is going to be.

Exactly. Besides the US, I'm really pulling for the Columbians to do well.

Chile could win this. They're looking good now. Could be one of the biggest upset in WC history.

Belgium is only good for beer, waffles, chocolate and Dr. Evil. We're good at way more stuff. We got this.

I don't think it's a major accomplishment to get out of the group stage when they have done it 3 out of the last 4 WCs. We're better than people think we are.

Columbia has been fantastic and now they are playing a Suarez-less Uraguay.
Given '94 debacle and subsequent program collapse (see 2 Escobars), this is a huge story that is getting very little attention.

Back in his ManU days you would see some nice crosses to Rooney, etc. I'd like to lay blame on a U.S. player for the result, but I think it was just a great play. I think we played very well overall and there were a few world class performances by our players.
Wasn't it Bo that said "a tie is like kissing your sister"? Pucker-up schwester!

I was thinking the same thing (not fit), but maybe it's also the climate which effects people differently. Maybe we are seeing why Roma let him go and Arsenal passed on him.
Agree on Johnson, I'm not sure what his contract looks like but I expect bigger clubs are taking notice.

It's not all on Bradly, I think Ronaldo should get some credit too. I hate his face, but he put that ball on a silver platter, it was beautiful.

I'd argue that we need to get better at embellishing injuries and fouls. It's a lame and unfortunate part of the game.

He had possession of the ball when he was on-sides, if the ball went back to him when he was on the line, in front of the defenders, he would have been off-sides.
It's confusing and I'm not sure I explained it very well.

Jones was a foul machine and seemed out of control at times, I think this hurt him at the club level as well. In the past several months he has played much better and we are finally understanding why Klinsman liked him so much.
Honestly, I think it might be something as simple as confidence and being very fit. He looks faster and his motor seems relentless.

France were my 'darkhorse' before Ribery went out. I probably should have stuck with them, good call on Benzema...he has really done well in Ribery's absense.
|5 weeks 21 hours ago||I think the most likely||
I think the most likely scenario is Portugal mails it in. They pretty much have been illiminated and I'm wondering if Ronaldo even plays the last game.
The U.S. NEEDS to play an incredible game just to tie Germany. I actually think Ghana is in a very good position and one could argue they have played as good as anyone in this group.
Germany will play hard until they go up 1 goal, they want to win the group and avoid Belgium. After they go up they will be satisfied with a one goal win or a tie.
My prediction - Germany goes up one by the 30th minute, they sub-out Ozil, Lahm, etc and the US ties the game late, Wondo. Ghana wins 2-0 vs Portugal.
We get through and face Belgium, Germany plays Russia.

"Physically uncomfortable for opponents" is a good description of American soccer over the past few World Cups. This was the game that made me a soccer fan:

I don't see how they get beat, home turf is huge and they are pretty stacked at every position.
That's really high for France given Ribery is out, probably a bit low for the Swiss and Italy.
I love Argentina's attackers, just sick, but their back line leaves a lot to be desired. They're due, so... I'm going with Argentina as my non-Brazil pick to win. I don't see a European team winning in SA in that climate.

I'd say UM is England. Lot's of talent, high expectations but very inconsistant.
Germany/OSU is a good comparison because both waste talent. Germany is supposed to be stacked but their last Euro and WC wins were '96 and '90 I think.
I like the US as Iowa too.

The full five seasons of The Wire is Amazon Prime so I've finally had a chance to watch the show. It's fantastic. Outside of Walter White, Bubbles and Omar are probably my favorite characters ever.

I don't want to say "who cares" about those guys because I really like both of them, but one of them decommitted and the other has taken us out of his top 3. I think we are in VERY good shape and have the option to focus our needs elsewhere, if needed.

There was a ND game in the mid/late nineties where ND was driving late and we stopped them like a foot short of a first down to end the game.
1996 - OSU ranked #2, Glenn said we sucked, we pounded them, Tim-B went off.
