Semi-related: everytime I look back at the 2004 rankings and see Leon Hart (OL) on the list, I always confuse him with Leon Hart (RB), aka Mike Hart.

In 2004, Chad Henne was the #3 (Rivals) and #4 (Scout) HS QB behind Rhett Bomar, Anthony Morelli, and Xavier Lee (Scout only). Looking back, I'm very glad Michigan landed the 3rd/4th best HS QB.

Also in that same year, Calvin Johnson was ranked "only" the #6 (Rivals) HS WR.

What I'm trying to say is this: Shane will be just fine.

I've attended Michigan football games where I've been surrounded by old rich alumni. Sure they'll buy tickets, but they hardly do more than sit there and consume oxygen. Many choose not to sing the Victors, let alone complete a simple 3-word cheer that I like to call Let's Go Blue.

On the other hand, they won't waste a second to critique the team's performance in-game. Keep in mind I'm not targeting all old rich alumni, just those who don't arrive with the spirit to cheer their team onto victory.

On gameday I plan to meet up with a bunch of alumni (graduated mid 2000s). If you do coordinate something - I don't know who else is qualified since you seem to know the area better than most, but I also understand you need at least 100 points to start a thread - then I'll tell my friends to descend upon your destination of choice.

That said, my friends and I will keep our eyes peeled for an original thread regarding a place to pre-game on January 3 - who wants to step up and create the thread? Like Denard and crew, we fans need to arrive hungry <cue "time to eat" arm crank motion>. Let's do this!

It happened on a dreary winter January day. I was waiting to talk with somebody at the Ross Academic Center, when I noticed a couple of athletes socializing by the front desk. One of the athletes approached me, and introduced himself: "Hi, my name is Denard." He did so without the slightest trace of Ron Burgundy (i.e., "I'm kind of a big deal").

This occurred a day or two after Hoke's hire, so Denard had every reason to look frustrated and confused, but instead appeared very upbeat. His easy-going nature is genuine - at one point I had stupidly questioned whether it was a facade.

He won me over that day. How many campus celebrities have approached you? Most of them would do the opposite: wait for you to take the initiative - and even then there's no guarantee that they acknowledge you.

tl;dr Denard Robinson has tremendous character.
