I'm finishing my MBA at William and Mary's Mason School of Business this spring. I'd say if you want to get into Ross, you'll need to crack 700 on the GMAT.
The one thing I'll say is that admissions are weird.
I got a 670 (only took it once). I didn't apply to Michigan for grad school. I applied to CU's Leeds, Case Western's Weatherhead, and W&M's Mason. Leed's was supposed to be my safety school, and it was the only one I didn't get into (getting nice scholarship packages to the two I got into).
I know people who got 780s and 790s who didn't get into HBS and people with mid-600s that got into Wharton. Having a clear goal: knowing what you want to do, preferably both function and industry (and experiene in at least one of them), will help you both in your school applications, and, more importantly, in your job search.
Practice your interview - don't bumble into it/wing it.
Own your work experience - Even if you hated it, be able to enumerate what you learned from it.
Have a plan - Know what you want to do. Research the program and how that program specifically will align with your goals. When they ask 'Why Ross/Why School X', be able to speak intelligently on the subject.

I know Seth didn't do the analysis, but he did make the graphs, and while the total is meaningful to some extent, the recruits/college is certainly more useful in determining if the schools in each conference are capable of fielding good/elite teams. He, infact realized this, at least, tangentially, showing the number of recruits per top two schools in each conference, but including them in the same graph makes the data cumbersome at best. It's not a parallel comparison, which is really the only justification for having them as part of the same graph in the first place.

Incredibly poor attempt at displaying visual information. Like, for serious. One, not labeling your axes is just bad. Like, really bad. Two, the fact that those conferences have different numbers of members, an average # of recruits per school in each conference would actually, you know, mean something (other than which conference is bigger). The separation of the two best schools in each could best be done as a separate graph so you could actually see it. This is mind-bogglingly basic stuff. How did Michigan give you a degree?

|3 years 25 weeks ago||Only if there some||
Only if there some significance to the order. The fact that Iowa is before or after Purdue has no bearing on how many recievers each team put up against Michigan, or how many DBs Michigan used to counter it.
|3 years 25 weeks ago||...And we can tell it's yours||
...And we can tell it's yours because it's off-center.
|3 years 25 weeks ago||Well, for starters: There||
Well, for starters:
There is no reason why this is a line graph. It implies a relevant relationship over time; that somehow Purdue being played right after MSU is relevant, and the # of Recievers/DBs between those two games somehow has relational relevance more significant than Ohio State vs Western Michigan. Each offense Michigan played had no relationship to any other offense. A scatter plot of Recievers vs DBs with each point representing a game would actually present some sort of coherant data. This? Not so much. Also, making conclusions off of the 'average personel' numbers is dubious, at best, since 1.) the data you're averaging is marginally significant to begin with, and (probably more importantly) 2.) taking an average throws the distribution of plays out. e.g. A team that only uses a 4-3 is going to look the same as a team that 50% of the time uses a nickel and 50% of the time runs a 4-4.
Another example is of poor use of your options graphically, is this:
While this graph has the relevant data hidden in it, it's a poor way of showing it. You're trying to make the point that halfway through the season, Gordon's production increased. You're trying to show the rate of change of this graph (number of tackles per game), so show it. While in this actual graph, it is appropriate to show as a line graph, the data you want shouldn't be. Ideally, this would be a histogram of tackles per game. More significantly, you could create a graph showing percentages of tackles per game. This would have the nice effect of controlling for opponents offensive style/tempo, and show who was really contributing the most, tackles-wise.
What you're really missing here, is how effective each defensive set was verses each offensive set. Was the defense lowering YPP when they added a nickelback against 3 WRs? How well did the offense do with 3-Wide against the 4-3 vs the nickel? This is data you have, and it would actually be interesting to see. This post, however, is not.

Yes, there may have been 30 linebackers, but there were probably, at most, 5 MLBs (or RTs, or any given position) that started the majority of games the seasons they played.
My point is how banal this is.
|3 years 28 weeks ago||These lists are pretty dumb.||
These lists are pretty dumb. In a ten year span, you have, probably 4 starters, tops, at any given position (and, in general, the standouts will start for 3-4 years, so that brings it down to about 3 players vieing for an 'All-1980s Michigan' position). So you're listing 4 players, out of ~4 starters.
Hurray! Pointless lists! Names!
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

|3 years 29 weeks ago||I've owned or played||
I've owned or played extensively every NCAA since 2006, except 2007. I gotta say, I really liked the improvements to zone blocking in NCAA... 10? Whichever one that was 'the new thing'. Run blocking in 12 was completely idiotic, though. Zone blocking with a medocre line routinely produced 30+ gains, where even with a 90+ line across the board would get you TFL on the reg with, say Off Tackle Power.
As much as Cook loves to whine about coverage being the issue, in particular, being 'too weak', he's bitching without knowledge of what to bitch about. Unless you're playing on Varisty, which... n00b... the issue with coverage is that even if a WR has 2 steps and you throw a perfect pass, most of the time, the ball will be dropped, assuming any contact within 3 seconds of the catch.
My real issue is with the differences between zone and man blocking. In (again, I'm pretty sure this is the one, they all seem to blur together at this point) 2010, they were at least balanced, and there were OL players who did zone blocking well, and those that did man blocking well, mostly varying on size vs. speed. In the most recent iteration, which I have only played the demo, and 2012 there seems to be a distinct advantage to zone running, regardless of OL talents.
In general, I think there is an ever so slight trend upward with the games. However, our expectations for "what obviously needs to be fixed" are rarely satisfied. The house rule we had in college was buying every other year... which was frequently disregarded because the flesh is weak, but I think it's a good policy. The additions this year, on paper, seem like a nice step forward, but when, the day the games comes out, a friend(who's pretty darn good) tells me he threw 6 picks in his first game... something is probably wrong.
p.s. Anyone remember those terrible articles in the Daily previewing the games via a playthrough between two of the Daily sports writers (whose names elude me). Yeah. Those were painful.

Aluminum doesn't 'rust'. You can oxidize aluminum, but it's very difficult, and requires a VERY high tempurature and a bunch of additional oxygen. Thermite is this reaction. Very very dangerous, but also very cool.
If you're sure the hood aluminum, it's possible
1.)the paint is breaking down, UV light breaks down polymers (which is why you put clear coat on it)
2.) the paint was applied poorly, say, after repair work, and never bonded properly with the hood
3.) It's not actually an aluminum hood, and it's rusting.
Regardless, it's fixable by taking the paint off, sanding, and putting on a new coat.
However, if you're concerned with rust, you should check the body of the car, particularly the exhaust, suspension, and subframe for other signs of rust. Remember, rust begets rust. If there's a little, it will spread.
EDIT: Ford 500s have steel OEM hoods. Sounds like rust.

Kids get away with murder and really don't have any consequences for their actions. Whining/laziness are rampant problems with todays youth. While the religious aspects are slightly more complicated, I wish we hadn't gotten away from the Calvinist work ethic. Hard work leads to happiness. Maybe we wouldn't have such a rampant depression problem in this country if people actually expected more than the bare minimum from our young people.

You think Vail is snobby, and you're recommending Aspen? Snowmass is a blast, but all of the Aspen resorts are rediculously expensive, and VERY douchey. Vail is the corperate retreat, Aspen is the celeb retreat.
I don't know really what you're whining about Vail for in terms of the mtn. Any kind of terrain you like, Vail has tops, other than very steep groomers, other than Blue Ox, Pepi's Face/International(which is now renamed 'Lindsey's'). Trees? Birdbath/Pumphouse, West Vail Trees, everything off 10, Mushroom Bowl Earl's Bowl past the gate, Pete's Stash... Bumps? Look Ma, Highline, Roger's, Skipper, Spruce face, below Lover's Leap, half the stuff off 37. Cliffs? East Vail/Mushroom, Miller's, Hollywood, Dragon's Teeth, South Rim, North Rim, the stuff below 17 in the trees. Chutes? Laundry, Smokies, Frontside, Hairbag, East Vail (if you can keep up with Seth Morrison, that's where he is everyday).
Most of the good stuff you won't find on a map, but just about run you name, I can find something equal to it or better at Vail, other than a few specific things, like Corbet's.

While Breck is a fun town, the mountain sucks. It has the nickname Blowin'Fridge for a reason. It's always really windy and cold. The people there are a bit more stoner burnout than the other resorts.
If you're staying in Breck, ABay is all of about 15 minutes away, and your pass will work there. Outside of Vail, it is probably my favorite resort owned/semi-owned by Vail Resorts. It also, in general, has the best/most snow. ABay is one of the only mountains in Colorado that isn't a 'resort' it's just a mountain, which, as someone who lives in, essentially, Disneyland, is a nice draw, but that's more personal preference. ABay is a locals mtn.
Vail will have a bit better snow than the Beav, but BC is generally quite a bit less crowded. While January isn't very busy, in general, the lack of terrain open means the crowd density is just as high or higher.
Currently, the frontside is all that's open in Vail, and we've been slowly closeing runs, now opening new ones, due to the total lack of snow. We're supposed to get a storm on Saturday, but as I said before, we need a full snow cycle to hit, not just a few inches.
As for 'Chasing Rabbits' trying to insult me for being a lift op, I'd like to point out that everyone here is talking about vacationing (and spending a hoard of money to do so) in the place I ride every single day of the week (and get paid to do it 4 of those days), and when the snow is shitty like this? I don't feel obligated to go. Will I spend forever here? Probably not, but my post-college sabbatical involves shredding everyday, and in the summers mtn biking and hiking everyday. I got to ride 120+ days last year during biggest snow year on record (524", plus another 4+ feet after we closed to the public).

I'm a lift op in Vail. In no way will this make you look like anything but a gaper. This won't make you 'cool', Rep your school during Apres, not on the mtn*.
It screams "Hi everyone! I ski, at most, 10 times a year, think I'm really awesome, and will probably be riding down with patrol in a toboggan by the end of the day." I know you put a lot of work into this, but we seriously have games about people who wear shit like this to help pass the time while we work. Put in on a little shelf in your house as a keepsake. Wear a real helmet when you are out on the slopes.
Also: The 'no snow' thing isn't changing anytime soon. We need a 30"+ snow cycle to even open the rest of our lifts, let alone the majority of the terrain.
*The one exception to this is if you're a park rat, you can get away with rocking a jersey over a hoodie, but if you suck, you'll look like even more of a douche (and even if you rip, you still kinda look like a douche).

I've spent the last year and a half having faith in GERG. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. RR has proven successful everywhere he's been. GERG's success has been occasional. Yes, he hasn't been helped by issues beyond his control (RIP 2ndary '10), and I know whoever is DC next year will have experienced players unless 'Defensive Apocolypse II:Ankle-Break Harder' happens. But Michigan DOES have the cash, unlike other programs, to buy a guy who's tried and true at DC.
Yes, who ever gets these players will fall into a English situation (though the raw talent level will be lower, just e-pinion). After today, and our failure to adjust our D with a novel concept of 'covering the RB', I just can't get behind the "he knows what he's doing, he's getting paid a lot of money to do it". I don't want to put the players through another coaching change, but I'm not going to be upset if we drop GERG. (RR, on the other hand: I would murder babies if he was fired.)

I actually wrote a paper on this for a class. A great location is where Artisan Bakery was, across from Campus Corner.
This would be a great in-between area from the South U and Main Street bars. In addition, it would get a HUGE amount of traffic during the football, hockey, and basketball seasons, as almost every student has to walk by this area to get to the athletic campus, and there is really no other bar near there (Quickie Burger doesn't count).
My friends and I have fantasized about it (we're fairly active homebrewers). I've even done some preliminary research into the funds needed and where to located a used 5-7 bbl system. The 'looking for investors' part got as far as me pussying out about asking my parents for money.
Oh, and FYI, the reason Leopold's went under was not from lack of business. They actually had a steadily increasing amount of business. They left Ann Arbor because their landlord had tripled their rent in the last 2 years, and there are a bunch of really lame laws in Michigan about selling your brew/liquor and they didn't feel like dealing with it anymore so they moved to CO so they could sell to a larger base.
Remember, they were famous for their Vodka and Gin (both being award winning), not so much their beer. While I certainly enjoyed their beer, it was little more than 'average' from a aficionado's standpoint. The best part of Leopold's was playing Sorry on Sunday nights with a couple of $2 pints...
Oh, in addition, Jolly Pumpkin Brewery (Dexter, MI) is opening a Tap House on Main Street right next to MDen that should be open in less than a month. MSU and OSU are both on our schedule all the time. OSU, and its .716% winning percentage and MSU's .569.
Indiana has a .405 record, Northwestern has a .415 record.
If you take out Penn State, because of a lack of data, you've got the best non-Michigan program always boosting that 'Winning % when playing against Michigan that year' category. Meanwhile, you have the worst schools repeatedly cycling through the other category. Systematic bias, yo.

Also, putting a TE out there is great on screens.

The ACC isn't in the 'crosshairs' because they don't put up 0 or 1 loss teams that can't seal the deal in BCS games. Other than the first 3 BCS NC games, the ACC hasn't been a contender. Hell, they haven't had 2 bids since 2001. The BigTen has fallen victim to it's success. We've been in more BCS bowls than any conference (19) but fall well short of a .500 record (.421).
The media likes to portray us as being undeserving of the bids we receive. The ACC isn't because it's obvious they can't compete at that level (they are 2 and 9, with a .182 record).

I generally split each week up into about 2-3 segments and work 3 specific recruits hard. If they have initial interest, I generally don't send them an offer until they've got 2/3 of the interest bar or more full. You can often get a commit with less total time.
Focus on a recruit and get them to commit, then move on to the next one. Splitting time is wasteful. It also opens the door for your opponent to nab that 5-star you really need. In the long run, it will also help you to establish pipelines in Texas, Florida, and California, no matter what school you're playing. Put special effort in getting lots of recruits from those states to establish it as a pipeline (pipelines give you a bonus to recruiting).
Also, NEVER do 'Find Pitch'. Waste of time. Generally Hard Sell works faster, and will increase interest much more.

Just for the record, I think Brodie's argument is kinda stupid.
However, a better point is this: How many IU students watch, say, every BCS bowl, and compare that to how many IU students watched the IU-OkSU game last year?
Bowl games provide students (i.e. what college athletics is for) a chance to cheer for their team, and provides them with a realistic chance of winning that game. A playoff system doesn't do that.
The bowl system is unique, in that it provides each bowl eligible school a chance for an extra game for it's students and players to cheer/fight for.
I'd rather the Pre-BCS system than a playoff.
God save the bowls.

You don't understand the bowl system. The 'integrity of the bowl system' isn't that every bowl matters to every other team, because it somehow has championship implications. The bowl system is important because it allows students (both fans and athletes) to get fired up about an extra game they get to play on a national level. The bowls (and college football in general) is about your team, your school, and your spirit.

Now, with that knowledge, we have two options, maintain the bowl traditions of the last 100+ years, or destroy them, so ESPN can make more money, knowing full well, that it will not solve any of the bitching problems.

|7 years 9 weeks ago||When you don't have||
When you don't have divisions, there's really no reason to have a championship. In the result two teams have identical records, record vs. = tie breaker, and if there's a 3 way tie, you run into the exact same problem you have this year: Deciding what two teams had the better season of the the three (and the 'problem' now is letting the BCS pick because both sides have laid claim to the chance to play for the Big12 championship). The 'what if' factor on TT keeping it closer with OU is high.
In theory, the Big12 could have 4 one loss teams, each to other Big 12 one loss teams(maybe 6, I haven't really looked at it). How then, would you set it up? At some point, you just need to pick.
Teams get screwed in DIA football. It's happened since forever. If you want to have a playoff, relegate yourself to FCS.

Aside from your inability to form coherent sentences, I'd like to ask for your reasoning behind thinking the two (historically) best teams in the BigTen would need to be in the same division.
No matter how it is divided, SOMEONE will play each other both in the regular season and in the championship game. It's how it works. Remember how last year Mizzou lost twice to the Sooners? When the Big 12 was formed the best two teams were kept in separate divisions (Nebraska and Texas). Also, if the BigTen were to be divided into divisions, how do you see All of the western most schools being lumped in with... PSU?

|7 years 10 weeks ago||Tressel had a True Senior QB||
Tressel had a True Senior QB and RB, two RS sophomore starting at WR, a 4th round TE, a offensive line consisting of 4 seniors and RS juniors and one RS sophomore.
Meyer at Florida returned 7 starters each on offense and defense going into 2005.
Les Miles had Addai as a Sr, Russell (who had just under 50% of the QB load as a freshman) as a So. the O-line lost... Wilkerson, and that's it.
Peterson at BSU returned the most players of any team in D1A football with 9 on each offense and defense (and he was the OC there for the last 5 years, so there wasn't much of a transition).
I already talked about CU.
I don't really have time to go into the rest of them, but my point is clear. |7 years 10 weeks ago||How would you divide the||
How would you divide the Big10 so that OSU and PSU were in different divisions?
The best division, imho would result in OSU and UofM in different divisions. Then schedule it so we always play each other, but earlier in the year. Then, generally, the season would close out with a B10CG with OSU and UofM.
In order to do that, you'd need to divide the conference into North and South. This could be done by eliminating a team in Indiana or Illinois, or by adding a team in a place like New York. So, say we add Syracuse, (team with tradition, already in a BCS conference) it would be a bit of a fluff team added to the BigTen North, balancing out all of the fluff in the BigTen South (Purdue, IU, NW)
I'd be much more interested in a BigTen CG if we just kicked out NW. It'd never happen, unless we could convince them to go the way of UChicago (which would never happen, unless they had at least a decade of never winning a BigTen game, and with Indiana just as terrible as they are, most of the time worse, it's just not feasible).
So under this Big10 + the Orange
BigTen North-BigTen South
Everyone would play each team in their division every year, as well as the same team in the other division each year, along with two rotating teams from the other division.
Hm... the more I look at this the more I like it. It would preserve all of our rivalries (hell, it'd let us play for the jug every year too). Still play OSU to close out the season most years (I mean, it generally is the BigTen Championship game each year anyway)... hmm...

Comparing this year to any of the above years is ridiculous. None of the above coaches inherited the talent deprived team RR did this year. The only one that comes close is Colorado's 2006 season. They lost less talent, but, to be fair, weren't really that high up to begin with.
In BCS conferences (except perhaps for the Big East/ACC), no matter matter how good of a coach you are, you can't put together a 8 or 9 win season without a team with a fair amount of talent. We just didn't have it. I'm not going to say RR put up an A performance, but to say it was a 'D' performance... That's just not fair.
Go through that list above and look at how many offensive starters each of those teams returned from the year before. THEN make your comparison.

I completely agree that I will be 'pins and needles.' Filled with the hope we could win, not afraid we'll lose. That was my whole point.
|7 years 15 weeks ago||Remember when you were||
Remember when you were applying to colleges? Did you ever think you were leaning to one place before even visiting some place else?... I mean, I didn't since I really only applied to UofM and at the nagging of my mother one other dinky school that I had no intention of going to so I would have 'options'. But that's beside the point. These are 17 and 18 year-olds. Hell, I'm 22, and I don't know what I want to do with my life.
If they are a little wishywashy, cut them some slack. If they like some place better, then they should go there, not feel obligated to go to anything but the ideal school for them.

What in the world have you seen at any point this year to think we can put up 31 points?

But hopefully less streaky.
Next year's O-Line will be leaps above this year's (granted, that's certianly not saying anything...).
Our CBs will be the highlight of the defense, and LBs will get better. The D-line won't take the immense drop that everyone is expecting.

"What worries me is the streak-- it's been a LOOOOOOOOOONG time since we've beat them, and they expect to crush us,"
Half of this statement is true...
I'm looking forward to this. This will be my first away game out of the state of Michigan.

I always find that statistics are hard to swallow and impossible to digest. The only one I can ever remember is that if all the people who go to sleep in church were laid end to end, they would be a lot more comfortable. - Mrs. Robert Taft.

Fred Jackson will retire in less than 5 years.
Mike Hart will coach here in an equal amount of time.
I love Fred Jackson, but having THE Michigan Man (of the last, say, 10 years) here coaching + THE greatest RB at MI all time (back here on the sideline, coaching), will be fantastic. I (almost, but not really) want Hart to leave the NFL now so we can take him sooner, and he can learn from FJ (more how to coach, not how to be an amazing RB).
He belongs here. I miss him. Can wait to see him back on the sidelines yelling at players more than anyone to get up and get going.
