How is the Big 12, who now have last year's big east champ in their conference, weaker than the big east? Oh they also added arguably the best non-auto bid conference team as well. |

I read about half way through the first book before I watched the series and then put it on the back burner. I think I'm going to start where I left off in the first book. Thanks for the suggestions! |

I traveled almost a thousand miles to see that game against Connecticut. It was my first game in almost two decades. That moment is the only clear image of that day in the stadium I have and I wouldn't have it any other way. It was a great game, but that moment was all that really mattered that day. |

how does one hate Arizona? I feel like it's an odd thing to muster up ill will towards a football team that is so irrelevant.. is it because of another sport, or perhaps the state is too hot for you? I have to say, I'm interested. |
| 1 year 27 weeks ago | great post |
I agree with what you said. This team has a lot of upside and will continue to get better. However, " I have not felt this confident about the future since 2006 at least."? I hope you meant January 2006, because the "future" past 2006 was the worst stretch of michigan football in about 50 years. If you would have omitted that line, there would have been no confusion and my mind would not have reeled at the thought. Keep up the good work though. I really like these posts. |

Anyone else notice that article is pretty much what everyone here has been discussing for months. I read the article and I didn't find one new insight from the 'opponents'. I'm probably overthinking this, but it seems like anyone who knows about michigan football could have posted this, then used 'opponents' in the title to try to get people to think this is what everyone else thought about us. Anyway, it was an ok article, but nothing great. |

Thought this comparison showed great college player vs great talent very well. There is no disputing that Jones was the better player in college, however Mouton has the athleticism that Jones could only wish to have. |
| 2 years 3 weeks ago | Negatory |
Stanzi might be the poor man's Ponder, but they are not on equal footing talent wise. I think Ponder has a much higher ceiling than Stanzi. Sure it was a risk to take Ponder so high, but Stanzi is actually a 5ish round pick. Ponder's talents would have never let him go beyond the second round. |

I know he was only lights out for 1 season, but I'd take Earl Thomas. Texas has had some great safeties in the Griffin, Huff, Jammer. Thomas was better than all of them and that's why he left to the pros after his r-soph season. |

| 2 years 37 weeks ago | Don't Agree |
I don't really agree with that. Boise St will have to play the wait and see game. They will have to wait and see if Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, or any 2 or more other surprise "establishment" teams go undefeated. I just don't they will get the nod if 2 big name teams go undefeated. -UMichGA |

I'm not saying that with their talent they aren't a legit top 10 team, but they lost just as much if not more than Alabama on the defensive side and Alabama brings back a hell of a lot more on offense. I think Oklahoma might be a questionable #2, but it can be argued. So Alabama should be at least #3. |

I did this when they weren't offering the #2 jersey for Adidas. I got a 'personalized' #2 (no name on the back) jersey in 2xl for Smith and Turner whom i'm big fans of, and when they graduate, hey, a Woodson jersey is always classy. -UMichGA |

I can't wait to see what this kid can do in the maize and blue. He's the recruit I'm most excited about in the 2010 class. Didn't think about coining him, Denard of the Defense, but thinking about it, that's a great comparison. -UMichGA |
| 2 years 50 weeks ago | Hate to say it, but |
If the guy is running cheese the whole game, why isn't it appropriate to run a cheese defense to stop him? I don't ever run that garbage, but if there's a guy running the ol' tennessee 4 minute drive offense, I don't see the problem in countering it with the same kind of crap. |

| 3 years 15 weeks ago | FSU Game |
I have to agree with Yost. This is just a personal timeline, but the first time I realized that UM was a slow defense was the '91 FSU game that we lost 51-31. I was about 10 and watched the game at the big house. I sat there stunned as our defense got shredded like they were some kind of scout team. That's the first time I ever remember thinking the defense was slow. |

| 3 years 19 weeks ago | Not going to happen |
I'm a Texas fan as well as a Michigan fan. I lived in Texas for almost half my life and I'm telling you, baring the truly, truly, unforeseen, Texas will not go to the Big10. Academics is the only thing that fits for Texas. All of Texas' rivals are in the Big12 South, except for Arkansas which is in the SEC and they haven't played in awhile because of that. Texas is the most lucrative football program in the nation. Texas will not leave to become even more profitable when they are already the most profitable. TV coverage may be another small improvement, but Texas recruits Texas, they don't need to have nationwide coverage like Michigan or Notre Dame does. Also last time I checked, they get enough exposure to make it into the BCS championship game. There is very minimal reason why Texas would even consider the Big10. I'd say about .01%. I think Texas is right up there with Florida or California when it comes to the probability they will not come to the Big10. -UMichGA |
| 3 years 19 weeks ago | Sigh |
After watching the game and having to live in SEC country, I know it won't matter how they won. Tomorrow everyone around me will talk about how the SEC is the greatest and Alabama 'whipping' up on Texas just proves their point. I hate living in SEC country. Seriously, anyone want to switch places? :) -UMichGA |
| 3 years 19 weeks ago | Arggh! |
I live on the border of Georgia and Tennessee. I am surrounded by SEC fans and I have to agree with jb504, they are the worst. It's one thing to have blinders for your team and rah rah rah, but in SEC country it doesn't matter if your team sucks, because you can always talk about SEC DOMINANCE and how if any undefeated team came to the SEC, they would immediately be a 3 loss team every year and never make it to the SEC championship. I know fans of teams can be real insufferable sometimes, but in the southeast United States it's the pure condescending of all things not SEC that gets to you. I can handle Ohio State fans going off the deep end. I can handle Tennessee fans going off the deep end, but what I can't stand is 7-6 Tennessee fans going off about their hated rival Alabama and how they will crush everyone (unless that team is in the SEC!) just because they won the SEC title. Nowhere else in america is there the sense of entitlement that comes with being in the SEC. In these states, if you win the SEC, you win the MNC. -UMichGA |
| 3 years 20 weeks ago | hmph |
I didn't know that the Boise St. defense even had a pulse going into this game, I guess they should be given more credit for only giving up 8 to Oregon, even though Oregon looked off in that game. TCU's offense was definitely lackluster, but I'd say I've always been impressed by their defense and this year is no different. They held the "#1 scoring offense" to what is essentially 10 points and the only offensive touchdown was scored after a long fake punt. Ah well, I guess I just wish that TCU would have done more offensively, but alas my hat tip goes to Boise St. -UMichGA |
| 3 years 20 weeks ago | if i remember right |
I believe The Space Emperor's first year punting was 2006. Michigan ranked 57th in net punting. If we can get to the top half of that category with Hagerup in his first year I think that would be a solid freshman campaign. -UMichGA |

RichRod is an offensive minded coach that is very innovative on that side of the ball, also he is known for finding diamonds in the rough when it comes to recruiting. | 3 years 29 weeks ago | UNC |
I live in ACC/SEC country so I've seen the Tar Heels play a few times this season on tv and actually went their game at bobby-dodd stadium (GA Tech). This team lost some offensive fire power last year in the draft, but make no mistake, that defense is nasty. Also, the offense is slowly coming around. UNC's offense is based on misdirection and presnap motion, two things I think UM's d would have lots of trouble with. I would have to agree that UNC is not a great matchup for our young offense and our wayward defense. |
| 3 years 37 weeks ago | Post Script |

Thanks for the info. I've been trying to keep tabs on Henne and see if he can become a consistent starter in the nfl and wish him the best. Also it was good to hear about White. I think he did really well in the combine and with enough practice can become a viable nfl qb. LOL at Ginn. How you described his route running reminded me of the '06 national championship game. When he get got off to a real quick start and then didn't show up (hurt ankle, I believe) the rest of the game. -UMichGA |

As big as football is in Ohio and as much as they are raised to hate Michigan, I too have always wondered that. Also I don't think it hurts that our 2 most recent Heisman trophy winners were from the state of OH. :) -UMichGA |

| 3 years 46 weeks ago | celtics |
I would have to say that with a healthy Garnett the Celtics go to the finals last year. The addition of Wallace and with all of the Big 3 back and healthy, I don't see this team being anything but tied with the Cavs as the best and most likely the number one in the east. -UMichGA |

Seems to be that the difference between texas and every other team that has been screwed by the bcs is that texas is actually the winner of the head to head against the team they got jumped by.. any other team cannot make the same claim, as far as i remember only other teams that played each other was michigan/osu and michigan lost.. though i do believe that michigan does have the bigger grip than oklahoma (yet oklahoma actually got their chance and jumped the team they lost to, ha), michigan lost by 3 in the 'shoe, where ou got beat by 10 on a neutral field.. i'm a huge fan of both michigan and texas for those that are wondering, but i still don't see how it seems logical to somoeone that texas has to sit and watch 2 teams they beat play for the big 12 title, one on a neutral field by 10 and another at home by 25.. even georgia last year couldn't say the same thing (they lost their tie breaker because they lost the head to head with tn), i'm tired of people trying to rationalize the fact that ou scoring 60 pts a game or beating cincinnati (big east champ? halolha) makes them the better team than the team they lost to by 10.. the bcs has screwed texas royally and it wasn't even for the championship game it was for the big 12 title which is a whole other problem.. anyway, this has probably already been said, but i needed to air my frustrations.. texas bend over its your turn to take it from the bcs.. -jm01 |

Calvin Johnson would destroy any high school team just by showing up.. and really, do you think trent, warren, or cissoko could cover him if all they did was start chuckin it up? I call it the Calvin Johnson Factor, Calvin Johnson - Reggie Ball = pure win (there is a flow chart somewhere that shows that reggie ball as somehow infiltrated the Lions organization and thus the Lions are not lavished with super bowl rings already) .. Calvin Johnson is like Braylon Edwards, but without the drops and I dont think any team in michigan could handle that.. just my opionion |

I'm not saying that Newsome not wanting to compete isn't the reason he decommited, but I don't see anywhere in that article where Newsome's father says thats the reason. "Kevin has officially opened up his recruitment and is going to reevaluate everything," said Newsome Sr. "Not that he doesn't care for Michigan; we still think it's a possibility."
"He is going to concentrate on his season at Hargrave then we'll begin Those are the only 2 quotes I see from his father and I don't see anywhere where he says Newsome doesn't like competititon, infact ESPN only eludes to that fact when they say: "Newsome may have also come to the realization that he would have legit competition to remain behind center during his four years in Ann Arbor." Either way, I think we land 1 more top 10 dual threat qb and I'd be happy with any combination of Beaver/Newsome/Forcier/Smith. -UMichGA

Someone posted somewhere that you should try Carlos Brown in the QB slot. I've been playin through dynasty mode and he's avgin almost 200 yds rushing a game, he's faster than minor and people focus on him less cause he's a QB, and yes his throwing kind of sucks.. but imo it's worth it..
