How is the Big 12, who now have last year's big east champ in their conference, weaker than the big east? Oh they also added arguably the best non-auto bid conference team as well.

you're probably thinking of bea's restaurant, it is pretty good, but kind of off the beat path.

I traveled almost a thousand miles to see that game against Connecticut.  It was my first game in almost two decades.  That moment is the only clear image of that day in the stadium I have and I wouldn't have it any other way.  It was a great game, but that moment was all that really mattered that day.

I agree with what you said.  This team has a lot of upside and will continue to get better.

However, " I have not felt this confident about the future since 2006 at least."?  I hope you meant January 2006, because the "future" past 2006 was the worst stretch of michigan football in about 50 years.  If you would have omitted that line, there would have been no confusion and my mind would not have reeled at the thought.

Anyone else notice that article is pretty much what everyone here has been discussing for months.  I read the article and I didn't find one new insight from the 'opponents'.  I'm probably overthinking this, but it seems like anyone who knows about michigan football could have posted this, then used 'opponents' in the title to try to get people to think this is what everyone else thought about us.  Anyway, it was an ok article, but nothing great.

Nice to know the pre-reqs for using "this kid".  I meet all three, so I'll try to fit it in more often.

Stanzi might be the poor man's Ponder, but they are not on equal footing talent wise.  I think Ponder has a much higher ceiling than Stanzi.  Sure it was a risk to take Ponder so high, but Stanzi is actually a 5ish round pick.  Ponder's talents would have never let him go beyond the second round.

I don't really agree with that.  Boise St will have to play the wait and see game.  They will have to wait and see if Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, or any 2 or more other surprise "establishment" teams go undefeated.  I just don't they will get the nod if 2 big name teams go undefeated.

This year I'd go with NCAA 11, with all the improvements, I've heard it's pretty much the better game.  So unless your  just wicked more into NFL than college ball I'd go with NCAA 11.

I had high hopes for Turner, but when I saw the end of the video of the first day of practice I cringed.  I hoped that it was his worst play of practice, and Hemingway's best. However, it looks like I probably  guessed wrong. Good luck to you JT.

I called the UConn ticket office a few days ago.  They said to me that my tickets would be shipped out August 16.  Also, if your interested, they were able to gander my section/row/seat when I asked (rep told me it was a guess because its just #s to them like 15 28 5-7, instead of something like Section 15 Row 28 Seats 5-7).  Hope this helps.

I can't wait to see what this kid can do in the maize and blue. He's the recruit I'm most excited about in the 2010 class. Didn't think about coining him, Denard of the Defense, but thinking about it, that's a great comparison.
Anyway, here's to hoping the best for him at Michigan.

I'm a Texas fan as well as a Michigan fan. I lived in Texas for almost half my life and I'm telling you, baring the truly, truly, unforeseen, Texas will not go to the Big10.

Academics is the only thing that fits for Texas. All of Texas' rivals are in the Big12 South, except for Arkansas which is in the SEC and they haven't played in awhile because of that. Texas is the most lucrative football program in the nation. Texas will not leave to become even more profitable when they are already the most profitable.

TV coverage may be another small improvement, but Texas recruits Texas, they don't need to have nationwide coverage like Michigan or Notre Dame does. Also last time I checked, they get enough exposure to make it into the BCS championship game. There is very minimal reason why Texas would even consider the Big10. I'd say about .01%.

I think Texas is right up there with Florida or California when it comes to the probability they will not come to the Big10.

I live on the border of Georgia and Tennessee. I am surrounded by SEC fans and I have to agree with jb504, they are the worst. It's one thing to have blinders for your team and rah rah rah, but in SEC country it doesn't matter if your team sucks, because you can always talk about SEC DOMINANCE and how if any undefeated team came to the SEC, they would immediately be a 3 loss team every year and never make it to the SEC championship.

I know fans of teams can be real insufferable sometimes, but in the southeast United States it's the pure condescending of all things not SEC that gets to you. I can handle Ohio State fans going off the deep end. I can handle Tennessee fans going off the deep end, but what I can't stand is 7-6 Tennessee fans going off about their hated rival Alabama and how they will crush everyone (unless that team is in the SEC!) just because they won the SEC title.

Nowhere else in america is there the sense of entitlement that comes with being in the SEC. In these states, if you win the SEC, you win the MNC.

I believe The Space Emperor's first year punting was 2006. Michigan ranked 57th in net punting. If we can get to the top half of that category with Hagerup in his first year I think that would be a solid freshman campaign.

Always a fan of any NFL team that has a Michigan Alum as a starter. It is a bad situation, but if Manningham can get his chance and shine then I hope he does.

Thanks for the info. I've been trying to keep tabs on Henne and see if he can become a consistent starter in the nfl and wish him the best.

Also it was good to hear about White. I think he did really well in the combine and with enough practice can become a viable nfl qb.

LOL at Ginn. How you described his route running reminded me of the '06 national championship game. When he get got off to a real quick start and then didn't show up (hurt ankle, I believe) the rest of the game.

As big as football is in Ohio and as much as they are raised to hate Michigan, I too have always wondered that. Besides our rich tradition, I think it helped that Bo was an assistant at OSU and was the head coach of Miami (OH). Also I don't think it hurts that our 2 most recent Heisman trophy winners were from the state of OH. :)

I would have to say that with a healthy Garnett the Celtics go to the finals last year. The addition of Wallace and with all of the Big 3 back and healthy, I don't see this team being anything but tied with the Cavs as the best and most likely the number one in the east.

I'd be rather interested in your reason for placing VA Tech in your most hated list. I love watching their defense play and I've never heard anything about Beamer being a bad coach or person.

Calvin Johnson would destroy any high school team just by showing up.. and really, do you think trent, warren, or cissoko could cover him if all they did was start chuckin it up? I call it the Calvin Johnson Factor, Calvin Johnson - Reggie Ball = pure win (there is a flow chart somewhere that shows that reggie ball as somehow infiltrated the Lions organization and thus the Lions are not lavished with super bowl rings already) ..

Calvin Johnson is like Braylon Edwards, but without the drops and I dont think any team in michigan could handle that..

it's the quote taken out of context, if you just read the quote with not knowing anything about the situation, that is what i got the chuckle out of..

I'm not saying that Newsome not wanting to compete isn't the reason he decommited, but I don't see anywhere in that article where Newsome's father says thats the reason.

"Kevin has officially opened up his recruitment and is going to reevaluate everything," said Newsome Sr. "Not that he doesn't care for Michigan; we still think it's a possibility."

"He is going to concentrate on his season at Hargrave then we'll begin
figuring his official visits," explained Newsome Sr. "Kevin is looking

Those are the only 2 quotes I see from his father and I don't see anywhere where he says Newsome doesn't like competititon, infact ESPN only eludes to that fact when they say:

"Newsome may have also come to the realization that he would have legit competition to remain behind center during his four years in Ann Arbor."

Either way, I think we land 1 more top 10 dual threat qb and I'd be happy with any combination of Beaver/Newsome/Forcier/Smith.

Someone posted somewhere that you should try Carlos Brown in the QB slot. I've been playin through dynasty mode and he's avgin almost 200 yds rushing a game, he's faster than minor and people focus on him less cause he's a QB, and yes his throwing kind of sucks.. but imo it's worth it..
