|2 years 26 weeks ago||A pattern of criminal acts and questionable behavior||
It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside knowing what is cooking at MSU. Dantonio is doing the taxpayers a favor by keeping watch over this football program, otherwise there would be overcrowded prisons.
|2 years 26 weeks ago||But its Little Brother||
But Little Brother sometimes needs to cheat to win. Tom Gholson is a model American and has no roid rage!
|2 years 26 weeks ago||Hilarious||
Dantonio deserves to be mocked all day long. Hypocrites find ways to make themselves look larger than their already large egos.
|2 years 26 weeks ago||Dantonio||
Dantonio will restate his position that it was a clean, hard hitting game and Tom Gholson is a victim of circumstance. Dantonio will reiterate there is nothing wrong with his players "borrowing" other peoples belongings. He will state his program does not teach is young victims of circumstance to practice unnecessary roughness. Sparty green kool-aid tastes great!
|2 years 26 weeks ago||Sparty is disgusting||
I agree with the some of the points made about the behavior being "coached" into the players. "Tom Gholson" should be suspended three games minimum (At least three incidents of intent to inflict injury). Rush should be suspended one game. The DC should be suspended one game for being honest about his effed up coaching philosophy. Dantonio should be suspended one game for being the idiot in charge of it all. I effing hate them......but we cannot reduce ourselves to their level though. It is not the Michigan way. I do know Mr. Lewan will see "Tom Gholson" on the football field again

I believe one of the kickers will emerge next year. Hagerup will just become Zoltan 2.0 if he keeps banging 72 yarders! I think we can get one of the last two games, if we don't turn the ball over. Good times for us Michigan fans! I would prefer to beat the suckeyes!
|3 years 22 weeks ago||Still will be worrisome||
Linebacker play next year could be the biggest weakness of theentire Michigan team next year. I was hoping Jake Ryan would step up and stand out, but it seems he is destined for a DE and probably a year away from getting in the two deep. Look out for Furman....fast and athletic!
|3 years 23 weeks ago||Inferiority complex||

|3 years 24 weeks ago||I am sorry for the negativity||
We will not win another game this year. Our defensive coaches don't know what they are doing. Instead of getting all cute with a scheme the players and knowledgeable football fans do not understand fully, they could play man to man and maybe have more success. We don't have experience, but we do have athleticism. Illinois has a defense that will knock Denard Robinson out of the game in the first half and this will be a blowout in front of the home crowd to see. Just keeping it real.....
The point spread will make some people with balls very rich on Saturday.
Go Blue! (I would still love to see Michigan pound them to dust!)
Sorry these comments hurt, but I have not been drinking the Michigan Kool-aid this year.
|3 years 25 weeks ago||Snake Oil||
I bet all the coaches bring a little of RR snake oil with them on their recruiting trips!!!
|3 years 25 weeks ago||Mouton||
Cut them some slack! Mouton has a bit of a lower leg injury. He is not 100%. Did you notice he has a wrap on his lower leg? A mouton not 100% is better than any option off the bench. I think the bye week will do wonders to heal a banged up team.
|3 years 25 weeks ago||Hey Magnus||
I guess this answers part of the question I asked you a couple weeks ago about the young ones developing. I don't see anyone being afraid of Ray Vinopal's bone crushing tackles. However, maybe he just has enough instinct and smarts to break up some plays and not let a TE or WR take it to the house.
|3 years 25 weeks ago||Maybe an Improvement||
I like this move if it gets Cam Gordon closer to the LOI and he actually wraps up when he tackles. It will not do any good if he continues to just throw his shoulder in a tackle and try to knock the guy out. The guy he tries to tackle bounces backward, stays on his feet and keeps going. Cam Gordon needs to drive through his tackles! I guess its like Rich Rod said, the team has fundamental problems because they are all FRESHMEN! However, haven't they played football before they came to Michigan?????
As far as Ray Vinopal at Deep safety, I have no idea....seems like a smart, small player.
|3 years 26 weeks ago||Thank you!||
I think that post was a five star! We have youth issues on defense. Some people on this blog are too critical of anything. I get sick and tired of seeing people making childish remarks about grammar and many other things. Perhaps they should go elsewhere where they can be critical of each other.
I love Michigan and can't stand those who are on their own team and not on THE TEAM!
|3 years 27 weeks ago||Match up well?||
For some reason, I feel better about this game than l did about Sparty. We did match up well last year against Iowa (except defending their tight end). I think it will be close. If we win the turnover battle, Michigan will be in this game.
I will be at this game and Michigan has NEVER lost when I have attended!
|3 years 28 weeks ago||I feel good about this game||
Home field advantage with a servicable Mike Shaw and Denard's bruised knee having one more week of healing (minus the bumps on Saturday) have me thinking a win over Sparty! The defense will have the new Big House crowd behind them and play much better than last week.
|3 years 28 weeks ago||Can we have more threads on this?||
Couldn't help myself.......although here is a point to ponder. I hate Sparty. I wish we had a mascot that could go over and punch him in the mouth. I loved seeing Brutus get a beatdown by the Ohio Bobcat. We need a Wolverine mascot like that! Go Blue
|3 years 28 weeks ago||Does Greg Jones run a 4.3?||
If he cannot, then we score a lot of points. Run the numbers all you want. Defenses are going to say they are going to do this or that to stop him. The problem is the 10 other players on offense just seem to get in the defenders way. The TEAM is blocking well. The Rodriguez Revenge Tour is on their sixth stop! Go Blue!
|3 years 28 weeks ago||Cheers!||
Nice Chuck Norris reference! That made my day!
|3 years 28 weeks ago||Prep for Denard||
No way a scout team can simulate game speed of Robinson. I love the way he sucks up safeties and hits Roundtree in the slot for an easy TD or sprints for 70 yd. TDs. Which poison does Sparty want to drink?

I hope that Japanese schoolgirl is of legal age....
Maybe over time, our defense will mature like that Japanese schoolgirl. At a later date, we will see the fruits of some good recruiting and development. With GERG's new hair gel, he will have it done by next week. Go Blue!!!!!
|3 years 30 weeks ago||Good Analysis||
I could not agree more with the last bullet point (or arrow point to be exact). We need to shoot a line backer from the interior into the gap when reading the run. This can do two things:
1) Martin gets double teamed all the time. The O-Line will be thinking of trying to somehow to contain the linebacker shooting the gap. A miracle might happen and the linebacker shoots up the right gap and makes a tackle for a two yard loss or the linebacker at least delays the execution of the play and help arrives minimizing the running back falling forward for one or two yards. The latter most likely applies in our defense, but a different element is needed to our scheme.
2) If your shooting guys from every gap at random, the offense will adjust and start looking for different zone blitzes. However, it gets them thinking and reacting to what our defense is doing. It seems our defense is always reacting to the offenses. We just might be very inept on defense, I hope not.
|3 years 32 weeks ago||Too close||
Awesome game! We should have put them away in the 3rd. 500+ yards of offense from DR against Notre Dame and he deserves all the Heisman talk because there is no player out there that is as explosive as he is. Let them all come! Shoelace is RR's guardian angel, and will end up saving his job.
|3 years 32 weeks ago||Rolling Notre Dame||
Rain or shine, the Michigan Wolverines led by Rich Rodriguez will blow out Notre Dame. I believe Notre Dame will have trouble getting the ball downfield when their QB is flat on his back. This team is much more mature than last year and it showed last week against UConn. I would like to quote Tony Horton from P90X before his famous plyo workout, "Get ready, cause its coming."
This is the Rich Rod revenge tour and even though we beat the Irish last year, it is always good manners to knock your rival on his a$$!
|3 years 32 weeks ago||Kirk is just OK||
He isn't that great of an analyst. His opinions are pretty blah and not very profound. Bring on Musberger!
|3 years 32 weeks ago||Ouch!||
I do wish him the best recovery, but look what losing Molk did to our offense last year. I do wish the new starter good luck against Martin! I think Mark May may have been right when he said Michigan is gonna roll against Notre Dame. The comment may have been directed at Lou Holtz. Those two! Its like watching 6 year old kids fight!
|3 years 33 weeks ago||Good news!||
I like the statistics! I am looking for a few forced mistakes by UM's quicker than expected defense and UM will get a 34-17 win.
I like Edsall's little Greg Lloyd roster intrigue! Unexpected and cute, but not enough!
|3 years 33 weeks ago||2 Reasons||
1) Reason: The above thread. He can stretch the field vertically.
2) Reason: This may surprise some. He is very physical for a smurf. Damn good blocker and would put Hefty smurf on his a** on a running play.
|3 years 34 weeks ago||DG now vs. then||
You can already tell how much he has been Barwis-ized. He looks so much bigger already since that picture was taken. I don't know how many pounds he has gained, but impressive improvement for just a 1/2 year.
By the way, I was prowling the UConn blog and came across a poll. I want to share the results with everyone. The question was which game was most important to win. 55% of the pollers said Mich. was more important. Mich. was picked over WV, Pitt., and someone else (who cares). I believe it is the most important game for UConn to win for two reasons. First, Michigan is the first game on the schedule. Every team wants to win the first game. Second, a win over Michigan still means something even though we have had two bad years of late.
UConn better get ready, because it is coming. The tone Rodriguez has carried this year is completely different in terms of describing his football team. I think he knows something we don't. A few breaks and we could very well have a 10-2 mark this year and all the trolls can go back and to hiding under their bridges.
|3 years 36 weeks ago||Sounds good||
It sounds like this team has a bunch of salty dogs ready to kick some tail. Look out, its coming. UConn is going to be roadkill from this pack of hungry Wolverines! Go Blue!
|3 years 36 weeks ago||Happiness||
When people tell me they are happy with the state of Michigan Football, my ass begins to twitch!
|3 years 36 weeks ago||Denver Broncos||
I would like to see our O-Line so effective that it does not matter who we put in at running back. The Denver Broncos were very effective at having an O-Line that would dominate the line of scrimmage so you could drive a mac truck through the hole. They could put just about anybody at running back and have success. Substitute the mac truck for our three star recruit running backs. Please, may we have some more of that zone left run for 7 yards? Go Blue!
|3 years 43 weeks ago||The QB who takes care of the ball||
Tate = Better passer
Denard = Better runner
Which ever one turns the ball over less should start, turnovers are the reason we lost so many games last year. We were competitive in almost every game with the exception of Penn State. Improved ball security will REALLY help our record. Both QB's will be used often this year, more so than last year.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Lies, lies and more lies||
Everyone please remember he has spent many of these past years living near Hollywood. Football coaches like him are great salesmen for recruits and he is also a great actor. How about an Oscar trophy instead of the National Championship trophy???? He is a rat that jumped ship before it sank.
I am running out of tissues for my embattled RR and DD. I shall drink an Ale for you guys tonight!
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Secondary||
How bout RR and Co. cherry picking a nice upper classman to replace Dorsey? I might be able to save my last box of tissues after that debacle. "Once more unto the recruitment breach, dear friends!"
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Ridiculous||
This is a very sad day. RR has a right to be mad as hell. I have personally called David Brandon's office to ask what the deal is. No call back. We lost a superstar player who could have been a lock down corner and now he is gone. It seems the AD office and admissions are committed to seeing RR fail. We cannot compete for National Championships if the politics of Michigan are going to infringe on the ability to get the best athletes. This one did do the work to try to qualify and has. Dorsey could have been a little bit better academically in his earlier high school years, but he did qualify. I feel awful for this kid.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||#1 Jersey away||
When we have a receiver that is worthy of the #1 jersey, who will stretch the field and draw two sets of eyes, the run game will be that much better and so will the offense. Great data! I would love to see our defense analysis as suggested in a previous comment.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Remorse||
I posted on the previous thread on this. I feel so bad for this kid. First, the Freep does a hackjob and now political red tape in admissions. Everyone deserves a second chance and also a chance to prove themselves. This is HIS dream. Shame on admissions for doing this to him. He was only the highest ranked recruit for the entire Big Ten by some authorities.
|3 years 45 weeks ago||Remorse||
I feel very bad for this kid. He is trying to achieve his dream of playing football on a big time stage and it seems he is getting trampled on. First, he gets a hackjob from the Freep and now this debacle. I really hope the admissionsoffice is not being political and taking away Rich Rod's best recruit for the entire Big Ten to help the "Fire Rich Rod" regime. Everybody deserves a second chance, let this kid prove himself.
|3 years 48 weeks ago||MSU recruiting him||
With a name like Justice Hayes, I am surprised MSU is recruiting him!
|3 years 48 weeks ago||310?||
That is a lot different than the 263 lbs. that was reported on signing day. He will lose some of that getting into camp and being worked by Barwis. Hopefully, he is a true NT and has become very strong with the added weight. He will need that strength if he wants to see the field this year. I don't think most NTs coming out of high school have the strength and development to make an impact at the NT position in the Big Ten.
|3 years 48 weeks ago||Great Analysis||
Very good analysis! Is there anyway to develop mathematical relationship between having a kicker that can make a high percentage of field goals from 40-50 yards, and going for it on fourth down under the circumstances stated above?
It is always beneficial on 4th and 2 to have the ability to run Mike Hart behind Jake Long for 3 yards. As a coach, that would make it a no brainer. Go Blue!
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Kool Aid Drinkers||
How did a kool-aid drinking MSU fan get enough points to post something like that? Magnus is going to go ape-sh** when he reads that Free Press Special.
|3 years 51 weeks ago||Gholston||
I believe he was on something at Ohio State and managed to not get caught. In the NFL, he has made no impact because he has stopped using them and has made no impact on the team he plays for. It is speculative, but for someone who was unblockable in college and can barely stay on a NFL team now, sounds fishy.
Jake Long....the real deal! It makes me sad to see Gholston get the only sack on him the entire year. Makes you wonder if many other Buckeye players blood dope just for the one game against Michigan to play at the highest level possible for just that one game. Tressel is a weasel and I would not put it past them. Check their inside groins for needle marks.
|4 years 4 days ago||Depends||
If Will Cambell draws the double team every play, it opens up RVB, Roh, and Mike Martin to really break out because they play like Barwis coaches; BEASTLY!
|4 years 4 days ago||Bummer but....||
He could still be the next "Suh", but just at UM. Hope he reconsiders, but the high school coach may be feeding him the "kool-aid". Rich Rod and Co. will get some other talented DT to come play at Ann Arbor, not worried. Go Blue!
|4 years 5 days ago||Bravo||
There are definitely some that think they are above others in this very busy blog. I think your thoughts are genuine and you will be discounted because of your opinion. The elitists that call themselves Michigan fans are very quick to dismiss and put down others in this website. Why do you think our football coach is having trouble keeping the ship afloat? Two words: Michigan Elitists!
|4 years 5 days ago||Spring game||
The players looked slightly bigger to me, which is a good sign. The speed of Robinson at QB is very similiar to Pat White, no wonder RR made that analogy. Still a lot of work to do on the Defense. Hard to tell with Ones vs. Twos, very big difference in talent level between the groups. I really hope Tate takes being a number two QB like a man because Robinson has really closed the gap with his improved reads and passing.
If the team can remain healthy and not have crippling injuries at key positions this team can win 9 games this coming year. Go Blue!
|4 years 1 week ago||Fantastic News!||
I am very relieved to hear about Vlad the "Impaler", he is going to be a star if he stays healthy. Making receivers keep their head on a swivel with him back there can make a difference. I wouldn't mind at all if he knocked out a couple chumps laying some "hat" in the secondary. We need that mentality on defense.
I also think two of the true freshmen will be complete naturals and ready to give added depth. Dorsey, Johnson, Robinson, Furman or Christian could have enough athletic ability to make a huge difference THIS season. I am ready for the season to start NOW!!! Go Blue!!!
|4 years 1 week ago||Mark May is never right||
Mark May and his buddy Lou Holtz make the most laughable predictions I have seen on TV. ESPN is a pro-Ohio State organization and Big Blue will be leaving their mark on people this year. Rich Rod knows he has a good team this year and he is playing it down. The pieces are now in place and they are 15 lbs. bigger than last year per man. Mark May can mark my words-pun intended. No Ohio State Championship Game this year. Go Blue!
|4 years 4 weeks ago||I have a fan||
I have been hit as well with negative points. People don't like pithy, clever comments or puns. Oh well! Just go all in for Michigan! Laying the smack down on Purdue, Sparty, and the Suckeyes is all that matters right now. Focus young grasshopper!
|4 years 4 weeks ago||Hybrid Defense||
I have to trust the coach's judgement on this one. They know what they got and how to play to the strength on what they have. I like the possibility of Mike Martin and Will Cambell being out there at the same time. Teams may have to use four lineman to block those dudes. Go Blue!
|4 years 4 weeks ago||What I don't want to see||

|4 years 4 weeks ago||Reminders||
I am reminded every day what it means to be a Michigan man. I am surrounded by an ocean of diarhea in Ohio. OSU fans suck much worse than MSU fans, but MSU, alumni, and fans still suck.
However, I do like strolling around town after a OSU loss and see the pallid faces of the fat, P.O.S. fans that call themselves OSU fans. I know that is a little off the subject, but relativity is needed when comparing MSU and OSU. I agree about the MU rejects go to MSU which is not surprising. Anyone have any crime rate data on East Lansing vs. Ann Arbor?

|4 years 5 weeks ago||Birkett is unethical||
Magnus is 100% correct. Lessons need to be learned for what is said here or anywhere. Rich Rod needs to adopt a Lloyd Carr type policy with the media. No need to feed the unethical journalists. Birkett is a hack job that is trying to make a name for himself. I wouldn't be surprised if he is on the payroll from some booster from a certain State school in state or futher south.
|4 years 9 weeks ago||Good Vibe||
I am getting really good vibes about this upcoming season. Having Donovan Warren one more year, this team (maybe bias) might have contended for a big ten title against the big boys (Penn State and Ohio State). There are many graduating quarterbacks gone from other teams and the boys are turning into men (thanks to Barwis). The key will be "Big Will" in the middle. If he can eat space and everyone else shifts one position over like the blogs are talking about, the defensive line can cause big match up problems.

|4 years 10 weeks ago||Offensive line||
Magnus, I respectfully disagree with your O-line arrangement. With that O-line we were 4-0. Subtract Molk and all hell broke loose. Granted that the level of competition rose after those first 4 games, but losing Molk killed us. Rich Rod and Co. will make the adjustments needed and go bowling with a very improved team next year. 10 games is a stretch......8 or 9
