The down blocking by all the lineman (Zone) Including the TE (Assuming he gets over in time). Allows the RB to read the middle of the defense and bounce to the left. Hence the FB stretchining to the CB on the left. The play was designed to suck Clowney in and run right by him not to the A/B gap.

I was just wondering if you read the text log? To me it seemed there was a genuine friendship and from Incognito's side a brotherhood vibe. Granted the convo was foul and drug references were everywhere (which I believe is why it didnt come out right away) but I didnt think anything was wrong with how they engaged each other. No one seemed offended. Maybe it's just me or I didnt read all the reports but I feel bad for Incognito in this instance.

I'd like to piggyback on this comment. Indeed it isn't very difficult in a routine play or in a controlled practice setting. However when you have a guy over you or even worse when you have to step hard in one direction to take the DT to one side or the other (as in a trap) it becomes increasingly difficult to make a hard step and get the ball on target.
Think of it this way, smaller centers make it to the NFL because they can long snap (tight spiraled passes between the legs basically) they can't have anyone make contact with them until their heads are up and yet they still miss from time to time.

|3 years 3 weeks ago||I have two thoughts on it||
1. The NFL obviously uses NCAA football as minor leagues for freeso make a league thats not college based. I believe the market can support it. There will be kids that choose to learn and kids that choose to get paid.
2. A portion of all jersey sales and player likeness go to a fund that is given to the player only after meeting requirements of graduation, no severe discipline issues, etc.

Again just a gamer with zero experience even thinking about how one might develop/publish a game. I hope you are right because I love indie games and currently only play on 360. I just saw a few articles/interviews with popular developers (fez, Super meat boy, etc) blasting the new xbox format/secrecy what have you.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||You're right I have never||
You're right I have never developed, nor coded i'm just someone that enjoys gaming. However with xbox 1 discontinuing their XBLA in favor of letting all games stand on their own online and this article indie games companies aren't too thrilled.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||Not sure of the validity of||
Not sure of the validity of said rumor just that I got it from IGN the benefit would be not to the consumer but the companies providing it which as you can probably tell from DRM, online only, etc seems to be where MS cares the most. The new kinect can recognize multiple people at once to play opposed to two with the first model. It never turns off. You can turn off certain functions but it lies awake waiting for certain voice commands. Again just a dirty rumor that gained some traction but based on the evidence so far not too far fetched.

Indies will flock because MS publicly stated that they don't want them. They are looking at smaller companies to develop xbla games but not indies. Aside from that the authenticating process for indie developers to get through MS is supposed to be grueling and not worth the effort. One of the points Sony made that they will continue to be indie friendly
|3 years 11 weeks ago||Yeah it has to authenticate||
Yeah it has to authenticate atleast once every 24 hours. If you don't you can still watch tv/blu ray but no games even single player. Also the big dark scuttlebutt is the Kinect will be used to see how many people you have watching a rented movie or an event. Think sports bar watching a UFC fight and if it sees more than the alloted faces then BAM busted.... Again just rumor but still scary.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||For me I play almost||
For me I play almost exclusively with real life friends nhl, borderlands, mmos (Dont get sucked in) We all have 360's however the drm and always online is crap. I leave mine hooked up and always online but the principle is insulting.
They claim 15 exclusives in the first year but the games sony is offering is looking pretty damn solid. I think MS is in for a shock at how much people are pissed and when they decide with their wallets.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||False||
Xbox came out a year before and gained the market hence the more titles in the beginning. PS then upped the anty by securing more exclusive titles along the life of both cycles. Thats one of the things xb1 has harped on is the new exclusives they have hoping it can take back that side of the market.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||As a huge gamer since birth||
I've had just about every system. I'm on the fence as to which console. I've been with 360 for the last few years and even though you pay for online its far superior i.e. private parties, cross game comms, etc) However it looks to be that ps4 is implementing the same thing with this console. I'm curious if the slight favor of ps4's specs are going to matter since if i'm not mistaken xb1 will be using cloud to overpower their specs through the future (assuming its not b.s. and I understood that correctly) The DRM and stupid rules xb1 is implementing could turn the tide if they don't figure something out soon though.

The Wings play in the West since they were one of the original 6 teams and definitely on the west side of the hockey world back then. If all athletes big or small felt that a full ride was this amazing gift then we wouldnt be having this conversation. We aren't talking about someone on the track team, field hockey, or even lacrosse. These guys see their jerseys in the stands, see themselves in every year of NCAA videogames, and can read the prices of tickets. It's no secret how much money the sweat and blood of a few use to provide for the rest. I don't think paying the players is the right way. I also think the reason the olympic model works so well is because most of the sports no one cares about for 3.5 years.
I've thought for a long time that a percentage of jersey sales should go directly to a tust account given to the player after graduation assuming they stayed out of trouble. If none of those things are met than it is given to a charity. The other option is create a semi pro league. Let those not interested in academics play for someone else.

When's the last time you looked up helmet designs? They are constantly evolving with new pads, shapes, chin straps. For the high school team I coach there are 4 different types to choose from all certified and all claim to have the better concussion technology. The real problem is slowing the brain from rattling in your skull. Short of injecting a foam padding directly in the skull to absorb any shock. On second thought, someone do that. There i've fixed it we can all go home now.

for most big programs there is a team doctor and a certified trainer. The kids go see them first because they deal with sports injuries and don't just put you on the disabled list for all sprains/boo boo's like your family doctor would. We tell our players to always see the team doctor first if able, to get proper treatment and to stay on the field if possible. This is at the discretion of the parents though. So yeah you're kinda out of the loop. No offense of course.

The NFL has jumped in with both feet in trying to accomplish this. I'm sure it's because of the threat of a lawsuit but its a big step in the right direction. The one thing I think some of us are overlooking is how fast Carder was finding guys. I bet half the qb's we will face this year won't be as fortunate.
|4 years 51 weeks ago||Just my opinion||
Couple things I see.
1. You are lined up in an overload to the right, why not just blitz Herron and drop Gordon into the zone he is standing right there.
A. If you show overload on one side and blitz from the other could get line confusion leaving one man unblocked to the qb.
2. Why not have Demens shade over and blitz Herron and Gordon?
A. Assuming i'm reading the numbers correctly Gordon has contain on the RB. He reads that the RB is staying home so he jailbreaks to the QB. Just blitzing Gordon and shading over Demens leaves 8-10 yards laterally for a dump off to the RB.
I see a blitz like this and I think Low risk High reward. Worst case scenario (assuming easy tackles are made) they only get a first down. Best case is of course a sack/pick etc. I'm excited that a guy we typically loved to pick on is being coached up and showing what he can do. Great 40 time or not. Anyway just my 2 cents.

|5 years 39 weeks ago||For the record I was not the one who negged you||
While Ryan Mallett was the "heir apparent" his dream school was Arkansas. Unfortunately Mitch Mustain signed first so he went with us. As we all know what happened with Houston Nutt and Mustain, it's no surprise that when given a chance to leave he left for his dream. Add that with the fact of a new coach that doesn't care for statues in the qb department and the writitng was on the wall that he was gone. Yes I completely agree Mallett was light years ahead of Threetsheridamnit. He would have worked out the first year or so but as soon as they tought dilithium how to pass he would have been benched. Just my epinion
|5 years 40 weeks ago||Agreed but||
I agree mostly with this statement. The only argument with Henne is that he was very hurt and played his ass off that game. If you go back and watch how much he wanted to win yet receiver's dropped damn near every ball thrown that game.

Sorry for offending you. I really didn't think it mattered to find out exactly what day it was as it wasn't a history lesson. Just a semi funny story. I'll go back to reading about Cam Newton and Denard's 40th post on throwing mechanics.
|5 years 41 weeks ago||Just for clarification.||
Just for clarification. Ahem... What the fuck is a seasoned sophomore? If anything that would describe Tate. Denard is a player that was so gifted athletically that he saw the the field a handfull of plays last year (Minus Iowa where he played due to "injury " of Forcier) where they didn't let him throw the ball because he was so incredibly behind as a qb. This year after working harder than most of us probably ever have making leaps and bounds to be the best qb he can be. Yes its frustrating when he over throws and misses a receiver only to find the safety. When you can see that he clearly has a running lane if only he would scramble. At the end of the day the only thing I blame him for is running with the ball in the wrong hand because that is something you learn early on in your life and should be corrected. I suppose by that logic Texas also has a "seasoned sophomore" in Gabbart (sp) How's their season going?
Edited for being an idiot and not knowing how to use there and their properly.

So you see while I just threw up in my mouth a little typing this list they are pretty close in regards to measurables. Pryor will definitely get drafted though I don't see someone taking a shot on him in the first few rounds. If unlike Tebow however he agrees to play anywhere on the field he could get drafted pretty decently. Remember the NFL already has no shortage of idiots. Whats one more.

I'm a 29 year old male and while driving past the Toledo campus with a couple buddies on a beautiful saturday morning we came across roughly 30 students in full "battle armor". Frickin rows of knights swinging wildly at each other. The only thing we thought was we should dress as cowboys with six shooters and ruin their day.
|5 years 46 weeks ago||I would be worried if we we||
I would be worried if we we were completely stopped by MSU last week. We drove the ball extremely well that first quarter and anytime you repeatedly shoot yourself in the foot like that there will be problems especially with a young QB. Hell there's more than half the QB's in the NFL that can't mentally comeback after 3 picks. It happens, my faith is in the offense and a decent showing by the defense. 28-20 Good guys
|5 years 46 weeks ago||While you are correct that in||
While you are correct that in the military you get the opportunity to negotiate your contract there is no guarantee. When you sign on the line to "your terms" those are only kept up until the military runs out of room or believes you're a better fit somewhere else. You are in fact property of the government and while recruiters typically get you your dream job it can be switched as I'm sure you've witnessed. You will get whatever signing bonus you agreed to but not necessarily the job. Also in your contract is the clause that you can be kept indefinitely if the government signs certain acts to keep you. When I was in the Marines many a pissed off jarheads were kept way over their end time service date after 9/11.
I've always been fond of when guys would accidentally get really sunburned and get punished for "damage to government property"
|5 years 46 weeks ago||So how about a compromise.||
So how about a compromise. The schools are making tons of money off of jersey sales. Now I know that there aren't names on the jersey's but you can't tell me that #16 sales aren't high right now. So what if there's a contract say 40 percent of jersey sales goes to the player but only after he completes his time in school. Whenever he chooses to leave if it's after he gets a degree or leaves for the NFL. Any student found in violation of team or NCAA rules forfeits all monies.
Secondly, go after the agents harshly. First offense suspension for one year. Second you're banned. There has to be some way that agents are scared to deal early with athletes.

I'm sure he gets it. I'd gladly take the acknowledgement that people still don't back him but he has a job to do to prove them all wrong. That some want him fired for dropping 3 to MSU. Screw them he's looking on to Iowa now and to rebuilding the D and getting to a bowl. Thats what I want in my coach.

As stated above dogs are pack animals. You never want to let them confuse who is alpha. (you I'm assuming) Next though is what order the new dog is in. The dogs will figure this out for themselves but depending on temperment and age of both dogs it could get bloody. You can easily force the order by making it a point of feeding the older dog first. Doesn't have to be hours before the other one just make sure the older one is eating then feed the puppy. Same with all treats/walks, etcthe older dog is first ALWAYS. This will help them both out and take away any nervousness the older dog has.

Coming from my meager few years experience coaching youth- junior high football. Make sure you're smartest most athletic kids are the DE's. The DE's will make or break your defense at this age. With three down lineman between and scatter the linebackers as you see fit. Give each LB a color so they know when they are to blitz and have one fast guy back as your safety valve. Boom defended. Always worked for us and good luck with the upcoming season.

|6 years 8 weeks ago||Who would you rather have||
Who would you rather have with 2 min left in the game? how about one second? I know that Henne never beat tosu I think our defense had more to do with that than Henne not showing up. In 4 years he threw for 886 yards and 5 td's to 2 int's. ( the int's coming his true freshman year) His senior season playing pretty damn injured and he was hitting his receivers with a limp arm only to have them drop half the balls. All i can remember of Navarre is with the game on the line my money is the ball is gonna wind up in the dirt.
|6 years 9 weeks ago||My dad definately gave me my||
My dad definately gave me my competitive streak. He would never let me win. To this day there are very few things I can honestly beat him at. The one thing I will always take away from him though was he shot me straight. He didn't believe in coddling just so I felt better about the other team crushing us. If I was terrible I was terrible and he was ready to show me how to fix it either in the backyard or by watching a game on tv and watching a pro at my position.
The one thing that would bring the wrath though was being to scared to give it my all. As an only child and no older siblings to "toughen" me up he was always there to play the part. When I first joined little league I volunteered to play catcher. I thought all the gear looked cool. So i'm sitting behind the plate and an older kid 10-11ish winds up and throws the fastest pitch I had ever seen as an 8 year old. I duck out of the way and hoped noone saw that. When we got home Dad told me to get by the garage door. He had apparently "borrowed" a bunch of balls from the coach and proceeded to howitzer these at me. Granted I'm sure they weren't all that fast but I learned that baseballs are as hard as they look and being scared is no reason not to give it your best.

Online dynasties work one of two ways. Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong since it's been awhile but there are either 10 or 12 real people with teams. These teams can be from the same conference or from different conferences. If they're from the same conference then obviously you play most of your games against real people. If they're from different conferences then you play your out of conference games against real people as the commish can set up the schedules for the year.
No matter what we recruit against each other and hopefully meet in some bowl games. The weeks are played as quick as people can all play them. I'd prefer a somewhat set schedule based on what everyone can do so it doesn't get stagnant. The only problem is getting dedicated people to stick with it for multiple seasons but I figure that shouldn't be a problem here. just toss me a friend invite from the post above and when the game comes out we'll hash out the details everyone wants.

There are enough inherent risks with any sport even when played within the rules of the game. Hell Shanahan almost cut the St. Louis goaile's head off with his skate a couple years ago completely by accident. Shit happens all the time. When you intentionally go above the rules with intent to injur or just horrible judgement you risk getting serious consequences. I don't think thats a bad precedent at all.
|6 years 16 weeks ago||I wasn't comparing the two||
I wasn't comparing the two merely pointing out the fact that players have already done time for their actions in a sporting event. How about if instead of an elbow thrown to the face he stuck his knee out? This wasn't a brutal collision with one player having his head down and getting knocked out this player intentionally threw out an illegal shot to the face. I'm sure if the player popped up after the hit and was fine to continue it would be a non issue. Unfortunately for both parties that wasn't the case. You reap what you sew.
|6 years 16 weeks ago||Hmm. Here I always thought||
Hmm. Here I always thought that Starter was cool because of Jerry Van Dyke dancing in the commercials.
|6 years 16 weeks ago||I think the precedent was||
I think the precedent was already set by the swinging of the stick to the head od Donald Brashear by Marty Mcsorely. Either way this young man missed the open check and went for the elbow to the face. The size of elbow pads now may as well be gauntlets and when used like this cause serious damage. He deserves what he gets. Hopefully the lesson is learned and they both come back healthy and better players.
Side note : I had an opportunity to play juniors out of high school and chose the Marines instead because I figured it'd be safer. Everyone tries to make a name for themselves and sometimes a little too hard.

I may have read this the wrong way (probably did). It seems like his player while not exactly misquoted did not intend to say ,"finally a real QB". I believe he meant it to show the difference between the two styles. The reporter then runs with the story as controversey. While i'm not a fan of Meyer he made his point to that reporter and stuck up for his player. Pretty commendable I think.
|6 years 23 weeks ago||Freshman||
Yeah freshman qb's undoubtedly make some bad decisions. I imagine the game moves pretty damn quickly for awhile. Holding onto the ball too long is frustrating to watch but not nearly as cringe worthy as him attempting to scramble swinging the ball around waiting to dribble it onto the turf. Either way I'm sure with his experience and hopefully uninjured line we should see some great things this year. Is it Sept yet???

I had my dad ship a bottle to me in Okinawa a few years ago. (Semper FI) This was at the height of a brand new show called JACKASS. My fellow jarheads and I had quite the prank war going. One night after one too many I decided to sneak into my buddies room as he was snoring profusely. I thought it would be a terrific idea to just pour the bottle down his gullet. I was unaware anything this side of liquid magma would make your lips swell and eyes bulge quite like that. I laughed so hard I dropped the (unfortuntely) glass bottle smashing it to the deck making a sort of tear gas effect for the next few hours. Good thing I had my own room.
The last laugh was unfortunately had by him however as all my laughter and that nights beverages caused me to have to piss like a race horse. Hot sauce by some sort of devil osmosis passes through glass onto your hands subsequently onto my most sensitive of areas. To this day I hate that show....

Points already been covered pretty well but let the kid try whatever position/positions he likes. As a current middle school hopefully high school (crosses fingers for my phone call this month) football coach I can tell the best athletes I've gotten are year round athletes. More sports the better. Also 8 year olds typically have trouble exploding out of their stance. Working on a good rip technique and or spin move as a DE will leave other kids standing still. Most young linemen are tought to keep the fists together elbows out to stop from holding. One good move or hands to the shoulder pads and his UFR's go through the roof.... Good luck.
P.S. I don't know if the league gives mouth guards but they're around $10 for a really good one that comes with dental insurance and supposedly prevents head traumas.
|6 years 24 weeks ago||Agreed||
While I completely agree with the above poster unfortunately thats not how the rest of the sporting world views it. Every week we'll have to hear about how he's just one or two key losses away from being run out of town. I for one am all in and can't wait to start the season. I think the offense will get the gears rolling and give the defense more of a rest. The spread and shred will start clicking nicely.
