well that's just, like, your opinion, man
|1 year 13 weeks ago||In what way...||
did anything I say lead you to make an analysis that "we should insult recruits?" My entire argument has been, I (not speaking for all negative posters on his committment post), was not insulting the kid and never would.
I simply questioned Harbaugh's reasoning for the offer 22 months before NSD (and I will continue to question any move that is questionable from any coach or adminstrator at the University of Michigan. I mean, that is what we as fans are allowed and obligated to do. We're here to support the team and sensibly question the decisions we don't agree with. That's what I did, and respectfully, will continue to do.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||If any kid is that sensitive...||
Do you really want him playing Big Ten football at the University of Michigan? He's going to get a lot worse than a blog poster questioning the coach's offer to him when he walks into 106,000 at The Horseshoe.
I guess you can consider me in the Larry Foote "Michigan has too many nice guys on the team" corner.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||I wish.....||
The University of Chicago would get serious about football again. They'd make an awesome rival.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||+1||
And I will get on board with the Hello: Celebratory posts and leave the questioning of coaches to other threads.
Gucci: we won't start threads to discuss certain kids. We will start threads to discuss our coaching thoughts. We should basically have a "Coaching: snowflakes" thread weekly even in the offseason.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||Tennessee.||
110,000 at The Big House | 107,000 the next year at Neyland Stadium. That could be fun.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||Great point.||
And I think that's why none of my posts were removed yesterday. I was never criticizing the kid. I was questioning the staff on their offer. I think there is a huge difference. I also don't agree with the crowd that says "you can't question the coaches, they know more than you do."
That might be true, but if we could never question anyone in their profession, second opinion doctor appointments would never happen. We would never switch Financial Advisors because we wouldn't be able to question their trades, investments etc. etc.
I am happy for the kid. He gets to live his dream at the University of Michigan. That is great. Hopefully it all pans out and U-M football can be a winner again.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||This is great.||
Great for Caris - Great for Michigan - Great for the Big Ten - Great for everyone!
|1 year 13 weeks ago||CARIS!||
There is little doubt in my mind he will be Michigan's 3rd Big Ten POY in the last four years! GO BLUE!
|1 year 13 weeks ago||All you need to know about Jim Harbaugh...||
is that SF 49ers fans leave usually the first 12 comments on his Twitter account every day asking him to come back. If you like hard work and winning, Jim Harbaugh is the greatest guy in the world. If you like getting a big fat paycheck and getting on with your business, Jim Harbaugh is probably "mentally insane" to some (per Alex Boone).
|1 year 13 weeks ago||Oh, I definitely will.||
I just hope I don't have to wait four plus years when he gets here for that like I'm still doing with Allen Gant.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||No.||
I usually agree with you, but you are just bouncing things off the wall right now. Not many "who have control over their bodies....?" How do we know this kid does? We've seen a minute film of him catching like five passes. Every kid on my Single A high school football team could do what he did in the film.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||Can you clarify?||
What is the other reason he got offered then at this point? There are plenty of 6'6, 200+ pound guys that have less than or equal to one catch in high school football.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||Well.||
It wasn't meant literally as in the board's lack of urgency is why Michigan football sucks right now. I do think the fan base has something to do with it - bitch about alternate jerseys, bitch about night games, bitch and moan about music in the stadium.
The university in general, the fans, the entire athletic department all needed overhaul. I think Harbaugh is the right guy to do it. I won't agree with every decision he makes just like this one, but I trust he'll make more right decisions than wrong decisions. In the end, will Michigan be elite again? Who knows --- we'll have to wait and see.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||No, I don't think Harbaugh is OK with being irrelevant.||
But, does that mean we don't have the right to question if his moves are best to win a national championship? If so, why does this blog even exist? We all have opinions and like to voice our opinions. My opinion is simple: I'm not "trashing the kid.." I'm simply stating it IS MY OPINION that this was a bad offer at this stage in the game from Harbaugh. No harm, no foul, no big deal - just an opinion.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||So.||
Where did the other two kids go who were in front of him? This Brother Rice you speak of and are so knowledgable about must be putting kids in the NFL like Long Beach Poly. So a simple question, where are the kids who were in front of him going? Surely, they are elite SEC caliber TE's to hold off a stud Michigan offeree who has one career reception.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||Recruiting.||
The recruits love it. For that, it's important. For early enrollee's, it's important.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||I'm worried......||
Because Michigan sucks at football and has for a while. The lack of urgency on this board is startling. Everyone is OK with being irrelevant. I'm not. I want Michigan to win again. I want Michigan to be great. I want Michigan to win championships - not be happy that Harbaugh took a legacy with zero offers and hope that we can just get to 8-4 this season.
That is so Iowa-ish it's not even funny.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||Yeah. I am giving them shit.||
Because I haven't complained for the last fifteen years while I've watched us lose to Appalachian State, Toledo, and to Ohio State 13 times in that timeframe. It's very simple: you win championships by having good football players. No one can honestly say this kid is worthy of a coveted football scholarship at the University of Michigan at this point because, let's be honest, he's never even played in a high school football game.
Am I saying he won't be good or worthy of an offer in six months? No, I'm not. I'm saying if the Akrons, Furman's, and Western Michigan's of the world weren't beating his door down, why did we - other than the fact his father played for Bo 30 year ago?
|1 year 13 weeks ago||I still can't get over this.||
We took an early commit from someone who has one high school catch in his career and zero offers. I guess I shouldn't be surprised: Harbaugh's first full Stanford class had a ton of 2 stars.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||San Diego.||
In what year was this imaginary National Title claimed? Appalachian State won the championship in both years San Diego was good under Harbaugh.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||I mentioned this...||
in the committment post on the front page. It seems like JB wants a few more big guys who can get the basketball off the boards. We'll see. I actually prefer his old method of "you don't need to rebound if you make enough 3's"........
|1 year 14 weeks ago||2014 tournament?||
I remember Coach Beilein being a little dismayed after the 2014 loss to Kentucky. I think he said something like "They were just above the rim on us - nothing we could really do about it." I think that game left a bad taste in his mouth and he wants enough big guys that can get above the rim to compete with the big teams like Kentucky.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||The biggest thing.||
I'm trying to stay level headed. I remember when Hoke first got here and pounded his fist, started recruiting like a God, won the Sugar Bowl, and I was like we are about to be THE MICHIGAN OF OLD.......... and then 2013 happened... then 2014 happened... I just want; I just need this time to be different.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Depends.||
I like day games so we don't have to wait.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Well...........||
Considering the fact that Michigan has landed one guy this millennium that Kentucky has offered, that is why I think he's going to Kentucky.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Kentucky.||
He's headed to Kentucky - like all the other elite five star talent in the country.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||So.....||
Is the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN FOOTBALL TEAM going 15-0 or 14-1 this season? Tough question, very tough.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||3 years.||
It's been like that since Brandon inked the deal in 2012. Utah wanted Michigan at their place. Michigan wasn't going unless it was a primetimer on national television to open the season.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Good.||
We need more night games since we might actually, you know, be good at football again in the next few years.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||I really think he needs another year.||
I'm really not being a maize and blue homer here. To me, his game really needs another year. The same way GR3's game needed one more year. Burke, Hardaway, and Stauskas were all ready and probably couldn't have taken their game to another level.
Mitch (darn), Caris, and GR3 would've all benefited from one more season to really fine tune certain parts of their game:
Caris - being a shut down defender and being the guy
GR3 - needed to solidfy his shot, especially outside range
Mitch - Durability, experience, and his low post game needed some work.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||My thoughts as well.||
I know some may say, "Wow, 20 TDs and 5 INTs is crazy thinking..." Well, he had 16/5 at Iowa... Iowa... There is no doubt in my mind we have more talented players than Iowa. They just have to be developed.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||The bad thing:||
The Royals are also on pace for 162-0. Something has to give.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Just in watching old film...||
Devin was awful. Really awful. He was a broken QB. Even when there wasn't pressure he was latched onto Gallon/Funchess. Also, he never put the ball in stride. Every catch was difficult.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Wow.||
LA was really playing with some "weird guys" out there... I'm amazed they even knew how to shoot a ball in a basket. Izzo's "weird guys" weren't even capable of that a year ago.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||IT'S FRIDAY!||
Hope everyone made it out alright from the storms last night. Now it's time to get yourselves ready for this BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP RUN the baseball team is about to make! LETS GO BLUE!
|1 year 15 weeks ago||1997 PSU.||
In part, because I will always remember the Daydrion Taylor hit. I was only seven and that alone made me want to play football.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Attrition||
We will have lots of early draft entries after we go 15-0 this year. So I'm looking forward to the #Fab25 coming in and keeping the winnning streak going.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Lol.||
The fact that there are some oversensitive people who didn't want the university to show American Sniper tells me everything I need to know about why the stadium is the quietest 110,000 people anywhere in America on most Saturdays.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Ohio State and Michigan State.||
I will never root for either of those schools. Why? Because when they win, we lose (recruiting, fan base wise etc. etc.) I do, however, root for the rest of the conference during bowl season, March Madness, College World Series and so on.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||What a coincidence!||
In my non-biased early bracket, I have Michigan as a #1 seed and winning the national championship. Of course, I have no idea who all will be on the team, but they are a #1, nonetheless!!!!!!!!!! :)
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Baseball team.||
Playing extremely well - just won a series with a good IU team last weekend and then comes out today and drills EMU.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Either.||
I don't really prefer one over the other. LeVert will be a Big Ten POY candidate - Brown will be a Freshman All-American candidate. In a perfect world, Caris stays, Brown comes, and we find another scholarship elsewhere.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||BleacherReport.||
Very dependable - no doubt about that... WE. ARE. BACK.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Great point.||
I should probably just trust HARBAUGH anyways - he went 12-1 with a guy named Stephan Taylor at his RB and also made a guy named Toby Gerhardt a Heisman candidate and NFL draft pick.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||I'm all for commits.||
But is anyone else concerned about the lack of speed on offense? Harbaugh and Hoke both put an emphasis on power and size... and we have looked extremely slow the last couple of years on offense. It sure would be nice to have a RB with some big time speed.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||I'm all for commits.||
But is anyone else concerned about the lack of speed on offense? Harbaugh and Hoke both put an emphasis on power and size... and we have looked extremely slow the last couple of years on offense. It sure would be nice to have a RB with some big time speed.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Crazy.||
It's kind of weird that a coach who has nothing to show for any of his previous stints (UMass and Memphis) is going to the Hall of Fame.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Reese.||
Reminds me of Desmond Morgan. I honestly remember thinking Morgan was going to be a FB at Michigan due to his lack of athleticism but ability to deliver a punch.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||The problem||
The problem with us thinking "the defense is beastly" while dominating the spring game is we've thought that for the last two years...... and the defense, while above average, has not been a dominating unit at all.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Dele' Harding||
Does anyone forget he was a commit? Not much out there about him despite the fact he committed during one of the worst times to commit haha
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Friday. Posbang.||
Another round. Yes, please. Go blue!!!!!!!
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Soon.||
The fact is Ohio State and the SEC have beat us a lot lately because they've out recruited us for a decade. That has continued the last few months.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Trying to take my Maize and Blue goggles off....||
But what does Harbaugh have to do to get in the top 4? I guess back to back 11-1 seasons in FCS were not enough? I guess going 12-1 and winning the Orange Bowl was not enough? I suppose three straight NFC championships was not enough as well?
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Definitely a Fall battle......||
I think this year and possibly next year's QB battle will be a lot like the 2004 Chad Henne/Matt Guiterrez/Clayton Richard/Spencer Briton battle. We can assume that Rudock will be the guy, but someone may come out of nowhere and take the job (seeing as how it will be a meritocracy).
|1 year 16 weeks ago||The NCAA is right here.||
The National Collegiate Athletic Association cannot babysit the academic policies of every university that sits under them. That would be like the Social Security Administration being responsible to ensure that every individual in America buys a private disability insurance policy to supplement their income.
It's just not possible for an organization to oversee.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Magnus.||
Just a question, not in an asshole type of way, but how do you substantiate that Rivals is the most accurate site? Obviously Scout ranks more 4 and 5 stars overall, but what makes Rivals better in your opinion?
I haven't seen any studies that prove Rivals is by and far the supreme leader in recruiting rankings. In fact the only evidence I've seen is some dimwit named Mike Farrell promoting himself as "The Godfather of Recruiting."
Personally, I've used Rivals for some time but have started to veer over to the 24/7 composite rankings more and more.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Great news.||
Any offseason that comes and goes without attrition from the Men's basketball coaching staff is a success. This crew has proven itself worthy of our trust and appreciation.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Ramsey Romano.||
Kid was All State in CA before choosing baseball - could be a wildcard for the Maize team.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Well......||
I thought National Championship yesterday; I think National Championship today; I'll think National Championship forever.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||I don't see what the big deal is.||
Webber stated the obvious - WCS has regressed from the field all three years. We have no evidence he is conditioned to play 40 minutes in a game. He was injured last year with a lower body injury (something that nags NBA bigs). He's a 7 footer that can defend - nice to have for situational basketball.
But I don't think LeBron James, Kevin Love, Greg Monroe, Kevin Durant, etc. etc. are really shaking in their sneakers.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Really?||
I heard Ramsey Ramono was the #1 pick. We might have the same source?
|1 year 16 weeks ago||I could be wrong.||
But I've watched Kentucky like ten times this year and I honestly don't think any of their guys are solid NBA'ers. They make a great college team - yes, maybe the best ever. But none of them are really great.
Cauley-Stein can't score (so he's Theo Ratliff except quicker); Booker is basically Nik Stauskas 2.0 - except he's only proven to be a shooter; neither Harrison shoots better than 39% from the field so they are 6'6 guards who can do what exactly --- defend; Poythress might not be the same after the injury; Towns and Lyles disappear far too often for "sure fire NBA All Stars..."
Maybe I'm just having flashbacks from last year's Elite 8 game, but the guy who impresses me the most as a future NBA'er is Marcus Lee (who barely gets to play most of the time). He has great energy, shoots 65%, grabs every board with his incredible wingspan, and still can alter shots despite only being 6'9. The thing that would hold him back is his 30% from the FT line and he needs to gain a little weight and develop a solid outside game if he's going to be a 4 in the NBA.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Crazy, huh||
I'm twenty-four (24) and Michigan hasn't won a Rose Bowl since I was seven (7) years old. The Texas game in 2005 was painful. I guess you could technically count January 2000 as somewhat of a big win - we won the Orange Bowl because that's when the Big10 vs Pac10 Rose Bowl matchup was not protected due to the BCS.
I was in attendance for the 2012 Sugar Bowl and it's just hard to accept that as a big win because of how poorly we played, how poorly Virginia Tech played, and the fact that most people in America thought both only got into a BCS bowl to sell tickets.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Good points.||
But the undefeated, #2 ranked team in the nation still lost to Ohio State and then got smacked in the mouth in Pasadena. The fact that the football team hasn't won a Rose Bowl since January 1st, 1998 makes me want to cry.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Decade long demise.||
In the last ten years, we have seen: Bo pass away, a loss to Appalachian State, a loss to Toledo, a loss to Eastern Michigan, a loss to The New Jersey Institute of Technology, more losses than wins to Ohio State and Michigan State, a near loss to Akron, and six coaching changes............ Our misfortunes have to be ready to turn around, right?
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Tennessee.||
They couldn't have done much better. Barnes gets a lot of critisism around here, but the fact is he has won 604 games. He's been deep into the tournament a couple of times. That's all Tennessee basketball is about - get to the tournament - win a game or two - occasional sweet 16 and their fan base is happy.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||Hoke.||
I thought about him since he's so player and family oriented, but he doesn't see the entire game. There is no excuse for continuing to play a guy that can't stand up on his own (no matter if that's a sprained ankle, concussion, etc. etc.)
|1 year 17 weeks ago||Let's see...||
1.) Jim Harbaugh
2.) Bob Stoops (have always been a fan)
3.) Chris Petersen (gets the most out of his players)
4.) Les Miles (he's funny and has a good personality)
5.) Bill Snyder (family man, loves his players, gets 110% effort from every man on the team)
|1 year 17 weeks ago||True lol||
The one I saw online said 5'10 140 pounds. So I'm assuming I looked in the wrong place since he's not from Montgomery County, Ohio.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||A near perfect Michigan comparison:||
Would be Braylon Edwards. 6'3 212 pounds at the combine. Drake Harris is 6'4, 176 pounds. Drake Harris needs to be 6'4, 220 pounds to truly be in an NFL frame. The closest thing to Harris in the 2014 NFL draft was L'Damian Washington from Mizzou (6'4 195 pounds, went undrafted after a 50 catch, 900 yard, 10 TD season in 2013).
He's now on the Cleveland Browns practice squad. Harris truly needs to put on 30+ pounds to be elite and a top flight draft prospect.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Honestly.||
I was using a set of Golden Bears for the longest time and spent a little money on Taylormade Rocketballz last summer and instantly saw a leap in my game. I was able to cut off about four or five strokes per round just because I was about 15-20 yards further with each club.
I don't think you would need a big, huge, expensive set to improve your game. I have been happy with my investment which I didn't have to put a mortgage on.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Haha.||
The best part of Jim Harbaugh's Twitter is seeing all the 49ers fans beg for him to come back - while cursing Jed York in the same tweet.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Happy Friday!||
All aboard the "ANYONE BUT KENTUCKY!!!!!!!" train.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Cole.||
He is actually the prototypical size for an NFL center. I'll take it.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Top 10:||
I never realized how many unproven players U-M had until trying to come up with a list of ten good players.............
The only ones who have produced at their expected rate thus far: Butt, Cole, Morgan, maybe Willie Henry, Bolden, and JD Lewis. It's sad how far this team has to go when you look at the recruiting classes Hoke brought in.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Can't get into it.||
I'm more of a polo/button down type-of-guy but I'm not an SEC fratstar that judges those who wear jerseys.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I'd prefer||
I'd prefer Drew Henson to start since he has a year of eligiblity left.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Probably||
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Dayton.||
I have no idea why they are in the play in game. They should've been in the field easily. Their lack of depth is concerning, so this pretty much assures a quick exit having to play an extra game.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||Yep, same thinking.||
I know we don't like to toss out names, but I was worried that Donnal might look elsewhere since Doyle took his spot. I still think Donnal has a high ceiling for a college basketball player - he just has to put it together.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||Agree but disagree.||
I do agree that the proof is there for Camp Sanderson, but also some of these kids have been here since July and probably haven't seen their families in months. Chatman and Wilson in particular, are from the other coast so it might be good for them to head home for a couple of weeks.
Of course as a Michigan fan, I want everyone to stay and get better... but I wouldn't technically be mad if someone went home and trained for a couple weeks because they missed their family.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||Depends.||
Today - yes, Spike over Walton.
Next year - no, Walton starts but Spike should still play 25+ minutes off the bench. The biggest issue with Spike is he can't stay in front of anyone on defense... not his fault, he's just not athletic enough to stay in front of the good PG's in the Big Ten. So for every point/assist he gets us, it's usually given back on the other end.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||YESSSS!||
10 QB's, 12 QB's, who gives a s***! We are never losing a game again. I've (once again for the third straight year) ventured my eyes to the 2027 schedule and see nary a loss in sight!

I love the idea. Love the fact that Harbs is in full coaching gear. This team will be ready to play on September the 3rd in Salt Lake City, Utah. There is no doubt in my mind.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Well.||
He probably didn't talk to him because he was in the middle of mailing out 5,000 letters and making 4,000 calls to high school juniors and seniors trying to build his program.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||McCray.||
He's not moving. He's a linebacker. Winovich is moving to FB/TE per his Twitter.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Remember when.||
Remember when MSU fans made fun of Daryl Stonum? Maybe we should do that, or maybe we should pretend to be better than them and just ignore their drunk of a receiver.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||So-so||
I'm not crazy about the shorts.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||Love Jabrill.||
But I could sense Harbaugh as not being crazy about "some freshmen acting out and doing a flip" during practice. Then again, I could see Harbaugh excited about the enthusiasm during the first day of practice.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||Urban||
He didn't know about Drayton leaving just like he still doesn't know 57 of his players were arrested in six years at Florida.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||Great win.||
This group is going to be fun to watch in 2015-16.
|1 year 22 weeks ago||I don't get it.||
Maybe it's because I don't live in Michigan and deal with those people every day anymore, but a 4-4 MSU shouldn't be a bigger draw than a 6-2 or 7-1 Penn State at night - which I think is going to be happening very soon.
Also, it's not like the evens are going to be bad that long:
2016 - Hawaii, Colorado, UCF, Wisconsin, Penn State, Illinois, Maryland, Indiana
2018 - Arkansas, SMU, Nebraska, Maryland, Wisconsin, Penn State, Indiana
I might be in the minority here, but sign me up for a Colorado, Wisconsin, Penn State as opposed to a Colorado, Wisconsin, MSU in 2016 and an Arkansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State as opposed to Arkansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin and MSU in 2018.
"Michigan State ain't going no where as long as Dantonio is there." No one said they were, we just think they are a lot closer to the 11-1 team that lost 49-7 to Alabama and the 10-2 team that lost by 21 to Oregon. It's not anything to do with them, but as the Big Ten gets better, their flaws will show. They are not that good (2014 especially); the Big Ten has just sucked.
|1 year 22 weeks ago||Winston.||
I really don't believe he'll land in Tennessee. They have already dealt with a guy just like him - Vince Young. Whisenhunt isn't the type to babysit a rookie QB.
|1 year 22 weeks ago||MSU||
Schedule won't be imbalanced that long.... Sparty won't be good after another 2-3 years. I'd rather have MSU and Ohio State "imbalanced" as opposed to having to play Ohio State and Penn State on the road together every two years.
|1 year 22 weeks ago||OSU twitter fans:||
They all say that neither Armani nor the other kid (can't remember his Name, maybe Dodson) played in the Chamionship game. I've seen multiple OSU fans dispute that the two medical redshirts played in the NC game..... So do we have any video or statistical proof that they played?
|1 year 22 weeks ago||College athletes:||
They should never be paid. They are not professional athletes, and if they want to be paid, they can pay taxes on their additional "income" and their scholarship award (i.e. tuition, room/board etc. etc.)
No sport should forbid a high school senior from entering any draft. If an eighteen year old wants to enter the NFL draft - let him. It is his loss of an education and his decision should be respected.
The entire bowl and playoff system in college football will never be fair until semi-finals are played on college campuses of the higher seed. Get this, the closest Michigan would play to home in the college football playoff? Atlanta, Georgia in the Peach Bowl.
|1 year 22 weeks ago||Chatman||
I think he'll come back next year and be a totally different player. I could be completely wrong, but when I think back to high school - I was shy as a freshman (on a team that went to state the year before) but made a huge leap my sophomore year as I felt more comfortable with my surroundings and role.
Same can be said for college academics. Shy, didn't know anyone, had no idea where anything was on campus. Second year came and I was a totally different person who was giving directions, studying with a schedule, and participating on a whole other level. I'm hoping this holds true for Kam.
|1 year 22 weeks ago||2015-16 question.||
I was thinking about this last night after the loss: I have NO idea who starts next year if LeVert comes back. You could go:
Walton, Spike, LeVert, Irvin, Doyle as starters ... with Dawkins, MAAR, Robinson, Chatman, D.J. Wilson, and Donnal off the bench. You could go:
Walton, LeVert, Irvin, Dawkins, Doyle ... with Spike, MAAR, Robinson, Chatman, Wilson, and Donnal off the bench.
I mean next year's team should have so much depth. I'd guess that LeVert leaves and the starters are Spike, Walton, Irvin, Dawkins, Doyle ... with MAAR, Chatman, Robinson, Wilson and Donnal off the bench.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Let me just say this.||
If 70,000 doesn't show up, it would be embarrassing for the Michigan fan base. There is no reason not to go this year. And, and, by not going you do THE TEAM a disservice as they desperately need a game like atmosphere for the Alex Malzone's, Drake Harris', Brian Cole's of the world who haven't played with the bright lights on yet.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Six point underdog?||
That's good seeing as how we don't have a starting QB, RB, 2nd TE (who is actually a starter for Harbaugh), and we don't know if we're running a 3-4, 4-3, or hybrid defense yet. These oddmakers are really thorough in their predictions it appears at this point.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Bold Prediction:||
Shane Morris solidifies the offense and plays solid in 2015.
Taco Charlton mauls his way to a 10 sack season.
Dymonte Thomas: I don't know where. I don't know how, but the light will click on for him this year. Whether that's at safety, nickel corner, RB, punt returner - this staff will get the most out of him and he will contribute in a meaningful way.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Re: Graduation rate||
I graduated in three years, and it was the worst decision I ever made. I wish I would have stayed an additional 1-2 years. There is nothing wrong with those who stay in college for five years. I miss education so much that I'm leaving a decent finance career of three years for law school (no, I don't want a lecture on the state of the legal profession.)
But, for the sake of this argument, 14% is bad for a four year graduation rate. I do think five years would be a better indicator for a school like this where a sturdy portion of their students take remedial classes.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Just speaking anecdotally...||
I feel the biggest thing that separated 2011 from '12-'14 was the defenses ability to get off the field on 3rd and shorts. I remember being amazed that we stopped 3rd/4th and 1 or 2 like ten times in a row during a stretch of the season. RVB, Martin, and Roh truly stepped their games up.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||As others have pointed out.||
Operation Sports will definitely have one. I downloaded one last year from them in the summer and it worked fine. Dynasty isn't as much fun with not having the actual schedules/dates, but you can only do so much.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Yes.||
Michigan did do that for years in 1997 - 2001. That was great fourteen years ago before social media, cell phones, or the spread offense. That's not how things work anymore. Every program that has played in the national championship the last five years has had some sort "pay for play, oversigning, or dirty dog scandal" to sift through.
Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, Ohio State, LSU, Auburn, and Florida have all had NCAA issues and had slaps on the wrist. The game is simple: bend the rules or go 5-7 and replace your coach hoping to win every three years. I'm just speaking anecdotally here in stating I don't think you can be an elite program anymore without a little rule bending.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Interesting.||
All deals are 2-3 years with the exception of Fisch who is on a 1 year deal. Is is standard procedure to sign a HC to a long-term deal but leave the assistants to 2-3 years?
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Basically||
Any get today is a nice get. Adds depth and that's what we need in 2015.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Not as if I was creepin'||
But he changed his Twitter bio and banner at least by the day he was leaving for U-M. I actually live in the same city as him and saw he was visiting, so I journeyed over to his page and never saw an Ole' Miss reference or banner.... and that's the day he was flying into Detroit before even visiting Ann Arbor.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Yeah.||
Our Twitter fan base is pretty comparable to a few other atrocious fan bases - Tennessee and Alabama come to mind as large fan bases with tons of idiots online who don't hesitate to talk trash to high schoolers.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Yes.||
You have to be at 85 scholarship athletes on the first day of fall practice.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Well, not exactly.||
Then your two options are:
1.) Be moral and lose - which we've been exceptional at lately.
2.) Do what the elites are doing and win with absolutely zero punishment.
I'm somewhat of a firm believer that is the direction we are headed. Be an elite program and bend the rules or be mediocre and "do things the right way." You decide.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Non-story||
The NCAA doesn't care about this so why not do it? It's obviously not the moral thing to do, but there are no consequences right now for ruining kid's lives to make sure you have the best.
Butch Jones at Tennessee has taken nearly 60 commits in his first two classes at Tennessee - Kevin Sumlin the same - Alabama the same in Saban's first two years. You do the math if that makes sense with virtually zero attrition.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Agreed. Major outlier.||
Urban was hired early December and had time to see recruits before the dead period. He also had a twelve month vacation to evaluate recruits while he was spending more time with his fami........ well touring college campuses and calling games with Chris Spielman.
Jim was hired basically in January, in the middle of a dead period, and was a little busy the last twelve months to worry about recruiting. He also didn't have the advantage of Penn State sanctions to blow up their entire recruiting class like Urban did. But the loss of Arnette was a little tough to take. Why? Because Urban offered the kid just because he knew it was a need for Michigan and trending that way in the kid's recruitment. Ohio State had the room so they took a flyer on the kid instead of letting U-M have a recruit from a Florida HS power.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Does anyone have a bad feeling?||
I do. Let's face it, next year's senior/RS Junior class was a top 7 class. They've underachieved. It's probably going to be a rebuilding year (without a legit QB stepping up). 2016's Senior/RS Junior class was a top 5 class and is, really, our only hope for an awesome season at this time.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||NIT.||
I think the losses to NJIT and Eastern Michigan are going to be too much to overcome for any sort of tourney spot, unfortunately. 13-9 right now, should be 15-7 with tough losses to Wisconsin, MSU, and Arizona. I actually think this team could win the NIT though - even though that isn't exactly what any of us wanted coming into the season.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Ok.||
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Ok.||
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Wheatley.||
He is an important get. There's really no way to understate that. Why? Because he can play multiple positions. With this class being so small, it'd be good to get some athlete types like Wheatley and figure out in the fall where they are needed.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Been waiting on this.||
Was bound to happen. Harbaugh was obviously going to recruit his own QB for the 2016 class, especially after seeing the shambles of what the previous regime did at the QB position.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Lol.||
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Would like to see!||
I'd like to see Michigan play a home and home with Nebraska in non-B1G years. Obviously, I'd rather see the Texas' and Oklahoma's of the world, but if I had to settle for a one off with Hawaii or home and home with Nebraska, you obvioulsly know what I'd rather see in a September primetime game.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Good pickup.||
Why you ask? Because this kid has 12 guys to pass in 2016 after a redshirt in 2015. This is great for depth, will give him ample opportunity to develop, and is a low risk/high reward pickup this late in the game.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Would be a big get.||
I. Marshall, M. Weber, C. Clark, R. Smith would make this class infinitely better instantaneously. Add in a couple under the radar guys and I'd be ecstatic. Come on down KLS and Wheatley Jr.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Don't count on Glenville.||
Michigan isn't getting any of the elite recruits from Glenville. Ohio State gets their pick from there. Then the best we can do is get whatever is left ala Frank Clark, Willie Henry. That could change with winning on a consistent basis, but considering the fact that U-M hasn't won a Big Ten Championship since these kids were 6-7 years old, I wouldn't get my hopes up for any Gleville 4/5 stars heading North.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Alabama.||
They definitely have a staff that is up there. The recruiting prowess by Saban, Kiffin, Christobal (FIU's old HC), Lance Thompson, and Kirby Smart is pretty much unmatched in college football. You throw in the fact that they've been so successful in the past and have one of the best offensive minds in the game in Kiffin and that is pretty much the standard.
I think Harbaugh, Durkin, Mattison, Fisch and Wheatley (among the others) can match that, but they have to get it done on the field. Ohio State's staff is also solid even with the loss of Herman.
|1 year 27 weeks ago||The system isn't perfect.||
No system is. Tennessee was a play in team in March Madness last year. They made it all the way to the sweet 16 and nearly beat U-M.
|1 year 27 weeks ago||It worked out well.||
Harbaugh got a job with the 49ers and went to the Super Bowl with a dude named Kaepernick playing QB. His other QB, Andrew Luck, is probably going down a one of the best in NFL history when it's all over with.
|1 year 27 weeks ago||Johnson.||
I'd personally like to see Dior Johnson hop aboard, and truthfully, I'd like to see Harbaugh make a push at Kyle Kearns (4 star QB from CA, uncommitted with low offer sheet), or one of Florida State's three committed QB's. I know stars aren't always the best indicator, but signing a big number of four stars in three weeks couldn't hurt Harbaugh's momentum at Michigan.
|1 year 27 weeks ago||Zordich.||
Like the hire. PSU All-American, 12 year NFL vet, 5 years at Cardinal Mooney in OH, 4 years as an NFL coach, 1 year of college coaching experience. Looks like an intense guy. Should relate well with JABRILL and IMAN (see what I did there?)
|1 year 27 weeks ago||Well let's not lie about it.||
We're not really screwed. If he can teach any TE to block for 1.2 seconds, that would be an upgrade over what they did in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
|1 year 27 weeks ago||Kyle Kearns||
What's the deal with him? California, 6'2, 180, 4 stars to Rivals, and his offer list is significantly lacking (SMU, UC Davis)? I somewhat thought he'd be a prime target for Harbaugh.
|1 year 27 weeks ago||We're back.||
Get used to this feeling. Going to be a lot of W's in the near future.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||Per our debate in the Iman Marshall thread.||
Probably should redshirt. That's what the elite programs like Iowa, Oklahoma State, and Minnesota do.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||Red shirts.||
I know we have this conversation a lot on the board, but redshirts are truly a waste of time if you want to be an elite program with elite players. Michigan, like Ohio State, should not have to worry about "burning redshirts." Urban has done quite well with the "We don't redshirt players" mantra, and I'm a firm believer that "blue blood programs" shouldn't have to.
Redshirts are great for the Sparties, Minnesotas and Wisconsins of the world who have to develop three star guys. Michigan recruits elite talent that should be ready to go from day one ala Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and USC. No excuse for Dymonte. He was a track star in a safeties body and didn't need a redshirt physically to be a backup safety.
The University of Tennessee just went 7-6 with 24 freshmen playing and basically everyone in their two deep as an underclassmen, and I can assure you they looked like a good football team down the stretch. That's what happens when you bring in a new coach (Butch Jones) that recruits elite talent. You play them, develop them, and let them learn.
Fortunately for us, we are in a different situation than UT. We have most all of our elite recruiting class starters back from a year ago unlike the Dooley/Jones Tennessee transition. We have starters that were all highly coveted out of high school, and our elite recruits under Harbaugh should be ready to go in the two deep to challenge them from day one. That's how you win championships - like Alabama and Ohio State.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||Would be huge.||
Lewis, Peppers, Countess, Marshall, Richardson, Stribling doesn't sound half bad at all. Hopefully Jarrod Wilson and (maybe) Dymonte can finally "get it" this year and turn up their game to a different level.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||IMAN MARSHALL||
That would be a huge get if Harbaugh and company can reel him in. I would think Harbaugh, Mattison, Durkin, and Jackson will be all over this for the next few weeks. Would love to see Mora take an NFL gig and open it back up for KLS!
|1 year 28 weeks ago||Miami||
The fans there actually liked him - which says a lot because they hate all their current coaches.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||Miami fans really liked him.||
Judging by Twitter comments on the reported story, Miami fans really liked him and think this is an excellent hire if true. Also helps that he has recruited the Midwest and South Florida.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||The Jags.||
Denard did well in his offense, but let's be clear, he was working with a rookie QB, second year RB, and two rookie WR's in Jacksonville - not exactly a sure fire way to success in the NFL.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||It's an NFL thing.||
I believe it's more of an NFL thing. This way you have basically co-coordinator's that devise the gameplan each week and they also coach a position group which levels the responsibilities for a staff, so you could be looking at something like this:
HC - Harbaugh
QB - J. Dougherty
RB - Wheatley
RGC/OL - Drevno
PGC/TE - Jedd Fisch
WR - John Morton
DL - Mattison
DC/LB - Durkin
DB - Greg Jackson
ST - John Baxter
So, Manning may in fact be an odd man out, unless Wheatley doesn't come and Harbaugh looks to him. Obviously, that's all speculation based on me not knowing anything.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||A few things have happened to give us hope.||
1. Ohio State beat Alabama and we were playing with Ohio State until the 4th quarter.
2. We in essence had Luke Fickell coaching us last year. Next year, we have Urban Meyer for comparison's sake. Ohio State: 6-7 under Luke Fickell. 12-0 first year under Meyer. I don't think anyone expects that from Harbaugh, but most recognize we have two top seven recruiting classes coming back as upper classmen next year along with a sophomore class that had a top 15 cumulative star ranking average + a freshman class that should look decent by signing day.
3. We return everyone of significance besides Funchess, Beyer, Ryan, and Frank Clark. QB play (I hate to say it couldn't get any worse than we had last year) should be better.
That is why I really think 2015 could be a lot of fun. It's a bit of a tough schedule when you look at the schedule: @Utah, Oregon State under Gary Anderson, @Penn State, Michigan State, Ohio State. It will be a challenge, but I'm not betting against a solid season. I'd go over on the 8.5 wins.
|1 year 28 weeks ago||This team.||
This team is about as frustrating as it gets. They don't really defend well. They don't move the ball well on offense. They don't shoot well. They don't rebound at all. They don't get to the rim and when they do they miss layups.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Today.||
Today is a pretty big day for the Big Ten vs SEC debate. While it may not look like much, Tennessee vs Iowa is a huge game. Proponents of the SEC say their conference's bottom teams are better than the Big Ten's middle of the road teams which makes it vastly superior. Tennessee has definitely been a lesser SEC team through the last decade. Iowa has been a middle of the road Big Ten team.
Iowa wins, that thought can go out the window. Tennessee wins, and the SEC still goes 2-2 vs the Big Ten in bowl season. 3-3 on the year as Mizzou last to IU but Wisconsin lost to LSU during the regular season. I'm actually pumped for that Tennessee/Iowa game to be honest.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Not crazy about the hire if true.||
Not going to lie, I'm not crazy about the hire. Would be a great offensive line coach hire, but let's be honest, the guy hasn't called a play as an OC since 2006. The game and defenses are quite a bit different seven years later.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Braxton.||
His best bet would be Oregon or Texas for a year. Jimbo and Florida State like to stretch the field vertically in the pass game and, umm, let's just say Braxton doesn't do that very well.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Agreed.||
But receiver shouldn't really be an issue next year: Darboh, Chesson, Canteen, Harris, Cole should be as good, if not better than, almost any group in the Big Ten next year outside of Ohio State's group.
The biggest issue we have currently besides quarterback is TE. We have JB (who is good), but after that we have a bunch of upper classmen that don't do anything right. Williams and Heitzman can't block and aren't receiving threats. Bunting is small and strictly a receiving threat. Khalid Hill does just enough to be serviceable.
We definitely need Clark and another TE recruit like Wheatley to step in next year and help out.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Harbaugh basketball speech?||
What will he say? Will there be an Ohio State reference? Will there be a Mark Dantonio reference? Will he single handedly lead the basketball team to a victory tomorrow night? I cannot wait!
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Honestly.||
I've been waiting for a good reason to throw that back at him for eleven months. It's finally happening haha!
|1 year 29 weeks ago||
Everyone on Twitter, go type in: "@drewsharp know your place" and see what pops up from 1/19/14. You'll enjoy it.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Give me:||
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Greg Roman?||
Anyone think or heard that he could follow Harbaugh here? I know that they had a tough year this year, but his name had been linked to some head coaching jobs in the past.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||So........||
I know I said this last year, but does the University of Michigan football team ever lose again? I've ventured out to 2023 in the schedule and just don't see a loss anywhere.
|1 year 30 weeks ago||Glenlivet. Make it a double.||
And lots of them.
|1 year 30 weeks ago||Anyone else?||
Anyone else find it funny that some reporters are using "Twitter" as a "source"? I don't trust any of these people anymore.
|1 year 30 weeks ago||It makes sense.||
McElwain recommended Nuss to Saban if I remember correctly. Would be interesting to see Nuss' pro-type offense with Treon Harris, however.
|1 year 31 weeks ago||I'm all for that.||
Whatever noise is good noise to me. I'd prefer human-made noise. I'm just pointing out that for quite a while now, with the exception of UTL 1, Ohio State 2011, and UTL 2, the stadium has really been a drag to go to. I drove up from the TN this year for the Penn State game and brought my brother with me - first game he had been to since 1991 - and he said to me during the game, "Man, I've heard LP Field way louder than this and it only seats 69,000."
I just kind of get embarrassed that 110,000 passionate Michigan fans are below the decibel level of 87,000 in Auburn, Alabama.
|1 year 31 weeks ago||Which one.||
Jim or Dick?
|1 year 31 weeks ago||Confused.||
Michigan is the only school in the nation, and trust me I've been to quite a few, that a blog would complain about "relentless noise" during a football game. Duh, it's a football game. It's not church. That's what is supposed to happen and since most of the alums are too good to stand up and cheer, filtering in noise is the next best thing.
We need filtered in noise currently because the place is not loud at all currently, unless you all continue to be okay with hearing announcers say "this is the most quiet 110,000 I've ever heard." Maybe if some of you would get off your asses and make some noise, Michigan would have a homefield advantage again it could be proud of. I cannot stand going to the Big House and being ridiculed because I stand up in row 10 and some 1986 alum is snickering behind me because I'm actually cheering.
|1 year 31 weeks ago||Every school is different.||
It depends on university policy and what the coach wants. Hoke re-instituted the freshmen living in dorms I believe. It will be up to the new coach on if that practice continues.
|1 year 32 weeks ago||2013 football season||
This is going to be exactly like the 2013 football season. We go into it expecting to compete for a championship and end up with a young, inexperienced, mistake-ridden team that is probably going to be on the bubble at like 19-13 at the end of the season.
The bright side - everyone returns next year.
|1 year 33 weeks ago||Playoff.||
|1 year 33 weeks ago||OSU||
Will lose to Wisconsin this week and it will be wonderful.
|1 year 33 weeks ago||He's not staying.||
But if he did, I'd carry on as usual and get my hopes up for 2015 just before they are wrecked on a Thursday night in Utah.
|1 year 33 weeks ago||Yeah.||
Because Alabama has been hit with crippling sanctions in the Saban era for both of those things.......................................................................
|1 year 33 weeks ago||Question.||
Why have so many people said, "defensive coordinator somewhere before he gets another head coaching job"? He's never been a coordinator so what magically makes him qualified to coordinate a defense after thirty years of not doing it?
|1 year 34 weeks ago||This wasn't hard IMO.||
There's one guy who has experience as an AD, experience with landing a big time head coach, with interest in the University of Michigan, and on the playoff committee: Jeff Long. He should've been choice number one. He should've been given whatever he wanted. He would've been a slam dunk hire for U of M.
|1 year 34 weeks ago||Big game!||
I know it's early in the season, but this team is so young that a win over #12 Villanova could really be a positive catapult for the entire season. A loss, while not monumental, would mean we still have a ways to go (which I think most of us already know.) Hopefully the youngsters can get the job done and take a major step forward.
|1 year 34 weeks ago||Agreed lol. BUT. BUT.||
Do they trade up to get him or do they just lose every game from here on out to get the "best player available in the draft" like we are all so accustomed to seeing?
|1 year 34 weeks ago||Well............||
What's the going rate for a 6'5, 230 pound TE/WR that can't block, can't catch, and not fast enough or physical enough to get any type of separation? He has 55 catches on the season, and I would guess 30 of those have come from screens.
|1 year 34 weeks ago||Who knows.||
The biggest thing we need is a QB that can make plays and not turn the ball over. None of our current guys have proven they can do that. Depending on who is hired as Head Coach, Malzone might end up a four year starter. His high school film looks better than Speight's and Shane's did. The 2015 season will depend largely on finding a QB that won't turn the ball over.
|1 year 35 weeks ago||The bad thing.||
That group still would possibly lose to this year's Kentucky team. They are loaded. I think only two teams have a shot to beat them in March: Michigan and Wisconsin. Both have shooters. Both have bigs that can shoot. Both can play five guys from behind the arc and neutralize some of Kentucky's size.
|1 year 35 weeks ago||It depends.||
If we are 7-5 with wins over Maryland and Ohio State, I'm all for Hoke coaching the bowl game and trying to get to 8-5. If we get to 6-6 with an ugly win over Maryland and a brutal loss to Ohio State, I'd think it'd be in both his and U-M's best interest for him to step down December 1st and let everyone move on.
Not only do you do Hoke the favor of letting him search for another job, but you also get a four week search for a new head coach as opposed to a two week search which ends with a MAC level coach just to save a two week recruiting class.
|1 year 35 weeks ago||Pinstripe Bowl.||
I'd actually be happy to see us beat Maryland and get in the Pinstripe Bowl vs Miami or someone like that.
|1 year 35 weeks ago||First time.||
First time I said, "Fire Hoke" was last year vs Nebraska. First time I said it and meant it was at Notre Dame this year. The team looked so unprepared, uninspired, and really showed no signs of young guys progressing.
|1 year 35 weeks ago||Yep.||
Felony larceny just means he had good taste by getting an expensive Apple. He could've went with the ACER in the next room and been much better off with the misdemeanor. Let's not make his first screw up out like he robbed a bank. He made a poor decision by taking a laptop out of a dorm room.
This second charge, if true, is obviously much worse. I look forward to him having his day in court and getting to explain his side of things. I will hold all judgement until the dispute is settled in a court of law.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||Darboh.||
Might be in the minority here, but all things considered, I think Amara has developed very nicely this season. Funchess has regressed, Chesson can't get open, Butt hasn't been targeted, Canteen is a true freshman, Drake Harris is hurt, none of the 2013's have panned out. Bunting/Ways are redshirting, so we have no idea how they'll be.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||Great choice.||
He totally slipped my mind, but he would actually be a nice addition. I'm familiar with Christobal from my time at Middle Tennssee State, and his teams were always fighters. He's also known in the South as a solid recruiter.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||My last resort.....||
I have been a K.C. Keeler fan for a while. He had a good run at Delaware and has led Sam Houston State to a 6-4 record in his first year there. He's won a National Championship and has been a winner at Rowan, Delaware, and now Sam Houston State. I believe he's 170-78 as a Head Coach in FCS and D3.
He runs a spread, no huddle offense but was a college linebacker which is his specialty. The obvious: he would need to be able to recruit at a high level and hire big time assistants to fix the offensive side of the ball - which he has never had to do. I don't think our defense would take a step back, but we'd still have the issue of transitioning to a no huddle offense.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||Bowl Game?||
SO YOU"RE TELLING ME THAT OUR GOALS ARE STILL IN FRONT OF US????????!!!!!!!!
|1 year 36 weeks ago||Not to support Rich Rod....||
But would it surprise you if I told you that Mr. Michigan Man Brady Hoke's offense is six spots below the worst ranking that Rich Rod's defense finished at.
RR's worst defense: 112th
Brady Hoke's 2014 offense: 118th
|1 year 36 weeks ago||Big picture.||
Does anyone look at that list and see more than two bowl wins for the Big Ten? If you do, please send over what you are drinking.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||Gallon.||
There is a major difference in getting open because you are fast or getting open because you are quick and a good route runner.
|1 year 37 weeks ago||Honestly.||
I think Funch has the potential to be one of the best ever to play here. He hasn't done that yet for a variety of reasons - bad QB play, bad OL play, case of I'm not going to really try to catch this pass. Definitely get it signed, but to me, Funch is more of a Jason Avant or Marcus Knight than an Anthony Carter or Braylon Edwards.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||Wait.||
What in the world does a car crash in 2007 have to do with a former player spouting off in 2014 about Michigan non-football players (i.e fans)? I lost my dad in 2007 also due to liver failure. Does that mean I get a free pass for saying every Michigan football player the last decade has been less than an expert and mediocre beyond belief? That's basically what Mealer was insinuating.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||Thanks, Dave.||
You made a disastrous football hire, but you at least made the facilites nice for Jim Harbaugh.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||Elliott Mealer.||
He sucked at the game of football, and in essence, symbolizes everything that is wrong with the Michigan football program. Highly ranked kid that never developed, set the program back a decade, and now shoots his mouth off.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||Hell.||
If we're gonna do it right, we might as well wear pink numbers like Oregon did four weeks ago. Then we can totally enjoy the disaster.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||The worst part....||
The bad thing is he had the talent to be one of the best. His seven game stretch from late 2012 to Notre Dame 2013 was on par with Heisman QB winning numbers. He lost confidence in his offensive line, and then he lost confidence in his WR's - other than Gallon. He also got banged up due to the offensive line in both 2013 and 2014 which took a huge part of his game away - scrambling.
I don't completely blame him "being a bad QB" on him. He was recruited for the spread. Of course, some of it is his fault. But let's be honest. He rarely has time to throw and when he does, we have nothing but 6'3 receivers that get no separation. He did miss Butt on the pick six vs MSU, but that was a rare occasion where he actually had a little time to throw and a receiver actually got open.
It's sad to see his career failing the way it is, but he will have a Master's Degree from the University of Michigan while facing insurmountable pressure and expectations on the football field. He will do great things. I'm sure of it.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||DG.||
Personally, I'll celebrate the career of Devin Gardner. He has been through so much at Michigan. He's had two head coaches, three offensive coordinators, two of the worst offensive lines in the history of Michigan football, played two positions, and given his life to the university basically.
If he can stay healthy, I could see him playing five or six years in the NFL at WR and then moving on to broadcasting or coaching. He's a great individual, and I definitely know he will succeed in whatever he decides to do.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||Not going to lie.||
I'm quick to blame coaching when elite talent fails, but I really didn't think the game plan was awful. The execution was atrocious, however. That's mostly on the players.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||Can someone.||
Anyone, please explain to me how Blake Countess "earned" the #2 jersey. He's now been displaced as a starter in just another debacle by the Hoke regime.

I can promise you one thing: with General Motors demise in the mitten, there are a ton of us in the South. I went to high school 375 kids in a rural Tennessee high school. Around 35-45 of us were from Michigan, and we all sported the MAIZE & BLUE.
You'd think out of 30+ that actually cared about sports, there would be one Spartan fan..... NOPE. Not a single Spartan fan did I have to put up with. GO BLUE today; GO BLUE tomorrow; GO BLUE forever.

The Titans did a great service to Lewan by drafting Mettenberger. /s.
The two are together all the time in Nashville which is great, since they both have had legal problems in their past. Mettenberger was already sucker punched at a bar in Nashville while Lewan was present.

Why not? The guy cares about player safety, is a football guy, an elequoent speaker, and has 30+ years of NCAA experience. He'd be a homerun hire to run the greatest conference ever known to ESPN. /s

There were very few open seats at halftime. It was a fantastic show to see in person.

At the end of the first half, Hoke could've called a timeout on 4th down to punt with eighteen seconds left. Instead, he lets the clock run down to three seconds... then sends the punt return team on the field like Penn State is going to punt with three seconds left. It was rather embarrassing.

I actually liked them being there in person as a one off alternative. No harm, no foul, the kids were pumped up, and we won.

Happy to be here from TN! It was well worth it.
