You know, that was my first thought when this whole thing came out. I think he was just trying to add fuel to the "Te'o for Heisman" flames... Certainly helped, you can't definitively say he wouldn't have finished second otherwise, but likewise you can't immediately dismiss the possibility that he might have ridden this story to New York either. |

People began fund raisers to raise money for cancer awareness, but that didn't go to Manti, that went to research centers. "Dan Tudesco set up an online account at fundraising website indiegogo.com on Jan. 9. His goal was to raise $5,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in memory of Lennay Kekua... He says the more than $4,300 raised will still go to the leukemia group." (ABCNews) "Tudesco said he and three friends got the fundraising idea after seeing a video that went viral of Tudesco holding his head in dismay during the Irish's 42-14 loss to Alabama in the national championship game on Jan. 7. The goal was to turn the loss -- and the player's sudden popularity -- into something positive. 'I think we were all kind of disappointed in the result of the game ... and the Manti story was very inspirational,' Tudesco told The Associated Press on Thursday....Tudesco said he doesn't know Te'o personally and had no contact with him or Notre Dame before setting up the fundraiser. He said money raised by his fundraiser will be held in reserve by indiegogo and released directly to the charity at the end of the campaign." (ESPN) |

I love the idea of legend jerseys. I think it's much better than retiring jerseys for a few reasons:
That being said I believe that this should not be done without the permission of the former player/family of the former player whos jersey is being retired </argument> <old guard yelling "Ramble Ramble Ramble!!"> |

| 1 year 28 weeks ago | Unfortunately or fortunately |
There are no walmart Spartans, because anybody with a second grade education gets into MSU. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | I've gotten into countless arguments over this |
with Ohio State fans, and inevitably their arguments deteriorate to either "Well it happens everywhere" or "We're still gunna beat you, because Michigan sucks!". To the first, my response is always the same; "Until you can prove that it does, that statement is invalid. You can't excuse it because you think it happens everywhere. It very well may happen everywhere, but if you don't know that it's not a valid point." The latter of these arguments is far simpler to refute, "We're 6-0 man, what's your record?" that usually shuts them up. |

|
| 1 year 32 weeks ago | Put aside the fact that Denard |
is much faster, has a better arm, and is more athletic/agile than Martinez and you still have the fact that Denard would rather get banged up than leave yards on the field... his runs either end with a TD or an actually tackle, not him sliding because he sees a defender withing 20 yards of him. |

| 1 year 32 weeks ago | Dantonio's smug grin |
I don't see it |
| 1 year 32 weeks ago | But a lot of his complaints about Minny's defense |
have to do with fundementals... If you can't teach a player to tackle, you don't belong in coaching. I'm sure Kill and his staff are decent coaches, but if your players aren't tackling right, you don't necessarily scrap the defense... Michigan's defense is a great example of that, we were awful, and until this year I can't remember the last time I saw a group of winged helmets converge on the ball and tackle well but that's what they're doing now. |

not exactly surprised at it. I rather expected some of it: namely them claiming he's arrogant and pompous because he's from Ohio, but likes Michigan... mostly because they say that about everyone who happens to be from Ohio and isn't absolutely obsessed with OSU. It's especially not surprising when you consider that this is the same fanbase that has been wishing ACL tears and placing voodoo hexes on Tom Stroble and Kyle Kalis. Not really anything to back any of his statements up, he just believes Hoke is pompous because he has the audacity to want a Big Ten Title while not bleeding scarlet and gray... honestly that is probably one of the most hypocritical arguments I've ever heard. "You're arrogant because you said you're going to compete for the Big Ten Championship... only we get to do that!" I wouldn't pay it much heed though, because at the end of the day they have nothing on Hoke. Calling him pompous is pretty baseless and hypocritical, calling him out because he is 48-51 as a head coach shows a lack of research as it doesn't take a genius to see that he led two dramatic turnarounds of two abysmal programs to get to 48-51. Which really only leaves them with fat jokes, which are a sign of desperation. |
| 1 year 42 weeks ago | "No Coach is bigger than The Team" |
Being 100% behind RR and 100% behind Hoke are not mutually exclusive in my opinion... I wasn't happy with Rodriguez's treatment here or his dismissal, I really wasn't happy when we hired Brady Hoke, but he was so masterful in his introductory press conference - that did a lot to gain my confidence, the rest has come as a result of both our amazing recruiting class and the fact that Hoke is a bigger homer than me. |
| 1 year 42 weeks ago | Agreed |
I was always a huge RR supporter, but now that he's gone I wish him happy trails & I'll definitely root for wherever he ends up next. However that being said I've been 100% behind Hoke for a few months now (His intro conference was a huge step, but I didn't really get fully behind him until he landed us the best linebacker class in the country) |

I have a hard time enjoying OSU and MSU schadenfreude, because of all their rediculous assumtions and moronic comments. It's why I don't argue sports with OSU/MSU fans, and it's why I don't debate politics with people. Case in point: I got into an argument with an OSU fan who was trying to argue that because Michigan's defense was terrible last year, our offense was too. No matter how many statistics or facts I gave him, he wouldn't accept it. |

Stop being an arrogant pretentious ass. And I'm so tired of people looking down people who attend/attended Junior College, what's so plebian about getting your Gen-Eds out of the way for half the price? I'd argue some Junior Colleges are better than some 4-year schools. Not that it matters, when you graduate from said 4-year school your degree doesn't say "BTW, attended Junior College for the first two years". |
| 1 year 51 weeks ago | Interesting theory |
It would be interesting to see it play out... My belief, given Gee's comments about hoping Tressel doesn't fire him and their fan bases insistance that this isn't a big deal/Tressel didn't do anything wrong, is that Smith and Gee won't fire Tressel before the sanctions, but that he won't be the head coach come 2012. Whether that means they fire him after the sanctions, or after the season I don't know, but I just don't see either of them having the backbone to make the call on their own. Gee may have made his comment in jest, but it either shows that he is a spineless little worm or that Tressel does in fact have some dirt on him and he is a spineless little worm. Regardless I believe Gee will try to bail out the ship with a little tin pail, unfortunately for him, he's not trying to save "The African Queen", he's trying to save the Titanic. |

| 1 year 51 weeks ago | I don't think you can fairly compare our reactions with theirs |
Like you said, "I haven't seen anything similar in OSU's case". We were probably guilty of some shooting of the messanger (e.g. Trent) but since we haven't been charged with anything as damning or with as much program killing potential as this it's not a fair comparison. In our situation the allegations were grossly exaggerated, whereas in their situation the original allegations appear to be just the tip of the iceberg. I'd like to think that in the same situation we as a fanbase would act differently, but there is no way of knowing that. it's all just Apples to Oranges really. |

"The rules prohibit athletes and their relatives from receiving discounts that are not offered to the general public." But this offer was extended to the general public: anyone who brings in an authentic signed OSU game warn jersey and tickets to the National Championship/Fiesta Bowl can trade them in for a lightly used car. /s |

man, M. Night Shyamalan is getting anxious, usually the twists come towards the end but we're only half way through and already we found out the kindly old man who never did anything wrong in his life is a sleazy cheater... I can't wait to see what other twists there are, the anticipation is killing me! |

being named to the academic all-conference team is a bigger embarassment to the B1G than our (the conference's, not just UM's) cumulative bowl record for the past few seasons and MSU's criminal record combined. This may sound clichéd, but I am so glad he picked tsio... can you imagine how embarassing it would be for someone to have posted his paper online had he chosen Michigan? |

I think I get it now. That seems like too much effort for something that wouldn't really help out at least for big time programs... I can see how it'd effect smaller programs or programs looking to rebound, but the author's fear of it solidifying Texas's stranglehold on instate recruiting doesn't really make sense as I don't see how it would help consistant powerhouses. |

Keith Rivers and Rey Maualuga, for me it comes down to this: If the player turns out to be a gamer, you forget where they went to school, or at least bury it away in the back of you mind. If the player doesn't pan out you just end up hating them even more. Which is fine, they deserve to suck, after all they did play for [insert team here]. |
| 2 years 3 weeks ago | For a little bit my Bengals |
were looking like Michigan South, with Hall, Trent, Jones, and Perry |
| 2 years 3 weeks ago | What I find more funny are the stats for this season |
Mouton: 117 tackles (59 solo, 52 asst), 2 sacks, 1 FF, 2 ints Jones: 105 tackles (49 solo, 56 asst), 1 sack, 3 FF, 2 ints Jones may have contributed more throughout his career but his stats look very similar to Mouton's. Which considering how elite Jones was (especially if he was supposedly the best LB in the country) I'd say that says quite a bit towards how well Jonas played this year. |

Once, I read this word I had to read the rest of your post in a Vicini voice. That aside, I agree, but I think in the end this all looks like they're going to have him "fall on his sword" and go down for this one, with little backlash coming down on the program itself |

is Tom Brady not in this bracket? The guy was unstoppable last season, you'd think the first unanimous NFL MVP would be in the running. Of course, then again Madden sucks balls, so... whatever, I voted for Vick. |

I moved to a new school that year and noticed that everybody was obsessed with Ohio State... once November came along they all started talking about this team they hated, Michigan. Anyway I decided to watch The Game, and was completely enamored by the awesomeness of the helmets. And, as fate would have it, Michigan beat OSU that year. I've been a huge fan ever since |

I think that referring to OSU as O$U or the Suckeyes is equivalent to them calling us scUM or Meatchicken (incidentally the most retarded excuse for an insult ever). It just comes off as stupid and ends up negating whatever point you're making. You can write the most intelligent argument ever but the moment you put in something like this or "DickRod" or "cHoke" your argument is all for not and you look like a moronic jackass. Incidentally what are everbody's thoughts on using "tsio"? I like it, but that's just me. |

I see exactly where the division is made, you're either using the distributive property and coming out with 2 (like I am) or you're not and coming out with 288 (like you are). And clearly it's a point of contention between people who are much better at math than I am (as Ti keeps waffling, and my parents are using the distributive property, whereas others aren't). But when it all comes down to it I'm not heading into a career field that will demand the answer to this problem. At this point I'm spending way too much energy arguing something I'm not all that interested in. So I'm just not going to argue it any further. |
| 2 years 6 weeks ago | As I said my Ti-83 |
said 288, the Ti-85 said 2, the Ti-86 said 288, Texas instruments can't figure it out. |
| 2 years 6 weeks ago | My Ti-83 |
said 288, so that meants even Texas Instruments can't decide... regardless I'm done arguing this point it's going nowhere |
| 2 years 6 weeks ago | "you're sounding like one of |
"you're sounding like one of the RCMB posters" I take offense to that, I have yet to call anyone an idiot simply because I came out with a different answer than they did. But I will agree that it's better if the argument gets dropped. |

"You can't compare the nuances of human language to the hard and fast rules of mathematics. They're not even in the same ballpark."
I find at least in this case that they're very comparable. The very fact that people can't agree on the way in which this problem is done tells me that google isn't necessarily the best source. |

I'm not going to pretend to be a math genius (I know what I'm doing though), and since both my parents are mathematicians, my father was an Airforce aerospace engineer for twenty years, and my mother was an Airforce Electrical engineer for 10 years and still teaches math when both of them, who have something like 5 math degrees between them, agree on something like this I'm inclined to believe them. |

NCAA: How can you be so Obtuse?
