Yes, they are related.
For biological relationships between living things on this planet, the only question is how closely related.
Me and Harbaugh? Related.
You and Tom Brady or Giselle? Related.
Me and a butterfly or oak tree? Related, more distantly.
Always a matter of degree.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||When I was growing up||
When I was growing up my old man used to characterize football programs by top position group.
USC: Running backs
UM: Offensive Line
I remember Michigan just steamrolling teams, especially in th 4th quarter when things got ridiculous. Selective memory and all, but it is really odd to think how long it has been since OL has been a strength instead of worry.
It was one of my great hopes with the Harbaugh hire that we could do what his Stanford teams did. It may take a while...
|16 weeks 1 day ago||Agreed on Athens||
Agreed on Athens. My wife is from there and I visit often. It is a great college town and great gameday scene. There does not need to be funny stuff for recruits to choose UGA over UM.
On a related note, I would love to see a home and home between the two schools.

Hard to believe there are so many ignoramuses on this site. Instead of mis-quoting Newsweek from the 1970s, why don't you go read an actual science journal?
The models are matching the data with alarming precision. In fact when the models are wrong they are too conservative---the rate of change is greater than feared.
And what is this absolute hooey that scientists are making this up? For what purpose? Careers would be made disproving ACG as well, but the data is clear. Simply unbelievable how dumb and ignorant so many people are--swallowing the big oil propaganda hook, line and sinker.

Agree the refereeing sucked, and that this is not new.
Questions, maybe for a future entry (not by me...)
How much do BIG refs get paid? Is this higher/lower than other Power5 conferences?
How much training, continuing education is required of them? Again, is the BIG on par with other conferences?
Could we expect better refereeing with better training/pay? Or is this just the nature of the game?

|3 years 6 weeks ago||I appreciate the attempt to be balanced here. BUT||
There are clearly both environmental and genetic components. I would argue that there is not "a" genetic abnormality, but rather a very large suite of genotypes that can predispose toward autism. If it were "a" single allele (gene variant) then we would ahve found it by now. When you combine a very large number of predisposing gene variants with environmental effects that themselves may vary with genotype, you get things that are very hard to nail down, like autism, adult onset diabetes, multiple sclerosis and on and on. You are right that there well may be an immune system connection (overly simplified: growing up in too sterile of environments seems to be causing us all sorts of problems).
That said, one envrionmental area that has been looked at extensively is the possible effect of vaccines. NO FLIPPING EVIDENCE AT ALL. NONE! It is not balanced to say that since it is complex and we do not know everything that everything is on the table. We have ruled out vaccines as causing autism. It is a deadly suggestion and not part of a balanced treatment.

|3 years 33 weeks ago||Flakes||
1. Devin is going to be a national star. He has poise in the pocket and turns sacks into first downs. As other have noted, the Vince Young comparisons are spot on. Maybe they should stop and he will just be Devin Gardner. More outings like this and Heisman talk will ramp up. The derp play sucked but a safety could have been 2 +7 instead of 7 right?
2. Jeremy Gallon. Wow.
3. Brady Hoke (shrugs and smiles) is WAAAYYYY more likeable than Brian Kelly (did you see the f bombs launched at his players early on?).
4. Notre Dame looked pretty damn good.

|3 years 34 weeks ago||Sort of what I meant||
, but ill-stated on my part. I was a youngun' and the early losses hurt. It got burned in during the 4 run stretch.
|3 years 34 weeks ago||Notre Dame||
Far and away it's Notre Dame #1 for me. I cannot stand the program, their smarmy entitled players, asshole coaches, and fawning press. That feeling got seated early for me with their dominance over us when the series resumed in the late 70s. I simply had to root for other teams to stop them when we could not. I would like them to lose every game forever. I do pull for BIG teams over non-conference foes to help with conference image and the prestige of winning the conference, so no overriding hate for OSU or MSU. Within the BIG I typically want UM to be the one to beat OSU, so I do not explicitly pull against them (or little bro for that matter). Outside of the BIG I have to say USC and UCLA can lose every game and I would laugh (again bad memories against them). I have UW, Oregon and UGA connections so cannot hate there. I guess Alabama could lose every game and that would be fun. Fat chance.
|3 years 34 weeks ago||I'll have to investigate ;)||
But that playcalling never gets old. It had to be what every ND fan was thinking, minus the multiple f bombs.
|3 years 34 weeks ago||Right||
An Irish Catholic school with a butchered french name in the middle of Amish country.
|3 years 34 weeks ago||To hell with Notre Dame!||
I actually despise them more than that school down south. Losses to them suck worse for me than losses to other rivals. I ALWAYS root for ND to lose (which thankfully they do a lot) and I typically root for any BIG team against nonconference foes. The OSU program may be extremely shady and has too many players tending toward thugs, but the ND program and players are smarmy, whiny, privileged, pampered and thoroughly overrated. Here's hoping for another 38-0 rout this year. This string of nail biters has gone on too long.
|3 years 34 weeks ago||Thank you for that.||
How in the hell did you find that link?
|3 years 35 weeks ago||Yeah but||
Is your girlfriend REAL? Can we believe her?
|3 years 35 weeks ago||It's a great shot.||
Is Gallon bobbling a bit after contact, or did that Iowa DB make serious contact before the catch?
|3 years 35 weeks ago||Agreed||
In general too many pro-ND moments.
But in the OP's defense, Lennay really liked the ending.
|3 years 35 weeks ago||Gallon||
"He'll say he's taller, but he's lying".
|3 years 36 weeks ago||Actually||
both spellings are correct.
|3 years 37 weeks ago||ATM or Bathtub.||
Along with every scene above.
|3 years 38 weeks ago||Quote about Gardner..||
Love it, but thoughts on who that opposing coach is?
Without doing any past recruiting research I think it's Pat Fitzgerald.
|3 years 38 weeks ago||This is great!||
My 3 year old daughter saw it over my shoulder and now it has altered her view of how the world works.
|3 years 39 weeks ago||This and Campbell=perfect antidote||
to the continuing ennui posts.
Forget the sad past. There are not strong enough shades to face this bright future.
|3 years 40 weeks ago||This is just mean spirited||
think of poor Lennay's feelings.
|3 years 40 weeks ago||Maybe the NCAA can then void that hit||
and we somehow win the Outback?
|3 years 40 weeks ago||Thank you!||
for the trip down memory lane.
Nice to see the rare footage. AC=AwesomeCatch.
|3 years 41 weeks ago||Nice analysis!||
Not too surprising as you stated but nice to see the trend quantified.
Can't wait to see DG tear it up!
|3 years 41 weeks ago||This post made me think of||
creating a personal bracket for my own life's worst moments and how much fun that woud be.
Always good for the soul to dwell on hard times.
Can't wait until we get to relive the Horror (or me the time my dog got hit by a car).
|3 years 46 weeks ago||Yes!||
Just figured out the problem with my golf swing. The whole drop it from the back of the neck part. That is legal right?
|3 years 47 weeks ago||!!!||

is another important MSU market.....
|4 years 2 days ago||What do these guys stand to earn?||
Are there league minimums?
|4 years 2 weeks ago||Great pick-up!||
Based on comments in this thread I just went over to RCMB for some schadenfreude.
At first I thought it was a parody site, but those guys are serious! One thread over there started with the complete conviction that UM must be actively cheating to have landed Harris.
Sort of pathetic of them, but Go Blue!
|4 years 2 weeks ago||Amen||
|4 years 3 weeks ago||That sideline play||
is what I was referrring to. Shoulda been more clear. BIG save.
|4 years 3 weeks ago||Don't forget||
the out of bounds save late!
|4 years 3 weeks ago||McGary=Lewan||
Having too much fun to leave.
|4 years 3 weeks ago||Nice write up!||
Great to see the bench come in and perform. What a TEAM!!
McGary owning it. GRIII stepping up (light is ALMOST ON!) Man, he hesitated a few too many times when he should have taken a shot or blasted it to the hole, but he is coming around and tomorrow I think the light is fully on.
SO MUCH FUN!
|4 years 3 weeks ago||Can I also say||
I love this technology! If one of you geniuses could post something similar for highlights of the 1989 run---low resolution and all-- you would be sure to win accolades. Glen Rice raining them in? Rumeal's ordeal at the line?
|4 years 3 weeks ago||Looking back||
(which is what we're doing I know), it's Spike. That sequence made me almost text my Gator fan friend to gloat in a game made for gloating. Looking forward, it's Burke to GRIII. That sort of play is what's going to win the championship.
|4 years 3 weeks ago||Who's turn is it? Robinson?||
Throughout the tournament, Burke has obviously been steady, cool and spectacular, and McGary's been a consistent machine. That's going to continue. Stauskas blew up (or blew back up) against Florida, but we cannot count on his going 6 for 6 again. So who's turn is it? Hardaway or Robinson finding a groove will be enough to win this game. Either would be fine, but I'd really love for it to be Robinson. Dude has so much talent taking it to the hole, but seems too shy to use it consistently. A "lights on" weekend for him is what I'm really hoping to see. Blow that zone apart. Go blue!
|4 years 4 weeks ago||Love it!||
Will power is a real thing, not just a cliche, and not to be underestimated. Burke has it in spades, and it seems to be infectious on his teammates. Go Blue!
|4 years 4 weeks ago||Stauskas||
getting going again would seal the deal.
|4 years 4 weeks ago||My good friend is a huge Florida fan||
and he's pretty scared for tomorrow. I think he should be.
|4 years 4 weeks ago||Still cannot believe that comeback!||
I had several heart attacks all over again watching that.
|4 years 4 weeks ago||Thank you for posting this||
Gotta rewatch that comeback!
