Based on comments in this thread I just went over to RCMB for some schadenfreude. At first I thought it was a parody site, but those guys are serious! One thread over there started with the complete conviction that UM must be actively cheating to have landed Harris. Sort of pathetic of them, but Go Blue!

Having too much fun to leave. |
| 10 weeks 2 days ago | Nice write up! |
Great to see the bench come in and perform. What a TEAM!! McGary owning it. GRIII stepping up (light is ALMOST ON!) Man, he hesitated a few too many times when he should have taken a shot or blasted it to the hole, but he is coming around and tomorrow I think the light is fully on. SO MUCH FUN! Go Blue! |
| 10 weeks 6 days ago | Can I also say |
I love this technology! If one of you geniuses could post something similar for highlights of the 1989 run---low resolution and all-- you would be sure to win accolades. Glen Rice raining them in? Rumeal's ordeal at the line? |
| 10 weeks 6 days ago | Looking back |
(which is what we're doing I know), it's Spike. That sequence made me almost text my Gator fan friend to gloat in a game made for gloating. Looking forward, it's Burke to GRIII. That sort of play is what's going to win the championship. |
| 10 weeks 6 days ago | Who's turn is it? Robinson? |
Throughout the tournament, Burke has obviously been steady, cool and spectacular, and McGary's been a consistent machine. That's going to continue. Stauskas blew up (or blew back up) against Florida, but we cannot count on his going 6 for 6 again. So who's turn is it? Hardaway or Robinson finding a groove will be enough to win this game. Either would be fine, but I'd really love for it to be Robinson. Dude has so much talent taking it to the hole, but seems too shy to use it consistently. A "lights on" weekend for him is what I'm really hoping to see. Blow that zone apart. Go blue! |
| 11 weeks 12 hours ago | Love it! |
Will power is a real thing, not just a cliche, and not to be underestimated. Burke has it in spades, and it seems to be infectious on his teammates. Go Blue! |

That ND uniform is nearly perfect. I'd only add some way to commemorate Weis (wait, maybe the uniform is not big enough for that image) and/or Kelly (wait, maybe purple and green clash). Anyway, I hope they wear them! |

The only thing in football better than ND losing is UM winning. God, Kelly comes across badly during a loss and Holtz in the studio after the game looked like he had been hit by a truck. Fun game for ND unfans like me.
|
| 1 year 27 weeks ago | A bit late with this but: |
Ann Arbor-Gainesville 1040 miles Tuscon-Gainesville 1917 miles Central/South Florida would be similary different. Pensacola cuts the margin to only 600 miles. Not that this changes your central point. |

I'd love to see it all fall in place. Beat Texas for the MNC! Odds? |
| 1 year 29 weeks ago | Writing as a Professor |
, I advise an early, courteous email explaining your absence, and your willingness to go the extra mile to get caught up. For most profs that should do the trick. Of course some profs might not give a damn about football, or might even be hostile to the idea of accommodating a football game. There is very little recourse in that unfortunate situation--it is highly unlikely that the institution steps in. Again, an early courteous email will uncover that situation too. Also consider that any hint of entitlement might turn off even sympathetic profs. The "email the professor and tell them to deal with it" comment above, while maybe in jest, is terrible prof-management advice. Let them know you value the academics first. And as a last straw, you could always try bribing them. Everyone bribes people ;) |
| 1 year 29 weeks ago | OSU was just fired up for The Game. |
Back in the day it was always throw out the teams' respective records--The Game is always competitive. This just show things are back to normal. Hail! |

| 1 year 29 weeks ago | Amen! |
God that was wrenching, but totally worth it! |
| 1 year 29 weeks ago | Michigan has never won The Game in the history of this blog. |
That's a new perspective for me. Damn we better win this one. I like the prediction. I do not see Hoke running up the score, but I'd sure take a repeat of last week. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Not sure we match up that well against Georgia |
They are on a roll and look to be the SEC runners up.
|
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | They are a fine team |
who happen to choke a lot. They also have a fine coach who happens to turn purple occasionally. Be nice to them. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | both might happen |
Badgers whoop them in the championship game and then the Dawgs whoop them in a Bowl Game. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | 9-7 |
at the half sounds about right. I'd double that to 18-14 for the final score. Lots of fun ways to get to 18 points! |
| 1 year 32 weeks ago | I was impressed how |
the 2QB sets progressed through the game. I think Toussaint's td was set up nicely by the previous (not so successful) 2QB plays. Truly looking forward to more of those formations! |
| 1 year 33 weeks ago | Madison is rather like Ann Arbor |
but as you say it is bigger, with lakes. It is also without a nearby decaying metropolis and it is distinctly more left leaning. I have not been to all the B1G campus towns (missing Happy Valley and now Lincoln), but Madison might be the nicest. There are good reasons it always makes the list of the top places to live in the country. |
| 1 year 33 weeks ago | 70% chance we beat OSU? |
I hope you're right on that, but I would not put money on those chances. Interesting analysis however. |
| 1 year 33 weeks ago | Big10 is tough to figure |
but I think Wisconsin is still the best team, even with two conference losses. Their path to the conference championship game might be too narrow, but if they get there, I would wager that they beat whoever comes out of the Legends. |
| 1 year 33 weeks ago | It would have been fun |
to see RR's UM offense behind a quarterback with more than one year as a starter. It does seem like timing issues are critical and RR was very unlucky in what he inherited. Anyway...bygones (and the defense did suck). |
| 1 year 47 weeks ago | Excellent! |
Thanks for the post. I cannot wait! I was immediately hooked last season and during the off season I went back and watched probably every zombie movie that was ever made. TWD stands among the very best of the genre (original Dawn of the Dead is the best). Plus I was Steven Yeun's (Glenn) professor his freshman year in college so there is added personal satisfaction in the show's success. |
| 2 years 44 weeks ago | so excellent! |
+1 |
| 2 years 44 weeks ago | Love it! |
I'd wager Tony gets more than one Big Ten Championship and one appearance (OK with the W!) in a MNC game. |
| 2 years 45 weeks ago | Yes. Act with confidence and that breeds more confidence. |
I love this move. It hearkens to the days of scheduling FSU and Colorado and UCLA and Washington and Oregon. Sure there were some real gut wrenching heartbreaks, but there were also some miracles. And they were nationally important games--like Michigan should have. I believe we will beat Alabama since we ( on average) own the SEC. |
| 2 years 45 weeks ago | That second line is damn funny! |
Now I have reason to respect Mr. Jones |
| 2 years 45 weeks ago | I am equally shocked. |
But the hand-taped part is very old school and cool. That's a skill that should not be allowed to fade--the man needs an apprentice. A Michigan Man apprentice. Surely some fine young MGoBlog reader needs a job next summer. |
| 2 years 45 weeks ago | Love the positive attitude! |
(And no calling out of teammates either!) |
| 2 years 45 weeks ago | It's hard to spin these |
It's hard to spin these comments postively. I liked the previous quotes about everyone being "all in for the team". But referring to teammates as diseased does not seem to make for good chemistry. |
| 3 years 4 days ago | Brian needs to start a pool! |
Whoever first picks the eventual divisions gets extra special bragging rights. On another thread it was determined that there are only 462 ways to do two 6 team divisions so my guess is that at least one person around here will be right sooner or later. |
| 3 years 4 days ago | Love the idea |
of a traditional PSU vs Nebraska on the same day at UM-OSU to close out the season! It would make up for the clunkiness of non-geography based divisions. |
| 3 years 5 days ago | Looks like it's over for now |
Texas is for certain staying in the Big 12(10). Onto plan B for the Pac10 and the Big 10(12) is looking sweet with the Nebraska pick-up. I think Delany is smiling with how this is turning out. |
| 3 years 1 week ago | bingo! |
bingo! Let's break down the pros and cons of each of them. |
| 3 years 1 week ago | This is the best idea |
in this whole thread! |
| 3 years 1 week ago | Pac10 Website: Colorado Officially In |
Damn! So much for being proactive. |
| 3 years 1 week ago | Not so sure Delany's been outflanked here |
Assuming Nebraska to the Big10 happens, it is likely only the first move of a multi-move game. And it looks like a smart one. It forces action from other conferences--Big12/Pac10 obviously and then Pac10 and then SEC and then Big East--that will likely net the Big10 what it really wants (ND), but could not get right away. And if not, well then a 12 team conference with Nebraska is still pretty sweet. As a Big10 fan, I'd rather the conference be proactive and start the whole process than be reactive to the Pac10. I think when the dust is settled this will look like a brilliant opening move. Texas was never happening. A 14 team conference with Nebraska, ND, and one of several other eastern schools? Nice conference! We could not get that in one swoop, but move by move it will happen. Unless of course this is all bogus news..... |
