This whole sitting at a computer reading MGoBlog IS JUST A DREAM!!! What if there IS no Tacopants?!

Honestly, no. I have no plans to pull some cheesy sitcom solution or comic book ret-con to wrap this storyline. Without going all exclusive story, I can say that this idea is as old as the strip itself. Last January I had thoughts of putting a character inside the Glick to interact with caricatures of players and staff. My initial concept was a new character, perhaps a cousin, with a bizarre threshold for pain that earned the spot. I dropped it simply because I didn't want to start adding new characters so early in the game.

And then I kind of forgot about it until a few weeks ago. When the writers started talking about spring practice it hit me-- and I just thought I could streamline the idea by finding a way to make it Desmond. It won't be a permanent development-- but I'm toying with the idea of keeping him on the team for next season. What do you guys think... Finish it now or let him play in the fall?

Sorry... Last year I read a great article about how some of the industry pro's of the past write the script to fill the balloon-- meaning, they put the balloon into the artwork and then tried to choose just the right words to get their point across AND fill up the balloon in a visually pleasing manner at the same time.

Somebody's gonna go after those phone records at some point-- if I were a betting man I'd put good money on one of the reporters that did a sit-down and feels humiliated by the whole thing.

If there in fact was some girl that he sat on the phone with all night discussing his hopes and dreams, certainly she's gonna come out at some point, probably in some exclusive paid interview, book deal, or otherwise a cash grab. Unless, that is, she's already been given a sizeable sum to vanish, as it were.

Lies produce more lies, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the 'truths' of the case revealed this week may very well be retracted as the story continues to unfold. Perhaps Swarbrick himself may end up selling the kid up the river and discussing how the ND athletic community was lied to by Te'o in a final effort to distance the Golden Dome from this whole thing.

But yeah, the OP is right-- if he is the victim he claims to be, it's time to pony up some proof.

Now that the issue has been resolved, I'd like to make a brief statement. While I am a contracted designer for the MGoStore and help promote it within this site and beyond, I am not its proprietor, business manager or owner. As far as this issue was concerned, it was not my call, and i refrained to comment out of respect for those who have indeed made the appropriate decision for everyone.



Secondly, when I did create the design, I was not aware of the Tae Odoms design. All apologies to him and his charity... I give my word that there was no intent to steal on anyone else's endeavors let alone a charitable pursuit.



Finally, I'd like to address Turd Ferguson's animosity towards me, presumably the result of his thinking I was refusing to acknowledge him. I apologize if you felt slighted or ignored, but I had no intent to betray any business partners or partnerships just because you'd called me out. And as for the avatar thing, I took that stance (and defend it) because I created that artwork specifically to be my signature image. Plenty of other readers use my work as their avatar and I have no issues with this at all, but I'd like to reserve rights to the little #60 Lego guy b/c I'll likely go back to it someday. I hope that provides some understanding to my reasoning there.

The video at least confirms that it's still more or less ND old gold, albeit a very reflective old old that showed up pure bright yellow gold in the Facebook pics. It's still bad, but at least the colors seem to be more on point.

Well, not really, but while checking out Bolden's tweet about the honor of pulling on a UM jersey, I noticed something.



The number 5s are now hooked at the middle terminal, like Iowa's if you're not sure what I mean. Confirmed it by looking at Mealer's sleeve digits as well. Maybe it's something only the designers or typography junkies can appreciate or care about, but that's no minor aesthetic change AFAIC. And no, I for one don't necessarily care for it.

I'd be lying if I said that was a conscious decision.  Truthfully there are occasions that I forget that other people are right handed, haha.  This strip was one of them, I suppose.

a.) I wear medium, sometimes L depending on the shirt. And I'm not a small guy. I hear you on the Hoke sizes though...



b.) Dreads are untouchable as per the athletic dept. if anything we do reminds even a blind tree sloth of Denard in the slightest way, we're in violation ad the school is too if they fail to respond.



c.) I don't really have a C. Just looks weird with only an A and a B.

In other news, #39 HOUMA.  Like it.

It's not bad... we knew the NW stripe was going to be prominent, but I didn't anticipate this.  Actually there was all kind of talk that it was going to be arched, like the architecture in Evanston or something to that effect.

Looks better on the home and the away, obviously, because there's less contrast between the purple & black than purple & white.  Purple is a high value color, which means it's closer to black than white, which allows it to blend in better and therefore helps those white numbers pop.  The purple on the white distances itself more from its white ground, tricking your eye into conceiving that the stripes are part of the numbers rather than the background. The result may very well tamper with the viewer's ability to recognize the numeric shapes.

In other words, the white's won't look as good on TV.  I also think the whole thing will take another hit if and when the players aren't wearing the base layer.  Thoese sleeves certainly help sell the stripe motif, and I'm curious to see how it will look without them.

Still, not bad.  UnderArmour's hell bent on innovation... but at least they've learned a bit of restraint since last year.

An honorable mention would have gone to the year (2008?) were they put the online Teambuilder into play... I used to create custom vector logos for my own teams and design uniforms and stadiums based on the artwork to create literally my own program... Too bad the online component was constantly malfunctioning and 'losing' my uploads.  Grrrrrr, still sour about that.

As for the late-in-the-day publish, it's essentially a double strip and took a whole lot longer than I anticipated.  Plus there was some considerable detail necessary for today's strip. Curly hair, the starry firmament, etc.

But I feel like I was well represented-- I counted at least 4 of my shirts just in a brief scan of the album.

As for ProfitGoBlue... actually a great question.  I've actually taught a lecture/discussion on that very topic, whether creativity is learned or innate.  When I have more time I'll give you my thoughts.
