When Nike was in the picture they sold Tom Brady Orange Bowl throwbacks (with Brady on the back) and I bought (pre-scandal) a 1989 Rumeal Robinson throwback with the name on the back. Now I wish I could remove his name from the jersey . . . |
| 1 year 8 weeks ago | Why I'm afraid |
First he's crazy, you can't guard against that. Second, maybe of equal importance, I believe he is a former golden gloves champion. Two great reasons in my opinion to stay far out of his way. |
| 1 year 9 weeks ago | Wow |
15 years gone and he STILL has great abs. The whole thing is a bit strange. When Dre left Death Row the relations between he and Tupac were less than ideal to put it mildly. . . Odd to read that Dre was the driving force behind this, strange how death/time changes feelings (no judgment).

Over under on the number of "Tom" signs next year in Ann Arbor (do we need Jamie Mac to make it official)? By that time any Tom reference would have to be a 1%, no? |

How could they hand down a punishment without reviewing all the different angles? As MSU is proving, it will take at least a few weeks to glean anything from rather obvious replays. |

| 2 years 28 weeks ago | If Harbaugh is the man |
the current timetable makes sense. I can imagine a situation where Harbaugh wants to finish this special season with Stanford and not leave before the bowl game and DB doesn't want to fire RR and leave the program in limbo for a month with people speculating "WHY HAVEN'T WE HIRED ANYONE YET?! WHAT ARE THEY DOING?! WHY IS HARBAUGH STILL IN CALIFORNIA?!" DB's actions, to me, say the decision has been made and Rich Rod will be let go but he can't announce the new coach until early Jan. and rather not leave an empty void at the top for a month. |

are different. You don't tough out a concussion like you might an ankle sprain. As someone who suffered a few concussions in a short period of time that left me unable to read or think clearly for months, I can tell you that you only go back when you're ready to go full-bore. Limited action can still have wide-spread negtive effects such as exacerbating current symptoms or causing even more concussions if you aren't fully healed from the previous incident. With concussions you're either ready to go or you aren't, there is no middle ground. |

| 2 years 36 weeks ago | Nervous to venture back here? |
Where else can you go after a Michigan disaster? This is like a shelter for battered fans. We'll take you in when you have nowhere else to go. The national MSM is fickle, the local media has gone green and white, just when you think you have no more options . . . MGoblog will nurse you back to health. |
| 2 years 36 weeks ago | What was he looking at? |
On one of the long Spartan touchdown runs a gaping hole opened and the running back ran through it. Instead of filling that hole, Ezeh ran into a blocker on the outside. Granted I saw this on fan vision and I'm not a football strategist but I couldn't figure out what the heck he was doing. If that TD isn't on him, I hope someone with x and o knowledge will explain. |
| 2 years 36 weeks ago | Boom! |
And when the defense is bad next year (I don't see our LB play improving) we'll all point to the decimated defense post. At that point RR's first recruiting class will be seniors. If you can't trend upward within a full college cycle that is on the coach. At some point Brandon will have to judge where things are heading. This board seems to think it is too early to make significant changes based on this team's defensive performance (and that of the last 3 years). Then when can such evaluation be fairly made? Decimated Defense was a great diary but it's shelf life is not infinite. Read Genuinely Sarcastic's latest post, I echo that sentiment 100%. |
| 2 years 36 weeks ago | 3 years |
And RR still can't field a team that beats MSU, and next year in EL doesn't look promising (our defense will still be bad). There are no positives. If the defense showed any signs of improvement i could understand the board's optimism but right now I wish Rich was our offensive coordinator, not the head coach. |
| 2 years 36 weeks ago | Held? |
34 points allowed is not an achievement, nor is 536 yards against. If this is the Michigan standard it is no wonder we're getting punked by MSU. The D has gone from bad in 08 to terrible in '09 to, how is this possible, worse in 10. |

An individual choosing between two programs, assuming that individual has no formal affiliation to either program, is more lkely to pick Michigan than Michigan State. | 2 years 36 weeks ago | Why are we scUM? |
I understand what they're doing there, adding sc before U (of) M, but why? With the Clarett stuff, however childish, O$U made sense but scUM? I understand the complaints of Michigan's arrogance (part of the charm!), entitlement (high expectations I say) and constant whining (but seriously, Desmond was tripped) but if what our enemies say is true and we are a wine and cheese crowd, well that sounds pretty high class to me, not scUMmy. None of our on field rivals provide suitable off-field rivalries for the fans, they're just too dumb. |
| 2 years 36 weeks ago | I love Michigan |
and I'm sure I could come up with a better list of reasons to hate Michigan. I'm not even insulted by things like "worst helmet in football" and terrible fight song. These things are by all measures false, as our helmets and fight song are both considered to be among the best if not the best in the country. He also claimed our biggest claim to fame is the Fab 5? Really? In almost 200 years of history as a University, one Presidential alum, 3 Heisman trophy winners and numerous football national championships, our biggest claim to fame is the Fab 5? If that is the best our enemies can do then we need smarter enemies. EDIT: I also loved that while reading this trash an add popped up for me to subscribe to the Bleacher Report for the best coverage of Michigan Football on the internet . . . |

His show is the kind of idiocy not needed in Ann Arbor (what kind idiocy is needed? I'm not sure, but not his kind). He should be heckled mercilessly. Signs like "Michigan: Where Your Material Comes From" (re: MZone spat) should be at the ready. We have enough hacks in our local media. I'm afriad if he and Drew Sharp cross paths they may form a Voltron like Super Hack and destroy all sensical opinion. |

| 2 years 39 weeks ago | When the defense comes around |

I think Wojo's absence from the air space is probably due to a non-compete clause in his WDFN contract but the fact Drew Sharp, Terry Foster and Mitch Albom are on the air and not Wojo really grinds my gears. | 2 years 39 weeks ago | 8 for an extension |
I think the commenter above suggested 8 should be enough to get an extension, not necessarily the requirement for RR to keep his job. This year is not the last year of his contract, RR could get 6 (or 5 or 4 or hell, 2) wins and be brought back next year without a contract extension. |

I think his number of carries will supress his star ranking. A QB can't earn a 5th star if he carries 28 times a game. |

Based on the free snippet ESPN provides it appears that their info comes from the Orlando Sentinel which provides the article for free: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/recruiting/os-recruiting-clinton-dix-getting-in-state-push,0,1551269.story Not sure why ESPN would charge for info available free of charge on another website, well I know why they would charge, but not sure why someone would PAY for it. FWIW, that 15% opening is apparently filled with Florida, FSU and USC interest, no mention of Michigan. |

Would be an awesome recruit to land for nickname alone, it would allow me to say things like "HaHa, Cox" and giggle in otherwise serious conversations about Michigan football. | 2 years 41 weeks ago | Differentiate |
There is a difference between the current state of the program and the program's place in history. Our program and its traditions are far superior to MSU's and I think, as rivals, we should flaunt that. Sure, they've beaten us the past two years and they will rightfully flaunt that. This is what rivals do. |
| 2 years 41 weeks ago | What else could MSU ask for? |
The Michigan game is the only one the Spartans care about, they keep that game. The PSU rivalry never caught on as an emotionally intense rivalry and quite frankly MSU's chances at making the B10 title game are higher with IU as the crossover instead of PSU, which probably excites them. The MSU/PSU game had 17 years to develop into a national story but with MSU never vying for a B10 Title (and the fact MSU has gone 4-13 against PSU since 1993) no one outside of the Midwest cared about that game. Oh and as Hollis made clear, MSU has great rivalries with the MAC so they're all set. |
| 2 years 41 weeks ago | Yes on all counts |
that is why they should be in the same division. The question in your title needs rewording. |

| 2 years 41 weeks ago | Game at the End of the Season |
Obviously Michigan and OSU same division, last game of season is the #1 choice but if we're thrown into separate divisions, playing an out of division game in the last week is a major con. If those are the divisions as listed above I think a serious argument could be made for having Michigan v. Nebraska as the last game to potentially decide who goes to the B10 championship game. Part of what makes Michigan OSU great are the high stakes involved, if the game is the last of the season but Michigan and OSU are in separate divisions the high stakes are removed, somewhat limiting the power of the rivalry. |
| 2 years 41 weeks ago | Angelique |
She is a very good journalist, she provides fair and balanced coverage and she asks good questions at press conferences, that is the role of a beat reporter and she excels at it. Prediction pieces are nothing more than gimmicks (probably required by teh editors), and do not count as "real" journalism, accuracy (or innacuuracy) in such articles hold no bearing on her abilities as a reporter. She is not, or has never shown herself to be, particularly knowledgable regarding x's and o's or schemes but that could be for a variety of reasons such as 1) the common fan wouldn't be interested or understand that kind of writing 2) she doesn't understand it herself 3) the paper tells her not to write extensively on such things or 4) a combination of all of the above. I think you have to temper your expectations in MSM coverage of Michigan or any football, they can do a good job of covering the simple facts such as what is said in interviews and press conferences but if you want in depth breakdown of on-field play you have to go to a more specialized outlet such as MGoblog. |

Often times the most damaging portion of the Freep's articles are negative headlines that don't match the tone of the article, even if Snyder hates Michigan I'd imagine he can't be too pleased with negative headlines that don't match the content of his articles, especially b/c most readers don't realize that the author of an article doesn't write the headline; like the link yesterday (since fixed) that said "Expansion Won't Hurt MSU-OSU" rivalry, when the article was actually about UM-OSU. Cop and a 1/2 -Starring Burt Reynolds, directed by the Fonz! IMDB's synopsis: Devon Butler is an eight-year old who dreams of being a cop. He watches police TV shows, knows police procedures, and plays cops and robbers with his friend Ray. One day, while snooping around in a warehouse, he witnesses a murder. He goes to the police, who want the information, but won't get it until they make Devon a cop. The police then team him with veteran cop (and child hater) Nick McKenna, and the two team up in comic series of events to find the killer. How could that NOT be funny? |

New Orleans always has been an NFL town, New Orleanians are addicted to the Saints, win or lose. The Hornets never had a chance to compete with the Saints and winning a SB makes it even harder. Even when the Hornets made the playoffs and advanced to the 2nd round against the Spurs a few years back there were tickets available. If fans won't pay to see Chris Paul WIN games, I don't know what will draw them in. If Paul leaves the franchise should shut down, maybe Paul will just take the whole franchise with thim |

The big problem with bringing back the show is that teenage boys no longer can sit and watch music videos all day, MTV doesn't show them, also will they have new music videos to comment on? How many bands still make music videos? Will they start again just to be lampooned on B&B? |

the NBA should euthanize the Hornets. I live in NOLA and I'm a Hornets fan but the NBA is turning into such a start-driven league, if you find yourself without a star (and outside a major market) you might as well close-up shop. Stern is VERY shrewd but ultimately this star-culture will choke the game, he needs to do something to change this back into a team game. |

I can understand not having release date delivery like some places do but I can't understand why they can't get the game to customers sooner than 10 days to 2 weeks after release. Anyone have prior experience with Dell? Are those estimated delivery dates conservative? Otherwise I'm SOL till the 23rd. |

Dell hasn't sent me an email besides the order confirmation email but that email projected the delivery date to be the 23rd. Delivery speed was set to 7 day delivery. Where are they shipping from? From Miami to Seattle can't even take 7 days (right?), are they using the the post office's new service: USPS College Road Trip? The original thread did warn that Dell shipping is extremely slow and often delayed so I'm expecting the worst. Oh well for a $17 saving I'll wait an extra week. |

There are millions of ways to raise money especially for someone with LBJ's influence. The TV special was clearly self-serving, the charity aspect was just a(n) (ineffective) shield designed to deflect criticism. All in all, money for the kids is more important than what LBJ does to his reputation but I don't think LBJ's handlers were putting the children ahead of LBJ in creating "The Decision." |

In Magnus' film breakdown he says Miller plays too high and playing with leverage is something that comes naturally and is difficult to teach. Why doesn't the kid just join the wrestling team? Through wrestling, use of leverage becomes 2nd nature. Mike Martin (I think) has credited part of his success to his time on the mat in high school. Maybe it is tough to teach leverage in the context of football but it seems that there are other ways. Magnus, any thoughts?

You have him listed with 96 acceleration, the same as Denard Robinson. Given that Denard is considered (at least by M fans) to be one of the quickest guys in college football, does it surprise anyone that White is presumed to have the same quickness? I could be wrong but I imagine good acceleration translates into a good 40 time; is White anywhere close to Denard? |

Dead Rising 2. The first one was the best zombie game I've ever played. It allowed for all the dismemberment and disemboweling moves you could want, whether it be ripping out zombie intestines by hand or running them over and spitting them out with a lawn mower. The game had a nice mix of action and humor. Keep an eye out for the sequel. |
| 3 years 4 days ago | If Tom wasn't so loyal |
I think it would be funny to offer him $10 million a year and watch him switch schools and cause mass choas in East Lansing. Again, given his feelings for MSU he'd probably reject the offer and then we'd look quite foolish, but if we KNEW he'd take it, that would be awesome (if we were in the market for a coach that is). |
| 3 years 4 days ago | Seconded |
I'm loving Red Dead and just bought NCAA Football 2011. While I don't know if I'm an old ass man (29), I have a full time job and have other interests so I don't have time to play at all during the day and only for an hour or so at night so I won't waste my time on average games. Red Dead is superb and NCAA Football looks to be quite an improvement over last year. You can't go wrong with either one. |

| 3 years 5 days ago | Breaks the Game |
I think the problem is that giving a quarterback 99 speed turns the game into NFL Blitz, where quarterbacks could run circles (literally) around the defense before deciding to make a decisive move upfield. I'm not as concerned with the numbers as I am with performance. Last year Denard got caught from behind by linemen and linebackers. I hear the new importance of the accerleration stat should make up for this . . . |
| 3 years 5 days ago | MSU Will Never Win the B10 |
If PSU, OSU, Michigan and MSU were put in the same division, MSU would never, EVER even sniff a B10 title game. OK, not that this would be much of a change, but this would lock them further into their little brotherness, which I am for 100%. |

Straight to NBA high schoolers and now the one-and-dones have killed college basketball. The product is a sloppy mess. Personally, I don't care if Nebraska's basketball nets are woven from discarded corn husk as long as we shuck them repeatedly on the football field. |

| 3 years 1 week ago | mm, maybe a bit too vague |
I didn't mean they have no "character" as in they are aren't morally fit; I mean more in the "feature used to separate distinguishable things into categories" sense. I think of the B10 as representative of the midwest and Texas representative of the South. Texas very much has its own culture, a GREAT culture at that, but not one that is cohesive with the B10. Nebraska is very much in line with the rest of the B10. Southern Cal fits all the things you just mentioned yet I don't think they fit within the B10 either. On paper I suppose it looks right but Texas feels wrong; but it looks like I'm alone in that feeling. |
| 3 years 1 week ago | Is This the Way to Make a Conference? |
How do you go about building a conference? What is the overarching qualities that are sought? Really it has to be more than are they a good football team and do they have decent academics? If those are the only requirements does that mean we'd take Florida and USC should they become available? This type of expansion overindulgence would just lead to conferences without character and ultimately unsatisfying results. |
| 3 years 1 week ago | Not the point |
Texas is a great football team and a great school but I don't think that is sufficient for B10 admission; geography should play into it and whether or not the school fits the B10's identity/persona. The idea is not that Missouri is better than Texas in absolute terms, but they are a better fit for the B10. |
| 3 years 1 week ago | 100% In Agreement |
Do people realize this isn't a fantasy football league or a video game? Sure, that would be fun to throw together in NCAA 2011 but realistically how do 2 Texas schools fit into the Big Ten? They don't. |

There is nothing good about who they are and what they do. Therefore, I hope Izzo leaves and the one remotely positive they can identify with crumbles. This is not as much about Michigan as it is my dislike for everything Spartan. |

| 3 years 1 week ago | Success? |
If you are going to go all Chicken Little, I'd first worry about Michigan having success. If he builds something to the level that other big name programs want to hire him then maintaining that success should not be as difficult as repairing a 3-9 team. Basically, let's get those wins first and then we'll worry about the rest. Besides, no matter how mad RR is right now, I think he'll like Michigan a lot more when/if he starts winning. |

On WTKA this morning Sam reported that GoBlueWolverine last night also spoke with Demar and he wasn't as positive as he was with TomVH, saying basically it's over and that he received something in the mail that says as much (the release that he spoke about?). Sam recommends giving up the last bit of hope b/c the piece of mail (Sam never confirmed it was the release) pretty much seals the deal. Sam also said Demar's final grades aren't in, so the final decision was made before his final grades were submitted. I'm way more upset about this than I probably should be but all this rubs me the wrong way. |

| 3 years 1 week ago | Dorsey's H.S. Coach |
Suggests that the hold up may deal with Demar's past legal issues. The same legal issues he had on signing day. I don't understand the bureacratic structure at Michigan, Sam Webb maintained that the decision to offer Dorsey and accept his commitment was not just a Rich Rod decision, that others at the University were in on approving the offer. Wouldn't one of those other parties have to be admissions?! Given our administrative problems as of late, perhaps it is too much to expect for the athletic department to work closely with admissions to vet these kids. As bitter as I sound, the true "loser" in this scenario is (may be?) Demar Dorsey, who may be denied 4 years in Ann Arbor, a time of my life I wouldn't trade. |

But don't official scorecards often change, something ruled a hit is later changed to an error or vice versa? Can an umpire error be changed in the same way? Granted in this case Galarraga would only get a no-hitter and not a perfect game, but still, better than a 1 hitter. |
