For 2013, only the last 30 entries out of 1511 show a negative 30 year ROI. There are 1481 with a positive ROI which represents probably 700-1000 schools (since schools are listed twice for in-state and out-of-state tuition). Even the 2012 data has many more than 150 entries or 150 schools with positive ROI, including my alma mater down below the half-way point in the list. YMMV, but all these analyses are based on medians. Be exceptional. Enjoy life. And you may end up with returns well beyond these, or benefits that are more than financial.

but that's due to there being a competitive team in town... Should be an exciting last evening of the season. It is very strange for Detroit and Columbus, who will only see an Eastern Conference team for at most one series in a year (if one of them makes the finals), then they'll be in the East next year. The Jets won't see their future West-mates at all for a year before they go West. Will be interesting to see if familiarity helps or hinders each of these teams going into the new alignment next year. |

Lenovo and HP laptops at work. With my own money, only Macs. For the OP and either simple or complex video editing a MBP would seem the better choice. Don't forget educational or corporate discounts, if they apply. Haven't paid full price for a Mac in over 20 years (yes my first one was the 2nd model to come out). Highly recommend AppleCare on laptops due to extra abuse they get moving around. Unibody case though will eliminate many previous issues that the plastic cases had. Productively getting 7 years plus out of the Macs. Knowing how much the support desk is called at work for the Windows PCs I use, and the 4 or 5 year refresh, seems like better TCO for the Macs. And I can still open a Unix shell window if I need to. |

What would the Big East have done? Found an article from a couple years back where Pitino was complaining about the Big East scheduling and proposing 2 divisions once TCU joins the Big East to bring them to 17 basketball schools. One of his divisions was fairly accurate, albeit split off to an entirely "new" conference: Eastern Division Western Division In less than 2 years, they ended up with essentially 2 divisions, except as two conferences they get two automatic qualifiers: The New Big East (The Catholic 7 plus others): From the Pitino Eastern Division: The AAC ( From the Pitino Western Division: And who scrammed, or will scram, from Pitino's divisions? Gone From Pitino Western DIvision: It's all Pitino's fault. |

Michigan has 8 wins vs. the top 25 of Kenpom:
Louisville has lost only 5 games to:
(losses seem to tilt towards Louisville: better quantity 5 vs. 7, better ave. 21 vs. 26.5, worse median 13 vs. 10, and Michigan has the worst loss to #140) Louisville has 5 wins vs. top 25:
(wins seem to tilt towards Michigan: better quantity 8 vs. 5, and Michigan has the best win over #2, but doing an ave. or median comparison is still arbitrary without including *all* opponents) Playing the Top 25:

Not sure I'd call it irony. More like sad. Since Louisville has one year in AAC before going to ACC, it's actually 7 of initial 10 are f-CUSA, 9 of the 11 in 2014, 9 of 12 in 2015, and 10 of the 14 "all-time" AAC members will be former C-USA members. From the schools that founded C-USA in 1995, only 2 are staying on (Southern Miss and UAB) and 1 is coming back (Charlotte). From the 12 in C-USA in 2012, 7 will end up in AAC. And, as you note, to make up for that gaping hole, 5 Sun Belt schools move to C-USA over the next couple years. As WAC football evaporates, those schools scramble to Sub Belt, C-USA, and MWC. Add in FBS schools moving up like Old Dominion, and it's such a lovely picture of quality. |

Note, in 2008, northeast Ohio was lamenting that they lost out on winning 2 years in a row, the 2nd time in Gangnam Style! Columbus suburb of Dublin was in top 7 in 2010 and 2011; Cleveland in 2006. I guess Ohioans really like to try winning this thing.

"news" organizations are much more obsessed with throwing out something quickly and clickable, rather than truly newsworthy. Got suckered into this a few days ago when I thought I was stuck in a traffic jam due to a fatal accident of a person in a disabled car next to the highway. Turned out it was a serious accident, but not fatal, and not from a disabled car by the side of the highway, and they had the time of the incident off by nearly an hour. At least the "news" outlet published a correction the next day. It would be fun to have ESPN publish corrections to every Te'o story they've done with the correct information (once we know it...). |

the owners argue that the value of the building decreases $107M the day it opens due to obsolescence - it took 10 years of court battles and negotiating to sort that out (interesting article here). Now OSU manages both venues so problem 2 has been solved; only took 11 years to fix that. Maybe there is some value to these arenas in increasing housing values nearby...or maybe this just proves that there are researchers out there researching anything - http://college.holycross.edu/RePEc/spe/FengHumphreys_PropertyValues.pdf (Note, that is from the North American Association of Sports Economists, who might have a vested interest in publishing positive data) |

| 30 weeks 5 days ago | need to look at the absolute numbers |
not the ordering of the teams. Michigan's computer numbers are 0.22 (after dropping the high and low and averaging the remaining 4 in a reverse ordering). 0.22 is equivalent to 20.5th place for the computers (as noted on CBS Sports' BCS table). To go from the 0.22 to the "place" ranking, multiply by 25 and then subract from 26. Do that same calculation for Harris and our polling vote total puts us in 21.74th place; Coaches poll puts us in 21.525th place. So the two human polls essentially have us at 22nd, and the other 1/3 vote for 21st place is not enough to pull it up. Teams are not evenly spaced along the continuum from 1st place to 25th place (or out to 35th place with folks also getting votes), due to the mix of voting. |

The replay and we should've got 11 seconds back on the clock for the stop for a first down. |

| 31 weeks 9 hours ago | oh lordy |
Braxton looks awful. Feel bad for him. September/October Heisman, win all early games in season, poor defense, quarterback getting knocked out of games. I've seen this movie... |
| 31 weeks 9 hours ago | Considering the cbus reaction |
to last week's barely-win, if osu loses this week with yet another turrible defensive performance, added to a mediocre offensive performance, there should be some good TWIS fodder. |

| 31 weeks 2 days ago | and he's very whiny |
- had lunch with him many years ago when he was one of our featured guests at our college's Sci Fi Exposition. I guess that whininess finally got the best of David Prowse and he was banned from Star Trek fan conventions. |
| 31 weeks 2 days ago | So is the athletic department |
getting back at Gee for their elimination? But then, what did Northwestern do to Vandy, other than beating them by 10 earlier this season ESSSS EEEEE SEEEEE!!! |

| 31 weeks 4 days ago | Missed all this |
And thought the little bit of their show that I caught was weird. Not a big fan of one-person talk shows, even for a day. Torg probably went a little too far but others seem to have blown it up too much. |
| 31 weeks 6 days ago | Go look at the bottom of the table |
on the cbssports site - right above the 4 schools in the Penalty box is the worst team in FBS, UMass. We've lost to #1 and #5, but our wins are over #66, #84, #94, and #120. |
| 32 weeks 5 hours ago | Must post again |
Since we've got Jack Kennedy in as well. Go Blue Very Presidential win on day we honor the only prez I've shaken hands with and we play namesake of the other prez I saw in person. CSB I know. |

Keep up the good work. |
| 32 weeks 6 days ago | Or one third of BCS |
But who's counting? |
| 33 weeks 3 days ago | To hear both |
Herbie and Spielman when they both put on their Scarlet colored glasses here on cbus sports radio, they see Michigan as about the third best team in the division. This prediction is no surprise. |
| 33 weeks 4 days ago | Tell ND the game is on Lake Superior |
|
| 33 weeks 5 days ago | Had a nice chat |
with Hoke at the game; quite the personable guy. He spent the first half with Montgomery in front of the Pick North Marching Band at south end of field. |

Central is 5-0 against North but North comes into the game higher rated and with a better record. Should be a great game. Get there early; parking will be a challenge. Could be first game this season Butt plays whole game (i.e. no garbage time). |

guy next to me was regretting he hadn't flown out to Vegas to lay $500 on the 50:1 on Ohio not covering the spread (wearing his osu jersey, getting ready for his osu watching party, etc etc). This town will turn on Urban so quickly if he starts losing.... |

I'd give the article a 5 out of 10 - some good points and some lesser ones. |

| 38 weeks 6 days ago | Nice pickup for |
Northwestern; I had told Ace to watch out for Godwin a year ago. He had another blowout game in the opener Friday night (wasn't there, but think he had some of the top rushing stats for central Ohio - 4 TDs, 260 yards rushing, plus 40 yards receiving in the 50-22 win). Before the game, nice article and picture of Jake and Godwin here. In related Picktown recruit news, the local "This Week" paper had a big article in their season preview insert on "Michigan Taking a Bite of Central Ohio Talent" and featured Taco (and teammate) on the cover:
