was a chance to perform with a small group of the Men's Glee Club my freshman year (2007) for the 60th anniversary reunion of the National Championship Mad Magicians.  I distinctly remember Bob sitting no more than a quick toss in front of me.  Singing all the old Michigan Songs obviously rekindled fond memories for them, and there were very few dry eyes in the audience.  I thought it was amazing that these men (who didn't look that much bigger than us, a stark reminder of how different the game was then), who had reached the apex of what Michigan football can be, were so connected also with the campus culture that a simple rendition of "I'll Ne'er Forget My College Days" would resonate with them so.  

It was an honor to sing that night for you, Bob.  May you always execute your heavenly fakes.

Head coaches do close the deal in some cases, but for the most part assistants are doing the leg work of signing day, traveling, calling, visiting, and completing the final panicked texts to recruits before waiting by the fax machine and hoping for no surprises. Do you have a coach on your team who is charismatic, back-slapping, and you suspect knows very little about coaching football, and yet pulls down a huge paycheck? This person is your recruiting coordinator, and he is worth every dollar thanks to mysterious power he has over high-schoolers who can run a 4.4 and squat 500 pounds.

Mike Lantry's FG attempt against Ohio in '74...was it in fact good?  Would it be possible to do an extension of the goalposts and use the projection of the ball's flight to generate the actual parabolic path, or is the picture quality too fuzzy to do that within a useful margin of error?

by Alabama this year.  But having that direct experience with their talent level up close couldn't be any better preparation for the JerryDome tussle next year, giving us experience, knowledge of their tendencies, etc.: more of a fighting chance.  Without that exposure, we most likely start off 0-1 in 2012.

Again, this scenario would require a ton of contingencies to break exactly right, but it could produce an interesting nonconference "series" similar to Washington-Nebraska the past couple of years.

will come this week against Sparty's banged-up O-Line.  The guys on the front seven who are left free on MM's doubles need to come up big and turn Cousins' bronze jersey brown and stifle the running backs in the hole.  If that doesn't happen this week, I think we have more of a problem than just a chess match up front.  In my view, this may just be a matter of other guys executing.  That said, having holding being called as such will probably help.

Does anyone who is more well-informed have an idea as to a timeline for the NCAA finally dropping whatever hammer/feather? The hearing for Tatgate stuff was August, but given the statement that the NCAA was "continuing its investigation" and given the relatively new stuff that's come to light, will that delay the verdict further? IIRC, the turnaround time for Michigan's practice hoo-ha was roughly August-to-late September/early October for comparison's sake.
