According to Tribune writer Teddy Greenstein, Crawford is being heavily pursued by Missouri and Marquette. My bet is that he stays with Northwestern though.

|2 years 44 weeks ago||Next year is Northwestern's year||
I know this is said pretty much every year...but I think northwestern will make the tourney next year. They have 7 freshman on the roster - arguably the best of which, Sanjay Lumpkin, has been hurt the whole year. Along with returning star player Drew Crawford next year, they will return another starter in JerShonn Cobb, who has been suspended for the season. Plus they are bringing in a top 100 recruit, which like never happens for Northwestern.

I know Northwestern very well. Both my parents went there, and I've visited dozens of times. I feel very comfortable with the school, and can't wait to be a Wilcat! I also plan on doing grad school at Michigan.
|2 years 49 weeks ago||I'm going to Northwestern||
I was accepted early decision to Northwestern on Thursday. While I love Michigan, and will always be a huge Michigan fan, I feel that Northwestern is a better fit for me.
|2 years 49 weeks ago||Still a good shot.||
I'm a high school senior that was accepted yesterday! However, a bunch of my friends - including many of whom had similar resumes to me - were deffered. Getting deffered, while it sucks, does not mean that she won't get in. Many students that got in early will opt not to attend (like myself...), which will open up plenty more spots.
For early action, they typically take the top crop of students. The ones that are boderline, or even slightly above borderline, get deffered, and pooled in with the regualr applicants. Then, they evaluate the rest of the applications, and see where they stack up. They are also looking to see how the student did first semester of his/her senior year. If the student took hard classes and got good grades, then they have a very good chance of getting in. Deffered applicants should find out around February, and a large group of them will be accepted. As long as your daughter does well in her first semester, while taking difficult classes, she should be accepted. She still has a very good shot of ending up at Michigan.
Deffered is much better than waitlisted. I'd put odds of getting accepted once deffered at around 50%. Getting accepted once waitlisted is closer to 10%.

With our very mediocre wide recieving corps, and a bevy of good TE's coming in, wouldn't it make sense to permanently move Funchess to WR? He is an iffy blocker, but is such a game changer out wide. He has the speed, catchng avbility, and body-type of a WR - it just seems like a logical move. Thoughts?
|3 years 1 week ago||That sounds really promising.||
That sounds really promising. Sounds like Miami made the cut because of effort - but they don't seem like they'll be a huge factor, and that coaching changes at Tennessee and Auburn (1 gone, 1 almost gone), would have a significant effect. It appears that Oregon is our biggest competition for Green, but it sounds like we have the edge.

|3 years 12 weeks ago||I'm still not remotely sold on Roundtree||
He wasn't targetted until the last 5 minutes of the game. And he's supposed to be our #1 WR. It's looking like this year is going to be a repreat of his 19 reption season last year. Gardner had a chance to bring a couple more receptions in. And the one he did catch - well, no one was within 10 yards of him. He sure looks the part, with his speed and height, but he proved nothing to me in this game. We'll get a better feel for the WRs once Denard learns(?) to throw the ball in their direction.
|3 years 12 weeks ago||Why is that?||
Gallon - looked the best of the bunch. He caught four passes. I believe 2 of those were bubble screens. So he caught 2 actual passes. No other wide reciever on the team did anything. Gardner caught a pass...after his CB fell down. Roundtree had 2 short ones in garbage time. Dileo had one impressive grad, but that's all he contributed. Jackson/Robinson were non-existent. The WRs looked really weak to me.
|3 years 12 weeks ago||A ton of positives||
1. We stayed injury free. No one of importance got hurt.
2. Denard looked pretty impressive - leaps and bounds better than last year. And even when he got hurt or didn't play, the backups stepped up and performed quite adequetly.
3. Run game impressed. Even without Fitz, we were able to run all over the field. I was really impressed by Rawls and Smith.
4. CBs - Played some lock down coverage all day.
5. Our offensive line gave Denard awesome time. And opened up massive holes for the RBs. And like 0 OL penalities - so that was pretty good.
6. Our front 7 was able to shut down those Alabama RBs.

|3 years 26 weeks ago||Now, UCLA is in tough position here...||
While Combs doesn't NEED the financial aid, they promised schoalrship was the reason he chose UCLA over other potential suitors. If they decide that he can pay his way and take the scholarship away from him, it would be disrepectful and probably cause Combs to look elsewhere. The kid committed to UCLA because they promised him a scholarship. I'm sure he could have walked on to nearly any program in the country, or he could have gotten paid tuition and the respect that comes with it from another program.
|3 years 26 weeks ago||What's the big deal?||
This kid EARNED his right to a scholarship. He worked hard on the field and in the classroom to get this opportunity. Combs isn't the only scholarship athlete to come from money. I'm sure Tim Hardaway Jr. could afford to pay for college based off of what his dad made in the NBA. No one complains about TH, and rightfully so. Combs is talented enough for the scholarship, and worked hard to earn this scholarship. Just because he has a wealthy father doesn't mean that he should have different treatment.

Chipotle is by far the greatest restaurant on the face of the earth. I eat there at least 4 times a week. The food is healthy and delicious, and doesn't break the bank. All of their ingrediants are from local farms, and you can taste it in the food. The guacamole at Chipotle is to good to be compared to any other Mexican restaurant. I got in on Chipotle stock in 2008, buying 10 shares at $55 dollars a pop. It's now ballooned to nearly $400 per share! I own 5 Chipotle shirts, 2 Chipotle hats, and even guacamole flavored chapstick. When the Chipolte festival came to Chicago on October 1st, I was there. While those other restaurants are good, and Q'doba is second in my books, none of them remotely compare to the quality, and taste of Chipotle.

Yeah, it would be nice to beat OSU when their good, but Meyer is a VERY good coach. Kovacs came from a student body walk-on tryout to barely make the team in the first place. Since then he has stepped up and become arguably our best defensive player.
While its nice to see Floyd having a very nice game, its hard to consider him a difference maker just yet. I need to see a couple more nice games out of Floyd before I can start to compare his evolution to that of Kovacs.
|4 years 2 weeks ago||Can only 3 SEC teams make it?||
The SEC is loaded. Alabama and LSU are probably locks for BCS Bowls. I'd say Georgia, South Carolina, and Arkansas would also have a better chance of making it to a BCS game than a 10-2 Michigan team. If more than 3 SEC teams are allowed in BCS games, it would be tough to see Michigan in there.

|4 years 7 weeks ago||MVPs||
Defensive MVP - Definitely Kovacs. I've been really dissapointed by both Demens and Martin this year, both of which I thought would be the top two guys. Kovacs keeps stepping up and is having another really good year, and he definitely deserves the midseason defensive MVP.
Offensive MVP - Borges (can he count?). I've been impressed with Borges's play calling all year. We are still perfect in the red zone (I believe), and the credit there has to go to Coach Borges. Denard has also looked good, but those darn turnover are driving me crazy. Player-wise, he deserves the offensive MVP for the team.
Special Teams MVP - Wile. Those pnts kept getting better and better. I was expecting our punt game to be a disaster with Hagerup out, but the true freshman did quite well.
Best new comer - Jake Ryan. He has quickly become my favorite player on the field. He can hit, and brings it every play.
Best hit - BWC big hit on Persa vs. Northwestern.

While Fitz looked good, due to injuries, you can't count on him as an everydown back.
Shaw had one 44 yard TD run with a hole that my grandma could have gotten through. Other than that, Shaw has ran the ball 5 times for 7 yards...which isn't too impressive.
Smith is too small to be a featured back in a Brady Hoke offense, and is used as a 3rd down guy.
Hopkins loooked really bad against Notre Dame, and didn't look at all capable to be a starter.
We don't have great running back depth, so I'd love to see these freshmen get a shot.
|4 years 11 weeks ago||Give Rawls and Hayes a shot||
You've got to give the freshmen a shot. Fitz is too delicated to be an every down back, Smith is too small, Shaw is mediocre, and Hopkins is a liability when out there. After a week in which our RBs combines for 10 yards rushing, I'd love to see what Rawls and Hayes can do.

Gunner beat Morris in Elite 11, but Morris beat Gunner for MVP at the Nike Camp. They both happened the same weekend, but they were different events.
|4 years 27 weeks ago||My mock class||
QB - Gunner Kiel: After this weekend, Kiel seems a lot less likely to end up a Wolverine. The #1 QB in this class would be crazy to come to a school with a 2013 commit who beat him out for the NIKE Camp MVP, right? But right now, Kiel seems like the only QB with a Michigan offer that has serious interest in Michigan. I think Michigan will take a QB in this class, and right now, Kiel seems like the most realistic option.
Other options: There a couple of other kids that have interest in Michigan, however lack offers. Tyler O'Connor is one that stands out. He is very interested in Michigan and if he receives an offer, Michigan would probably leap into his top group.
RB - Someone will emerge...Hoke said he wants at-least one RB per class, however I don't see any viable options right now. Of the offered backs, Brionte Dunn is probably the one with the most interest, however, until he decommits from OSU, I'm hesitant to include him. It also seems like we have dropped of for Greg Garmon, however a visit might change that. Right now, I think Hoke will take a RB, but it will be a kid offered further along in the season.
WR - Aaron Burbridge: If he can get his grades in order, he will most likely be blue. With two teammates and friends already in fold, Michigan has an upper hand over in-state rival MSU.
Other options: WR Dwayne Stanford has Michigan in his top 5, and has a visit scheduled for this weekend.
TE - Devin Funchess: Commit
A.J. Williams: Commit, however will probably grow into an OL
Ron Thompson: Was close to committing a couple of times, but as new offers have emerged, Thompson has decided to take his time. Thompson grew up a Michigan fan, and if there is a spot for him, will probably end up a Wolverine.
Other options: None
OL - Ben Braden: Commit
Erik Magnuson: Seems to have a strong bond with Hoke and Funk. Michigan is in his top 3.
DE - Mario Ojemudia: Commit
Pharaoh Brown Commit
Chris Wormley: In a local article, Wormley recently named Michigan his leader, and is rumored to be near a decision.
DT - Matt Godin: Commit
Sheldon Day: Early on, Day was called a Michigan lean, and even rumored to be the silent commit. He says he will take more time on the recruiting process (plans on narrowing it down to a top 15 soon?), yet Michigan is still in a very favorable position.
LB - Joe Bolden: Commit
Royce Jenkins-Stone: Commit
James Ross: Commit
Kaleb Ringer: Commit
Other options: Nope, this is pretty much set.
DB - Terry Richardson: Commit
It's pretty similar to yours JC3. We differ in QB, RB, WR, 1 OL, and 2 DTs

It makes more sense as the year goes on and we get a clearer picture. Right now, with a lot of Rival's NR players really 3 stars, it makes it difficult to gauge. But when everyone gets ranked, those NR guys deserve a 1 star so they can still get factored in the ranking. You can give an NR guy 2 stars by defaul, because many ranked prospects are 2 star prospects.

I know I haven't been on this thread since I posted, and it's turned pretty damn messy. I did'nt meen for this to be a RR vs. Hoke in recruiting thread or a thread to bash RR in any way, shape or form. I know it's kind of a redudndant topic, but I just thought it would be interesting to share our recruiting records against our two main recruiting rivals. I understand the negging on redundancy, but please don't take this thread as a "This guy hates RR!" type of thread. That was not my intention.

I don't think Michigan will take 6 OL this year - I think 4-5 is a more reasonable number. How the numbers work out, I don't think we NEED 6 this year, and that will probably only happen if we get 4 blue chippers. I'm thinking we take 4 OL this year (plus Williams) and take Thompson at TE.
|4 years 29 weeks ago||My thoughts||
RJS - 5 star
Ross - 4 star
Bolden - 4 star
Braden - 3 star
Brown - 3 star
Stacy - 3 star
Williams - 3 star
Funchess - 3 star
Ojemudia - 3 star
Ringer - 3 star
So pretty darm close to the OP

I don't think they'll pull his scholarship - but it looks nearly certain that Williamson will be out next year, and if not, he'd be they most likely candidate. However, I think Michigan will honor the kids scholarship if he does in fact stay commited to the school.
|4 years 29 weeks ago||Stonum||
Stonum's a senior anyways. We'll still have his spot open next year even if he does indeed play.
|4 years 29 weeks ago||My attemped answers||
a) It looks like the coaches are telling him to leave more than it being of his choice. Apparently, he has bad hands, and is never going to see the field.
b) I'm sure we'll lose a couple of those tiny slot recievers. In this offense, I don't see them getting much playing time, if any - and there are waaay to many on scholarship.
c) Maybe Williamson, if he doesn't transfer

It could be Wormely, but I'm thinking it's Ross. Works with the trend. Wait...is this the wrong thread?
|4 years 30 weeks ago||Bolden||
I'm pretty sure Bolden is on the Rivals watch list
P.S. - I've always been a huge fan of these rankings! Thanks for the rgeat work as usual.

Nice doing business with yeah San Diego!
Mouton and Schilling in return for Hoke
|4 years 30 weeks ago||YES!||
SCHILLING BEFORE BOREN!
|4 years 30 weeks ago||Different sites||
On ESPN, he's the 7th best guard available. On CBS, he's the 7th best player available, and best OL available
|4 years 30 weeks ago||To ESPN||
To ESPN, Schilling is the 7th best guard available...2 spots behind Boren. Who do y'all think will get drafted first?
|4 years 30 weeks ago||Greg Jones||
Greg Jones was just picked by the Giants in the 6th round, at #185 ... only 124 picks behind Mouton!
|4 years 31 weeks ago||Steal of the draft...||
|4 years 31 weeks ago||Did you mean...||
Even PRYOR to things getting so bad for Tressel Dunn was saying he was going to visit Michigan, though he hadn't made it up yet (I don't think).

Were either of these guys the rumored "silent" commit?
