So because one they got one pick wrong means they have no "real insight" into any recruiting situation? That seems like a blatant over reaction to me.

Obviously I'm not going to live and die by their word. They will be wrong sometimes, like with Hood and Bunting, and Bars seems like the type of kid who they could potentially be wrong on. But to say they have no real insight is foolish. They obviously don't know 100% where any kid is going until the LOI is signed, but they definitely have a better idea than us as fans.

And Hood was also a very unexpected situation. He said ND was his #1 for the longest time, then said he wanted to stay close to home in NC, and then before giving any indication that that wasn't the case he committed to ND. Now obviously this could happen with Bars as well, where he does something the "experts" don't expect, but that seems to be the exception and not the rule.

Damien Harris, RB out of KY, has been very interested in Michigan, supposed to be a top 5 overall player talent, and we're the presumed favorites at this point.

No shit it's depending on what group you poll. That's why I said students. The group I am talking about being polled in students. My point was specifically about students. The polls on Facebook I've seen are all student responses. The poll you posted is open to the public, majority non students, so of course the results are different.

My Take on the situation;

Keep in mind that it's not just the "drunk sorority" student who doesn't like this change. A vast majority of students who have been answering polls on Facebook have said they hate it, Brian acknowleged as much in his front page post.

So while everyone here likes to bash the kids who are drinking, the so called "drunk sorority girl", for hating this policy, every student does basically.

Whether kids are pregaming or just sitting in their dorm room, most students would rather have a guaranteed seat at a certain spot that they can get whether they leave at 11:15 or 11:45. Now they have no idea where they'll sit before hand, and most people would rather do whatever they want than have to stand in line for 30-45 minutes before they normally would and still not be guaranteed a good seat.

That being said, as a current student and someone in Greek Life, I'm in favor of the change. I'm willing to leave 30 minutes ealier to get a better seat, I'll just start pregamming 30 minutes earlier. I think if you're willing to wait in line for an extra 30 minutes, you should get a better seat. I'm also fine with reducing the size of the student section. But just keep in mind, this isn't just Greek life who doesn't like this change, most students don't.

1. McGary

He was our best player in the tournament, and while some of that was because of Burke, he showed the ability to score on his own as well by crashing the boards or shooting a 15 footer or the occasional drive. And while Walton isn't as good a scorer as Burke, I do think as a true passing PG the drop is not as significant. I think McGary could be an All-American this year.

2. Go by situation

Obviously with no Burke and Hardaway, who were probably the first two options last year, there's no clear cut answer. So I say go by committee. Until someone steps up as the last minute guy, go by where we have the biggest advantage. If they're a poor perimeter defensive team, go with Stauskas. If we have the size advantage down low, go McGary, etc.

3. Walton

This one is a toss up to me. I think there will be a pretty even split of minutes, so starter doesn't really matter, but if I have to choose, I'll say Walton overtakes Spike by this point.

4. Stauskas

He started pretty much the entire year this year, and while at moments he struggled, he has an entire offseason to get better with Beilein now and grow. I do think both start eventually, but more because I think we shy away from the 2-big system and go with 3 guards again.

5. McGary

As I said, All-American potential, I think he becomes the best player and leading scorer next year.

As someone from NJ, 10 hour drive from NJ to Michigan is about right. A little on the quick side, but accurate.

Also keep on mind, Peppers, who is from NJ, is not considering VT. His top two are us and Stanford. Hand, from VA, has a top two of us and VT. And both these top two's are assumed based on what people have been saying, not the kid's official top two's.

*All recruit data according to rivals, current numbers based on OSU's roster on their official website.

OSU currently has 15 OL on their roster, which doesn't include the two incoming true freshman, so it's really 17. Of those 17, 5 are seniors, with one being a walkon. There are an additional 3 walkons of the remaining 12 players.

So next year, OSU will have 9 scholarship OL returning, and only one of those will have starting experience.

Since 2009, OSU has signed 17 OL. Of those 17, 5 are no longer listed on the roster as OL, meaning they have either switched positions or left the program.

In the same time, Michigan has signed 16 (technically 17 but one is the LS Sypniewski) OL. Of those, 3 have left the program or are no longer OL.

So in the big picture both teams picture looks bleak-ish, but Michigan has taken significantly more OL in the past 2 years and also at a higher quality.

Not really too relevant, but the big thing I noticed? We all love to joke about MSU recruiting nationally under Dantonio, but according to this article, John L. Smith was actually a more nationally recruiter than Dantonio.

2 years ago, during the basketball season. Football had obviously been disappointing and this was the Darius Morris year for basketball where we were on the buble. I was looking for any coverage I could of Michigan basketball to drown out the sorrows of football. I was on ESPN's CBB blog right before the home MSU game and saw this site linked in the side bar. Came here, have been hooked ever since.

Very nice to see this all in one spot. We can't get the 1 seed no matter what, but it seems like our most realistic shot at the 2 is for MSU to beat Wisco and Illinois to beat OSU, with us beating Indiana obviously. I think MSU will win tonight, so asuming we beat Indiana, it all comes down to Illinois upsetting OSU @ OSU. Possible, but I wouldn't bet on it.

If we beat Indiana and win two games and get to the finals of the BTT, I think we could get it regardless, espcially if some of the other potential 1's lose early in their tournaments.

This team is nowhere close to the team we were at the beginning of the year. We suck, say hello to another first round exit.

Texas just opened up a 42-31 lead over Kansas with 15:21 left in the second. Would be big if Kansas were to lose, as that would guarantee us moving up to at least 3rd in the new rankings. If Louisville were to lose, we would move up to 2, and possibly one if voters feel our win over Minnesota warrants us jumping Duke.

Also, while Purdue has looked good, lets keep in mind that WVU is a pretty crappy team.

Try to come off a little more condescending next time, and the maybe people will be more receptive.

We don't have the best offensive big men, so that could hurt us, but not many teams have dominant big men in college nowadays, and I think the trio of Morgan, McGary and Horford is a very good trio to have. Obviously not as good as Zeller or Plumlee, but better than most. Also, everyone always says guard play wins in the tourney, if you have a guard who can take over like Kemba Walker did a few years ago, you can go far. And we definitely have that in Burke.

This is why this team is so great. Played at times a pretty crappy first half. Burke and Stauskas were non factors for a while. Some bad defense. Morgan in foul trouble. Iowa hitting a lot of shots. And we're still up 11.

Yeah I did. The game win was obviously a good win for Illinois, but at the same time that game said more to me about OSU than Illinois.



Illinois's offense wasn't overly impressive. They missed a decent amount of open shots, and made a ton of late clock 3 point or long 2 chuck ups that you can't expect them to make on a consistent basis.



They did dominate inside, but that probably says more about OSU than Illinois once again. All OSU has inside are Ravenel and Williams, 2 meh players. In their previous 3 games, which included a game against Auburn, Illinois was out rebounded by 41. We are one of the best rebounding teams in the country, against us I would be surprised if they dominated inside.



And I think you're overdoing how much they shut down Thomas. He didn't have his greatest game, yes, but he still had 24 points, and 20 with over 8 left in the second, so it was not all garbage time.



I think Illinois is good, but this game just showed me more how thin OSU is and their lack of O outside Thomas. Illinois is good, but I think us and Indiana are significantly more talented, and we should beat them.

Still Indiana. Illinois beat Ohio State handily, yes, but their offense wasn't that impressive and they rely too much on the three. They have a bad loss to Purdue already as well. I think we can handle them.



Minnesota scares me and is a good team, but we only play them once and it's early enough in the season we can work around a loss.

This Pitt Cinci game has just been ugly. Pitt is up 34-26 at the half, but it's just been a foul fest. Go Pitt though, make our win over them look even better.

Two major gripes:

1)Defense. Started off very poorly but been much better second part of this half.

2)3 point shooting. Not a great percentage, and if you're going to shoot 14 in a half, Stauskas has to have a couple

This report comes out saying he won't visit, and he's eliminated us.

He tweets 5 hours ago that he will visit us.

His most recent tweet is saying that he's going to wear number #1 next year in college, and he's going to be announcing soon.

That seems innocent enough, but he doesn't wear #1 in high school. Now it's possible he just wants to wear #1 in college, but considering how big of a deal #1 is at Michigan, there could be some connection there.

Now I know you're all saying, "But MichiganMan2424, if this is true, why would he come out and say he's eliminated Michigan? Also, you're an idiot for reading this much into a kid's twitter."

Well the second part is true, but regardless.

We all know WRs can be huge divas. While Treadwell hasn't done anything wrong in his recruiting process, he hasn't helped himself with that diva tag. And what would be more diva then at your announcement, pulling out a Michigan hat of a team you said you eliminated and committing there?

Now I'm not saying I expect this, but in the short time I've followed recruiting, if any prospect were to do this, it'd be Treadwell.

Also, something else that I remember from last year's process, there are actually 3 types of deferral letters. Each one says something different, and depending on which letter your daughter received, that may say something about her chances.

If you don't mind, could you post the first few entences of the letter your daughter received? If you did that, I could try and tell what the general consensus on that letter is.

Agree completely, also keep in mind this weekend was parents weekend so a large amount of people, at least ones I know, either didn't go to spend time with their parents or sat outside of the student section with their parents.

If he wants to go to OSU, all the power to him. I just hope we don't start bashing his character and all that like OSU fans did to Kalis.

If he goes to OSU, OSU is getting a very good player. It will suck for any good player to go to OSU, especially one who was committed to us, but if he does end up going there, which I doubt, in the end, it's football, he's done nothing to offend me.

However, he will have hopefully offended our current committs, who he used to wake up every day to and tell "Go Blue"and talk about Team 134 with. I hope those players are offended, and if he does go to OSU, make it their mission every year at "The Game" to show him what a colossal mistake ge made.

The easiest pick to me is for UTEP to cover. I don't trust Wisconsin to even score 18, let alone win by that much

I'm fine with it. Florida, ND, and Stanford should have all jumped us with their wins. Meanwhile only Va Tech and MSU should have fallen behind us with their losses. 3 go ahead of us, 2 fall behind, means we fall one. Makes perfect sense to me.

I'd like to play Virginia again, get revenge for the loss last year.

I hate how overrated ND is year in and year out. But after their recent string of mediocrity and their fans posting things like "I don't ever think we'll beat Michigan in my lifetime again", they have become a much more tolerable fan base. MSU has the most annoying fanbase to ever walk this planet, so fuck 'em.

I've accepted that the B1G is crap as of now. So I'm not going to even worry about the B1G's appearance right now and that a MSU win looks good for the B1G, all I care about is us winning the B1G. So I'm going to be rooting for the team I hate less, ND.

Also, it'll be fun beating ND again this year, especially after they've beaten MSU and have even more unwarranted hype than usual. And on the off cance they beat us, oh well, after the past 3 years I can deal with 1 loss to ND.

MSU will win in an ugly, defensive minded game. Neither team will have good offenses and MSU's defense should outclass Boise's. Both teams will have new QBs, but with MSU at home they should win.



It'll be close, probably around 20-14. I wouldn't be shocked of Boise won, but if I was a betting man I'd put money on MSU

In 2013, Touissant will still be the starter, assuming he doesn't leave early, so that's wrong to begin with.

Also I don't know if I'd call Rawls the second string back, considering Vincent Smith is going to be getting a ton of playing time as well. He'd be the starter if Touissant went down/doesn't play due to suspension, but Smith will also be getting significant playing time as well.

Green would have a chance to start in 2014, when it would be a 2nd year Green vs a 4th year Rawls, both with 0 years starting experience. Assuming Green is as advertised and isn't a bust, I wouldn't be surprised if he surpases Rawls.

In Auburn's case, it would be a true freshman Green battling a 3rd year Mason. I'd expect a 3rd year player who has played significantly in the two years prior and was a top 200 player to beat out a true freshman, regardless of how talented he is. So Mason would presumable be the starter in 2013, and hold the role in 2014 as well, making it harder for Green to play right away.

DLS drive stalls after Morris was sacked for a big loss. 3/6 for 34 yards on the drive. Had one great throw on an out but also missed 2.

He started 2-9, has gone 5 of 5 with 2 TDs since. Nice to seem him start to play to the level we all know he can. Maybe some early nerves got to him? Regardless he's on track for 200+ yards and 4 TDs. That's a solid day no matter what, and if he plays like he has after the 2 for 9 start he can do even better.

Rules for multi-sport athletes

The NCAA also has rules specifying the sport in which multi-sport athletes are to be counted, with the basic rules being:^[18]

• Anyone who participates in football is counted in that sport, even if he does not receive financial aid from the football program. An exception exists for players at non-scholarship FCS programs who receive aid in another sport.^[19]
• Participants in basketball are counted in that sport, unless they also play football.
• Participants in men's ice hockey are counted in that sport, unless they also play football or basketball.
• Participants in both men's swimming and diving and men's water polo are counted in swimming and diving, unless they count in football or basketball.
• Participants in women's volleyball are counted in that sport unless they also play basketball.
• All other multi-sport athletes are counted in whichever sport the school chooses

So I actually may have mispoken by saying it goes to the highest grossing sport in all circumstances as the last bullet point says the schools may choose in some instances, but in this and most other instances that's how it works.

That's fairly borderline, but honesty, that's nothing overly offensive and no physical altercation. I'm not a ginger, so I have a soul and all, but if I was a 15 year old me in Columbus and heard that I think I would laugh more than anything as well, I wouldn't be offended by that.

I went to my first "Game" this year, and for the most part I can't remember any poor treatment of Buckeye fans. I was in the student section and even there, all the Buckeye fans there got nothing more than the expected trash talk.

There were some negatives for Morris though. No tweets to use as of now, but he was picked off by Vernon Hargreaves III and and Leon McQuay a few times, but those two are great CBs and in a event like this, it's to be expected.
