He practically broke out his checkbook during the press conference. The apparent lack of interest throughout the country coupled with DB's evident lack of acumen is very disheartening at this point. |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | This |
First, Michigan couldn't even get an interview from a coach from NW. A Nebraska coach went out of his way to show disinterest in a rumor. The most prized alumnus working turns down the keys to the kingdom. And now an MWC coach might spurn Michigan for Stanford. Stanford! When will the DB realize what a toxic environment the Michigan coaching job is immersed in? |

I (for one) wasn't pissed while they were playing for a spot in the NC. It wasn't until January that year...when I was snapped back into reality watching them, one game removed from a championship, getting waxed yet again in Pasadena by USC. Watching Dwayne Jarrett hand Willis Barringer the ball after repeatedly catching it right in his face woke me up to the fact that, yes, Lloyd needs to ride off now... |

Tressel doesn't seem to be under any illusions as to who his constituency is: "You felt like it's been a nine-year honeymoon?" he repeated on Tuesday. "You must not have liked your honeymoon." AND... "When I read some of them I feel terrible for them because there's no way they're happy," he said. "They've got to be some of the most unhappy people in the world, and I feel bad because we just made them less happy, and I hate to be a part of making someone less happy. I mean, they're already miserable." |

| 3 years 36 weeks ago | I for one couldn't care less |
I for one couldn't care less about the perception of the conference. I'll go as far as to say I don't care how the rest of the Big Ten teams perform on a week to week basis. Nobody says that the perception of the Pac-10 makes USC look bad. That's because they kick ass and dominate their bowl games. All I want is for Michigan to WIN GAMES. The rest of the conference can fend for themselves. |

It's a .500 road trip. Not the end of the world. It's like their west coast swing; I expected to get 2 from Oakland and wanted one from the Angels. The opposite happened but they still finished .500 on the trip. Considering their road record for the season, I'll take it. |

| 3 years 38 weeks ago | I appreciate everything Lloyd did, but... |
I would just as soon he stay away from this for a few reasons. I know I'm probably going to get some negative points but here me out... I don't think Lloyd fostered a culture of leadership. There, I said it. Where is his coaching tree? Has he not spent more time "coaching" EMU since English is there in spite of his AD job at M? But deeper than that, and leaving the talent cupboard out of this, WHERE IS THE LEADERSHIP ON THIS TEAM!? All of the Jrs and Srs left are Lloyd's recruits and this ship seems to have no rudder; and they're the ones who have "bought in". Give RR a couple years, and let this transition run its course and you will see a completely different program/culture. |
| 3 years 38 weeks ago | SSDS |
Same Shit Different State I feel like I just stepped out of Doc Brown's DeLorean. I grew up in WV and remember when everyone wanted to run the new 3-8 loser coach out of the state. The no-huddle didn't "fit" at WVU...how could we hire this bum...? And so on and so on. However WVU never had the sense of entitlement that (some) UM alumni/boosters seem to possess until...you guessed it...RR had WVU winning 10+ games a year and winning BCS games. Some people even considered UM a step down(!). I have to say I'm disappointed that this is still going on during year 2. Les Miles is never coming here and RR given a chance WILL WIN. These whiny, entitled ex-players should have stuck it out. It seems like they would have had a lot in common with some other (though not all) alumni. |

Just maybe, it doesn't say the allegations aren't true because they are withholding indictment until an official investigation report (worthy of reporting)is released. | 4 years 2 weeks ago | I think you kind of touched on it... |
I, for one, treat this board like a party setting. It's fun to talk smack knowing you're doing it to another Michigan fan. It's like arguing with your brother. It's no big deal until someone else tries to pick on him. Then the infighting ceases to matter and you're at each others' defense. It's part of the accountability of the whole thing. Let's be honest, and correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the cream of the crop when it comes to Michigan boards. If someone comes with something irrational or idiotic they aren't being flamed by some other team's fans; they're being checked by Michigan fans with enough know to post here in the first place. Furthermore, if someone registers/posts without reading or researching this board, they deserve anything and everything they get IMO. If I were to say something like "Sure Mike Hart was pretty good, but I would have rather seen Underwood get a few more touches first..." I would expect to get slammed by knowledgeable, rational Michigan fans who could give me realistic reasons why I was wrong. Or if I were to ask, say, "Why did Mike Hart get drafted so late?" and got reasonable, rational, logical responses I would say "Oh, thank you." and go on my way. Others aren't this adept and keep driving uninformed irrational points into the ground until it borders on trolling regardless of their original intentions. Having said that, I like it just the way it is here. People have been pissed at me and flamed me one day, and agreed with me and joked the next. It's situationally dependent and only for people adjusted enough to accept it. If not, Scout and MLive are always open. |

He also mentions recruiting some other in-state recruits for Michigan (e.g. Gholston). http://www.detnews.com/article/20090409/OPINION03/904090315/1131/SPORTS0... |

You "miss" typed your response, too. You weren't tailgating by any chance today, were you...? :] |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | Caveat: I know nothing about S&C |
However, his "math" was also based on a 2-pizza a week diet and a D-III S&C program. I'm willing to give Barwis some leverage. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | *sigh* |
Porcello looked good, though. He has some pretty nasty movement. I just hope the offense helps him out a little more the next time. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | Per: |
Per: http://mvictors.com/ MVictors: One of the things that I’ve heard is that, down the road, you’d like to be a coach. Is that true, has that always been a goal? Sheridan: Yes, but some people think that I came here as someone who didn’t want to compete and that I just came here to learn and to be a coach, etc., etc. I don’t know how that got blown up. That’s not the case at all. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | It was also nice to see Perry |
It was also nice to see Perry go 1-2-3 in his debut. Something the veteran bullpen didn't seem able to do the 2 games before. Yeah, Porcello is pitching tonight. That's what I'm interested in seeing. And with a win (and the mathematical certainty they can't start 0-7) behind them, there isn't as much pressure on the kid. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | STOP IT!!! |
Stop being realistic. You're going to convince me he's not an MVP! Oh well, I'll enjoy it while I can. Just please no 0-7. |

3 jacks in as many nights. Wow. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | A cab? |
My entourage would have a full-time DD. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | That is my point. |
It is not merely stats. It is also not just stats. Furthermore, it is not stats alone. And, if I may be so bold, it is not strictly stats. 1) Pryor is an awesome athlete. I don't know how much more clearly I can explain myself. I'm not saying he's not good. I'm not saying he wasn't productive. Quite the opposite. But when someone isn't impressed all anyone can do is cite stats. There are other variables. That is all I'm trying to get across. That is what you got across when discounting Brennen (and rightly so). If it were just stats, as I pointed out above, 2004 UM had more offensive production than 2008 OSU with one less game. OSU also had Jr. Beanie and an NFL-bound receiving corp. Is anyone going to be so bold and say that the 2004 UM team was better just based on stats? For the record, I am looking forward to seeing how he progresses. Of course, I want UM to beat OSU, but I would like to see what happened to the guy who got away. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | But you just discounted |
But you just discounted Brennen's stats. You will go round and round with this logic. BTW the random peoples' opinions were in response to the homerism comment, not a definitive evaluation of TP's abilities. Read the whole thread. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | You're supporting my point. |
It's not just stats. As simple as that. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | True |
My devil's advocate platform was built on the fact that Brennen broke like 10 all-time NCAA records that year to counter Tebow's 20-20 year. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | Oh. |
I don't by any means think he should switch positions. I'm actually curious to see how he does at QB. Especially since M wanted him so bad. I didn't account for the "Position-Switchers'" Camp. I guess that blows my two faction theory away--unless they are some unsanctioned splinter group of the unbelievers... |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | Yeah |
After re-reading I did make it sound kind of stark. Most people do tend to lean one way or the other, though. I've seen/had this argument so many times on here I can't even invest emotion into it anymore. And since that's the only reply I get from Magnus, I'll assume my point was articulated appropriately and sleep better tonight. ;] |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | I hope you're right. A |
I hope you're right. A porous infield and blown leads easily cost them 15 games last year. Anyway, I'm still optimistic...as long as they go at least 1-6 to start the year. :] |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | Now it's bugging me. |
I swear he dove over it. The commentators even mentioned it a couple times. I wish I would have DVR'd it now. Whatever, I just hope it's not a trend. I would hate to have traded Renteria's noodle arm for a transparent Everett. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | I was merely trying to point |
I was merely trying to point out that you have to take other variables into account when forming an opinion/evaluation. I used Colt Brennen while playing devil's advocate during a Heisman argument against Tim Tebow. If it's all stats, Brennen wins hands down. (Of course, I would pick Tebow for my team any day.) That's when everyone chimes in with "It's not just stats...look at how Tebow does this...look at how Tebow handles that...etc.". But sure enough, anyone who isn't impressed with Pryor (yet) gets an encyclopedia's worth of stats thrown in his face and that's supposed to settle it. Remember, statistically speaking, 2008 OSU had less offensive production than Henne's 2004 UM team--that's including a 13th game. There are two factions on this board: those who are convinced TP is the second coming, and those who are waiting to be impressed. I happen to fall in the latter. Don't get me wrong, TP is a tremendous athlete with undeniable talent. I'm just not that crazy about his QB-ing...yet. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | Thank you. |
The "context of their offense" was kind of what I was alluding to. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | It might have been his chest. |
It might have been his chest. I was averting my eyes at the time. His arm clearly extended past the ball, though. |

| 4 years 6 weeks ago | Who knows with Lyon. I was |
Who knows with Lyon. I was more disappointed with Everett missing that hit up the middle. How do you dive for a ball that goes under your stomach? Of course, if there hadn't been a leadoff walk... I think we'll see that new kid Perry tonight and Fernando Rodney. What I'm really looking forward to is Porcello tomorrow. They can't start 0-7 again. Comerica will have tumbleweed in the stands all year. |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | True but... |
Remember, statistically speaking, Timmy Chang and Colt Brennen are two of the greatest college QBs in the last few decades. You do have to take several variables into account, not just stats. As far as homerism goes, I work right beside an OSU grad who was not impressed with Pryor this year (in spite of results). I also have a cousin who lives in Cincy and has heard many Buckeye fans and media personalities express various levels of skepticism. It's not just this board... |
| 4 years 6 weeks ago | "It is dumb to think his |
"It is dumb to think his passing game won't be drastically improved." Not necessarily. With a new receiving corp TP might just break even. He will probably be throwing more too without an experienced backup. |
| 4 years 7 weeks ago | That's OK... |

The Northwestern game jumps out, but seriously...if anyone saw that game, it deserves a pass. |
| 4 years 7 weeks ago | I'll buy that... |
His TD reception was nasty. It reminded me of Henne's skinny posts, only I knew it couldn't have been the pass... It'll be nice to see him develop over the next 3 years. |
| 4 years 7 weeks ago | Okay...stay on topic...focus... |
"I highly doubt a 12 year old kid would write decently like I do." (Okay, so far so good) "I honestly feel that T-Rob would of started if he would not of got hurt." Ask them who Tressel consulted to get offensive advice while he had Troy Smith on the team. |

Michigan seems to handle them OK, and they destroy OSU at any opportunity. |

1) CBs don't run the offense. 2) There are more than one CB spots on the field. 3) DW still had to compete in practice. How else would the coaches know he was ready? |

I'm sure that anyone who tried to step in and provide direction was quickly shown the door. That's just a problem with celebrity as a whole. Successful people get deluded and surrounded by yes-men and enablers. Just a theory, but yeah, sad. |

At the time of the OP it didn't say anything about crutches or a boot. It was titled something like "Sheridan has serious leg injury" with no other info. It was probably updated by the time you clicked it. Anyway, sounds better for Nick. Well, as good as a broken leg could anyway. I wonder who broke it? I hope they start. |
