Please. If 50% of a company's staff was caught stealing you would immediately question the institutional organization of the company. The chance that half of a blow-off class at Harvard came to the conclusion that they should cheat is an indication that the class was constructed in a way that encouraged it.

I understand the sentiment behind your statement that "Internet piracy is as wrong as stealing," but I just need to point out that the way you phrased it perpetuates a dangerous misunderstanding.
Copyright infringment is, by definition, NOT stealing. It is copyright infringment. In most of the cases we are talking about with SOPA, like downloading a song or a movie, the violation is NOT a criminal offense. Copyright infringment at that scale is a civil matter.
The equivalence you are suggesting, between stealing a CD and downloading one illegally, is false. If I walk into a store and steal a CD, no one else can buy that CD. If I make a copy of that CD, and leave the original there, the artist can still sell that to someone else. Now, you are right, in some cases there IS a lost sale still. If I can download the CD for free, I am not buying it. However, if the CD cost me any money, I may not buy it in the first place. Every illegal download does NOT represent a lost sale or a stolen one.
Of course, in an ideal world, artists are compensated at a level that keeps them making art.

Different kids respond to different types of coaching. Besides that, could it be possible that perhaps, just a little bit, the ESPN cameras were always focused on Rich Rod because his name was constantly being brought up for being on the "hot seat" so while pretty much every coach yells at a couple players every game, you say Rich Rod doing it more?
Also, I wouldn't call you a bad parent for understanding what coaching style is best for your kid. At the same time though, you don't really get to be all defensive about someone suggesting you are a bad parent and then, literally in the same sentence, imply that bad parents let their kids be coached by Rich Rod.

The question is, why would anyone in our athletic department or LSU's tell YOU who we are talking to and about what? In these situations there are about a million details that the general public doesn't need to know and having those details out there just makes it harder to do business.

|4 years 29 weeks ago||1.) Due to the massive number||
1.) Due to the massive number of people viewing, logging in, and posting on the site Brian was forced to implement a number of optimizations to ensure his servers didn't crash under the extremely heavy load of traffic.
2.) One of these optimization measures is to "cache" the front page, meaning that instead of MGoBlog's severs creating a new, specialized front page every time your account views it, it just stores one copy of the front page in its memory and serves that copy to everyone. This is much much more efficient, but it means you cannot get a custom front page that shows you logged in.
3) All of these additional features (posting, pos-banging, ect.) are computationally expensive for Mgoblog's servers to perform. As soon as traffic dies down a bit and the servers can handle the workload, I am sure everything will return back to normal.
Long story short, Brian had to restrict functionality of the site inorder to make it efficient enough to deal with the incredibly high volume of people accessing MGoBlog as the result of the current coaching changes.

To be honest it doesn't really have much to do with the B-school. Its a bit different than the other two people mentioned though, because Ted Kaczynski did continue a relationship with the University or give it millions of dollars in potentially illegally acquired money. That said, can you really project anything from the decisions of one guy onto an institute? In this case, no, probably not.

I have a hard time believing that Northwestern won 6 games more than it statistically should have over two years.
Also, what is the average luck over all teams you studied. Off the top of my head it seems like luck (as you have defined it) should be a zero sum game. If one team is lucky, his opponent is unlucky. Thus it seems everything should average to zero in the end.

What data specifically are you grabbing from the NCAA site? I just wrote a small web crawler that is going through and downloading rosters and team stats for every Div 1 team off of ESPN.com. I am sure it wouldn't be that hard to modify to grab data from the NCAA site. No need to enter by hand.

|5 years 18 weeks ago||Its pretty arbitrary that||
Its pretty arbitrary that alcohol is allowed, but pot isn't. I am pretty sure that this came from the fact that early on in history, drugs like pot were seen as something that would pull people away from the church so of course they built this huge social stigma about them. Alcohol almost went this way as well during the prohibition era. All in all though, it seems fairly arbitrary to me.
There are obviously a lot of tradeoffs to consider (economic, social, ect.). I just wish they would be consistent. There aren't too many reasons that pot should be illegal while alcohol/cigarettes are.
