I was crushed, but I have to be honest . . . I'm still not sure we would have won the game without that call. The call happened with 5 minutes left in the game, not 5 seconds. It put them up five. We still had time to get some stops and get back in it, but we could not get stops. That's why we lost. Sometimes you have to give the other team some credit. Louisville played outstanding to win, and we forced them to have to play outstanding to win. No shame in that.

We are a case in point. We were not able to replicate the luck we had in 2011 in 2012. It can be argued that 2012 was a better team, but it had a worse record than the 2011 team. | 5 days 4 hours ago | Nobody may show up to |
Nobody may show up to watch it, but IMO, the 2014 schedule is really not that bad from a difficulty point of view. Yes the four hardest opponents - ND, MSU, NW, OSU - are all on the road, but they are broken up very nicely.
We have App State at home before we go on the road to ND, we have a Bye before MSU, we have Indiana before NW, and we have a bye then MD before OSU. We also don't play Nebraska or Wisconsin.
I would argue that this year's schedule is actually harder. We don't play all our toughest opponents on the road, but we have to play them all back to back in November.

1) Our basketball team actually belonged in the NC game. We had to win our way in, not be voted in by a compliant adoring media. 2) We have never said anything as stupid as "A strong Notre Dame is good for college football". College football does not have to have a strong Notre Dame (or Alabama or USC or Texas or Florida or Michigan). During the last 25 years, college football has reached unprecedented levels of popularity, and everyone of those progams was weak for some portion of it. So the difference is A) our basketball team actually did return to glory, and B) when it happened we did not proclaim that the whole sport returned to glory just because we did.

Coaches are not waiting anymore to fill out their classes early, save for the afore mentioned can't miss 5-star. Very few recruits have the luxury of dragging out the process into their senior year. It was in a section discussing the players' improprieties and Ed Martin's run ups with the law. It made it sound like Traylor was involved in some kind of illegal activity when he died. He died of a heart attack. Why leave that detail out if you are going to all the trouble to mention where he died and how he was found? If you did not know he died of a heart attack, the article makes it sound (purposely?) like he died of a drug overdose or a gang murder.

It would generate a lot of interest (that means revenue Dave!) due to its timing and the weather. I don't see how you can oversell GA student tickets anyway, given that the student tickets are season tickets. Only 75% may show up for Central Michigan, but all 100% are going to want to show up for Ohio State. What are you going to do with the oversold students for that game? This ^ is why we are better off with the new arrangement. Nobody in the new East has a built in advantage over us the way teams in the Legends Division currently do who do not play Ohio State in a given year. Not playing Ohio State is a huge gift for NEB this year, and they may very well win the Division because of it, even if we beat them head to head. |

DB will use this as a set up to shrink the size of the student section so he can sell more tickets for face value. Even he knows that he can not just shrink the student section without some plausible excuse. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | The marginally interested |
The marginally interested students are purchasing the tickets to get the Ohio State / ND / MSU games. The rest they just skip. There needs to be an easier way for the students to sell those other tickets to people who really want them. Maybe a way to sell them back the the University who can then sell them on-demand to people who want to go. None of this combersome validation stuff.

The new practice facility was still under construction in '08. This I know because I was at a alumni homecomming lunch at Oosterbaan, and I snuck out of one of the side doors to see the outdoor practice field. But then the door locked behind me and I was stuck out there. Nobody could hear me knocking to get back in. So I had to work my way out to the street through the new practice facility construction site and climb up and over the ten foot security fencing to get out. I can vouch that it's a large building. |

If you followed Michigan for a long time, you know how absurd the notion that Michigan would ever be Quarterback U was. That was for Miami or BYU or UCLA. Michigan? On Monday Night Football one night in the '80's, a comment was made by one of the announcers to the effect of "There have been over 10,000 Touchdown passes throwrn in the NFL, and not one of them has been thrown by a Michigan Quaterback". How far we've come. Seems like Brady alone has probably thrown 10,000.

| 3 weeks 5 days ago | Or just stay at the great |
Or just stay at the great party longer and see 3/4ths of the game from row 70. It's not like you won't get a seat, and a decent one at that. I get single game alumni assoc. seats from time to time, which are terrible. They're at the very top of the South end zone, mixed in with the opponent's fans. After the half, I usually go over and sit in the top of the student section. The seats are better, the crowd is more lively (and more Michigan), and you're near the band. They're still pretty good seats. Now imagine sitting in them after your great pre-game party, and life is pretty sweet.
|
| 3 weeks 5 days ago | They should have announced |
They should have announced but delayed the policy for two years so that current upperclassmen were not impacted. If you are an incoming freshman and it's the policy when you come in, you don't really care.
It would be reasonable to ask them to delay this for two years.

If you can convince her to go home with you for the second half, even less of a problem. DB is missing a great marketing opportunity here. Accountability. The coaches are required to face questions after the game about what they did and did not do. The Tournament selection committee is required to face questions about its picks and seedings. Why aren't the Refs required to answer questions after the game about calls they made or did not make? At least tell us your thought process. Maybe we'll learn something. But to act like they can never be questioned and the only accountability is some secret internal review that nobody ever knows the outcome of, is so archaic. |
