I didn't say football experience, though that argument could be made. In HS he probably played more games by being a 3-4 year starter and the HS all-star games. But, playing at Duke and being hated by every opposing fan gives one a form of experience that Sheridan has none of. So, really he has more experience in athletics and quite possibly in football.

Talent is talent and I'm not saying he's better than Forcier but I think he's on-par or better than Sheridan. I know what we're getting with Sheridan and though he may be improved, Paulus has more talent, more maturity and more experience whether it's basketball or football. Talent is talent and Sheridan has little compared to Paulus. Again, not saying he will be better but the potential is there with Paulus and I don't think it is with Sheridan.

Espn mentioned it this morning so if it was a joke that proves that ESPN does very little investigating into their stories.

There was a 5* kicker from Montana who went to Oklahoma them proceeded to drink his way to some NAIA school. There are 5* kickers, they only get the extra 2+ stars for being a badass from Montana.

Edit: He was a 5* to Scout. Rivals did give 4* in the 2002 class though, which was his. Still, you have to be Montanan to get the extra star.

if you actually knew he was being paid. The original article didn't mention it. Also, there are a lot of people who do this and there are companies designed to handle recruiting for players. The one I know of is used by non-star players (NAIA, DII, & 1AA level) to get film out and build awareness and also because these coaches at small schools have a hard time finding the right kids because there are so many of them out there. My buddy used a company like that because he wanted to play anywhere but wasn't good enough to warrant a D-1 scholarship.

Damnit! I made a comment below this, hit save and realized that instead, I should have posted a recipe. So here goes:

Stomach bag and pluck (heart, liver and lights of a sheep --
you can substitute a selection of organ meats)
2 onions, peeled
2 c pinhead oatmeal (Irish oatmeal)
1 2/3 c suet
salt & pepper
trussing needle and fine string

Thoroughly wash the stomach bag in cold water. Turn it inside out and scald it, then scrape the surface with a knife. Soak it in cold salted water overnight. Next day remove the bag from the water and leave it on one side while preparing the filling. Wash the pluck. Put it into a pan, with the windpipe hanging over the side into a bowl, to let out any impurities. Cover the pluck with cold water, add 1 teaspoon of salt and bring the water to a boil. Skim the surface, then simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Meanwhile parboil the onions, drain, reserving the liquid, and chop them roughly. Also toast the pinhead oatmeal until golden brown. Drain the pluck when ready and cut away the windpipe and any excess gristle. Mince half the liver with all the heart and lights, then stir in the shredded suet, the toasted oatmeal and the onions. Season well with salt and pepper. Moisten with as much of the onion or pluck water as necessary to make the mixture soft. With the rough surface of the bag outside fill it just over half full, the oatmeal will swell during cooking, and sew the ends together with the trussing needle and fine string. Prick the bag in places with the needle. Place the haggis on and enamel plate and put it into a pan of boiling water. Cover the pan and cook for about 3 hours, adding more boiling water when necessary to keep the haggis covered.

Yeah, his play was a huge factor. Sheridan's had nothing to do with it. Neither did the shitty O-Line that gave him little time and couldn't run block. The piss poor sheme's, execution and overall level of play by the defense didn't hurt much. The ungodly number of fumbles and the shitty special teams play also weren't huge factors.

Of all the reasons that UM went 3-9, Threet not playing well (while he was hurt) was way down on the list. I would take a guy like Threet next year over a true frosh. Look at how 'well' Pryor did with 2x the talent and being an overall better player than our two frosh QB's. Next year will be a huge struggle without Threet.

He was not a very high recruit. He was a 3* by both sites. He wasn't very fast and would need a few years before he was ready to chip in. Plus, he's not that big either. He was considered a good athlete that could chip in but not a immediate impact guy because he didn't star at one position.

Our AD in HS would not let you chant anything that might hurt the other teams feelings. He said that anything mean said to a player on the opposing team would be suspended from school. So the students started chanting "We Don't Like our AD" and "We have to be nice to you". Then when that was banned they just chanted "Our AD sucks". Since that was at a sold-out game against the cross-town rival, he has left students alone from then on.

Though kids may not want to leave the south because of warm weather, the proximity to home probably plays a bigger factor. I don't see a lot of kids leaving the north to play at non-elite programs in the south. Yeah, the big time schools will get big time players but not many 3* from Indiana go to a southern school for the weather and I would bet that the same holds true for a 3* out of Florida not leaving his home state.

I think there was more to it than that. He kept pressing most of the game and afterwards was asked by school officials to apologize and he refused. Also, I think there was something where he posted some harsh comments about the school officials on a webpage. 100-0 is just being a dick. If I'm the ref in that game I'm calling fouls on his team if they breath hard on the other team.
