So, I've been knocking a few back tonight (which always softens my heart a bit), but I love our guys.  Watching that first video is a perfect reminder of why I am as invested as I am.  These guys are respectable.  They seem like great guys who are in love with the game and know how lucky they are to be able to play the game at Michigan.

However, I'd also want to play SDSU, in that case.  I've been in southern California for the last six years, and I would hate to ever move, if only for the fact that I'd be moving away from some of the best breweries in the world (especially if you like IPAs).  San Diego is my new Mecca.

I was one of the nerds in attendance at ComicCon last weekend.  After the Thor panel, they brought out the entire cast of the Avengers - Downey Jr., ScarJo, Sam Jackson, Chris Evans, etc.  It was pretty cool to see them all up on stage.  There was a huge nerdgasm that wasn't reported on tv.  Joss Whedon was with them, too.

EDIT: Also, for those who aren't keeping up with casting news, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) is set to play Hawkeye, and Mark Ruffalo is the new Bruce Banner now that Ed Norton is out.

Thanks for the info, Tom.  It makes sense, since his dad lives in the area.  I don't blame him.  The nice thing is, we are in good standing with several OL prospects.  Hopefully, we'll pull some in soon to bolster our next class.

After taking Tate and Denard, then Devin, I really like this guy.  I hope he decides on us.  He seems solid, like he wants to play at Michigan.  If we land him, I'd be excited.  Its appears that we're developing quite the depth chart at QB.  I like his size, too.  The QB position is looking good for the future.

In other news, the season is way too far away.  Each day feels like an eternity.  The food and drink menu for the season start is growing tired of being reworked.

A 12'5" 420 lb. linebacker?  I like the sound of that.  Then we'd have two Hulks on defense... at least for one season.  This idea is full of win.

With everything that's going on, I'm continually impressed with the coaching staff's effort in recruiting and their ability to do it well.

I would absolutely love to see Turner and Floyd grab a hold of these spots, no question. I guess I should say that even if he doesn't start, I think Christian is still an important part of our defense this year. Your scenario is the best one for sure. If I made it sound like I expect him to be a lockdown CB, I don't think that's realistic, either. However, I'll feel a lot better knowing he's there to back up the starters.

I wonder why Christian dropped out of the Ohio-Penn Classic. Could it be that with the Dorsey situation, he is trying to stay healthy going into camp? Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist here, but if I had a better than good chance to start as a true Freshman I wouldn't take the risk of getting hurt before I arrive at camp.

Tim, can you give us an idea on why Mateus wasn't rated? I'm not expecting Jake Long greatness from a walk-on, but it would be great to have another lineman to go along with Pace in this class. It would be even greater if he was decent to good.

My father-in-law went to Illinois and he likes to use this term all the time.

When I was a kid my family lived in Spring Lake, MI for a few years. Our favorite place was the Clover Bar for pizza, where I'd sink quarter after quarter playing 1942 (or was it 1941?). Also, walking to The Front Porch for ice cream during the summer months is another good memory.

But, what I remember most about Spring Lake: the big trees - the ones that had been there for a very long time - and Lake Michigan in the summer. Not sure if it has changed over the years, but it remains beautiful in my mind's eye.

Leno's 10:00 show is tanking, driving viewers to other networks. Some sources say that those viewers are not changing the channel back after his show, which is a boost for the other networks.

I still hope that Tate and Denard are more successful next season due to their first year of experience and have DG reshirt, but in the event that Denard does not make those strides it would be that much more beneficial for DG to have the extra time in practice.

Good point. RR's a smart coach. I think he operates with multiple intentions. Getting hard-working players like Vinopal and Johnson, while at the same time creating a pipeline, is a win/win.

We still have to endure the Heisman talk for a bit longer, too. Not to mention all the coverage if he does win it again.
Then, we'll keep hearing where he'll go in the draft. Unfortunately, this is far from over.
But to be fair, he is a great, great player.

This one was hard to watch. It's funny you titled your post as such. I was griping to my wife during the 3rd quarter, saying the only good explanation for this game is that I just went back in time to last year.
Ok, so maybe there are better explanations, but I couldn't see them through my disappointment.
Again, hard to watch. But you're right, 7-5 still looks possible and it's what I was hoping for before the season started.
For me, it's harder to watch because of the 4-0 start. But you know what? 5-3 is already better than 3-9. On to Champaign.

Woolfolk may be the fastest player on the team. The team thinks it's between him and DRob. He's plenty fast.

Before the season started I counted Illinois as a toss up, if not a loss. Things look a bit different now, and still things can change (though not likely, seeing the game today).
Point is, a lot can change. There are so many aspects to the game - physical, mental, emotional - that it's difficult to predict anything in the college game (especially more than a week out).

I think it was a bad move to have the new OC adapt to the players rather than the players adapt to him. It's not like they're any better off doing it that way. Just take the hit (like we did last year) and prepare for the future.

I expected their defense to struggle, but I'm surprised that their offense is nonexistent. I have to agree that right now they look like the worst team in the conference. That's just unacceptable with a QB like Juice. Zook's days are numbered.

I had class this morning (I'm out in California), so I recorded the game and just finished watching about an hour ago. I was PISSED for most of the game until I saw Tate, the Comeback Kid, start to do his thing. When it went into OT I told my wife: "Of course I'll be disappointed if we lose, but I'm glad we finally showed up!"
All that to say, I am disappointed, but I like where we're headed. Our offense looked like they had the swine flu for most of the game, but we are most definitely headed in the right direction. It's only going to get better.

I lived in Spring Lake when I was young (elementary school) before moving to Indiana where I continued through junior high and high school.
My oldest sister went to U of M, which is when the initial seed was planted. I remember one Christmas she gave me a giant block M flag that stayed on my wall all through high school.
The weird thing is, I was a big dope head in high school (not proud of it), and wasn't interested in sports at all, even though my favorite hat was a Michigan hat that I wore constantly despite the yellowed appearance (my senior year was 1997).
What's funny is that I married into an Illini family, and for the first three years of marriage while my wife and I lived in Chicago, we went to Illinois games (one of which was against M). I didn't think anything of it until the Wolverines scored a TD in the first quarter and I leapt up in excitement as I was sitting with my wife's family! They didn't seem to notice, but I had a lot of fun that day (Michigan went on to win). From that time on, it was all over. I was back in love and it has only grown more and more since then.
