Im sorry, are you implying that yung hungry MICHIGAN MEN DURRR would never skip a bowl game because they play at such a fine institution? And that those bottom feeding scum sucking mother fuckers at a fourth tier school like Stanford have no idea what its like to play at a "special" place?

Sure, investing money in education sounds great. But if your investment isn't resulting in improved learning outcomes for students, and is not providing a safe or sanitary environment for students to thrive...whatever he is doing is a net negative.

|1 year 43 weeks ago||Well||
Anthony Davis is trending towards becoming the most dominant big man in NBA history, and we will be blessed if 'Dre tops out as a Dwight Howard doppleganger.
So we probably won't have to worry about Drummond making $30 million a year anytime soon, unless he makes some shrewd moves in the stock market. He's a smart kid - I wouldn't put that past him.
|1 year 43 weeks ago||If you think||
the decision to choose Weiss over Flip cost the Wings another Cup, you haven't been paying attention to the Red Wings the past couple of seasons.
We have been squarely planted in the NHLs middle-class since our last Cup appearence. Players like Weiss or Flip do nothing to change that.
Luckily for the Red Wings, we have seen our farm system emerge into one of the leagues elite and have managed to stay afloat despite some decisions that didn't work out. And it is that farm system that will give us another chance at the Cup, not re-signing a guy who refuses to shoot the puck.
EDIT: No arguments about Hossa v. Franzen. I think the front office got caught up in their dates of birth and Franzen's magical Cup run and made a terrible mistake.
|1 year 46 weeks ago||Outside of Babcock||
Outside of Babcock and a few other coaches, Blashill is as good a hire you can make for any team in any situation. He's a true coaching stud, and someone the Red Wings have been keen to lock up. If Babcock didnt move on, Blashill would be coaching another NHL team right now.
He's had enormous success in Grand Rapids, and he has a very high level of familiarity with much of this team. Combine that with our Top 5 farm system, and I'm super excited about the future of the Wings.
|1 year 48 weeks ago||Interesting.||
Interesting that you'd rank Athanasiou over Mantha. I'd like to think it's more of a compliment to AA's progress and less a slight to Mantha. Mantha is still a tremendous prospect - but our farm system is just that good right now.
A potential line of Helm-Larkin-Athansiou makes me feel weird in my pants.

I'd like to believe that perhaps you're just bitter that these kids did not commit to Michigan, but it's also entirely possible you are sociopaths who really enjoy insulting 17 year old children. Do you remember yourself at 17? Do you remember how impressionable you were? Did you ever admire or look up to a teacher or other adult figure at that age? How would you feel if that person got up and left the next day? It's an incredibly difficult episode for any kid to deal with.
Roquan's coach is absolutely right. There's little that separates Michigan, Alabama and their ilk in terms of facilities, prestige, etc. Relationships matter very, very much. If you're too thick headed to understand that, then stop posting here. There's a lot of recruits that visit these sorts of web sites, and I'd rather they not see you as a representation of the University of Michigan fanbase. Grow up.

of really, really good football players?
|3 years 6 weeks ago||Not enough is being made||
of how good this signing is for Detroit.
I know it's our immediate inclination to poop on anything the Lions do, but signing Golden Tate was an excellent move - and could prove to be a huge steal for just 31 million.
-As someone above mentioned, his drop rate is the best amongst WRs since 2011.
-In 2013, he led all qualified receivers in Yards After Catch per reception
-In 2013, he also led all WRs in Missed Tackles forced. He avoided 21. Calvin, by comparison, avoided 13.
This is an excellent signing no matter how you slice it. Him and Calvin is a scary, scary duo.
Of course, this will all be moot when Jim Caldwell farts all over him.

|3 years 46 weeks ago||You are correct, sir||
And really, if we haven't been so logjammed with second-tier wingers, he would have been up by now. Hell, he might have been up 2 years ago on some of the crappier teams in the NHL. He's a damn good prospect.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||Yes||
Nyquist and Anderson were both eligible.
And it was indeed a ridiculous talent boost. They were losing that series before they got there.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||Yep||
Nyquist and Anderson are shoo-in full timers in Detroit next year. Tatar should be as well. Guys like Sheahan and Ferraro (boy has he turned it around) have outside shots. Calle Jarnkrok, who had a 9 game stint with the Griffins not too long ago, has been hailed as the best Swede import since Zetterberg - and indeed he has broken a lot of his SEL rookie records. He could make the big club straight out of camp next year, though he'll most likely stick with the Griffins.
And I believe Martin Frk will join the Griffins next year as well. The Vowel-less Wonder just finished up a Memorial Cup run averaging 2 PPG(!!!) in which his team basically raped and pillaged the entire junior hockey world. I think they went 77-8-5 or something crazy like that.
|3 years 46 weeks ago||People should pay attention to the Grifs||
Detroit's prospect pool has become pretty deep the past few years, and a lot of these guys in GR may very well be in Red Wings uniforms next year.
Take notice of the job our scouting has done, guys. With no early picks, we've managed to put together a farm system that's ranked near the top of the league. Seriously. Here's a juicy tidbit for ya: 4 different defenseman prospects in the Wings system won their leagues respect Defenseman of the Year trophys - and one of them, Ryan Sproul, was the OHL Defenseman of the Year. Take a look at the past winners of that trophy. That is a definitively Big Deal.
So for all of us who are clamoring for more help - be patient. The future is looking very, very bright for Detroit. This so-called rebuilding phase is about to be usurped by another era of outstanding homegrown talent.

You took the minor point I made and drove it off a cliff, but alright?
|4 years 39 weeks ago||Wasn't so hot against Rodgers and Brees?||
You don't say!
A little brevity is important here. profootballfocus, which examines and grades players on a per-play basis, had Berry ranked as one of the few CBs in the league with a positive coverage rating. Regardless of what you may think, the evidence shows he is - at the very least - NOT a bad cornerback. The Lions are in desperate need of guys in the secondary who don't suck. As it stands, they've got two average guys(Houston, Delmas) and a whole lot of To Be Determined's.
|4 years 39 weeks ago||Big blow for the Lions||
Personal conduct aside, this a huge hit for the Lions' secondary. Berry was far better than most will give him credit for here - he was Detroit's best CB on a per-play basis, and looked to possess some Pro Bowl potential with a full season of starting under his belt.
One of those mid-round picks really needs to pan out. And soon.

I sure hope they're not after Dempsey, and it appears they're not - thankfully. He's a great player, sure, but Arsenal needs to have bigger aspirations and signing a 29 year old forward/mid tweener without great pace isn't a need. He doesn't really fit in their 4-3-3.
I do hope Deuce plays CL football somewhere, though.
|4 years 42 weeks ago||Land Suter||
and regardless of whatever else happens, the offseason is an A+. It'd be nice to land Parise, but that's not happening, and I don't like the price tag for a guy like Nash (huge contract hit, loss of really good young prospects, locked up until 2018). If a guy like Bobby Ryan is available, he might be worth the gamble - but I'm content with staying put up front and letting our farm system grow.
And if we can flip Franzen for someone, that'd be fine by me too.
|4 years 46 weeks ago||Since you're||
admittedly ignorant about prospects in the Wings system, how do you know we don't have such players being developed? I and another guy have already directed you towards a plethora of kids who are projected to be top-line players in the NHL - certainly on par with a scrub like Wolski.
My guess is you have not researched this very thoroughly, and are thus banking on the results produced by prodigies like Crosby and Stastny to support your argument. It's weak sauce, dude. By and large, players who are 21 in the NHL are extremely raw and hurt the teams they're playing for - even if they're producing points at a decent clip. This isn't rocket science - playing guys that young doesn't prove anything about your organizational depth, it often just means your desperate.
|4 years 46 weeks ago||Really, dude?||
That's your angle? Well I'm sorry, but you're not gonna find Anze Kopitar or Ilya Kovalchuk in our farm system. Or any farm system, save for them team lucky enough to pick 1st overall.
And newsflash: Hall-of-Famers on your second line don't exist anymore. This is 2012, not 2002 - you'll be lucky to have one on your whole roster.
|4 years 46 weeks ago||I'm sorry, you're wrong||
The Red Wings obviously don't have the high-draft picks to nurture the blueiest blue-chip prospects, but they have a substantial amount of kids on the farm who project as All-star caliber if things go right with them.
Your point about the Red Wings playing their veterans is irrelevant - the majority of our prospects are under 21 years old and are in no way ready for the NHL. Teams that DO play prospects so young are also the ones you usually see picking at the top of the draft again the next season. And for the record: Datsyuk emerged as a 23 year old after playing in Russia's highest league, Zetterberg emerged as a 22 year old coming out of the Swedish Elite League(the best league outside of the NHL), and Franzen was DRAFTED as a 24 year old before emerging at 26. It's worth noting that 2 of those 3 guys are some of the best forwardsin NHL history, and using them as a barometer to measure our young talent isn't all that fair.
So you're overreaching a bit here - the only guys in our farm system over the age of 22 are Brendan Smith and Gustav Nyquist(I'll exclude Mursak since he's already graduated and seeing regular minutes) - both of whom are(SUPRISE!) ranked as top-notch prospects by every recruiting publication and seem poised to play fulltime next season. Ipso facto - right on schedule.
-weve currently got Calle Jarnkok rewriting the record books Zetterberg penned in the SEL - as a 20 year old!
-Tatar has owned the AHL as a 20-21 year old. Sheahan is making the jump in his year-21. Joakim Anderrson is a bit overaged, but expect him to be manning Detroit's checking line soon.
-Tomas Jurco is currently eviscerating all comers in the QMJHL.
-Ditto defensemen Xavier Oullet and Ryan Sproul(OHL)
-I havent even mentioned Petr Mrazek, who may be our best goalie prospect...ever.
And there's a host of others all doing VERY well in their respective minor league division and they're ALL under 21. The organization is flowing smoothly, folks. I'd recommend following this website for more regular info on your future Wings:
|4 years 46 weeks ago||I like your thinking||
The truth is a lot of the success we see from other teams is a direct by-product of nits they picked from our philosophy.
I'm very excited to see what the young guys coming up in our organization will do. If guys like Suter and Parise are out there, go after them - but I'd rather not spend 2 or 3 million on a guy whose only advantage over our current crop on the farm is their NHL experience. Detroit is brimming with talent in Grand Rapids and the minors. Given time, this 20 year dynasty we've seen could be extended to 40. Holland knows that, and I'm excited to see what happens.
And let's be honest, the Stanley Cup Finalists are nothing to emulate - the Kings were in the bottom 5 of the league in scoring all year long and scraped into the playoffs. Funny shit happens in a best-of-7 series. That's all you can take from that.
|4 years 46 weeks ago||I've come to the conclusion||
99% of Red Wings fans are miserable failures at life, as evidenced by their same tired argument of "needing to get tougher" and all sorts of ridiculous roster ideas in the wake of a playoff exit.
The Red Wings are fine, the farm system is awesome, and no - they're never going to get as tough as you like. They play hockey, and they're one of the best at it. Sometimes you win, sometimes you dont. The job Holland, Babock and co. have done since the lockout has been remarkable - just look at the roster in 06 compared to now. The parts are constantly shifting, but the priorities remain the same and the results always show the Wings at the top of the league.
Now let's get back to talking about Alexander Semin as a possible replacement for Nick Lidstrom. What a tremendous idea.
|4 years 46 weeks ago||Who the F cares?||
It's recruiting. It's kids were talking about. Some will be goodt, some wont be, others will fade away into oblivion and make you feel like asshats for caring so much about their star ratings in the first place. If you think this kid is "taking up a scholarship," well, go fuck yourself - suddenly you're an expert on the proper make up of a football team? And insulting the kids worth in the process? We get it. You all think long snappers are easy to coach up. Hoke and co. obviously think this kid is a gem and he's worth their attention - and they're clearly not excited about any of the other hopefuls on the roster once Glanda leaves.
I've already said more than I should. None of you should care so much about how recruiting scholarships and priorities are allocated. Welcome aboard, Scott. All of us could have only hoped to have been as smart as you as a 17 year old - turning your unique talent into a full-ride scholarship, avoiding a lifetime of what-ifs about your overrated athletic ability and developing a penchant for posting on Michigan message boards begging for MOAR OMG SHIRTLESS recruits.
|4 years 46 weeks ago||Was gonna post a seperate thread||
for this, but I figure the mGo community has a strict one-futbol post limit on the main page. But Shinji Kagawa is officially off to ManU for a reported 18 mil. Though I'm not a Devils fan, Borussia Dortmund is my de facto second-team and Kagawa was brilliant the past two years in Germany. Not enough has been made about how good that Dortmund side was this season, and Shinji was the catalyst. His creativity is endless and his passes are smart and always on target. Rooney is going to love this guy, and he can now act as more of a striker and let Kagawa take care of the midfield dirty work. Considering Hazard was sold to Chelsea for about 3 times that, SAF got himself a steal. He'll be a household name this time next year.
|4 years 46 weeks ago||England's terrible||
I hate to speak in absolutes, but the team has no hope or creativity up front, and their central defense is terrible. I truly think England will return to form in '14(Kyle Walker, Phil Jones, The Ox, Wilshere and a host of others should all be world-class by then), but until then they're stuck with a stodgy bunch lacking creativity. I mean, cmon, Steven Gerrard is starting for them - in 2012!
Germany and Spain are by far the favorites, but don't be surprised to see Greece or Russia make some noise coming out of an easy group - and Italy is better than some think. They have a chance to steal one right off the bat from a Spanish side that hasn't played a whole lot together. No such problem for the Azzuri, and their refreshingly creative-minded head coach has a lot of toys at his disposal.
|4 years 47 weeks ago||Really excited about this kid||
Concerns about his ability to cover can be extrapolated to 90% of LBs in the NFL today - it's something very few LBs ever actually end up being good at. He's instinctive? He's a ridiculously efficient tackler? Sign me up.
There's guys like Ross, and there's guys like former FSU 5-star commit Nigel Bradham, who got ranked as a 5-star solely because he gave rivals pundits boners with his size and bodybuilder physique. Talk to any FSU fan today and you wont hear very nice things about Mr. Bradham. Give me a guy whose best attribute is his ability to actually play football, I dont give a crap about size.
|4 years 47 weeks ago||What the fuck is wrong with some of you?||
Holland's legacy tarnished? Detroit nowhere near championship caliber? A replacement for Howard? Are you fucking insane? This team was at the top of the NHL last season before the injuries set in, and that was without playing their best hockey even during their record home winning streak. So we lost in the first round. Who the fuck cares, it happens. To suggest the Red Wings are on the brink of collapse is asinine - and doubting Howard's status is a legit #1 goalie has no merit. Besides, you should have learned something since our run of greatness started - a goalie is far more replaceable than any position on the ice. If the Red Wings take care of business shoring up the defense, it doesn't matter who's in goal. Christ, some short guy with a stupid mask and whom the Red Wings deemed replaceable multiple times is currently looking like a HOF shoo-in because of the philosophy of Holland and co. Build the core of your roster - going gaga over trying to get the next Rinne or Lundqvist is just a waste of roster space and money. Luckily, our front office is smarter than that, and I only have to hear that kind of drivel on a message board.
Take a gander at the Red Wings prospect pool before you throw in the towel about the Red Wings longterm legitimacy. They're ranked in the top half by every recruiting service, some even in the top 10. They've got Brandon Smith, Tomas Tatar, Jan Mursak, Gustav Nyqvist, Tomas Jurco, Calle Jarnkok(whom many have called the next Zetterberg and he's currently at a blistering point-per-game pace in the notoriously stingy Swedish Elite League) and a host of other excellent draft picks who are developing at the proper pace. Every year the Wings lose we hear the same shit - get tougher, we need a #1 goalie, blah blah. And every year were at the top of the NHL again because this team is built pretty fucking awesome and fans are stupid and overreact when we're not hoisting the Cup.
Anyways, God speed to the greatest European player to ever play the game.

where everyones infatuated with any 6'2+ receiver with a high SPARQ rating or nice 40 times, it's nice to know that - based on some very convincing highlights - we have a guy whose best asset appears his ability to catch the football away from his body. Just my epinion, but I think that's the single greatest asset you can coach into a young WR, and he's already ahead of the curve against kids years older than him in that regard.

|4 years 51 weeks ago||The only thing I really like about the European model||
is Relegation. I love it. Absolutely love it. If you want to suck as much ass as the Lions, Pirates, or Blue Jackets, there should be a B-league for them to be demoted to where they can sit in a corner and think about what they've done, and turn things around in. Relegation in Europes top-flight is a nerve-wrecking, but its also quite exciting and makes the late-season revivals of teams like Wigan in the EPL rather inspirational. I'd rather watch teams fight for the right to survive, as opposed to tanking to see who will get Anthony Davis in the NBA draft.
I'm not really a fan of the "capitalist" spending and transfers and all that, I guess. It's not something that truly bothers me, but it does get annoying when you know that the best players in a Brazilian or Danish league will inevitably be courted by Madrid, Barca or United - and there's no way any of those teams can say no the money those franchises offer them.
|4 years 51 weeks ago||City deservedly ahead||

Oops.
And yeah, the only one with a prayer of being a day one pick is Taylor Lewan. Honestly, I'd be very happy for Roy if he evens gets drafted.

I don't like you. The minute you started talking, I instantly recognized you as someone suffering from DoesntKnowShit-itis. I'll keep it very brief - obviously ranking playearrs who are all world-class in the first place(Datsyuk, Giroux, Malkin, Stamkos etc) is a fruitless, subjective exercise. But other than Pavel Datsyuk, there isn't a more promising two-way player in the league today than Claude Giroux - and he's 10 years younger than Datsyuk. If you want to use the opinions of people within the NHL, I think you'll find yourself to be even more of an idiot when you see how universally-lauded Giroux is as one of the three/five/ten/whatever best players in the world.

I'll keep it very brief - obviously ranking players who are all world-class in the first place(Datsyuk, Giroux, Malkin, Stamkos etc) is a fruitless, subjective exercise.
|5 years 3 days ago||Its easy to hate Man U||
Their fanbase is insufferable, but all things considered, they're an admirable team to root for. Much like the Red Wings, everyone hates their success, but their roster is mostly built through youth and their academy is outstanding.
As much as I love City's jerseys and their new ownership doing whatever it takes to build a winner, they're a jumbled mess of an All-Star team that can click occasionally(like their 6-1 thrashing of Man U earlier), or be the sideshow they've been the past few months. David Silva and Samir Nasri are two of the best players in the world - they've both tailed off dramatically the past month or so(especially Silva). Dropping Balotelli was smart, and it opens the door to the real wild card next week - Tevez. If he's truly back in form, then Ferdinand and the boys are going to have their hands full on defense.
I still say Man U wins, but I'm not against watching some City magic. Honestly, next season can't come soon enough - English football has been embarrassing this year, but I believe Arsenal is destined for greatness next season. Hopefully changes at Liverpool and Chelsea will bring the league to prominence. Right now its one good team(ManU), one really good team that's also really bad(City), and those lovable Magpies lurking around. Meh.

Shanahan must have just asked him for whatevers in his wallet on the way out of the arena.
|5 years 12 weeks ago||Shane Doan||
Is the one I've liked to hear the most. He's a short-term rental all the way as a UFA this summer, and he's an older, skilled, tough player who has that rare "captainesque" quality that makes hockey heads cream thinking about him. He can rotate on any line, he's an insane luxury to have on a 2nd or Checking Line with his defensive skills, and he's deadly on the powerplay. In better confines, he would have been a regular 70-80 point player.
I've personally always liked the guy, and I've seen him give it to the Wings hard a few times, and it'd be nice to see him on our side as he tries desperately to ride off into the sunset on a high note. The guy has spent his entire career in Phoenix - I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy.
|5 years 12 weeks ago||For starters||
They're probably selling this kid on the fact that Iowa has kinda kicked around Michigan in recent years. Sometimes recent history shows a kid a lot more about a program than our national titles 100 years ago.
|5 years 12 weeks ago||Well||
That's why its called recruiting, isnt it? It's not hard to see why so many recruits go so many different places with all the dynamics that go into trying to convince a 17 year old kid (who has never made a grown-up decision in his life) to pick your school over another school.
|5 years 31 weeks ago||Yeah uh||
It definitely reads like a bulldyke lesbian named Tracee Hamilton wrote that article.
There's really nothing of susbstance in her drivel. She's spouting that "think of the KIDS and the FANS" angle as if the airfare or roadtrips are so much of an inconvenience for schools to avoid making more money, solidifying themselves in a better conference, and expanding their recruiting footprint. Has anyone told her Boston College and Florida State are about a million miles apart? Oh wait. That doesn't make for a good story. Crying about realignment does.
With that said: I'd hit it. With a shovel.
|5 years 33 weeks ago||Ale House||
is the place I would go to. The good things is the Wolverines always played at different times than UF so I'd just be posted up there with a friend and loaded nachos enjoying the game without any distractions. I'd also watch us get our heart ripped out by MSU and Wisky shitkicking us with tears running down my face in the middle of a half-empty restaurant, but that's another story.
I would also recommend checking out the The Woodlands apartment complex and see if their big screen is available at game time. As long as the UF game isn't on, you should be clear of the residents. It's pretty fucking sweet and it's got all the cable channels.
|5 years 33 weeks ago||Here's a good visual summary of ND's performance|
|5 years 33 weeks ago||He wouldn't have started over Spievey||
And his skills are extremely overrated. He's not the worst safety ever, but he's not deserving of a Pro Bowl status either.
|5 years 34 weeks ago||I don't quite get||
What Robert Griffin doing well has to do with having hope for Denard. Two distinctly different QBs, sans their skin color. Griffin was a prized QB recruit that the Longhorns desperately wanted. He's always had a ton of polish and was setting records as a freshman for Baylor.
My hopes don't lie with Denard. His body of work is enough evidence to suggest that this guy is coachable and has an insane desire to improve himself - he will most definitely be a better, smarter QB this season.
My hopes lie with Al Borges and his ability to take advantage of what he has the same way Griffin's coaches do.
|5 years 35 weeks ago||Yeah||
And A&M is an awesome school if he wants to get into crop dusting. So cut him some slack.
|5 years 35 weeks ago||In response||
A) It's not too difficult to comprehend. I'm simply stating that if the coach simply KNOWS so and so is fasting for Ramadan, they might not stick a dick up their ass if they put their hands on their knees to catch wind once or twice. That's all I'm suggesting.
B) No. Because Muslims everywhere else in the country don't have the luxury the kids at Fordson do of practicing after dark. We adhered to the same practice habits as everybody else in high school.
C) Football is a fulltime job for any kid at a major school. The summer is a painstaking hellhole for any Muslim fasting whether you play football or not. I know this firsthand.
So yeah, I obviously don't agree with this concept of delaying his development for the sake of Ramadan - because he's still gonna fast for 30 days in the heat of next summer. And the summer after that. 2 a days or not, I just wouldn't think he'd cease participating in football activities because of this.
|5 years 35 weeks ago||Highly doubt that||
As a Dearborn resident and with a huge swath of my family having been to Fordson(some knowing Baquer extremely well), I doubt his absence(If true) has anything to do with Ramadan. Now, I've heard my friends who know him that he's still there - but I wont pretend to know for sure. Whatever. All I can say is the Ramadan excuse doesn't hold very well because A)most coaches are more than accomodating B)most kids usually don't have to be accomodated in the first place, there are numerous instances with Muslims practicing through two-a-days. My brother having been one of them in college. and C)if his plan was to take the year off, it's only going to get worse next year since Ramadan is based on the lunar calendar, and it will go back ~11 days depending on the moon. So really, the next 5 or 6 years are gonna suck ass for us.
Oh, also D) there are quite a few Muslims in Dearborn who actually don't fast, esp. a lot in the younger generation. But I wont presume anything about Baquer.
Just some food for thought. Ramadan definitely has nothing to do with it. Kids like Baquer played football their whole lives dealing with it.
|5 years 35 weeks ago||I went to UF||
And went to enough games to shit all over this guys assessment of Florida's gameday atmosphere. And I don't even like rooting for the Gators. I'm sure the guy may have run into a screaming redneck or two, but it certainly isn't prevalent. At all. Besides, we have enough coeds to take your mind off the fact that it may seem like a KKK convention every now n then. Just think of the coeds. Overrated, my ass.
|6 years 14 weeks ago||Really?||
Tayshaun is the same player he's been since his sophmore season. Not bad, not great, and far too expensive.
So maybe he's not past his prime. But his "prime" isn't that glorious in the first place.

Do news reports detailing what an asshole Les Miles is for booting deserving kids off the team have no effect on you, or are you intentionally being dense?
I'm not calling Les Miles an asshole for the fun of it. I wasn't against his hire in 2007. But, you know, the research and FACTS and his own SOUND BYTES others have exposed from him kind of 100% confirms the guy is an asshole. Read more, dude.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||Wait, what?||
RichRod trying to vouch for kids who come from horrible backgrounds in horrible school districts(all the while the kid KNOWS the whole time that he may or may not get in depending on Admissions or Clearinghouse) is the same as Les Miles lying to kids about their opportunity to play at LSU....when they're already at LSU and living on campus? Are you sick?
|6 years 15 weeks ago||No||
You're unaware of what an asshole you're coming off as questioning the moral values of people on a message board whom you don't know. Man up and realize that.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||EXACTLY||
I never personally insult people, but if someone chooses to assume what my or anyone elses morals are that they don't know...well then that person has earned anything coming their way. If jmblue had a shred of dignity he'd apologize, but I think we can more or less expect to him to just keep replying to posts trying to earn the last word.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||Meaning||
They were hugely successful.....before...Miles...was hired...right...dumbass? This web of BS you're weaving is silly. Les Miles took over team that established its prominence in the NCAA with a recent national title and a plethora of top-ranked recruiting classes. He carried on Saban's "hugely successful" run at LSU. Are you really trying to nitpick at something like this? Try again, dude. Noone's talking about the 80s and 90s.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||No you haven't||
You pretentious diick. Reading some of your drivel around here makes me wonder how you even manage to put one foot in front of the other every day standing knee deep in your own bullshit.
Les Miles has a lot of blackmarks and a lot of us are aware of that. Him becoming Michigan's coach will no expunge him. He's still ruined enough kids lives, and many of us will never feel good about our success with him as coach. What you think of peoples motives is completely irrelevant and ultimately just you believing your own bullshit. Have at it, little guy.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||You really think||
this rabid, wounded fanbase/alumni wouldn't turn a blind eye to any sort of infractions right now if it meant winning 11 games a year? Please. Like most would ever give a shit if Ray Vinopal was mysteriously given a medical redshirt in order for Joe 5-star to enroll. I do. A lot of good Michigan fans do.
I'm not standing over any ledge. There's just no rational reason to bring in Les Miles with the program already on probation. His success at a school that would be hugely successful with or without him should mean nothing.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||Urban Meyer and Mark Richt||
coached and had great success in the SEC, and they never had to sign a 30 person class to do it. Try again.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||No we wont||
So don't speak for us. Les Miles is a terrible human being. And it has nothing to do with him fucking peoples wives, being a complete dumbass of a coach, and eating grass...no, those are all completely independent from why he's a horrible fit for a university trying its best to make the right, clean hire.
The man baldly lies about kicking a deserving kid off the football for no other reason except to make room for somebody else. He's been culturally-engrained with the SEC style of oversigning a full recruiting class every cycle, and he would have no problem booting every single kid off Michigan's roster if it meant a "better, younger" prospect would commit. He's not a Michigan Man by any measure anymore, for those of you who actually care for labels like that. He's a sleezebag. And that wont change. His actions will get Michigan the death penalty in the Big Ten one day.

|6 years 21 weeks ago||Hey||
I fucking ACED those MEAP tests back in the day, compadre!
|6 years 21 weeks ago||Sorry||
I labeled them as Pahokee Thugz to get the point across, considering a lot M fans were iffy about letting any 18 year olds with dreadlocks and gold teeth through the doors of Schembechler Hall....ignoring what clearly upstanding young men guys like Odoms, Hawthorne and Smith are.
|6 years 21 weeks ago||Shitty article||
But the shittiest part is his laughable assertion that Jim Hardballs recruits less "borderline kids" academically as opposed to RichRod, who loves him some Pahokee Thugz.
Stanford dealt with an epic facelift in their 2010 class, constantly dealing with recruits who committed and were later decommitted to the fact that Harbaugh - in a noble gesture, just like Rodriguez with Dorsey, Witty, and others - fought for their clearance into the university. But it was not to be. Which is cool, but don't try knocking down Richrod for something Jimmy Hardballs is clearly guilty off.
|6 years 21 weeks ago||..||
|6 years 22 weeks ago||You fucking moron||
Who the hell ever said RichRod ran Mallett out of town? If you read the tea leaves, Mallett was on his way out before Lloyd ever resigned. He wasn't liked by his teammates at all. Arrington and Manningham were always gonna leave as well. What is this shit you tell yourself and convince yourself is true? Is it something others in the fanbase do?
And LOL at the Urban comment in spite of present-day Florida having awkward QB in his system. It worked okay when they had a top-ranked defense bailing out their average offense in 2006, but Urban is just like RichRod or any other coach in the sense that he needs players that are tailored to his system. So drop the "RichRod doesn't adjust and he ran superduper stars like Mallett and Manningham outta town" bullshit.
|6 years 22 weeks ago||Regardless||
Of whatever fucked up, subjective measure you come up with to evaluate QBs or any player - Denard is absolutely in the discussion as the best QB in the Big Ten. And he's done that that basically as a RS Freshman. Michigan's struggles are not his - he's been streaky, but his margin for error is so much smaller when he has Michigan's D and not Iowa, OSU or Wisky's backing him up and fans think he should be downgraded for that.
His passing numbers are up to snuff, and he's making history as a rusher. He deserves it.
|6 years 23 weeks ago||The duck says||
See ya in an hour.
|6 years 23 weeks ago||Cool||
Now that we've got that outta the way...got any grapes?
|6 years 23 weeks ago||JR Hemingway not big enough for you?||
The dude's gut has got its own zipcode.
|6 years 23 weeks ago||Sigh||
I couldn't care less who's a "better RB." Mike Hart obviously has a pedigree none of our current backs have. Well guess what? Denard counts as a runner, and he's been Mike Hart's equal as a rusher. And the team, as a whole, OBLITERATES Michigan's 2006 unit. Denard/Smith/Shaw/Hopkins have put up production unheard of during the Carr years, and most of these guys are underclassmen.
As for WRs, what exactly is so hard about declaring Roundtree/Stonum/Hemingway as better receivers than Manningham and Arrington? Just look at the numbers. Our guys have been good, and while none of them are as individually talented as Mario, they've put up great numbers when given the chance in a run-heavy offense. This isn't farfetched.
Chad vs Denard isn't even a comparison. While Chad may have an "NFL arm," Denard's passing effiency shits all over Henne's, and Henne had a much more experienced team around him. Denard is just learning to PLAY QB, and he's got better numbers across the board.
So there's nothing hyperbolic at all about declaring Michigan's 2010 offensive unit as a better one than 2006. In fact, it's rather fucking retarded for people like you to sit there and equate NFL standing with how good these guys were in college. Henne, Hart, and Manningham may all be better NFL players than the guys we have, but the guys we have are currently setting the Michigan record book on fire, and they just started playing together. So, in closing, my comments were absolutely justified, and you're a bumbling fucking moron.
|6 years 23 weeks ago||Uh||
Roy Roundtree, David Molk, and and Denard may not be future NFL headliners, but they - and the rest of this offense - are way better than the 2006 outfit. In every facet.
The 2006 team had an excellent defense(though ultimately not great when they got shitcanned by the 2 best teams on the schedule). Offensively, Michigan's 2010 unit is the best in recent history.
|6 years 23 weeks ago||You're wrong||
You were just debunked in the previous post. Stop talking.
|6 years 27 weeks ago||Show me how this makes any sense||
Look, I know Tate's polished as a passer and we'd like to give him the upper hand in that regard - but the reality is the numbers are just about equal, if not in Denard's favor. Sure, he makes some bad throws - but so does Tate, so why so much give for Tate here? Their passing capabilities are not appreciably different.
Meanwhile, Denard is like the fastest fucking dude in the universe.
So, tell me. Please tell me. How the fuck do coaches gameplan any harder if we have a second, more limited QB entering the game? The fucking playcalls aren't gonna be any different on our end. But we sure as shit will be a lot easier to stop running the ball. So, really, all that shit about making teams work harder is utter rubbish and just formulated by you to justify the use of a more limited QB who just so happens to impress you in games that are mostly out of reach.
|6 years 27 weeks ago||Ok||
How about "Rich Rodriguez. Coach. Head. Michigan, University of. Ann Arbor. says he's your fucking QB" does that quench your insatiable appetite to obtain completely arbitary percentage numbers?
|6 years 27 weeks ago||Er||
his energy and desire to try to make plays was the only thing really keeping us alive against Iowa.
Er, no. Our playbook kept us alive. And it always will, provided we dont fumble or throw picks in the redzone. Both our quarterbacks can do this - and only one of them has otherworldly ability to run the ball too. Pretty sweet combo, right? Did you know he LEADS THE FUCKING NATION IN RUSHING YARDS?
|6 years 27 weeks ago||If you think||
that a healthy Denard secedes 50% of his snaps to Tate, then you're cork-on-fork retarded. 30% is still insane, and I thank God every day that these kinds of people never have a position of responsibility anywhere near a football team.
Denard is your quarterback. And he's really, really fucking good. Deal with it.
|6 years 27 weeks ago||This is football||
A game. Not war. Kthxbye
|6 years 27 weeks ago||Oh, this is high school football?||
Thanks for the reminder!
|6 years 28 weeks ago||Two things||
1, your comments in regards to RichRod are stupid. How exactly does he invest so much into one player? Are we to assume Rich literally schemes the offense - THE OFFENSE HE INVENTED - to have just one...ONE...great player and a pile of shit around him, and if that One Player goes down, his system fails? No. That's a crock. Every fucking team in the nation would be appreciably worse without their best player - especially if that player is a Quarterback. So that attempted point doesn't compute with any rational, thinking human being. I'm sure all Sparty fans are so glad RichRod is our coach based on your 3-0 record against him, but its hardly due to his own coaching patina. The guy is one of the best minds in the game, he's had some downfalls on his defense(some his own doing, some not) and overwhelming inexperience at key positions since he's got here, and we're lucky to have somebody as innovative as him our head coach. Maybe your comments please all those Walmart Wolverines nodding their heads approvingly at your post, but that shit doesn't fly with anyone who doesn't have their head up their own ass.
When I was in undergrad and Lloyd was running the show, guys like Edwin Baker, Le'Veon Bell and heck even the 2-star Kirk Cousins would have without a doubt been considering Michigan before even thinking about State.
^^^This is just a load of shit. What point are you even trying to make there? Is there a point? Is this some sort of non-sequitor? Ya, let's all pretend things would be so rosy with Lloyd around and every good player on MSU would be in a UM uniform instead and everything would be juuuuuuuuuuuuuust fine if we just ran a GODDAMN I-FORMATION I TELL YA LIKE THOSE BOYS IN EAST LANSING DO! Sorry, but no. Props to MSU and their recruiting efforts. Major props. But we're doing our thing too. You know, like turning an "athlete" whom schools wanted for defense into perhaps the most dangerous QB in college football.
So, in summation, just fuck off. You came here appeasing to the most diseased gene pool in our fanbase - the Michigan fans who want RichRod to fail and relish his every misstep in order to accelerate the "return to the way things were." Thank you for your commentary, and enjoy your victory. Denard wont be missing wide open receivers for TDs next time around, friend. And above all, Go Blue.
|6 years 29 weeks ago||Slow down||
It's sort of a backhanded compliment to suggest guys like RichRod and Urban need "their" players to be successful. This is false. The talent level at UF is remarkable, but their offensive line is porous. Just like our offensive line prevented us from making a run against better competition last year. Texas has struggled mightily with blocking too, and that's why theyre unsuccessful.
Urban and RichRod have both proven they can win with any sort of QB. No "adjustments"(as posted above me suggests) are necessary. Just better blocking.
|6 years 29 weeks ago||Are we seriously||
complaining about a formation we use .1% of the time? Jesus, who gives a shit if we're good at it or not? We're really freaking good at doing anything else on offense. I really cant believe some of you actually concern yourselves with shit like this mere hours after our team just won another huge game.
|6 years 29 weeks ago||No, no.||
It's basic formation strategy. The outside corners always line up, the slot corners cover the shallow field.
|6 years 29 weeks ago||What adjustment?||
Go find some DBs who can cover Tanden freaking Doss and maybe Gerg will think about it. There's no shame in getting burner by an awesome player.
|6 years 29 weeks ago||Well||
They might be more balanced, but nobody is as good as Indiana at passing the ball, so we've got that out of the way.
If you want to know so badly, I would really suggest sending the coaches an email or telegram or something. The coaches are dealt a hand full of freshman, sophmores and a 5th year senior in Rogers who flips positions every year. What difference did it make if he was lined up in his face? He got burned on a sluggo route for 50 yards too. Better to let them bleed you and hope they make a mistake, as opposed to getting your head chopped off trying to play this "bump n run" coverage everyone is pining for.
You knew how bad this defense was in the preseason. Don't be surprised when they come up short all the time. How about praising them for all the second half stops, and the amazing play of Martin and our 3 man rush?
|6 years 29 weeks ago||Cool suggestion||
Not official 'till you put it in the suggestion box, though. It's right over there next to the chips n dip.
|6 years 29 weeks ago||You do realize that, when||
You do realize that, when Terry is 3 yards off his man in the slot and Rogers is 10 yards off his guy on the outside, there's a coaching reason for that - right?

|6 years 30 weeks ago||Im sorry||
but their list of top head coaches features BILL SNYDER - THE SAUSAGE KING OF SUCKING ASS - and not RichRod.
Granted, ranking players and coaches is sophomoric and a stupid thing to argue about, but that is just so awful it has to be mentioned to avoid anybody confusing Rivals with people who know anything about anything.
|6 years 30 weeks ago||From what I can gather||
Rivals seems to overrate the kid compared to most recruiting services. I havent seen his rank with scout or Lemming, though, and I don't think Michigan or MSU has made him a priority. Which says something.
|6 years 30 weeks ago||Why||
Are Dee and the D mutually exclusive? They're both going to be part of Michigan's recruiting efforts. I don't see why this is even being discussed. We're recruiting Dee Hart. We're recruiting defense. Favoring one over the other seems like a senseless exercise.
Guys, should I drink milk in the morning OR drink water? Do both, you numbskull.
(EDIT: And of course, the original question is already heavily slanted. Gee, do I want one player at a position of moderate need or a broad, vagua sweeping generalization about our needs all over the defense? DURRR )
|6 years 30 weeks ago||Lloyd says||

|6 years 30 weeks ago||Because||
When she says "Touchdown Michigan!" she says it with the gusto of an eggplant and the attractiveness of a hyenas asshole.
|6 years 30 weeks ago||Well, I am interested.||
I'm interested in trying to convince as many Michigan fans as possible to see the forest for the trees, realize we've won 8 total games in 2 years, and milk every single win for as much as they're worth. That's all.
I'm a sports junkie, and I can talk all night and day about our advantages and disadvantages against Indiana. But I love this team, and this team needs all our love for the game they just won. I just think looking ahead to the next game 3 hours after the last one is a misuse of time for Michigan fans.
|6 years 30 weeks ago||RichRod||
gives his team 24 hours to enjoy the victory before focusing on the next opponent.
I suggest we try to do the same thing and realize how much we should cherish the victories we obtain. Because we haven't been entitled to any in a very, very long time.
|6 years 30 weeks ago||Just no.||
But Tate is a fine, fine backup. And he should keep on keepin' on.
|6 years 31 weeks ago||Dude, you're an idiot.||
|6 years 31 weeks ago||Why||
Oh why would you want a guy with little defensive coaching experience telling our defense what to do?
Coaches stay out of each others areas of expertise. Do you know why he is even giving the defense 15-20 minutes of his time? To chew them the fuck out and motivate them to get better against Bowling Green. What else can he do? Urban Meyer doesn't do shit with his defense. Nick Saban doesn't do shit with his offense. Les Miles just shits up and down the sideline and doesn't coach anyone. It's normal.
|6 years 31 weeks ago||Great stuff, man||
You don't have to defend yourself. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Anybody who insists that you politicize a post about a big stadium and the Mass Games is a fucking douche.

And Dee is a lock. My ex-roomie at UF knows Ricardo Miller(ex-teammate) very well and updates me from time to time. Dee's a Michigan shoo-in as long as RichRod's job is secure.
|6 years 31 weeks ago||You really are||
the biggest fucking moron on this site, Magnus.
Suggesting that a school is "probably better" than another just based on its division affiliation is asshattery of the highest order. Scratch that - giving a team from the MAC or Sun Belt - two universally horrible conferences - a decided edge over one of the top 20 teams in the FCS(which UMass is) is fucking ridiculous. EMU shouldn't even exist and you're suggesting it's better than a solid UMass program that hung with a better version of last years UM team that massacred EMU, that prestigious D1 institution.
Throw in that UConn is way better than WMU and ND10 is probably better than ND09 just based on the coach in charge, and this is just another regularly scheduled fuckup by your dumbass.
There's not much of a comparison between this year and last years schedule. Not much at all. And if you can't see this team trending upward, you're just hopeless.
This is where you drag out the thread. Ready, Set, Go.
|6 years 31 weeks ago||Y'know||
This post would be pretty rad if literally EVERYONE on the roster hadn't improved from last year. Alas, they have. So please, eat a dick. Thousands of dicks.
A lot of things went wrong today culminating in a final score not up to your "standards" - standards Lloyd Carr or Bo couldn't always reach because, you know. Shit happens.So again. Dicks. Eat them.

I sorta referred to Kelly's insistence on forcing Denard to carry it in the article. He thought he could "punish" him, and we all saw how that turned out.
An athlete is an athlete. Being a QB doesn't magically make Denard a pussy who will eventually get knocked out. Considering he was recruited to play anything but QB(mostly on defense), this kid can give and take a hit.
|6 years 32 weeks ago||Is there any point in refuting this sorta asshattery?||
I mean, he's not the only one. A lot of people think RichRod - despite inventing this zone read offense he and so many others run, despite tailoring the offense you see today that runs play never run last year - is just the beneficiary of a really sweet QB - ignoring the maneating offensive line, the terrific downfield blocking by the receivers(and their pass-catching), and a myriad of other things.
Just let the train roll. There's no victory in defeating a weak opponent. Michigan already beat the only people at ND that matter.

I'd be more concerned about pulling ass if I'm drunk.
The only hypothetical about Denard is that he can somehow be stopped.
|6 years 32 weeks ago||Wide open?||
Cameron Gordon was in position but he made a very, very rookie mistake by back pedaling and misjudging the location of the football.
But by all means, go apply for our defensive coordinator since you know exactly what we should have done.

However, banking on anything from Cullen is a minor miracle. Florida recruited some of the best CBs and safgetys in the nation a few years (Perhaps the best in Joe Haden), and were forced to play them as freshmen - and they promptly got destroyed by any QB with a pulse. Obviously, they - and the rest of UFs secondary - got much better in time. RichRod doesn't have time, though, and all this improvement from Denard and co. may be for naught if there aren't some maaaaaaajor breakthroughs in the secondary. I'm not a doom and gloom guy at all, and I consider RichRod one of the 10 best coaches in the country, but the chips being stacked against him are just completely unfair. Sun Belt teams have better equipped secondaries.
I'm rooting for you, Cullen. Please become Charles Woodson immediately.

How do the simulated stats look like in Dynasty mode? I don't know what the hell went wrong in NCAA 10, but most QBs nationally completed like 50% of the passes - often having games where they go like 10-40, which rarely happens in real life. Another note, those 40 attempts happened despite my sim strategy being 70% run. Sigh. And my subs are all the way up and my RB1 still gets 40 fucking carries a game. Fuck you EA, they've never fixed this. The fact that every RB in the game barely averages 4YPC is even more frustrating.
Has ANY of that been fixed?
|6 years 41 weeks ago||That logic is absurd||
How the heck are you going to correlate someones NFL draft status with his contributions to his college football team? The NFL draft is not an exact science; it's probably the farthest thing from it. Donovan Warren's career at Michigan was stellar, regardless of what the next step in his professional career is. Basically, you're saying your argument would be complete bullshit if the Lions selected him in the 7th round, because - hey, HE WAS DRAFTED! Perhaps that flies with casual fans on ESPN forums who piss on Donovan for leaving, but it's not enough for those of us who give these athletes a bit more credit.
(Also, the Jets are hurting for free safety help and they're having an open competition for the spot. Not so at corner, with Revis and Cromartie locked in. Warren has already proven able as a cornerback and would be moved if need be. This is his best chance to stick with the team.)
Also also: Faster 40 time no equal superior physical skills. We know that even in soviet Russia.
|6 years 41 weeks ago||Not being drafted||
Does not indicate he was bad. It indicates he perhaps wasn't one of the most coveted 33 cornerbacks(the amount of CBs drafted in 2010) in all of amateur football - which, like, okay. But he's on an NFL team right now. His pro status is irrelevant to his status at Michigan - at Michigan, he was our best corner. Unless there's a metric that reveals Woolfolk's awesomeness that not even the coaches could detect for much of the year.
It just seems like this all stems from Warren spurning us - which is fine. But I'm not buying anything about Woolfolk being better. There's simply been no evidence. Yet.
|6 years 41 weeks ago||On the field?||
Woolfolk is apparently the fastest dude on the team, but don't try to paint Warren as a sloth because his Combine 40 disappointed you. Their speed was indistinguishable on the game tape. What was distinguishable: Who was the better corner.
|6 years 41 weeks ago||Maybe||
It could also indicate that, outside of Warren - who Michigan absolutely needed to play at corner, but his new team in the pros is tinkering with him at FS - Woolfolk was the only other DB on the roster who could backpedal without drooling on himself and getting beat like a 13 year olds ham while the parents are out of the house every time a QB threw his way. I love his versatility, but let's not kid ourselves: If he were Warren-level good as a corner, he would have stayed there. He's a jack-of-all-trades, master of none - and he really hasn't proven he's so great at those trades yet. Don't get me wrong, I have high hopes for him, but there's really nothing in his favor in a comparison with Warren, and that's what the OP was about. His dad was awesome though, perhaps boosting his Team Cohesiveness Quotient, though.
|6 years 41 weeks ago||Jesus Christ on a pogo stick manufactured in Gabon||
You honestly, truly believe Troy Woolfolk was more of a shutdown corner than Warren? Putting aside how arbitrarily the word "shutdown" is thrown around for corners, it's going to take a lot...a lot of arguing on your part to show how a guy who switched between free safety, strong safety, and finally corner is better than Warren. Warren was by no means spectacular, but the dude fucked.shit.up at times last year and that's more than we can say for anybody not named Graham and sometimes Martin. Woolfolk showed promise, and he could be pretty good, but let's save the "shutdown" talk - or even the more absurd notion that he would have been drafted. I don't think the NFL was starving for a first-year starter without a position on a terrible defense in the 2010 draft.
As for team cohesiveness, what kind of bunk is that? We all know Zoltan led the team in TCQ(Team Cohesiveness Quotient) with a stellar 27.5. Kevin Leach was second with 22.4 and, obviously, the Ghost of Scott McClintock united this team like no other with a solid 19.8. Neither Woolfolk nor Warren scored very high - and that's ignoring the fact that I just made that statistic up and "being good for team cohesiveness" seems to be some sort of tactic used by those who want to be reassured that the loss of their 5-star cornerback is A-ok since he didn't get drafted and Woolfolk is so fucking jampacked with leadership it seaps out of every orifice in his body.

|6 years 45 weeks ago||The problem with UM, OSU, and PSU||
is that they are far and away the top schools in terms of recruiting. If Michigan regains its form like we all expect, it's not unlikely that the Big Ten championship will find a permanent home amongst those schools.
However, I will say that Iowa and Wisconsin have more staying power than Nebraska's old rivals in the Big12N
|6 years 45 weeks ago||Penn State||
is currently top-tier research team, just as competitive to get into as Notre Dame, and they make double the money ND does in TV revenue. This is all the Big Ten's "fault."
And their football has been just fine and dandy. Had they been independent during their wretched years in the early 2000's, like ND is today, they may not be making any money at all off of TV deals.
But hey, they could have always had their AURA. psh.
|6 years 45 weeks ago||Competitive fairness||
is number one on Delaney's list. Preserving UM-OSU is another. Michigan-OSU-MSU will be together. Penn State will have to be in the other division to avoid a Big 12 South power scenario, and we'll stay tuned about the rest. Location will play a minor role in Delany's thought process.
|6 years 45 weeks ago||Weather means absolutely nothing||

|6 years 45 weeks ago||Texas fits very well||
We both want the same things - and Texas is DESPERATE to prove itself as an academic powerhouse. Texas' "me-first" attitude is irrelevant since the Pac-10 wont put up with it either.
Honestly, Texas would be dumb to pass on the B10 for the P10. I suspect we'll revisit them as an expansion candidate in another 10 years if they dont hop on board now. The money will be too stretched out with too many deadweight schools in the Pac10, and Texas will ultimately find themselves in a poorer position than they were in the B12. Texas should save itself a lot of trouble and turn itself into a true powerhouse on and off the field by joining the Big Ten. Trust me, it wont be too long before schools like Florida start perking their ears up. These regional conferences will be a thing of the past - the stakes are too high to keep your product strapped into a pisspoor academic conference like the SEC or its ilk.
|6 years 45 weeks ago||The Big Ten||
is a collection of 12 (or 13+plus Chicago) like-minded institutions that are the NATIONS Leaders and Best in academics and research. Nebraska will bolster our academic patina and bring in dollars both academically and athletically. It'll expose the Big Ten to markets in Nebraska and Colorado. Who knows what all this can extrapolate into - but it's going to very good at worst, fucking incredible at best.
Delany has not ruined the Big Ten. And anybody who suggests one football game against OSU is the single-best thing about Michigan is clearly not a fan of the University - just a fan of 12 Saturdays in the fall.
|6 years 45 weeks ago||Anyone||
who uses "tradition" as a reason for why expansion is bad is very, very dense.
Also, I couldn't give anymore shits less if Michigan-Ohio State isn't the last game on our schedule. For the love of fuck, every other conference has major rivalries - you don't see Florida or Alabama fans whining about the sanctity of those games due to a conference championship game at the end of it all. Duking it out against Nebraska, Wisconsin, or Iowa at the end of the year is exciting. And if Texas is in too? Fogeddaboutit.
One day, evolution will take care of all these Michigan fans who still are oblivious to the college football world after the 2nd Saturday of November. Jim Delany has prepped us very well in anticipiation of that day.

The Big Ten would be nucking futs if they hyped up Texas as a smokescreen. They are clearly option #1, Notre Dame be damned. Nebraska is a nice prize, but you would HAVE to imagine Jim Delany is pitching the hell out of the Big Ten to Texas right now - and they're listening. And so is Notre Dame to boot.
|6 years 46 weeks ago||I'm hearing||
about Nebraska, but nothing about half the Big 12 jumping to the Pac-10. I don't see that as feasible - especially in the case of Texas, which could not possibly be making such a gutcheck decision and ignoring the cash/academic cow in the Big Ten.
