How long will it take for Borges to realize that Denard is SEVERELY limited in the passing game and Mentally? How many complete failures will it take before he understands that the few really nice passes that Denard makes from time to time are not sustainable over the course of a game? This QB is blessed with an amazing gift to run the football and is capable of a functional short passing game. Put Denard in the Shotgun and run the football and devise a gameplan that has short quick hitting pass routes that he is capable of completing CONSISTENTLY. Oh and tell Denard to take off running at the first sign of pressure.

Is not as great as its made out to be either. Bell only had 70 yards on CMU and failed to average 4 yards a carry.

Michigan could not have won the game with any gameplan but Borges failed. Denard Robinsons skill set was not utilized properly and in fact his weaknesses were highlighted in this gameplan. Robinson needs to have a short and quick passing game which targets the outside of the defense rather than sitting in the pocket and trying to throw downfield repeatedly. Its simply not his skill set. Borges just reverts back to what he prefers offensively rather than what has been successful. Hopefully this will be the last time he needs a reminder. If there is one thing im frustrated with is 160 pound V. Smith running the ball up the middle! I remember RR did the same thing.

MSU is team that could not sustain any kind of running game at all last year with the benefit of a 3 year starting quarterback and a group of talented and experienced recievers to stretch the field. Good luck running with the defense stacking the box.

Gholston is an outstanding player with tons of potential but I dont know if I can recall a player getting so much hype with as little as he has accomplished on the field? Denicos Allen is a better football player in my opinion.

It was reported that OSU stopped recruiting Green but that was not true. There is an article on Rivals where Green said Urban wanted him to visit for FNL before visiting Michigan but he told OSU the offense was  not a fit.

According to everyone MSU has way more talent than Michigan and MSU was picked preseason to be top 3 in the conference. I played HS ball and I dated a girl who played at WMU. I can honestly say that her on ball defense was as good as any ive ever played against, it was very frustrating! She was 3rd string and never really got much playing time in college. Its important to realize that the game is so much more than pure athleticism, those girls are highly skilled and fundamentally sound. I would guess the level of play is very good HS varsity level on average. The National Champion womens team would beat  the Michigan state champion in my opinion.

MSU is playing terrible right now! The Minnesota game was brutal and the only way MSU escaped with a win was one of the most self inflicted collapses ive seen this season. MSU was down at Purdue in the 2nd half until Purdue somehow missed 23 of 24 shots, many of which were uncontested and bunnies around the rim. Then you look at the IU blowout and see that MSU has no outside shooting right now other than D. Green, Appling is so out of it mentally he has no confidence and Indiana just sagged off him and collapsed the lane which is the recipe for beating MSU. MSU is still a very flawed team with below average guard play, they usually overcome these deficiencies by dominating the boards and solid defense. If OSU comes in with the mindset of being physical with an emphassis on rebounding they can easily win this game as they are far more talented than MSU.

Several bunnies and numerous very good open looks missed by Purdue, to which Clark Kellog praised the defense.

Michigan is 22-1, which is easily the best in the Big Ten.

How long does it take to realize your QB sucks balls passing the football? How long does it take to realize he has great running ability and can be somewhat effective passing in short controlled plays? How long does it take to realize he is death in the pocket???? Roll him out and give him the pass/run option right???????? UM does not have a QB that can make routine throws, this must change before the program starts winning games against teams with a pulse, Denard is not that QB.

Fitz has been unstoppable and apparently the coaching staff is averse to success on the ground. D. Robinson is not a QB and yet he could be servicable if the game plan took into consideration his limitations. Lets start with removing any plays where DR is in the pocket and focus on short high percentage throws.

They average about 80 yards a game passing. Stack the box like MSU did against UM and force Miller to throw. UM wins this game in AA.

I should have said in the backfield rather than under center. The premise remains though that DR brings a lot of attention to the line of scrimmage and the RBs are hindered as a result. I agree with you that the backs still should have gotten more carries and I thought Toussaint was a better option running into that front.

But im mystified how a team with what is obviously a glaring weakness on the O line, is getting the benefit of the doubt? If UM had struggled on the line and running the ball as MSU has, I would be less than optimistic.

The game was a blowout due to MSU and its AWFUL offensive line. The penalties were not random, they were the result of the MSU offensive lineman desperately trying to keep Cousins in one piece!  ND took the air out of the ball for the whole 4th quarter and became one dimensional just running the ball. ND ran the ball at will in the 1st half when they were balanced, not so much once they decided to just run clock in the 4th quarter.

The OSU that MSU faced was Braxton Miler in his first start EVER and 3 other all Big Ten caliber players suspended and their best defensive player DE Williams out due to injury. Did you see the OSU-Toledo game?

The MSU O-line is terrible. It was terrible before Burkland was injured and there is no way around it. If you dont believe me, go look at the rushing numbers against YSU, FAU, ND and even CMU. This team has very good running backs and have been awful as a running game. The problem is a weak O- line, our RBs Fitz and Smith both average more per carry than MSUs backs.

If Michigan had performed as MSU has in the running game, every talking head in the media would be harping on how Michigan cannot run the ball.

How often do the trains run? Also what crossroad is the parking structure on Davis close to?

Squeked out a 23-20 win over Westerm Michigan last week and was down 28-17 late in the 3rd quarter to NW when Persa left the game. No way does Illinois win that game today without the Persa injury. Both games were in Champaign, im not impressed.

Why would OSU settle on a coach who fails to have winning seasons back to back years, loses every bowl game and has overseen a program plagued with off field issues? MD is not even a good recruiter? NO chance OSU settles for MD.

The award should go to the best player period. The best player just might be on an 8-4 team and therefore the BCS standings should have NOTHING to do with it. How idiotic can it get? I realize its been this way for awhile now but its still wrong that you have to be on a great team to win an individual award. If Cam Newton played for Florida last year instead of Auburn he would not have won the award despite being by far the best player.

Im not saying Denard should win the heisman but pointing out that his passing stats are not as good as the best passers in the country does not eliminate him. When you factor in the insane rushing ability of Denard that more than off sets some of those limitations. Its about the best football player, not the best passer. I say this because it seems almost as if some think Denard has to have elite passing numbers like A. Luck but fail to factor in the rushing yards. Just for the record I would vote for Luck as of now.

Im basing my evaluation on many games over several years. Is V. Smith going to break tackles and push the pile? Is he going to break long runs against good competition? Like I said, I love Smiths intangibles and realize he has a role but im just being honest, he is not very explosive at all as evidenced on his kickoff returns. I personally think Fitz has been more impressive this season but its just my humble opinion.

Notre Dame is boring and lacks the prestige it once had, im sick and tired of playing them every year. Missouri seems like a nice fit and Kansas has elite basketball cache.

OSU will still be without 4-5 of their best players when MSU plays them, the only Big Ten team to benefit from the suspensions.

Was it really that bad? The defense only allowed 10 points from 2:00 in the first quarter until 00:30 to go in the 4th quarter. Thats 10 points in over 3 full quarters of football and still only 17 points including the broken coverage TD (easily corrected) at the end of the game.

There were three possessions that resulted in 3 and outs. The defense did its job for the vast majority of the game, creating turnovers, getting huge 3rd down stops in the 2nd half and generaly keeping UM in the game.  The defense is not giving up BIG PLAYS! Thats the stated objective of G. Mattison.

Just based on this article which is not much to go on. He raved about the Duke visit and called his host "my boy" . UM is in it though, we shall see.

So its probably not an isolated incident. I would think its not a good idea for the AD to be in there, mostly beacuse Mattison would not feel comfortable telling Brandon he is not welcome. Now maybe Mattison is not bothered by it but how would the AD ever truly know this. Most people would be uncomfortable telling the bosses boss to leave.

We didnt have this coaching staff. Mattison is reason enough to be positive rather than expecting the same collapse in Big Ten play.

The one play on 3rd and short where he shot through the line and wrapped up Wood was amazing! That was the play of the game for me. Hawthorne looks to moving at a faster speed, and really looks like a player to the naked eye.

He is far too valuable to risk injury on the most dangerous play in football. Something to consider is that when you come back from an injury, the injured ankle or knee may be back to full strength but mentally your body will still try to protect it, and this puts added stress on the other side of the body. Its possible that this may be applicable in this case or maybe not.

Initially, regarding the defense. I agreee that after Mattison moved the corners up and played more physically in coverage sometime in the 2nd quarter, the defense was good. I think the first drive by WMU caused many to overreact. I am pumped about the improved tackling, there were very few missed tackles!

He has the look. The look of an every down back that has been lacking since M. Hart. Fitz was running against an inspired defense and ran tough for positive yards, even in the goal line situations. Shaw looked good too, but he was running against a softened up defense and he also had a run or two where he ran laterally again which has led to losses in the past. I like Shaw for a few carries a week but I love the way Fitz gets north and south.

MSU will probably still win big but it doesnt matter because YSU has controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The MSU offensive line is beyond patchwork and will struggle all season long, you just cant replace 3 starters with converted D lineman and not suffer as a result. I have been expecting this and have been very surprised by how little attention its gotten in the media. The MSU defensive line really struggled to get pressure last year and the stellar play of the 2 four year starting linebackers masked some of the issues.

Bottom line is football games are won in the trenches and MSU is weak on the offensive line and average on the defensive line.

QB at the highest level as the NFL is, requires many intangibles and first and foremost it requires intelligence. The sophistication of defenses and the complexity of the offenses with all the nuances and check downs make being able to process lots of information almost instantly paramount. This requires a high intellect and just because a dumb football player happens to be black does not in anyway make it racially motivated. Give me a break, stupid is stupid, no matter what color it comes in.

May God comfort Coach Dantonio in this difficult time. I want to thank Mr. Dantonio for his service and remember that he helped save the world. My dad who died a few years back was also in WWII so this really brings strong emotions to the surface for me.

It could be better but rarely if ever would more than 7-8 guys play on the offensive line. im still dumbfounded how our veteran offensive line is questioned and MSU is so lacking O lineman they are relying on redshirt freshmen and a converted D lineman who had never pass protected until the pre Bowl game practices last year! It seems if your UM everything has to be proven first but at MSU any first year starter is given the benefit of the doubt.

I dont understand all the love many UM fans are giving them with so many question marks. Football games are won in the trenches and calling the MSU offensive line suspect is being genorous considering the line struggled last year and is now replacing 3 starters with converted D lineman and redshirt freshman.  Im pretty sure if UM had the exact same offensive line situation everyone would be focusing on it, instead its just brushed off as a non- issue.

As for the MSU D line, it failed to create any pressure and is not at all a defensive line you have to game plan for, a bunch of average players and Worthy.

The linebackers are replacing not one, but two 4 year starters! Yeah, no problem right.

Its my opinion that losing the offensive coordinator Treadwell will be a big loss. If you remember it was Treadwell that coached MSU to the win against Wisconsin, not Dantonio. Does Dantonio have a single real impressive win in his 4 seasons?

In conclusion MSU is the most over rated team in the Big Ten. Take a close look at last years schedule (No OSU) , a desperation fake punt against ND, a fumble on the 2 yard line by NW that would have made the game 24-0 and then another faked punt that if it failed NW would have ran out the clock. And then the Purdue game, it took a minor miracle for MSU to win this game. Complete 4th quarter meltdown by Purdue.

MSU is a good team, stop making them out to be something they are not.

I really hope the actual game jerseys are the ones without the piping. The numbers are bigger on them and the maize two tone on the numbers looks better also.
