And Morgan and Stauskas and GRIII, all of whom I doubt we ever see in the maize and blue again (morgan obviously). This team showed immense heart, and I'm so proud of the way Levert fought back in the second half to play awesome defense and contribute offensively. They just played the most talented team in the country, and it's not even close. So proud of these guys. Nothing to hang your head about.

I'm not sure if a wide open passing attack would be effective, but i'm fairly certain running Rawls at Williams will not. 3-4 WR sets will help space out their LBs and allow more running lanes for DRob on scrambles (hoping praying screaming this year he actually scrambles). If bama insists on still stuffing 8 in the box, I would anticipate denard being able to connect on at least 1-2 balls over the top to Gallon

He is overrated as a defensive player, but an elite return guy (especially one as dynamic as him) goes no later than the second round. Hester was a second round pick (and mediocre CB) and he's a future HOFer.

Rondo should definitely be on this list. The fact Odom is still in consideration is a joke-I think AI is actually going to be an integral part of the team. I don't think there's a role for Blake Griffin on this team-we are used to getting highlights of great dunks (Vince Carter vs. France) during the olympics, but he's not a good enough shooter or perimeter defender for the international game. I agree w/ the starting five above, but I'd but Chandler in at center.

I agree it's very poor form to put such stock in a RB (a lesson all Bears fans learned over and over). However, here in Ohio the general belief is that the defense is headed in the right direction, but the offense is so stagnant that its unwatchable. Cleveland needs that excitement-especially with a very solid L side of the lineand a possession qb

BC our three biggest rivals in the big ten right now (ranked by my joy of defeating) all have head coaches I have little to no respect for. I know we all dislike great players or coaches on rival teams (as a Bears fan, I objectively know Aaron Rodgers is a great QB but I can't stand him), but we should at least be able to respect them. Dantonio, Bielema,, and Meyer are such blatant bottom feeders that losing to them honestly feels like a moral affront. Not that Michigan knows what it's like to lose to Meyer, but you know what I mean.

|3 years 7 weeks ago||Reasonable concerns||
I agree that I expect some regression from Papa Grande and Peralta. However, I actually think Avila is going to continue to improve. He was just gassed last year at having to catch so many games. While getting Fielder was obviously huge, I'm thrilled to see Laird back in the D. His offense is terrible, but he's a great defensive catcher who will allow Avila to stay fresh throughout the season. I expect Young and Boesch to have massive years-I'm just concerned about that glaring hole at second base.

It could be nothing, or it could a larger pattern of incompetence by the compliance department.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||No worries||
Your argument has much merit, but I am blinded by homerism. I tried to argue the 2003 Tigers were robbed by not being in the post-season.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||We may disagree on the rays||
vs. tigers, but I am in awe of your statistical prominence. Somewhere along the way, baseball started using stats I don't even understand, and I was a math minor. I blame Billy Beane. And communists.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Let's look at rays vs. tigers||
1b: Cabrera vs. Kotchman: Tigers but Kotchman's no slouch
2b: Rayburn vs. ...oh who are we kidding: advantage Rays by a wide margin
SS: Peralta vs. Brignac: Tigers, by a wide margin
3B: Inge/Kelly vs. Longoria: Rays by a wide margin
RF: Boesch vs. Joyce: Boesch has been stroking it lately, but Joyce is an all-star: Rays
CF: Jackson vs. Upton: Tigers, though both have been slumping
LF: Dirks vs. Fuld: Tie of futility
C: Avila vs. Jaso: Tigers
DH: Martinez vs. Damon: Tigers
Detroit avg .260, 4th Rays avg .242, 11th
Detroit ERA 4.2, 12th Rays ERA 3.75 6th
Tigers have more power, Rays more speed. They seem pretty even, and I would take Detroit's starters over the Rays. Also, which may need to be my only point-Kyle Farnsworth is the Rays' closer. Rays are a good team, but so are the Tigers. Both would finish 3rd in the AL East, and both (I think) would win the Central
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Touche||
I've always felt terrible for the blue jays and orioles. Just zero chance of ever being relevant.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Detroit Tigers||
vs. Boston: 1-6 (ugh)
vs. NYY: 4-3
vs. TB: 3-0 so far
vs. Texas: 4-2
The tigers are tied for first in the central, are 1 game back in the entire AL. The white sox are irrelevant at this point. The winner of the central deserves to be in the playoffs. NOT messed up
|3 years 50 weeks ago||I hate having no divisions||
I know people want the playoffs to be the entire AL east against the phillies, but it's a joke. I like having the seahawks sneek in at 7-9 and upset the saints. Eliminating the divisions will dilute the rivalries and only further expose how terrible the small market teams are. If you think Pittsburgh is struggling to break .500 (tho doing well this year), just imagine if they don't get the luxury of playing the astros, cubs, and reds 19 times a year.

|3 years 50 weeks ago||I think the merits||
of the rocky, predators, and matrix series(es?) are in and of themselves individual threads. Rocky I, II, and IV are on a different plane than the rest. Predators is an amazing movie, but predators II was awful. I'm really not a big fan of the wachowski's and their hit you over the head symbolism, but there are a lot of great action scenes in the first one. Nice thoughts.

I don't like the speed option for a couple reasons
1. Drob isn't the best at decision making. He certainly can improve this year, but RR basically took the read option off the table b/c drob couldn't get it down
2. We really need to reduce turnovers this year and the option is not the way to do that
3. We don't have the dynamic WRs to make the WR a viable option. Grady is slippery but not fast, and roundtree and gallon have the case of the drops
I'm sure Borges wil make sure drob gets his carries, but the options not the way to go
|3 years 50 weeks ago||I have come from the future||
to tell you that you, sir, are incorrect
|3 years 50 weeks ago||A fair question||
I just don't think Gardner is the guy who would transfer. He is (likely) a RS frosh- he did miss the last eight games (even tho you knew RR wanted to take Drob out of the bowl game to end the bleeding) and had documented back injuries. That gives him at least two years to start. Plus, as much as I love Drob, there is no guarantee that he will finish the season as the starter. We lack dynamic playakers on offense but have two very good qbs. If drob struggles (and only if he struggles), I could easily see DG finishing the year out

Use to go there all the time my first year of med school when I was living off of 12th. Haven't even entered the Fishbowl since they were remodeling it when I first got on campus, and I never go to Prior cause you just run into classmates who want to chat all day.

I agree. There is no need to mention RR at all. LC was a class act while coach, and his love for the program is often ignored. He was passionate for his players, and he did everything in his power to uphold the integrity of this institution. So did RR. So did Bo. So, God willing, will Hoke. Records differ, but we have been blessed to have multiple eloquent, passionate men lead our football program. The need to tear one down to build up the other is completely unnecessary and ridiculous.

New Coke beat Pepsi in blind taste tests by a huge margin. It was sweeter, so it impressed the public. Given a whole can to stew, however, and people realized they didn't want to drink a pixie stick (shamefully ripping off Blink),
I find RR's offense to be more like New Coke-exciting, sweeter, but over the long run doesn't settle well with the people. But Clemson will love em some New Coke, so everybody wins.

Sublime as a six? Phish included at all? This whole bracket reminds me of Chuck Klosterman's 'most accurately rated' article. Nirvana as a 2 seed is ridiculous. For as much as we liked to think they changed the world, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nevermind with a radio landscape dominated by Ke$ha. That's probably clear channel's fault more than anybodys, but I think people tend to exagerate Nirvana's legacy because they weren't around long enough to make a lot of bad later albums (ahem, Aerosmith).
