I wouldn't care about what they did so much if the private school they set up was legit academically. The problem is it looks like it was a terrible school with hardly any real education going on. I think it is absolutely terrible to use kids like this, leaving them with no option other than football afterwards. They owe these kids to leave them in better state.
|3 days 12 hours ago||I want to note that this is||
I want to note that this is the richest school district in the entire Northwest. This school district encompasses ultra-rich neighborhoods like Medina, which is home to Bill Gates. There is a lot of people with enough money to not even think twice about throwing tens of thousands of dollars to the football program. The booster program is pretty scary.
However, it is great for raising kids as school bonds never fail to pass. Just spent $250 million to rebuild one of the high schools and it is fantastic.
|3 days 12 hours ago||Nope, sent out to every||
Nope, sent out to every parent in the school district. This is actually second such email. He sent out one last week talking about the report that is about to be released. That email did not go over well as the boosters accused the super of taking an aggressive stance. This is turning out to be quite the drama.
|3 days 13 hours ago||No Comment||
|3 days 13 hours ago||Just got this email from Super this morning...||
This is a somber day. In our service as educators we are fully committed to supporting and protecting our students. This belief is paramount in the work I do daily. We believe in our students and we strive to build partnerships with our parents in support of our students. We also strive to build positive relationships within our community based on trust and caring. I recognize that trust is shaken in times like this.
I want to acknowledge the unintended, but very real impact the WIAA investigation has had on individuals and members of our community. During the course of the investigation, concerns of racism in the investigative approach were issued, and members of the community called on us to halt the investigation. While we communicated these concerns to the WIAA, the investigation continued. As superintendent I am deeply concerned that my actions did not go far enough to support students who felt the investigation was racially biased.
It is clear to me that students and families have been hurt due to the investigation. I also understand that for many of our racially diverse families, the public discourse and concern of racial bias extends beyond the Bellevue High School football program and has caused pain to those not even associated with the program. To those members of our community I also want to extend my apologies.
The WIAA report obviously contains information that requires immediate attention. At the same time, there are areas that we will look into more thoroughly as recommended in the report.
We know how important athletics are to our students. We believe in the importance of fair play and rules. We are committed to working with the league and the WIAA as we move forward
Through the public records process the district is releasing a redacted copy of the WIAA report on the investigation. The public copy of the report is redacted so that the identities of former and current students cannot be easily identified. I feel very strongly that we should do everything we can to protect our students and see that they are not harmed as a result of this report. We have set up a dedicated email address – [email protected]- that people can use on this specific issue and we will be reviewing everyone’s input.
Included with our release is our initial response with comments and concerns about the investigation and report.
I do want to be clear that we take this report very seriously and we have the responsibility to offer a more detailed and specific response and appropriate actions in the next few days.
This includes a more detailed review of pertinent documents to determine if there were WIAA rule violations and the report of findings to the KingCO conference for review and action. This is according to WIAA rules.
In addition, I am committed to making every effort to rebuild divisions in the community where they exist and restore faith in leadership where there are doubts. I became an educator to make a difference in the lives of students. I believe in our students and know that as superintendent I have the responsibility to create an environment that allows each student to succeed. I take my responsibility very seriously, and recognize that I am accountable to our students, staff, parents and Board of Directors.
I will not be answering any questions about the contents of the report today. I realize that people will have strong opinions about the allegations, how the investigation was conducted, the actions of people that were investigated, the contents of the report, and what actions should be taken. I urge everyone to exercise restraint and respect for all members of our Bellevue community as we move forward. Over the next few weeks we will continue to communicate with the public on the progress of our next steps in this process.

I don't know how anyone could view that game and think QB's looked uncomfortable. I was extremely impressed with the poise and composure that all QB's displayed. They are lightyears ahead from the last couple of years where you can sense overwhelming panic from those guys in the same situations. Both Speight and Morris displayed excellent pocket awareness and very good footwork to buy space within the pocket. All of them threw very pretty balls even under pressure. This is NOTHING like some of the poor QB form that we saw before Harbaugh got here.
I mean Morris threw some balls high, but most were trying to go over the defenders and away where the receiver still had a chance. That bomb he threw to the back pylon was one of the prettiest passes I have seen in awhile. Morris was pressured, he shifted a couple of times to buy time and threw a bomb effortlessly that came out like a cannon. He put it almost in stride for the receiver and the trailing corner had no chance, only the safety could reach it (and with speed like Dymonte). That was friggin impressive!
I would say I would be fine with any of these guys starting. I would say the floor has been raised to a point where I would expect all of these guys to perform at average B1G QB level at worst. Who knows what the ceiling is? I am very satisfied with the progress that these guys are making.

Putting this kind of stress in spring would drive the superintendents to quit.

It is a quite a hyperbole to equate NCAA to FIFA. Nobody is accusing NCAA officials of taking bribes and having secret bank accounts with millions in them.
I completely agree that colleges should be free to strive for amateurism in sports that they support. They are completely within their rights to do so. The courts have ruled as so. I don't think that is radical decision.
There is nothing stopping college athletes who believe that they are being taken advantage of to quit and become a pro. The fact that there are collective bargains in pro sports to preclude you from doing that is not the college's fault. If you want to get paid, go pro, good luck, nobody is stopping you (from the college side). Courts have already also ruled that such collective rights bargains are perfectly legal.
In fact, if you look at a sport with no such restrictions, baseball, there are still healthy number of players who choose to go to college instead of turning pro. That tells me that players are compensated just fine. If there was money to be made getting college age kids to play in their own league, NFL and NBA would have mined that a long time ago. They don't do it because there is no money there.

But when I see Robinson play a pick, defenders usually go under and there is enough room there for Robinson to get a clean shot. He has a pretty quick release and there is more than enough opportunity there, but it seems that he is much more comfortable coming off a pick without the ball for a catch and shoot. However, that takes more time and he does not get enough space on those plays.

I am not even going to bother with the political angle on what is wrong with government having unfettered access to your data.
Technically, this is a very, very, very bad idea.
What FBI wants is to disable the feature that deletes the content after so many bad access attempt. The only way to make this happen is to make a change to the OS. You also have to distribute this as a "security" update so that it is mandatory on all phones.
I am not going to bother with how terrible security vulnerability that is. Let's for argument sakes that they can target this specific device for this update.
That still does not change the fact that now a mandatory "security" update can deliver a trojan to your device (government sponsored or not). If I care about security (and many people do), that means that I am going to disable automatic security updates. That will lead to many more devices without proper security update that can be vulnerable to malicious hacks and EVERYONE will be worse off.
The benefit of finding out some nebulous connection to these people are not worth jeopardizing the entire eco-system of security updates. I don't care if they had the private phone number to the top ISIS commander. That is nothing compare to what would happen if significant number of people don't download security updates.
This is very very bad idea that Apple should resist with all their might. This is just going to make our national security worse, not better.

It looks like the coaches have decided to run guard pulls with Braden instead of Kalis. That is a smart move as Kalis was blocking air on pulls.
The fact that Braden has tendency to fall forward on contact actually helps him on pulls. Many of the pull plays, Braden just falls on the first guy he contacts and smothers him, which provided holes for RB's to run through.

|34 weeks 1 day ago||That is what is so||
That is what is so disappointing about Rudock today. If you are forcing it in the crowded space for Butt, I understand. Even if it ws for Chesson or Darboh, fine. But you should not be looking to the true freshmen in a crowded space. Even if he ran the correct route, the DB probably would have knocked it away, since Perry is not going to be very physical. You should only be targeting him when he is wide open. You need to be aware of each receiver's abilities. I just thought Rudock's awareness sucked most of the game.

If you decide that his value as the member of team is a legit factor in deciding whether or not to medical a player, you are in the exact same boat with Saban and other questionable SEC actors. I see no difference in cutting a player because he cannot crack the two deep and medicalling a player because of projected lack of output.
I am very disappointed that most on this site is fine with SEC tactics as long as it is our team that is doing it. We should never be making any fuss about Saban tactics in the future.

If the motive for Harbaugh was the long term health for Pipkins, the best way to go about it would have been to red shirt him this year and talk to him about retiring after this year as that would make sure that he does not play this year and monitor him to make sure he is not hurting himself further while training.
Forcing him out says Harbaugh wants that scholarship spot. That does not look good no matter how much people want to twist it.

The course is long and due to the firmness of the green, you have a HUGE advantage if you can hit shorter irons into the green (more height and spin), allowing you to hit closer to the pin. Dustin had an EXCELLENT day with his irons and that is why he is at the top.
Similar story for Stenson who is also a long hitter.
If you can hit long and make 10 footers, you are going to score here.

The greens are quite receptive, actually. Most wedge shots are sticking within 5 feet of where they land. There are sideboards and ridges to slow your shots or direct your ball towards the middle if needed. All it takes is imagination and skill to get the ball close. There are a ton of guys shooting under par (for US Open). If anything, it is playing too easy (mostly because of easy pin positions).

Looking at the videos above, I don't see any quick bursts or closing speed. I see good vertical, but that is about it. I believe the 5.23 based on the video alone. I mean, if he was an OL prospect, he would be fine, but I have a hard time seeing him as TE or DE.

|51 weeks 3 days ago||I will give you and everyone||
I will give you and everyone my #1 advice when travelling to Hawaii. Unfortunately, this only applies to Costco members.
The first thing you should do after you land and get your rental car is to go to the Costco (there is one near the airport on almost every island). You should stock up on your water, juices, breakfast items, fruits, and beer/liquor so that you don't have to pay exorbitant resort prices. If you planning on snorkeling, pickup snorkeling gear there too. You end up spending about the same amount of money as renting gear for the week. It also saves on checking those equipment on airplane which is not cheap these days. Even if you just leave it behind after the week, this will save you money.
You should also stop by Costco on the way out to gas up your car, buy Hawaiian nuts/chocolates, and coffee. By far the best prices on the island.
As to things to do in Big Island, here are my favorites:
-Night snorkeling for giant manta rays. I CANNOT recommend this highly enough. There are two different spots, either works. (go look for manta ray night dives on Youtube - it is JUST like those)
-If you like turtles, stay at Waikoloa Resort. There are resident turtles in its manmade lagoons that you can swim with all day. If you are not staying at the resort, you can go to Waikoloa Beach in front of Marriott. There is a fresh water stream that flows out to the ocean. Every morning, up to a dozen sea turthles hang out there to munch on fresh vegetation that floats out. You can swim with them or just watch them from the beach.
-Have poke at Da Poke Shack and loco moco at Big Island Grill
-Have a Longboard at Kona Brewing Co
-Chill out with the locals at Hapuna Beach
-Go up to Mauna Kea Observatory
-Snorkeling at Captain Cook point is good, not great, but really calm and clear water great for beginners
-Snorkeing is even better out at Waikoloa. You have to swim out about 200 feet into the open ocean, but some of the best snorkeling experiences I've ever had out there with huge school of surgeon fishes and huge parrot fishes, and even rays.
-Drive to the volcanoes was a bust for me as all I saw was some plumes of steam. But the drive to the park is amazing as you go through about 4 different micro climates - and the black sand beach along the way was incredible
-Go visit a coffee plantation
Hope that helps.

I go to Hawaii almost every other year. Maui is a good choice for a first timer as they really gear towards tourists. For Maui, I prefer Wailea area as you have better weather there than north (Kaanapali, Kapalua). There are some nice snorkeling areas off the public beaches and a lot of turtles hang out there. You can always go on tours to Molokini and a visit to the aquarium is a must.
I prefer the Big Island as it is more raw and climate/terrain is more diverse. The night snorkel to watch the giant rays feed is the single greatest nature experience I have ever had.

As soon as Harbaugh turns us down, you will know because a serious offer will be made to another candidate and the news will leak (most likely by the targeted coach's current adminstration). No such news has been leaked, which means Michigan is still on Harbaugh's trail.
All these Harbaugh No/Yes rumors are useless. Harbaugh is interested, that is the only scenario where all these actions fit. You will know very shortly after Harbaugh makes a decision.
Which is why the longer this continues, it is better for Michigan since that means more and more likely that Harbaugh is going to say yes, because saying no takes no time.

Regarding Harbaugh, things need to wait out until the regular season is over. Every other major job has been filled already. The longer this drags out, the chance of landing Harbaugh gets better.
Names being floated in media. If you are an agent worth anything, you HAVE to float your guy's name in the media as a possible candidate. Even if he has no intention of taking the job since it is a future negotiation lever. If you are hearing names that someone like Cowherd (via agents)is trumpeting, that pretty much means that person has no chance for this job and has not been contacted, since...
If you have been contacted and is interested, you are going to keep quiet. Your agent is going to keep quiet. You don't want to jeopardize the deal by flapping your mouth. That is why we probably have not heard a pip about/from Mullen and a couple of other very viable candidates.
Just keep praying that this process drags on if you are pining for Harbaugh. As soon as he says no, I suspect we will sign to a plan B/C within days or even hours.
