My best round is 78 at Chambers Bay. I always play as it lies.
I also shot a net 59 at a pretty good size tournament. People were hazing me pretty good about sand bagging.
But my best score is probably 88 I shot during a US Open day at Chambers Bay (where they played it at 7600 yards).

|4 weeks 1 day ago||Not quite. Putting your body||
Putting your body through intense exersize like playing football will definitely increase your chances of reinjuring yourself and worse, leave you with lingering effect for rest of your life.
I am very uncomfortable with deciding medical hardship based on projected "usefulness" of the player. The only question that should be relevant is whether or not further playing will leave the player with disabilities that may affect him for the rest of his life. If not, no matter how ineffective he will be, he should be allowed to play or at least keep his scholarship (not medical).
If you decide that his value as the member of team is a legit factor in deciding whether or not to medical a player, you are in the exact same boat with Saban and other questionable SEC actors. I see no difference in cutting a player because he cannot crack the two deep and medicalling a player because of projected lack of output.
I am very disappointed that most on this site is fine with SEC tactics as long as it is our team that is doing it. We should never be making any fuss about Saban tactics in the future.

If the motive for Harbaugh was the long term health for Pipkins, the best way to go about it would have been to red shirt him this year and talk to him about retiring after this year as that would make sure that he does not play this year and monitor him to make sure he is not hurting himself further while training.
Forcing him out says Harbaugh wants that scholarship spot. That does not look good no matter how much people want to twist it.

The course is long and due to the firmness of the green, you have a HUGE advantage if you can hit shorter irons into the green (more height and spin), allowing you to hit closer to the pin. Dustin had an EXCELLENT day with his irons and that is why he is at the top.
Similar story for Stenson who is also a long hitter.
If you can hit long and make 10 footers, you are going to score here.

The greens are quite receptive, actually. Most wedge shots are sticking within 5 feet of where they land. There are sideboards and ridges to slow your shots or direct your ball towards the middle if needed. All it takes is imagination and skill to get the ball close. There are a ton of guys shooting under par (for US Open). If anything, it is playing too easy (mostly because of easy pin positions).

I don't care what the star rating is, as long as the coach Harbaugh wants him, that is fine by me.
That being said...
When I saw DJohnson's video, I was really impressed with his athleticism and his closing speed. I think picking up great athletes and coaching them up is the right way to go and he certainly fits that bill.
Looking at the videos above, I don't see any quick bursts or closing speed. I see good vertical, but that is about it. I believe the 5.23 based on the video alone. I mean, if he was an OL prospect, he would be fine, but I have a hard time seeing him as TE or DE.

The bottom train has to spend more and more energy as you add more trains on top. Just because you keep adding trains to the top does not mean that there is no effect on the lower trains.
Even if you were to build trains of infinite strength, the amount of energy required to move with each additional train would be so much (it would approach infinity as you get closer to the speed of light) that the top train will never be able to go as fast as the speed of light.

|11 weeks 6 days ago||I will give you and everyone||
I will give you and everyone my #1 advice when travelling to Hawaii. Unfortunately, this only applies to Costco members.
The first thing you should do after you land and get your rental car is to go to the Costco (there is one near the airport on almost every island). You should stock up on your water, juices, breakfast items, fruits, and beer/liquor so that you don't have to pay exorbitant resort prices. If you planning on snorkeling, pickup snorkeling gear there too. You end up spending about the same amount of money as renting gear for the week. It also saves on checking those equipment on airplane which is not cheap these days. Even if you just leave it behind after the week, this will save you money.
You should also stop by Costco on the way out to gas up your car, buy Hawaiian nuts/chocolates, and coffee. By far the best prices on the island.
As to things to do in Big Island, here are my favorites:
-Night snorkeling for giant manta rays. I CANNOT recommend this highly enough. There are two different spots, either works. (go look for manta ray night dives on Youtube - it is JUST like those)
-If you like turtles, stay at Waikoloa Resort. There are resident turtles in its manmade lagoons that you can swim with all day. If you are not staying at the resort, you can go to Waikoloa Beach in front of Marriott. There is a fresh water stream that flows out to the ocean. Every morning, up to a dozen sea turthles hang out there to munch on fresh vegetation that floats out. You can swim with them or just watch them from the beach.
-Have poke at Da Poke Shack and loco moco at Big Island Grill
-Have a Longboard at Kona Brewing Co
-Chill out with the locals at Hapuna Beach
-Go up to Mauna Kea Observatory
-Snorkeling at Captain Cook point is good, not great, but really calm and clear water great for beginners
-Snorkeing is even better out at Waikoloa. You have to swim out about 200 feet into the open ocean, but some of the best snorkeling experiences I've ever had out there with huge school of surgeon fishes and huge parrot fishes, and even rays.
-Drive to the volcanoes was a bust for me as all I saw was some plumes of steam. But the drive to the park is amazing as you go through about 4 different micro climates - and the black sand beach along the way was incredible
-Go visit a coffee plantation
Hope that helps.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||I go to Hawaii almost every||
I go to Hawaii almost every other year. Maui is a good choice for a first timer as they really gear towards tourists. For Maui, I prefer Wailea area as you have better weather there than north (Kaanapali, Kapalua). There are some nice snorkeling areas off the public beaches and a lot of turtles hang out there. You can always go on tours to Molokini and a visit to the aquarium is a must.
I prefer the Big Island as it is more raw and climate/terrain is more diverse. The night snorkel to watch the giant rays feed is the single greatest nature experience I have ever had.

We KNOW Harbaugh is interested. We know this because if Harbaugh was not interested, we would have made offers to other top candidates already.
As long as we do not hear anything about other coaches being offered, Harbaugh is interested. Period.
As soon as Harbaugh turns us down, you will know because a serious offer will be made to another candidate and the news will leak (most likely by the targeted coach's current adminstration). No such news has been leaked, which means Michigan is still on Harbaugh's trail.
All these Harbaugh No/Yes rumors are useless. Harbaugh is interested, that is the only scenario where all these actions fit. You will know very shortly after Harbaugh makes a decision.
Which is why the longer this continues, it is better for Michigan since that means more and more likely that Harbaugh is going to say yes, because saying no takes no time.

Just look at it from the game theory point of view.
Regarding Harbaugh, things need to wait out until the regular season is over. Every other major job has been filled already. The longer this drags out, the chance of landing Harbaugh gets better.
Names being floated in media. If you are an agent worth anything, you HAVE to float your guy's name in the media as a possible candidate. Even if he has no intention of taking the job since it is a future negotiation lever. If you are hearing names that someone like Cowherd (via agents)is trumpeting, that pretty much means that person has no chance for this job and has not been contacted, since...
If you have been contacted and is interested, you are going to keep quiet. Your agent is going to keep quiet. You don't want to jeopardize the deal by flapping your mouth. That is why we probably have not heard a pip about/from Mullen and a couple of other very viable candidates.
Just keep praying that this process drags on if you are pining for Harbaugh. As soon as he says no, I suspect we will sign to a plan B/C within days or even hours.

Just because other people disagree does not mean they are wrong. The world does not revolve around you.
Schilssel is going to do whatever he feels is the right decision, and nothing you, nor what anyone on this blog says about it is going to change his mind. And that is the way it should be.

As an alum, I am very happy with Schlissel's approach so far. If he believes that having Hoke around for another year is in the best interest of the university in the long run, I am fine with it.

|37 weeks 2 days ago||The thing that I see with||
The thing that I see with Gardner is that he does not trust anyone. Not his line, not his receivers. I don't know when is the last time I saw Gardner throw a pass before the cut is made. He will ONLY throw it when the receiver has made the cut and is on a straight trajectory.
This is KILLING us since we cannot do any hitch and go to punish over plays and receivers cannot get any separation since most of the separation happens right after the cut.
Gardner is broken beyond recognition. This is really sad to watch.
|38 weeks 6 days ago||Exactly. There is absolutely||
Exactly. There is absolutely no downside to replacing an AD right now. The fact that they haven't done so should tell you everything you need to know.
All theses "gates" are minor distractions that don't amount to squat. DB will be replaced, if it is determined that a newAD is required to turn the football program around. Nothing else matters.

|38 weeks 6 days ago||I think the better analogy||
I think the better analogy would be a fortune 500 bank failed to have enough internal controls to prevent itself from issuing fraudulent loans. Plenty of banks went out of business for something like that.
What the investigation has proven is that UNC lacks internal controls and oversight to prevent something like this from happening. This may not be the only sham course that they offered (this is the only one they investigated), because it is now proven UNC has no clue when these things happen on their campus. Until they can prove that this was an isolated incident (not even sure how to go about it), they should have their accredation suspended.
This is a classic case of tail waggin the dog. The academic reputation of an institution is FAR greater than any benefit you get from athletics. UNC needs to think real hard about their culture and seriously consider dropping athletics all together. I would recommend that approach if something like this happened at Michigan.

If you think a being a top 16 program means you automatically expect them to make the sweet 16 every year, you are delusional. Kentucky did not make sweet 16 last year. Hell. They didn't even make the tourney.
Every program, even the very best, have their ups and downs. We may have some years where we don't even make the tourney, even with Beilein coaching. It will happen. You need to set your expectations accordingly.
The next year's team is going to be very very young. The past couple of years of outcome is an outlier when you have a such young team, not the norm. We will be lucky just to make the tourney. You should be ecstatic if/when we do.
To say that you EXPECT the team to make sweet 16 year after year is doing disservice to the program.

50% is a very skewed number because NFL players are a very select group. It is comprised of less than 10% of the very best from NCAA. They SHOULD be making a lot more than NCAA players who are not as talented or rare.
10% is probably right in line with what they deserve. If you count in athletes from non revenue sports, they are getting paid too much as it is today.

You are mischaracterizing what I said.
NBA players get paid what they get paid, because they are extremely rare. There isn't another system in the world that says you have to pay top 10% of the workers the same way the top 1% are paid.
There aren't dozens of LeBrons that you can pick up off the street. The NBA players get paid what they get paid because there only few hundred people in the world who can do what they do. There are thousands of NCAA players. The scale is not the same. There is no reason why you should diamond prices for bunch of cubic zirconiums.
That is my pet peeve with all these articles. The vast majority of NCAA players are not unique. There are thousands others who can fill their place (and do every year). To argue that they should be paid like NBA or NFL players who are far rarer is a fallacy.

Why wouldn't the university value gymnasts as much as a football players? The whole point of athletic scholarship was to promote diverse interest among students. If you take the revenue out, there is no difference in value between basketball players and soccer players to the university.
