We haven't played a great team at home in 2 years either. It's a cool streak, but I don't think we should be beating our chest about marquee victories over an ND team coming off of a loss to USF, an 6-6 MSU team who may or may not have fielded an offense, a 6-6 OSU team, and a fringe top 25 Northwestern. Those were all incredible games to witness as a Michigan fan, but its not exactly some unprecedent streak of Michigan home dominance.

I don't think MSU has a good chance with Henderson or O'Connor(Conner?), and Durkin looks to be leaning towards Northwestern. I could see Kizer going there, depending on who else offers him. I think ultimately they will land a very solid plan B guy.

NW and ILL had bad games against us and I wouldn't say Minnesota was on top of their game.  Also, our defense is terrible. 

Several people have posted other studies, not to mention the case evidence from many former players and pretty intuitive conclusions that you could draw regarding brain damage and repetitively hitting your head.

Michigan's AD held over 200 million dollars in debt for the 2012 year, so that wouldn't make much sense.

And OSU hired a guy who won 2 national titles in 3 years. The Big East is pretty much a mid major at this point and I don't think there is a consensus that Jones is an impressive coaching hire given that he followed in Kelly's footsteps. He was Tennessee's 5th choice at the highest. Many successful head coaches in non-BCS conferences were hot coordinators just a few years prior. Also, I wouldn't use Mullen(a guy who said he publicly said he would take the PSU job and was turned down) and Richt as examples of all-star coaches.

He's going to be exposed 8 years into his career? Isn't picking good assistants what coaching is all about? Hoke isn't exactly an offensive mastermind and has one of the best DCs in the country. Oklahoma won the B12 this year and won plenty of big games. Don't understand the Ole Miss hate.

Misleading title. The fact that he didn't name MSU in his top 3 does not offer any indication as to if he has noticed Reshke's efforts. Let's not poke fun at kids who we have offers to that also have promising players at their HS for future classes. 

Mack Brown makes a ton of money to coach there and hasn't really been held accountable for their recent poor performance.

So far he has only completed one full recruiting cycle. For 2012 and 2013 so far, at skill positions we have 1 5 Star, 4 4 stars, and are the favorites for another 5 star and have a decent shot another 5 star. This has been during a period of recruiting where we have been heavily focused on rebuilding the OL and defense. Criticism that Hoke can't recruit skill position players is stupid. 

I found the commentary in this one to be fairly annoying. Especially Klosterman. Endless annoying comparisons and platitudes. 

Or he could have just made up his mind or save a spot in their class? Many recruits commit before taking all their scheduled visits.

I believe they can. While I don't think they will be favored against either to say that they can't win is fairly absurd. If Alabama makes it through, I think ND's front 7 against Bama's run game will be a good matchup, and McCarron has not looked very good lately. 

Great idea, fire the one man who has kept the B1G relevant and preserved its status as a top tier conference even as the schools have been placing tire fires on the field.

Why would you take another one and risk alienating that higher touted guys who have stuck by Michigan longer, especially when depth at other positions is more of a concern?

The thing is the channels that cover college football, if paid for seperately would probably excede the cost of your current tv bill. You can only watch The Daily Show and South Park for free because millions of other people are paying for it. Jon Stewart isn't working for free with a donated studio and the revenue generated by people watching a few ads online isn't going to cover the costs of producing the show. 

Sell them to Google? Could be an option considering I think one of the founders was a UMD alum(and a Michigan grad school alum?).

Yeah but the renovations were to increase revenue and give more people the opportunity to watch football, not in the spirit of some sort of competitive advantage. Additionally, a 56 million dollar facility for 100+ athletes is a similar level of spending to a 40 million dollar indoor rowing facility for a team of around 50 athletes. 

In other words, rivalries are predominately geographic because football scheduling was geographic, so national rivalries really weren't even given a chance(USC-ND as an exception)

More money=more opportunity for athletes to get a free education while partaking in a sport they love. 

I don't think either of those are really good analogies though:

1 Of course politicians hate the act of fundraising, no one likes asking people for money and pretending to like them and care about what they have to say. That doesn't mean they don't like the present of money in the political system.

2 In NCAAF, recruiting players is about having sweet facilities and a broader influence that will help you to be given the benefit of the doubt in polls. In the NFL, player's care a bit about about facilities and desire to play on a winning team, but mostly salary dictates their decision. 

As much as people want to complain NHL expansion was largely successful. Labor disputes have hurt the league worse than anything(if you want to argue that these were caused by expansion than you may have a point).

Both. The Devin Denard packaged worked well when Denard couldn't throw, and could be even more dangerous if Denard has a passing option. You could always swing Gardner out as an WR on plays and put Denard under center.

I imagine they crossed paths at some point in the MAC. Yes, it is coachspeak but he could have just as easily said nothing or given a more generic comment like "he's a good/knowledgable football coach."

I think another point that people are overlooking is that while Maryland and Rutgers are not that popular now in terms of attendance, television viewership, and broader fan support, entry into the B1G gives them a much better football product to market. No one in New York cares about Rutgers vs USF, but I would think that Rutgers v Michigan, Nebraska, OSU, PSU would bring a significant more amount of interest to the team and possibly bring parts of the NY market into the B1G fold.

Character is Odoms raising money for his community and Omameh doing an all-around amount of good works. Character is Gardner willing to ride the bench, switch to WR, and then switch back to QB in a week when the team needs him and Denard willing to take a reduced role during his senior season because of an injury and DG stealing some of the spotlight. Character is Denard supporting other Michigan sports teams when I'm sure he is as busy as anyone, always giving credit to his teammates, and always smiling and showing graciousness to fans.

Writing a long and incoherent rant on tumblr about how you are the best player on the team(even your mom's friend says so) and how the head coach is a nefarious manipulator because the staff made some offensive and unacceptable remarks doesn't show that much character in my eyes.

The deuce package wasn't exactly a wild success overall last year. Now that DG has emerged as a downfield passer its a completely different story.

Seriously, he runs a 4.64 40 according to Rivals(not sure how many fakes that received). That's pretty fast...

This season is an absolute disaster considering their expectations and their QB/WR talent. But they are still probably going to go 7-5 with a difficult schedule(played Oregon, Stanford, good UCLA team, will play ND) and 75 scholarship players in Kiffin's 2nd year. I'm not sold that Kiffin is a good coach and that he won't eventual lead USC to mediocrity, but I don't think this season is causing many recruits to seriously considering bailing.

1 Using your logic Brady Hoke was not a good coach prior coming to Michigan because his claim to fame was winning a MAC division championship. If you want to continue to ignore the context of his success at UCONN(was literally a FCS school when he took over) you can, but then Hoke's relative success at SDSU and BSU was not impressive either. Also you are incorrect in stating that Edsall won the Big East only once. 

2 My point about Brown and Diggs was a response to you claiming that he would never convince quality local players to stay home after his first season, not a basis of support for him being a good coach.

3 Further evidence of Edsall being a competant coach and UCONN being a really crappy job. Edsall was 74-70(22-26) at UCONN. His successor, Pasqualoni, who although I'd say isn't a tremendous coach currently, literally has the most wins in Big East history and has a 9-13(4-8) record at UConn. 

He's such a terrible coach that he took a program from FCS football to being competitive in an AQ conference(blah blah the Big East sucks we get it) in a location with almost no football talent. He also convinced 5 star WR Stefon Diggs and 4 star RB Wes Brown to "hitch their wagons" to him after his 2-10 debut. To say that he is a terrible coach because he went 2-10 after a transition that was even more controversial than the RR coming to Michigan and that Maryland when there wasn't much talent on the team(Danny O'Brien was arguably the most heralded player) is asinine. 

ND is not in the AAU because it is an insitution focused primarily on undergraduate education. VaTech isn't in the AAU because it simply is not that good of a school. Maryland will get better with Edsall, they literally are on their 4th string QB( Remember how well Michigan played with our option number 2 in the Nebraska game?). Maryland will likely improve as they start to keep more and more of increasing amount of elite DC area talent at home.
