We are the members of the All American League. We come from cities near & far. We have got Canadians, Irish ones & Swedes. We are all for one, we are one for all, we are all American. Each girl stands, her head so proudly high. Her motto "Do or Die". She is not the one to use or need an alibi. Our chaperones are not too soft, they are not too tough. Our managers are on the ball. We have got a president who really knows his stuff. We are all for one, we are one for all, we are all American. |

BS. That's GM speak because he doesn't want to admit they didn't know what to do. How is that NOT tied to the selection if they had called him and said they were going to?

Was watching the game with my dad. My wife, my mom and my grandma were in the other room talking about family photos or whatever women do.
My dad and I are usually obnoxious during games anyways, but we had been quiet for the most part due to the intense comeback. Trey hit that three and I yelled "OH MY GOD" and got a yelp from my grandma in the other room, cursing me for almost giving her a heart attack.
And then I ate cake. |

Dick Vitale doesn't care that Burke was a smidge off of his season average because Craft ~"contained him no matter how many points he scores." Also, the game shouldn't be decided by a foul call...but 6 seconds later it should be because Hardaway flagrantly called Craft a douche on his pathetic last shot attempt. Excuse me while I teabag my maize and blue balls all over Dicky V's scrotum face. |

The kid being a little shit is actually debateable. I have fallen on a soccer ball like that before and it can knock the wind out of you. The Chelsea fuck may have accidentally knocked him to the ground and the kid clearly lands on the ball. Whether it was his intent to waste time or not is debateable. It's possible, but debateable. What is not debateable, is that the soccer douche canoe should've been fucking mauled by everyone. Even if I was on his team I would've knocked him out and probably rearranged his face while he was KO'd. |

I use Adobe Premiere because i know it best. i have used gimp, you wanna use a youtube to gif converter (google it, there are easy online ones). open gif in gimp, there should be an animation view option. each frame will be a layer...kinda made the type of edit I did here tedious. Premiere makes it simple with layered video and motion tracking. Blender may be a decent free option. i would look at animation/video software instead of image manipulation. final step is online gif optimization...again google websites. hope that helps! |

EA will do what they want. This is just marketing. At one point a bunch of internet trolls got Kentucky into the lead by a wide margin, but somehow Notre Dame was being considered the leader (even though 3rd in votes behind UK and Louisville) from some BS loophole EA setup for itself like "well, if the team sucks and doesn't have a big draw, we don't care because $$$" |

I was at that St. Mary's game (dad is also a beaver). Was that a Friday or Saturday? I seem to remember a Michigan game around then at some point we may have gone to, been to or watched.
|
| 22 weeks 6 days ago | Understandable |
Probably never watched Ishpeming play. They may lack size on paper, but they hit hard and their two offensive stars (QB and RB) are potential DII talent, which is something. I watched a few Ishpeming games throughout the regular season this year. Very few mistakes and they stick to assignments. |
| 22 weeks 6 days ago | So proud |
I'm 5 minutes down US 41 from Ishpeming. A buddy of mine has been filming Kostreva (the championship record-breaking MVP) for recruiting tape. As the season went on, everybody could feel this turning into a bittersweet story.
People drove to the east side of Marquette to greet the Hematite champs on their way back from Detroit where US 28 meets 41. They were heralded in the holiday parade the next day that had perfectly been postponed due to weather.
If you took the Hematite home crowd (hell, even away in some cases) and packed them into a section of UM stadium, you would know exactly where they were from State Street. They love their football and they are deserving of the success.
I've met and interview Coach Olson and other players in the past, and I'm glad the championship went to such a deserving team.
Rock on, Hematites!
|

I, without a doubt, am more intelligent than the Lions coaching staff. 8 seconds before 2 minute warning with a punt upcoming and they use their last timeout. Have they ever fucking watched how much time a punt takes? Holy shit. |

Wisconsin's record may be silly for a conference champ, but they were in every game they played. Biggest loss was by 7, three of their losses in OT and most by only a field goal. Yes, a loss is a loss, but to shrug the rolling cheese off as a weak opponent is...well...weak. I feel Stanford is an excellent matchup for them, but even in defending Wisconsin here I still think the tree takes the cheese, but it should be a good game. |

Thanks, I struggled getting back into .gif animation (completely different program I'm using now compared to when I did these years ago). Only thing that required any talent was the lighting effects on the delorean time display (which was photoshopped for appropriate dates, then added movement/lighting to make it look somewhat believable). |

No, I thought people might say that. He was actually commending Denard in a common way, admitting not many teams can stop a healthy Denard. When it first came out of his mouth I gasped, but he definitely said it in jest and this example is not a reason to hate Kelly. Other examples perhaps, but not this one. |
| 34 weeks 4 days ago | Thank you! |
I am glad they used it, though. I thought it was a good segment the way they did it (although I wish they would make a half hour show out of that whole game, at least). |

I was toldby a couple people saying that. Unfortunately, my father didn't get his season tickets this year. He has had those seats since 1979...but I moved 8 hours away a few years back and he doesn't feel like hassling to find people to go to 5 or 6 games (I was making it to one or two after I moved). Is your face in that video? There is one chunk of footage I gave ESPN that has a good shot of the rows below following the Roundtree TD, but I didn't put it in the embedded video. I'm going to laugh if they show my father giving me a high-five.

Best thing about this video is watching Hart. What about finding a highlight where Hart doesn't fall forward when he's tackled? A few times in that video I thought for sure the defense was going to push him back, but he always managed to slip forward.
And yeah, I remember Braylon doing that flip against OSU 2003. The victory formation was right near us in the student section. I pissed myself with freshman excitement because I figured beating Ohio was going to be a common thing during my years there. And then 2004-2010 happened... |

I was at both. But I was 12 at the '97 game. I remember everyone going apeshit when Woodson did his Woodson thing, and I remember staying the latest I had ever stayed at a Michigan game post-victory. But there weren't a ton of people still there while I was.
UTL, on the other hand, was chaos. I have never been to a sporting event that was so emotional and, rightfully, capped by karaoke time for 30 minutes after the game. It was a stadium full of people with a ton of energy, no desire to move and not completely understanding why a football game just gave them one of the biggest euphorias of their life. I hugged random strangers, a lot, and so did everybody else. Everyone was too happy and noisy to really even rip on the ND fans, except maybe laughing so more and saying "I don't know WTF happened, but that sucks for you guys".
I feel the stadium experience was hands down better for UTL than '97, but from home, I have no idea. |

I've been riding the Ericsson hate-train for a long time now, but I don't think his contract is that ridiculous. As much as I'll grit my teeth saying this, he's been a fairly good penalty killer. He is a very high risk-mediocre reward sort of player and does not play up to his size very often.
But the contract is not what gets me, it's just having him take up a roster spot over Kindl/Smith. That I don't like one bit. |
| 46 weeks 2 days ago | Ugh |
I think Wings fan have been deprived of a tough fighting forward. Tootoo takes so many useless penalties, a lot of them critical, and barely produces anything. Very few Nashville fans are going to cry over this. He didn't suit up for most of the Wings-Nashville series.
The Samuelsson signing I'm iffy about...he can score but I hate the way he plays.
Brunner and Gus are awesome. Tootoo is an absolute shite signing, and I'm leavin the book open on Sammy. |

And accurate. 10/10.
Regarding OP, generally you'll get the idea of dirty with an unnecessary/wreckless hit that can or does cause injury.
Don't hit the head ever, unless it's the fault of the guy getting hit (skating with head down, making a move, etc.). You'll see guys get their faces smashed in (like a Kronwallian smash) but no penalty because the guy getting hit is skating with his head at shoulder level and Kronwall is technically playing the body. Clean hits can be from behind if the guy is up against the boards and you aren't charging him (really more of a pinning or defensive check), but this can be up to the refs discretion if the hitter is violent. Pretty much any check from the front with contact initiated below head/above knees is going to be legit (unless it's interference where the guy hasn't had the puck for a few seconds). And don't judge a hits legality by the reaction of the opposing team. When guys get creamed it has unfortunatly become common practice for the teammates of the demolished player to get their panties all in a bunch and start fights and cheapshotting everything in their way (Chicago, Vancouver, San Jose...well way too many teams have started to do this). The refs can be a good judge on clean vs. dirty hit, but they're not always consistent. The announcers generally have a good idea with their slow-mo replays. Refs are at their worst when it comes to the chintzy hooking, tripping, interference sorts of penalties (no consistency in any game). But when it comes to hits they tend to be pretty good. Shanahan, on the other hand, is a fricking joke and don't pay attention to anything he says or does with regards to suspensions. Who knows where his Wheel O' Suspensions will land next... |

People are talkin about Dantonio, who I think is fairly ranked, but completely overlooking Brian Kelly at 18. He certainly had great coaching in his blunder against Brady Hoke /s And has he accomplished anything positive at Notre Dame? Maybe going all Grunka-Lunka on his players, but he didn't sing while doing it so I award him no points. He belongs nowhere near the top 40. |

Playoff hockey. Have had two TVs setup in the living room since game 2 (I learned my mistake game 1 after too much channel switching between Pens/Flyers and Wings game). I think the Wings will win by two today. I also hope the Flyers can practically seal their series, but the Pens aren't going to back down easy. Vancouver will probably hack, slash and cheap shot their way to a narrow victory. But I really hope they get swept out of the playoffs. |
| 1 year 5 weeks ago | Yep |
All Bubba had to do was down a deuce of Bud, yell something about how he's going to murder the ball and swing as hard as he could. It's called the "subpar golfer" shot. |

I still don't know how they overturned the Fitz touchdown. Get your cameras on the goal line! Refs apparently can't handle looking at two angles. |

I'm a Chili Pepper fan and I saw them at Van Andel a few years back: 2/10, would not watch again. Holy shit practice a tad and put together a decent show.... |

Good thing he's in the lineup so we've got at least one guy giving it his all.
I'm not terribly confident in this series, unless the Wings get back to their early season "we actually care" style of motivation.
Either way, I've got a pint of Kessler to celebrate or cry with. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Historically... |
If we drop to 6th and San Jose wins the Pacific, we'll probably be swept right out of the playoffs.
I'd much rather have home-ice against Nashville than away against any west coast team. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Um... |
I didn't say he wasn't the best, but you're telling me you agree with the moves I stated above? Every GM makes mistakes, and I'm mad at Kenny for Ericsson and Quincey.
|
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | WTF |
I'm a Wings fan, and this is not the year to be cocky. A sweep by Nashville would not surprise me at all. We may have "pieces", but we ain't got no drive. We're like Mustang only firing on one piston. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Well |
I'm breaking everything I own and stabbing my Ken Holland voodoo doll. Hey, I got an idea, let's sign Mr. Turnover Ericsson to an inflated contract and tease the team with an actually competent defenseman named Brendan Smith! Oh, and we'll trade for Quincey, whom we previously cut, just so we can make him a healthy scratch because he's worse than Mr. Turnover, and both of them combined are worse then Brendan Smith. /fucking fuck you Ken Holland sarcasm Bud Light Platinum wording, btw, but my sober feelings completely. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Yeah |
Him and Jack Johnson are both going to turn their teams around... |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Hah |
Save that anger for the playoffs, Jack Johnson. Oh wait, you're team is fucking horrible and you're pretty lackluster for the third pick in a draft.
Enjoy mediocrity, if your team can make it there. |
| 1 year 8 weeks ago | I dunno |
Man, the 96 game 7 double OT winner by Yzerman about gave me a heart attack at the age of 10. *bonus points for MacTavish not having a helmet, Gretsky having the turnover to Yzerman's winner, Lidstrom jumping for joy and Scotty Bowman on the ice in about .02 seconds (briefly seen at 1:38 with a shitface grin).

Shut up about it, we're lucky this game isn't worse the way we have been playing. Cornell has been playing like idiots, but we've been playing like idiots with no drive.
Let's fix it this period! Go blue! |

I am a loose vegetarian (tried vegan for a few months). My wife read The China Study and got us involved in a local vegan group. They screened this movie in november (rented a theater) and had a pretty good response. Haven't seen it yet, but I try to only eat meat one to two meals a week so I already got the message. What it comes down to is the people, themselves, choosing to eat healthier. Its not meat/dairy farmers or McDonalds who keep consuming this western "diet". The people get what they want, they just need to care about getting the right things. Btw, mexican food is a staple for my diet. Protip: you can sub meat with beans in anything at taco bell. |

If you mean because the Wings won games in OT, overtime was around in the 1929-30 season when the Bruins had 20 in a row (10 minute OT period, not sudden death, final score at the end of OT was the deciding factor). When Philly did it there wasn't an overtime, but for both teams there was a significant advantage by only having a limited number of teams to play (and general lack of widely disbursed talent).
10 teams total in 1929, 18 in 1975. I think that makes it about a wash. |

Title and post not in proper 5 paragraph hamburger format. No clear thesis statement. Grammar is shoddy and your avatar is less than creative. 2/10, would not read again. The Rutgers thread, however, is clear and much more interesting due to the clarity. I come to MGoBlog to read properly formated statements and opinions, not about "interesting, personal" stories that "may actually be worth discussing". /s
All that aside, I have really liked what I've seen from Big Will Campbell (BWC for those who don't know) this past season. Yeah, he can get better, and it looks like he's trying. Let's hope for the best for him and the team. |

Sorry about reposting this. I really don't see this thread anywhere on the MGoBoard pages, only on the sidebar to the right. This board has some major technical/design flaws, but I guess that's already been discussed and no action was deemed necessary or whatever...
But anyways, I really hope somebody had a camera rolling. TO THE YOUTUBES. |

I did check the board first. I can't see this magical original thread except at the right. I really wish the coding/navigation of this board was the same sophistication as the content. |

I really don't see the original thread on the MGoBoard main page...only now when I look to the right sidebar do I see that thread has been posted. I opened up 3 new tabs to go 3 pages back to see if this had been posted. What kind of sorcery do you all use to see these threads? Why am I not included? Bah. |
| 1 year 17 weeks ago | But... |
Did you win every single meet during those 31 national championship years? I think the main point of this wasn't necessarily the 13 straight NCs (which is still damn impressive), but the 252 straight victories in season and postseason play. That's just redonkulous. |

I'm more of a Frazier sympathizer...I was really into Ali when I was a kid, but then I actually read the things that arrogant ass would say about his opponents, namely Frazier. And his uber cool marketing agent was so uber cool. Too bad Joe couldn't keep the blood rage for Ali a little more quelled, Frazier probably could've beat him more than once. I don't celebrate anything about Ali anymore, which is a shame after he was a childhood hero of mine. But to each their own, I suppose. |

| 1 year 23 weeks ago | Continued? |
Did it say anywhere he was the one that continued the confrontation? They both had to walk back home the same way. Kampfer was already verbally and physically being abusive .Kampfer made the stupid choice by getting drunk enough and verbally and possibly physically abusing a much smaller female. I give Milano props for not sticking Kampfer right there. He also didn't know the extent of Kampfer's injuries, which I can believe. Being in a fight before, it's better to just leave so the violence doesn't continue. Why would he stick around with someone he just fought with? Ask him to dinner? EDIT: Also, the gymnast's friends testified that Kampfer had been at least verbally abusive in the past. Sounds like a guy with issues to me. But believe whatever you want, it won't change anything. Milano's doing great things and Kampfer's got millions of dollars to pay off the lawyers next time he abuses a woman. |
| 1 year 23 weeks ago | Ignorance fail |
"obviously trailing Kampfer and talking shit to try and pick a fight" Yes, it was so obvious the legal system decided to reduce the charges. Sounds to me like Milano acted out of defense for the gymnast and then in self-defense. Kampfer just hit his head, unfortunately, on the concrete. I suppose if Milano had just taken the punch and gotten the concussion, he would've just gotten what he deserved and Kampfer would still be the hero. Hey, Brawndo's got what plants crave. |
| 1 year 23 weeks ago | Well... |
Good to see Milano get some redemption. The legal system seemed to think Milano was justified. Seems like the hockey star/coach got what they wanted and the weak first-year coach folded. Now Kampfer's playing for the Bruins and Milano's doing great things across the world. Good for both of them. If Milano was a big-name starter, people may have looked further. But instead, the media gets to put up their eye-grabbing, misinformed headline as usual and a good person bites the dust because of it. Kampfer can try to abuse (verbally or physically) innocent women, but for every Kampfer there's a good Mike Milano to put you in your place. The comments at the Daily are status quo, with people putting blind "beliefs" in part of the story. Multiple accounts of PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE clearly distinguish this as a fair, face-to-face altercation with a case of verbal and/or physical abuse of Kampfer directed towards a female (which had been taking place for a while, as testified by the gymnast's friends). Another reason to hate the Bruins? Check. Rootin for Helm or Abdelkader to give Kampfer a clean run (lol at Abdelkader-MSU irony). *awaits downvotes from blind UM hockey fans*

But cereally, as a kid I would've picked Woodson. Now, I'm picking Denard. Not because of the dilithium or statistics, but because he defines how Michigan players should play and act on and off the field. Plus his smile be like dang. |

| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Why close the thread? |
People are so quick to call for a thread shutdown. This has not actually turned into that bad of a conversation. We do have opposing viewpoints, but that doesn't mean we can't converse. Is this kind of how Congress works? If we disagree and somebody calls to shutdown, then we either agree to hug or shutdown? But I don't have anymore immediate points to make. I left a message with Delany's assistant. You guys do what you want. Just don't resort to useless name calling because THAT is what really provides good fodder for other forums. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | I do understand. |
I'm not going to come over there and force you to call Delany and I understand why you won't.
And yes, I'm sure TWIS will be entitled Occupy Big Ten Headquarters. And I will have a laugh. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Huh? |
Well you're kind of right, I didn't play football "well". But I had passion to play well, I'm just not athletically talented. That's why I went to U of M for an education and not for football. But I really don't understand everything that followed that statement as far as the overarching theme. I just see a lot about your 8 years of "dirty" but not "dirty" football play and then some loose connection to the current topic. I listed specific players, not the whole Spartan football team (which I did actually congratulate on a deserved win). So please, take a little bit longer to formulate a clear message and a little more formatting. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | It's not the score |
I'm not talking about the actual loss. What I'm talking about is that student-athletes' safety was put at risk by an ineffective officiating crew.
Some of you are so quick to "Love Denard", but yet some won't even support a suggestion to call the powers that be in order to support his safety? Fine, don't call Delany. Call David Brandon. I didn't want this thread to be a pissing match or flame war, but I guess it is still the interenet. I just wanted to post a number and easy instructions to voice the concern of the safety of the Big Ten student-athletes. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Responding to the Negative comments |
I thought I made it clear I understood the causes of our loss on the scoreboard. But are we going to put our "internet-cred" over the safety of our student athletes? If RCMB mocks us for this, then that's their own issue. I'm talking about the right that everybody has here to contact the commissioner of the Big Ten and let them know how they feel about the SAFETY OF THE STUDENT ATHLETES IN OUR CONFERENCE.
Sorry for caps, but that is my clear message. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Don't spread ignorace. |
I did play football, actually. Lakeview High School, Battle Creek, Michigan - 2003. When one of our players, during a city rivalry game, grabbed another player's facemask and repeatedly slammed his head into the ground he was ejected and suspended for a hefty portion of the season. Thank you for assuming incorrectly, sir. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Politics, really? |
You're going to loosely bring politics into a discussion about student-athletes safety? Stop posting before you constitute actual trolling. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Please read. |
What does it matter if they missed it or not? I am sure they are well aware of the issues at hand, but they won't fully understand the seriousness that the on-field conduct display by certain football players has with regards to the impressions of the Big Ten football teams, players and fans UNLESS we actually voice those opinions. Why are you so against contacting Jim Delany? Do you think he's totally gonna pwn our opinionz and Halol at the whining Michigan fanbase? And why am I being down voted for trolling. Really, people? Promoting safety is trolling? Holy crap I've overestimated the general intelligence of this forum.
|
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | In response to "whining" |
I am not encouraging useless whining. I am encouraging people to take action to make sure Big Ten officials know the fans do not approve of the conduct displayed on the field today. Congratulations to the deserving Michigan State players for their hard fought victory today of Michigan. But not all players deserved to still be on the field at the end of the game.
I'm talking about Big Ten student-athlete's safety and that's considered whining? I strongly suggest those against calling the Big Ten commissioner strongly reconsider the point of this thread. |
| 1 year 31 weeks ago | Holy cow! |
First, to the gentleman that was willing to call and put his opinions in a positive and effective manner (not just forum banter) - to reach Jim Delany: 1. When first prompted, press 8 for directory listing. 2. Press 5 and 4 (starting to spell Jim) 3. Press 1 to call Jim Delany 4. Further headaches, press **132 and you will be forwarded to an assistant's voicemail with no apparent tone to leave a message 5. Start talking and press # when you're done. It will give you proper prompts to re-hear your message or delete it. - I pressed # when I first got confused for the lack of a message tone prompt after dialing assistant's extension. You can then press the appropriate button to "re-record" your message. That is the entirely too difficult way to give any sort of vocal message to Jim Delany's assistant. |
