For those who don't know (and apparently the OP didn't), Off Tackle Empire (OTE) is overwhelmingly anti-Michigan. Seriously, they say "Fuck Michigan" every chance they get. They also spend nearly every thread sucking OSU's dick.
If there was a bit more balance in the hate (like if they hated on OSU as much as us), I'd consider hanging out there. But at this point it's largely filled with Sparties and Buckeyes.
Edit: For a point of reference, three of their admins are Buckeye fans. They have ONE Michigan writer who shows up like once every four months to write a piece.

|13 weeks 6 days ago||I actually didn't think||
Borges was a horrible OC. Everyone hates their OC because of obvious reasons. Borges' problem was he tried to make Denard into a pro-style QB (never gonna happen), and he stuck too much to the pro-style stuff when he didn't have the personnel to do it. How much of that was Hoke? It wasn't like Nussmeier came in and immediately fixed everything. (RR ran a spread in 08 with pro-style players and we went 3-9.) We all know Hoke hated the spread and insisted on doing certain things.
The bigger issue imho was Darrell Funk. Dude fucked our OL in a huge way. Got worse every year, they couldn't run block, couldn't protect, so at that point it doesn't matter who your OC is.
Borges probably won't be hired by ND. But if he is - it's going to be fascinating to see a west coast pro-style guy like him mesh with Kelly, one of the most spready-spread guys around.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||Oh, I'm not debating that.||

"all Urban Meyer has to do is keep this young team focused when they play Michigan"
"Michigan's schedule hasn't been all that challenging, it turns out. We won't really know how good they are until they play that last game in Columbus."
"Michigan has a real test ahead of them that last week"
Those are the few that immediately come to mind. I love how he thinks all Urban and OSU have to do is "stay focused" but Michigan and Harbaugh have the most daunting task in the world ahead of them.

very "meh" attitude towards Michigan in this preview.
For a team that he saved for the #2 spot for the Big Ten, and a team that he previously has said every time he starts thinking about previewing college football it "begins and ends" with Michigan, he certainly didn't seem very enthused.
You can tell when his mouth is watering when he writes about a team. I don't think his mouth was watering here.*
And aside from his obvious whiff on the D-Line stuff, which others have pointed out, his preview is generally very cautious. Maybe that's because he and others have expected great things from Michigan in the past and have come away disappointed.
He also seems to be catering to the doubters a little bit:
Overall I liked Bill C's preview, but I was feverishly waiting for it in the hopes that he would dispell a lot of my doubts and fears (Thanks, Michigan football PTSD), but I came away underwhelmed. He seems to be a little sleepy on the Wolverines. I'm left to assume he thinks OSU will crush it in 2016.
*Maybe he's just another Michigan hater. I dunno.

2. Pat Fitzgerald
3. Mike Leach
4. Bo Pelini
5. Steve Spurrier
6. Will Muschamp
Honorable mention: Brian Kelly, Tommy Tuberville, Randy Edsall, Dabo Swinney, Mike Gundy, Nick Saban(?)
|38 weeks 4 days ago||Re: Does Urban Meyer have a Pro QB?||
No. But that hardly matters when his quarterbacks go 12-0 and lead the Big Ten in total offense.
Spread QBs will always have a home in Meyer's system and will probably do very well most of the time. Of course, the same could be said for pro-style QBs and Harbaugh's system. ;)
Both are equally valid, but since Harbaugh is our coach, I'd probably favor Harbaugh's system more. Of course, part of me has always been biased against the spread for some reason.

|38 weeks 5 days ago||Georgia||
Georgia going to the CFB in Kirby Smart's first year ever as a head coach would be shocking to say the least. I do acknowledge that Georgia has the talent accrued from the Richt days, but is a complete n00b HC like Smart - albeit one who was groomed by Nick Saban - really THAT much of an upgrade from Richt, who took them to multiple SEC championships?
|38 weeks 5 days ago||I personally have mixed feelings about this||
I realize a nuanced view doesn't always sit well with the board. You start with a few negs and then it gets blown out of proportion.
On one hand, I want us to be good. I trust in Harbaugh and he has proven over 2015 that he is a competent coach who will improve the team over the course of a season.
On the other hand, this is exactly where I was in the offseason before 2012. I wanted to believe that Hoke was the second coming of Bo/Lloyd and that we were going to eat MSU/OSU's lunch for the rest of eternity. Obviously we all know how that went.
Harbaugh is not Hoke. Duh. They're worlds apart in terms of competency and resume. But what's the same is the ridiculous amount of hype going into the season. It goes with the terroritory of being a Michigan fan, but for once in the last 7+ years I really want that hype to be justified.
It just seemed like any time we got the slightest bit of hype or expectations the whole thing came crashing down. So I look at projections of Michigan being in the playoff and - while I want them to be true, I want to be excited - I also kind of want to leave a comment that says "Hope MSU and OSU don't blast us on the field for this."
I love Harbaugh and am glad he's the coach. I'll join anyone in the cultish chants of HARBAUGH that we all purvey on here, sure. But I'm also going to be at least somewhat skeptical of pure 'safest Playoff pick in the country' awesomeness going forward.
Let's just start with beating the fucking rivals before get all crazy about playoff runs.
Go Blue. Neg away.

I do see how it goes with the whole "Michigan arrogance" thing but is it really necessary to keep doing it? Even Ace has called for fans to stop.

|2 years 1 week ago||Curse of Borges||
This is admittedly a really good point, but is a kid really doomed to fail just because Borges recruited him? Seems a little memeish and distanced from reality. Speight is only a RS freshman at this point and could potentially have four years of being tutored by Harbaugh rather than Borges.
How is this a knock against Speight? Lots of QBs train with a private QB coach to get better and get more exposure. And that happens in high school, college, and the NFL. Also, lots of parents who see potential in their kid pay for private lessons or put together highlight reels. I feel like your assessment of Speight is a little unfair.
|2 years 1 week ago||This is about as well-reasoned as anything||
|2 years 1 week ago||Hey, I'm 6'2"||
Sure, I think it's tall enough, but I'm not an NFL scout, and apparently people knock on 6'2" guys because it's not "prototypical" height (which is what, 6'4"? bfd). Of those four QBs you mentioned, only really two are franchise QBs in the NFL. If Malzone is the next Brees, then I say hell yeah. But what if Speight or Gentry is the next Luck?
|2 years 1 week ago||I just figure people haven't||
I just figure people haven't had their coffee yet.
Look, we're not talking about who the actual starter is... at least, I'm not. Obviously, in that sense, it's way too early to know. Okay, yeah, I'll grant that we haven't seen much of Malzone or Speight beyond high school highlight tape, but to be fair, we haven't seen much of Peppers beyond high school highlight tape either (he wasn't exactly Mr. Impact last season), and everyone seems to think he'll start for sure based on that.
Really, I was hoping the discussion would go this way naturally, but I guess I'll just come out and say it: Which would you rather have as the starter: a 6'2" accurate guy who has the potential to be the next Drew Brees or Tom Brady, or a 6'6" beast who looks like Harbaugh could make him into the next Andrew Luck?
I'm really torn on it. I want to give the nod to Speight since he's had the benefit of redshirting and getting through a year of physical training. I don't feel too great about throwing Malzone to the wolves as true freshman, either. But if Malzone is really Mr Accurate and he's ready to play then hell fuck yeah I want that guy as the starter.
Obviously whoever gets chosen will be OK because of Harbaugh. No one is questioning that. (At least, again, I'm not.) If anything strikes me as pointless, it's the "Whoever Harbaugh" and the "Too Early for My Brain to Even Think about this" responses. Those things don't contribute anything to the discussion other than to hurr hurr mgosnark. Excuse me for wanting to talk about football and there being barely anything to talk about.

|2 years 1 week ago||Too early?||
What's wrong with at least broaching the subject?
I realize the season is a long ways away, and we will probably add 10 more QBs before then. But I mean hypothetically, if it came down to Malzone or Speight, who would you choose? I think that's not a too OT topic for the Mgoboard.

I didn't mean it as a joke, that was just my most outstanding memory of his play at QB over the past 2 years

You're setting yourself up for disappointment. Crystal Ball to M is 7%. The recruiting guys aren't very optimistic.

Ah. So this is Grumpy Howbow's take.

Don't worry, be happy

do you mean Kevin Sumlin going back to Purdue won't be that big of a deal?
I DON'T KNOW WHAT ANYTHING IS ANYMORE
|2 years 8 weeks ago||Well||
Mondays are clearly not the best days to post things

ran something about this about a month back (LINK), though I don't think the picture is a month old. If it is, apologies!

have a lot going on
|2 years 8 weeks ago||Bigger than Harbaugh?||
or not as big? Stoops has a national championship to his name. It would at least be on par with OSU hiring Urban Meyer, imo

but I think you're making a funny
|2 years 8 weeks ago||Kyler Murray||
Texas and Strong are going after Murray hard. He's an in-state guy who most fans want because he's the type of player Mack Brown would have passed on and then go on to win the Heisman at another Texas school. It would be a bigger deal (from a Texas perspective) for Strong to get a homegrown five-star like Murray rather than keep a pro-style four-star statue like Gentry.
Right now Gentry is Strong's consolation prize if he can't flip Murray, but if he loses both, there is going to be serious egg on his face.

that "Blue Know It" segment is a year old. It's about Brady v. Manning in the AFC championship

JFK said the same thing about Marilyn Monroe, but I think he meant something different.
|2 years 9 weeks ago||I really hate that attitude.||
"When else in life will he get to experience something like this?"
So that makes it okay? I really hate it when people say it's cool if a kid wants to milk the attention he's getting. Here's a thought: how about some fucking humility? Yeah, you're a highly rated football stud, but you go out and shatter your femur, muck up your knee, etc., nobody will want anything to do with you. Don't feed the beast that makes it that way.
If he's genuinely torn, that's different. If he really wants to wait and make his decision after a few weeks of careful thought, I'm cool with that. But to say it's cool for him or anyone to be a primma donna is not something I partcularly dig unless they come to Michigan and back it up in a big way. So in general I'm only cool with it after the fact, not before.

because I initially read it like this:
"What a tool. He says NFL coaching is an unending grind and... What a tool."
|2 years 9 weeks ago||I like Frank Caliendo||
Some of his impressions (Madden, Gruden) are a riot, others not so much. He continues to work on it, and hey, if the guy can give a few people a chuckle, what's so wrong about that? Lighten up, folks.
|2 years 9 weeks ago||You'd think if anyone could||
You'd think if anyone could understand and/or sympathize with Harbaugh, it'd be Jimmy Johnson. He won big at Dallas and got pushed out because he didn't get along with the owner. Then he goes back to a place he was familiar with and the people rejoice at his homecoming. Sound familiar?
But no, he has to hang out with Urban Meyer, King of the Douches, and then say things like this. F you, Jimmy Johnson.

I mean, for Christ's sake, the article has "roars into Houston with Heart" in the title.
