16 hours 40 min ago I would agree with you if he

I would agree with you if he decided to attend even the non-rival ND, but he's going to Ohio... He will most definitely be remembered.

20 hours 40 min ago I think tragedies like these

I think tragedies like these just put things in perspective as far as priorities. Not just as far as the difference between a new roof and a new house, but also the difference between having a family who's alive and safe and losing a loved one. As you said, houses can be rebuilt, but you can't replace a child/mother/friend. I think the best thing to do in situations like these is to count our blessings, and instead of complaining about the little things in life that seem to not be going our way, find joy in what we've been blessed with and try to learn to not take those blessings for granted.

20 hours 46 min ago Yeah, they are going to

Yeah, they are going to rebuild. Moore generally has lower property taxes and a much cheaper cost of living than a community like Edmond north of OKC. It also doesn't have the crime of South OKC, so people tend to like the area more for those reasons.

22 hours 14 min ago I live in the Edmond/Oklahoma

I live in the Edmond/Oklahoma City year - moved here about 4 years ago.  It seems as if every "devastating" tornado that has hit the metro area since I've lived here carved a path right through Moore. Not growing up here but living here long enough to know a bit about Oklahoma's tornado history, I would never move to Moore. It's just one big bullseye.

On a side note in talks of damage/lives lost, Moore had about a 20 minute heads up that the tornado was coming.  News feeds and weather updates are heavy and frequent in this area when it comes to tornadoes, and my crew at work was already watching the TV even before the tornado hit outside of Moore. Almost everyone should have known it was on its way, and more than likely 100+ lives will be lost from this one tornado.  Back in the day, they had no warnings; if they weren't looking up in the sky, they probably had no clue one was coming.  I feel that if we still lived in that age today, the lives lost today would have been WAY worse - possibly hitting that #1 spot for most lives lost. The damage from this thing is unbelievable. Everyone who lives in this area can feel this one, and we all know someone who this has affected. It's just crazy.

6 days 18 hours ago Three words. Penn. State.

Three words. Penn. State. Visit.

OMG PEPPERS IS COMMITTING TO UM AHHHHHHH

1 week 6 days ago Not exactly the same

Not exactly the same situation. The state of Oklahoma has a pretty solid base of recruits every year, almost comparable to Michigan. Then there's Texas, its border state, which is one of the 3 biggest recruiting states in the country. Texas may be large and spread out, but Michigan's recruiting spread is very comparable to Oklahoma's spread. Nebraska is literally in the middle of nowhere.

Here's a list of Nebraska's border states:

South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming.

You could maybe include Missouri, which is probably the best recruiting state among those remotely close to them (Missouri or Colorado). Not to mention that the state of Nebraska isn't exactly known for it's elite football either. Sure, some eliteish guys can pop up here and there, but not near as frequent as even states like Michigan or Oklahoma.

Short story: The current recruiting trend does not assist Nebraska in any way.

2 weeks 4 days ago I think it's pretty cool how

I think it's pretty cool how they're all down to earth about it all and not super competive about which shool they ended up joining. I'm sure it isn't easy to develop relationships with guys you're walking around with on your unofficial visit that could end up taking the spot you covet. That's a lot of pressure for a 16 yr old kid, and they seemed to all take it pretty cool.

3 weeks 6 days ago I received my t-shirt

I received my t-shirt yesterday, so they must have the corrected t-shirts in. I wouldn't be surprised if you receive yours in the next couple of days as I live in Oklahoma City.

4 weeks 4 days ago Please refer to USC 2013

Please refer to USC 2013 pre-explosive diarrhea.

And just throwing it out there, but the "16-17" is what they have available right now - there is potential for a bigger class if (when) attrition happens.

I will also state that all recruiting sites rank classes differently, so some sites are a lot tougher to grasp that #1 spot with a smaller class than others.

THERE IS A CHANCE I SAY.

EDIT: What WoodChuck said.

4 weeks 5 days ago The reason I wouldn't worry

The reason I wouldn't worry about this is the fact that Beilein is really good at making changes if necessary. If his initial plan isn't working as he'd hoped, he won't just sit on it and hope the team improves individually if better options are available. College basketball is a game where multiple lineups work, particularly situational lineups. Some games might work best with McGary at the 4 while other match ups might ask for more athleticism, and Beilein has proven to understand this (especially this past season). Not worried about it at all.

5 weeks 1 day ago I agree, which is why I said

I agree, which is why I said "potential." Regardless, Hand+Peppers+Malik>Treadwell+Isaac (in my opinion).

The fact that we're even in the top three of the top two players in the country is just further evidence that Hoke is changing the tide in the rivalry, not to mention jersey sales in Ohio.

5 weeks 1 day ago It's early, but it feels

It's early, but it feels like our class has the potential to look like USC's epic class from last year prior to it's epic crash (small but loaded).

5 weeks 2 days ago I am going to go ahead and

I am going to go ahead and say that if we don't get one of either Hand or Peppers, you will see the return of the 'meme.' And not from me, just to clarify. Losing out on highly ranked prospects tend to bring out the worst in the extremely diehard 'I follow recruiting way too closely' fan base.

5 weeks 5 days ago Wow.

Wow.

6 weeks 19 hours ago I don't know about you, but I

I don't know about you, but I watched the whole game from start to finish on CBS. I saw some shots of the Fab 5 and a heard a few discussions, but I didn't miss one second of the game or feel slighted in the least because they attended. The cameras were on the game when they needed to be on the game, and the commentators knew they were commentating a basketball game and not a Fab Five reunion piece.

If you had troubles focusing on the game because they were in attendance and were getting too much "attention" (in your opinion), my guess is you are taking this situation way too personally. Enjoy the game, man. This thing doesn't happen often enough to let something take away from you the excitement of this experience.

I think it would be interesting to analyze the population of Boliva (as well as mgoaccount creations) during Rich Rod's regime. I'm going to go out on a limb and say... records were broken.

Waaaaaaaaait a second. I thought Meyer was going to take all the recruits we ever wanted from us. Must be some funny business goin' around. Maybe Wilton is secretly committed to Ohio and is allowing us to believe he is recruiting Drake to UM when he is actually informing him that if they all play for Meyer they will have the best team ever and win all the championships. Hoke must put an end to this before it's too late!

28 weeks 6 days ago Conley blah blah rabble

Conley blah blah rabble rabble. Dawson blah blah rabble rabble. Treadwell, Green, McQuay OH MY.

Come on, guys. We're fine. We still have a top 5 class even after losing Conley (potentially) and Dawson. AND we still have a great shot at all three elite prospects mentioned above. Those of you who are freaking out that this will steal Treadwell's spot, well if you don't friggin' remember..... Treadwell just announced last week(?) that he's taking an OFFICIAL to Michigan.  I highly doubt the coaches would give up on Treadwell after that announcement, and if this commitment would really hurt our shot with him, I feel like the coaches maybe would have held off a little longer before offering Da'Mario. We still could snag all three elite recruits, and this hurts them none.

So just shut your traps, and welcome our new friend, Da'Mario Jones. He could be The Threat 2.0 but 6 inches taller, you never know. I have high hopes for the kid, especially if he's a slot type; fyi WE NEED THOSE.

WELCOME.

Edit: Apparently I needed to be a bit more clear. In context, the above statement was quite comical. It's just that "coal" jokes are all too prevalent in my life. 30 weeks 17 hours ago WAIT a second... are you

30 weeks 4 days ago OK, Gerg, We're the freakin'

OK, Gerg, We're the freakin' Wolverines, are we not? Why not use a wolverine instead of a beaver while acting as our d-coordinator at least? If you personally believe beavers are better, then I can't blame you for using them while coaching for any of your other teams. However, if I was a wolverine.. I'd take it very harshly that you used a beaver instead of one of my own while coaching the Wolverines. I mean, it doesn't make sense really. If we were the Michigan Ducks, I'd understand. I'm sure a beaver could kill a duck quite handily. But a wolverine would absolutely DESTROY a beaver. I honestly think more people would have understood him if he used a wolverine instead of a beaver to help motivate our defense, and honestly.. he might have even received some props for that.

EVERYTHING MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE NOW.

31 weeks 2 days ago My girlfriend has epilepsy as

My girlfriend has epilepsy as well (controlled through medications), and she was forced to take anxiety medications since stress was a major reason for why her seizures came back a few years ago.  From what I understand about coaching... stress would seem to be quite common in the industry.  So between fatigue and stress, I would say being a NCAA Division 1 BCS-level coach is probably not the most ideal job for someone who has problems with seizures. Not saying he should quit, but I wouldn't expect his condition to get much better while he remains a coach. Pretty sad, indeed.

32 weeks 3 days ago Actually, I would too if I

Actually, I would too if I was Dawson. If my memory serves me right, pretty sure he got a "little" backlash when he contemplated taking a "visit."

35 weeks 1 day ago I see your point, but I think

I see your point, but I think character should also be a prerequisite in determining this "legend" status, which Denard would surely qualifty for that portion.

I really don't care to argue for or against him being a future "legend" at this time assuming this trend continues (the man still plays for UM - let him finish his career first), but I've heard character being discussed with these current "legends," and so I just felt as if that point needed to be made.

35 weeks 5 days ago I read this article today,

I read this article today, and I was just about to post this. I think this shows that not only does Michigan do it right, but our fans are awesome.

Feelings I obtained while reading article: Joy, pride, extreme jealousy... Freakin' kids, man.

FYI, Dave Brandon played this one right. From a marketing perspective, this was pure gold and essentially handed to him. "Michigan" is plastered in news markets all over the world, and for something extremely unique; it stands out. What better way to get your name out there. Not to mention that it was quite the charitable thing to do (and extremely cool).

+1 for Michigan

35 weeks 6 days ago From what I could see...

From what I could see... Frank Clark didn't start last week. It's possible that instead of just suspending him for game after game, you could slowly give him more playing time as he earns it. I'm not saying Hoke will use this method, but I think this method could work on certain occasions.

And whether he plays or not, Hoke is clearly disciplining the kid. He's earned my trust enough to know that when he says something, he means it. I personally feel like the fact that Hoke benched both Touissant and Clark for the Alabama game and not a UMASS type game is definitely telling that not only did he take both of their situations seriously (and put teaching them in front of his own desire to win games), I think that there is probably more to the story than any of us knows with Clark since both suspensions were for the one game. We know Touissant's story; Clark's actions are the ones that are unclear. I'm not saying you can compare the two either way, but I am saying that you can compare the suspensions - both one game - and maybe come up with a conclusion that it might not be as severe as it first sounded. But again, it's hard to conclude with much without the full story.

No matter what, I trust Hoke. He's legit. It shows through what recruits and players have to say about him, and it shows through his interviews. I have a hard time believing anyone can look at Brady Hoke and just plain dislike the guy. He's classy, and he's highly respectable among other coaches. In fact, I've heard OSU fans say good things about him. You won't hear Michigan fans saying things like that about Tressel or Dantonio too often.

Point being, I'm not concerned about this at all. Let him do the coaching and the teaching, and we will most definitely see his discipline structure as time passes. Players will continue to make mistakes. It happens to everyone. Let us judge when more evidence is available.

Short Answer: Yes

Long Answer:  Oh my freaking gosh, yes. If it wasn't Brian, it would be someone else. Heck, even MAGNUS loves him. MAGNUS! I will honestly say that the few occurrences post-slaughterdome where I had a smile on my face involved Norfleet returning the ball. That was the only up-side to Alabama scoring A LOT. And Brian did very minimal to help with my giddyness over the kid. It's mostly due to my current fixation on recruiting and the fact that he was the one kid who was offered and committed on national signing day. He instantly became famous because he was "that guy" as well as the fact that he's a "local." AND that he's essentially Darren Sproles, who of course everyone loves.

Well, if you win, then there's a lot to gain.  Can you imagine the insanity on the board if we would have won? Talk about a season and career-defining win for the Michigan football program. Recruiting, media hype, and all kinds of hooplah. Yes, it sucks we lost. And it's difficult to see any benefits of this game after such a rough defeat, but there are some major potential rewards for scheduling games like these.

"Doubt" he says. Treadwell has consistently claimed Michigan as his #1 and has yet to change his stance on that matter, and it seems the only competition we have for Green is Auburn (also must note that Dawson has tweeted consistently that he thinks Green is coming to Michigan, most recent being this weekend).  AND Mcquay, the only dude who doesn't have Michigan is his top three (who did before we sort of told him we were full at the moment), well... his top 3 is currently USC (presumably full at 18), Vandy (5 DB commits), and FSU (the team who replaced Michigan).  I think that of the three, McQuay is the least likely to commit, but I still think there's a pretty good shot at that one, especially since he is planning on an official to Michigan per Tremendous today.

That being said, I agree with everything else.

I kinda follow the same logic as you here. Usually go 20-25% at restaurants, but I try to keep my bare minimum at $3 per meal. For instance, go to a a dine-in pizza place where my meal is $10 and I'll automatically make it $13. I usually feel bad for the waiters who work at cheaper restaurants thinking they make less in tips than people who do the same job for a little bit fancier restaurant. They're doing the same job for about the same amount of time, sometimes an even better job, but they get jipped on tips just because the food is cheaper and not as many high-priced drink options.  That's my logic anyway.

I'm just going to say this... while I'm all in with the Shane lovefest, calling him a future Heisman winner before his senior season of high school starts is a bit much. Only four players will win the heisman while he is eligible to even play. FOUR guys. And despite the fact that QB tends to be the position with the best shot at winning the award, he still has to compete with quarterbacks from multiple classes. Get excited, definitely. Just don't assume he's the next Peyton Manning before he even steps on campus. Even if he is that talented, it's pretty well known RB is going to be an important aspect of this offense, which will take away from his numbers. I'm really dang excited for him to play for Michigan, but I don't think it's wise to get your expectations too high let alone predict that far into the future.

As far as personal fanfare goes, Ibaka is the love of my life. I would never trade him. EVER. My heart flutters every time he blocks a shot and waves his finger back and forth.

(Assuming "I aka" is referring to Ibaka)

Otherwise yes, I understand the Harden move. He has said, however, that he would take less money to stay with the team. I just don't see a reason to break up something (and someone) that has already brought you to The Finals and still has another potentially ten years of progression to look forward to. I have a hard time thinking that Harden won't improve since he's only been in the league three years.

46 weeks 5 days ago As an avid Thunder fan, I'm

As an avid Thunder fan, I'm curious to see if they make any big moves today or not. There have been rumblings about a potential swap for the #3 pick to get Beal, probably sending Harden away... Apparently Sam Presti (Thunder GM) is in love with the kid.

Personally... this idea kinda terrifies me. The Thunder has a chance to win it all next year, and I'm pretty sure Harden>Beal....

I didn't watch Beal very much at all, so I have no opinion of the guy in general, but I know there's a chance they can't afford Harden after this year.

I honestly don't think they'll pull the trigger on Beal, but if they do... that will definitely make the Thunder's chances of getting back to The Finals a lot more difficult.

47 weeks 4 days ago Ahhhh I'm not so sure about

Ahhhh I'm not so sure about that. I think they'll have a fall off, but I'm not so certain about the "severe" part. People down here still expect big things from them, and they have the coaching personnel to make that happen. Despite losing Weeden and Blackmon, they still have enough weapons to put points on the board even if it's not to 2011 levels. Their defense should be very solid this year as well.

I wouldn't expect another B12 championship, but I also wouldn't expect them to just go away. Their future is still bright, especially if they can bring in talent like Treadwell. Their recruiting has definitely spiked in the last few years.

47 weeks 5 days ago Yeah, I agree. As you point

Yeah, I agree. As you point towards, Harden and Ibaka's contracts are both up at the end of next season.

I haven't looked at the numbers as to what the Thunder will be able to offer them, but I believe Russell left the possibility of getting them both locked up by not getting the full max deal everyone expected he would get. Harden will be the tough pull I think. I know there will be teams willing to shell out some major cash to get him, so the Thunder will have to compete with that. I think it's possible though.

47 weeks 5 days ago I live in the Oklahoma City

I live in the Oklahoma City metro area, so obviously I'm a tad bitter about the outcome, but I feel like this was the Heat's year. Honestly, I expected this outcome. The Thunder are so young, and this was most of their lineup's first Finals (minus Fisher and Perkins). You could tell it affected them in the first two games especially when they started off so cold.

Honestly, I could very easily see these two teams back in the Finals next year. The top teams in the West besides the Thunder are basically just another year older, so I have a hard time seeing any of them improving much without a little player shuffling. In the East, I think the only team that will challenge the Heat are the Bulls, and that is IF Rose is healthy. The Thunder and the Heat have a potential rivalry building here. It's possible it ends up as the next Lakers/Celtics rivalry.

Either way, I'm happy with the continue progress the Thunder have shown over the last four years. The potential is endless with this team.

47 weeks 5 days ago Feel bad for Durant? In four

Feel bad for Durant? In four years, this team turned from one of the worst at 23-59 to making The Finals. He loves it in OKC and has explicitly stated that many times, and he is playing for the second youngest team in the NBA with their three best players all under 24 years old. He has a better setup for future success than Lebron when he moved to Miami.

Also, I don't know how you could say a team is "cursed" when the majority of the team just lost their FIRST finals. Lebron didn't win until his third try. This statement is wrong on so many levels.

47 weeks 5 days ago Well, regardless of what you

Part of the deal is that with football Notre Dame is independent, so they don't have a conference schedule.  You could kind of say Michigan is part of their "conference schedule," as is MSU and USC as well as others.

In basketball, however, they are a part of the Big East and, therefore, have their own conference schedule.  Even though it's highly possible for ND & UM to play every year due to the non-conference schedule being decently large, it's still not quite the same situation as football. If they played all of their annual football nemeses in basketball every year, they'd only have maybe 5 interchangeable non-conference games on a given year.

Yeah, but now that conference sizes are increasing, conference championship games become more important.  You can't play everyone in your conference anymore.  It's difficult to come up with a conference champion with that scenario unless you split the conference in two and have a conference championship to decide the ultimate champ.  It may be a money grab, but it will hold even greater importance as conference sizes likely continue to expand.

50 weeks 4 days ago The only thing I don't like

The only thing I don't like about the "top 4" scenario is that this could once again create controversy by allowing teams who didn't win their conference to potentially make the playoffs, which only diminishes the importance of conference championship games and also gives way to the possiblity of the "Alabama/LSU rematch" scenario, which is the biggest argument for the whole playoff scenario.

And let's not forget, this could allow the potential for OSU/Michigan to play THREE times in one season. If controversy stems from a "rematch," I'd like to believe the college football community would be more pissed from a "re-rematch."

1 year 3 days ago According to Wiki, they still

According to Wiki, they still about 11 declared national championships (same as Michigan). Obviously two of those are in the recent Carroll era, but they still claim 5 championships between the 60's and 70's. There is a lot of tradition there, they just kind of lost it for a few decades.

Yes, there was cheating, and during that time they won a few national championships, but they still paid the price for it. And even during those times of punishment where they couldn't attend any postseason games, they still pulled in great classes with the limited scholarships available. You can't really argue against that.

In general, though, the NCAA has backed off on the severity of punishment dished out to programs who cheat. I just don't think you can throw USC under that bus.

1 year 4 days ago Actually... they did

This is just something that bugs me, so this is nothing against you.  I just don't like how Spike's been talked about as a "career back-up."  You just never know, dude.

Also, I'm kind of puzzled by this whole "2-star drags the class down" meme. That's what it looks like ESPN is doing here, but how does that even make sense? Our class gets worse by adding a 2-star? It's not like he's dragging down our class and will hurt our team down the road, shrinking our chances of success. If you don't think he adds anything to the class, then that just means it stands where it was before.

The biggest reason I say this is because I don't see a "numbers system" that ESPN uses like Rivals.  I've noticed in football recruiting rankings, ESPN tends to analyze class rankings by team needs in addition to player rankings (perception).  In other words, I'm confused.  But whatever, it's not like Michigan will not be as good because ESPN lowered their class ranking.  Just gives us something to talk about.

1 year 4 days ago I don't think I've ever seen

I don't think I've ever seen more 5's and -1's in one board as long as I've been visiting this site.  Apparently this is a touchy subject.

On to the subject at hand.. Personally, I think the most "traditonal" aspect of the uni's are the helmets. If we ever see those wings taken off the helmets, then I'd say it's time to get seriously pissed.

I'm a little indifferent about the uniform changes.  I think it just depends on the route DB is taking.  If he can minimize the changes and still keep the standard uni in check minus a couple of big games a year where they change it up a little, I'm probably fine with that.

However, we are not Oregon. And we definitely aren't freaking Maryland. Just please, please stay away from THAT.

It also will depend on point differential.  If we get creamed and win-out in the B1G, it will just make the B1G look weaker and not help our chances at all.  If it's close, 1 close loss against Alabama could result in NC Rematch #2. Great way to kick off the playoffs next year.

Side Note: I have a feeling the way everything went down last year would make everyone NOT want to see an Alabama/Michigan rematch, and if Alabama won game 1 and lost an SEC game, Alabama would surely go ahead of Michigan.

He's still the most reputable coach in the B1G with the most national championships to his name.  Despite the fact that I have no positive feelings for the guy whatsoever, I have no reason to argue against him being the #1 coach in the conference until it's proven that he's no longer that good.

In conclusion, +1.

1 year 2 weeks ago It's tough to say that Spike

It's tough to say that Spike will "always be a back-up."  You never know what can happen.  He might either have to play due to injuries, or he might eventually crack the starting lineup over time as an upperclassman.

I just don't ever like hearing things like "always be a back-up," especially before the kid even makes it to campus.  Besides, you never know how long Walton will stay.  He may be an early-entry as well, and we definitely don't know who our future PG options will be after him.

First, I guess I kinda assumed the whole "semi-pro hockey/AAA baseball/zoo" thing would be taken as a joke..

Anyway, I totally agree about the OU fans. I have nothing good to say about that school in general. Dislike them with a passion. Hated them before I moved here, and I hate them more since living here. I was dragged to a few games, which I went for the experience.

And honestly, the thing that really drew me off the most was how they finish off the national anthem "home of the Sooners." I cheered for the other team after I had to listen to that. Not that I wasn't going to anyway, but still.

Hey, now. Be nice. There's semi-pro hockey, AAA baseball, AND even a pretty solid zoo! Top ten even!

But seriously, Oklahoma fans are legit.  The OU/OSU rivalry is very similar to UM/MSU.  Oklahomans love their football and LOVE the Thunder.  We sell out pretty much every game.

Also, I will say that Oklahoma City is very underrated. Including the metro, it's about 1.5 million.

On the box where the cake rests, it is written.. "Take some, yummm."

So instead of going too far with the whole toss the cake at her/in the garbage in front of her idea, I just decided to write with permanent marker on the box, "J/k, don't.  It's poison."

I don't really care if anything comes of it, but I feel better having done that.

1 year 5 weeks ago While I agree, I don't think

While I agree, I don't think this as strong of a statement as you make it.  Ryan Mallett left, but after him there really is no other argument.  Denard and Tate were there in year two.  Tate canned, but Denard stayed and has now blossomed into one of the best quarterbacks in the country (although not your traditional NFL guy).  He may not be a future star quarterback in the NFL, but he will get his shot, especially in today's move towards more mobile quarterbacks.  And really, Denard was the first shot after Mallett to reach the NFL anyway.  Sheridan and Threet were never going to be those guys.

The knock is that we have essentially had two three/four year starters in the last 8 years.  It's not ideal to have a guy start for three or four years.  And honestly, Tate possibly could have had his shot if it wasn't for all of the off-the-field issues.  I don't really blame Rich Rod for that.

1 year 5 weeks ago No, but just because he

No, but just because he didn't start for USC doesn't mean he wasn't developed there.  It's not like he was picked up by the Patriots because he was terrible, just to transform him into a starter.

1 year 5 weeks ago I know Beilein will figure it

I know Beilein will figure it out, but this team is going to be completely different from what he is used to coaching.  I think it will be really fun to watch, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a little adjustment period before the team plays to their potential.

Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if we scored 100 pts every game and went undefeated.

So this one time, there was this guy named Trey Burke, and he was loved for his immense skill on the basketball court.

When rumors spilled of him leaving for the NBA, those who loved him were then found with a wide range of emotions.  Some were angry, others questioned their religious beliefs, and most of them just cried.  Only few held hope for the future.

However, just when all hope seemed to be lost, Trey had a sudden change of heart.  And.. ah screw it.

HECK YES TREY'S COMING BACK!!!!

1 year 6 weeks ago This isn't really related to

This isn't really related to your question, but it is related to the 2013 class.  Read on Scout that Scott Pagano (4* DT) is reporting an offer from the coaching staff.  This comes after Greg Webb's commitment to Penn St.  Link is below, but it's paywalled.

I have a feeling that by the end of Spike's career at Michigan, he will be, in fact, quite loved.

I really dig this addition to the class.  This is what you call "filling a position of need."  With quality might I add.

1 year 6 weeks ago Talk to Russell Westbrook

Talk to Russell Westbrook about what can happen after your freshman year.  The dude turned into an athletic freak AND grew a few inches.

1 year 6 weeks ago I will add that if, in fact,

I will add that if, in fact, he does decide to leave, I too will be in "mourning."

However, having gone through these "mourning" before, life goes on.  And I'm still excited to see how far our program will rise, because it will most definitely continue to do that.

1 year 6 weeks ago All I know is this can't be

All I know is this can't be an easy decision for Trey.  For those getting all worked up about this and kicking him to the curb, give it a rest.  He has an opportunity here to make a lot of money, a LOT more than I've ever had the chance to make.  To say it's a no-brainer to just give that all up without contemplation is just immaturity, even if that same opportunity could be guaranteed next year (which it can't).

Most of our thinking has a lot to do with our emotional connection to the Michigan basketball team and our desire to see the team's success magnify next season (and on).  In reality, we have no personal connection with the kid.  He doesn't owe us anything.  This is HIS choice.

Rationally, yes, I think he's probably not making the best decision if he leaves.  That can be backed up by his parents and coach Beilein's actions in response to his stance on leaving school.

However, regardless of what may or may not be right, give him a break.  The consequences of his decision (whether to stay or to go) are yet to be determined.  And our program will not die if he chooses to leave.  For those that think it might, refer to the 2012 & 2013 recruiting classes for evidence of the contrary.

1 year 6 weeks ago Look at it this way... The

Look at it this way... The kid played with McGary and GRIII on their AAU team.  They already know how to play together.  I would like to think this gives Spike a little bit of a boost at least in team chemistry.

He may not be highly touted, but it sure sounds like he can play the point (of course this is based off of "coach speak" in the linked article, but still). Is he a Trey Burke? No, but who says we even need a Trey Burke on this team to be successful? We will have enough playmakers in Hardaway and GRIII, a shooter in Stauskas, and a crash-the-boards type in McGary as far as touted talent goes.  We need a guy who can distribute to them. Granted, he'll just be a freshman, but it sure sounds like he has the tools to be a true point guard as someone who can control the ball and distribute.  Maybe that's all the team needs to perform at a high level - a Steve Nash type (not comparing ability, just the type of player).

If we get this kid, I will be very happy.  Even if it just means we actually have a true point on our team.  Which... yeah.  I'd say we could kind of use a little bit of that.
