6 years 1 week ago The only thing that I can

The only thing that I can think of is that Shanahan knows he messed up the Weber thing and is trying to get come continuity in punishments. Hagelin got 3 for elbow to the head, Shaw gets 3 for elbow to the head. IMO, Shaw's elbowing was a lot more severe, and it was on a goalie (See Lucic vs. Miller earlier this year). I'm not too surprised he got 3 games, even though it still sucks.

Again, I'll reserve judgement until I see what Asham gets. He's been thugging it up all series and THAT is the worst play of the playoffs so far.

6 years 1 week ago I'm pretty sure Shanahan has

I'm pretty sure Shanahan has a dice with 0-5 on it and just rolls it for each hearing. For Asham, he's probably going to use 2 dice.

For the whole keeping the best player available, should be interesting if Backstrom gets anything for his match penalty last night. While it wasn't with the same force as Asham's crosscheck to the face, it was the same move.

Also, while Shaw doesn't have the starpower name that other Blackhawks have, he has been one of the more effective players over the second half of the season and is a crucial part of our checking line. Him not being in for pretty much the rest of the series worries me greatly (yes I'm a hawks fan).

I think the image of Terelle Pryor, or any other football player, dressed in khaki cargo shorts, hiking boots, an olive colored shirt, and a hat is hilarious. I see him wandering around a forest with a map and compass, wondering which berries and mushrooms are edible and which are poisonous. He needs to stop at a tree to look for moss to help him reorient after he can't read the 4 directions on the compass and tries to throw rocks to smash little animals for food. Knowing his accuracy, the animals are plenty safe.

6 years 35 weeks ago I think your wife will be

I think your wife will be happiest (and you therefore as well) if you stay downtown. You get unlimited shopping. It is really easy to take the L up to Evanston. The red line drops you off a few blocks from Ryan Field and runs really frequently. You would be able to budget shop a lot easier for hotels as well. Also, you wouldn't need to worry about driving to and from the game.

If you are looking to stay up in the suburbs (I grew up 20 mins away from Evanston), Evanston has botiquey shops, but doesn't have too much hardcore shopping. The best place around is Old Orchard Mall, which is like a 15 min drive away. There is a lot of office space around there and I've seen a few hotels around (prices probably wouldn't be . Try searching in Skokie, IL.

6 years 35 weeks ago Some advice...

As a Michigan grad (out of state) I can safely say that I got an excellent education and don't regret my decision for a second. Fortunately my parents were able to pick up my tab, but I had plenty of friends pay their way. You seem like a motivated kid and are definitely competitive for U of M. I don't know what the price difference is for U of M vs. MSU at half-price, but it shouldn't be unbearable. Do you know what field you want to go into?? That makes a difference. If you're thinking business or engineering (well anything that you will get a job right out of college) going to a school with a big name, big companies that interview nationally is a huge benefit. Every single one of my friends who went through engineering or business is very successful right now, including my fiance. I decided to go the medical school route, and I think it doesn't matter as much which undergrad you went to if you are applying to law or med school (or any sort of grad school). They look for overall achievement while at school rather than which school you went to. I graduated from U of M with slightly above a 3.5, and I'm sure I could have done better if I went to State. However, I took a lot of pride in the quality of the institution, so I don't regret my decision.

Ultimately, you need to worry about where you feel most comfortable. If you keep the same motivation that you have right now, you shouldn't have too much trouble paying off your loans eventually. Also, I would look at privately offered scholarships. Even 1,000 here and there can add up and you seem like you have a pretty good story, which never hurts for personal statements.

I did the same thing my sophomore year. It was always a fun challenge to try to get the parents out of the room, tell the girl that we were having a party. Give her my number and to call me once she got to the line and I'd get her and whatever friends in. Worked like a charm multiple times. That and trying to get tips. 6 years 40 weeks ago While none of this surprises

While none of this surprises me, I think its really interesting that the Ohio BMV only looked at the legality of the player car deals. OSU halted their investigation after the report, but it seems to me that they never truly looked for any NCAA violations. Hopefully the NCAA picks up on this and conducts their own investigation, especially after reading the records of the OSU compliance office's thoughts on car deals in years past. The case keeps building for Lack of Institutional Control.

7 years 1 week ago my u of m fandom

is in my blood. my grandpa graduated in 1936 and my moms entire side of the family went here. my dad is a u of m grad as well, and took me to my first football game in the big house when I was 2 months old. I have made it to 2 or 3 home games each year since, always driving or taking the train in from Chicago. I got to see the best and worst games...think kordell Stewart hail Mary, as well as the woodson vs. Boston in the epic 97 game. Running onto the field was one if my finest memories while visiting Michigan as a kid. When I was applying to schools, my parents let me choose wherever I wanted to go and would help me pay for school with two exceptions: nd and osu. my dad pretty much said he would disown me is I went there. Picking Michigan was an easy choice and my mom admitted after my decision they knew I was going to choose this fine institution. I'm proud of my upbringing and that I can carry on the third generation alumni status, graduating in 2008.

GO BLUE

7 years 2 weeks ago I agree...I think that

I agree...I think that besides the very rare NBA playoff upset (the Warriors over Mavs was one of the best series I have ever seen in any sport), you can pretty much figure out who is going to make it to the East/West finals each year before playoffs start. There are way too many opportunities in basketball for things to even out over the course of a game. NHL, on the other hand, has more teams on equal footing. The change in the game momentum caused by a penalty or goal has a lot more impact than say a dunk or 3 pointer. This causes hockey players to play at 100% all the time, finishing every check, etc. Plus, you get the rare 4 OT games that are absolutely ridiculous, and cause me to stay up until 3am keeping my neighbors up by screaming and yelling at the TV all night.

And I'm pretty sure there aren't too many comedic situations in the NHL playoffs, you might be looking for the word parity.

Shame the kid's going to get lung cancer before he can drive the car officials are trying to give the parents; they should just lock the dad up for child abuse.

Not a bad article at all...I generally enjoy what Simmons has to say. Although having a team with both Joakim Noah and LeBron would challenge the Celtics and Lakers as the most hated teams in the league, more championships would be nice in Chicago.

Our speaker was Bob Woodruff. He was great; both poignant and motivating. Although I was initially disappointed we wouldn't be in the Big House for graduation, the Diag was set up unbelievably and it feels pretty special to be the only class to graduate there.

Considering everyone knows his aspirations to succeed in something other than football (neurosurgery), teams are less likely to pick him knowing that football isn't 100% his life and dreams. Intelligence plays a huge role as a safety, which benefits Rolle, but there are a lot of other concerns that are important to NFL GM's as well.

It usually lasts 3-4 days, definitely shouldn't be more than a week. Anything you can keep down in terms of fluids is better, but it's hard with the nausea/vomiting. Dehydration will only make you feel worse, so do you best on hydration. Since it's a virus, any type of antibiotic won't work at all...so you're SOL that route.

I don't know if this will make you feel better or not, but norovirus is one of the shorter duration viral causes of gastroenteritis...some last up to 2 weeks.

My thoughts go out to the families of those killed or injured, regardless of the school.

CNN is reporting on the article, and it's interesting that the emergency alert system is voluntary for the students.

"Students are allowed to choose if they want to receive the e-mail alerts. On the campus of 50,000-plus students, a little more than 2,600 people receive the e-mails, police told the student paper."

Is anyone else shocked that roughly 5% of the student body would be made aware of a shooting or dangerous situation on campus?

This was one of the best shows of the 90's. One of the funniest halloween costumes I have ever seen is someone dressed up as Kurt Fogg, the host.
