FWIW. Michigan doesn't seem inclined to get re-involved.
|1 day 18 hours ago||Miletic||
Miletic is 2015 and he's not on NTDP. He is only playing for them on Ivan Hlinka right now.
|1 day 18 hours ago||No||
We have a goalie commit, Hayden Lavigne for 2015. It's difficult to get multiple starting caliber goalies on the roster so we have to space them out.
They'll take a project guy in a year or so, before going after a high profile guy in 2017 or 2018.
|2 days 14 hours ago||He won't play for them||
He won't play for Saginaw, neither will Kyle Connor. When the time comes, their rights will be traded for a king's ransom to a team like Sarnia, London or Kitchener.
It's a good sign that they committed together, but we'll see how this plays out over the next two years.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Paperwork||
The U-18 team has replaced Hanifin and Werenski, who are both leaving the program a year early and trying to get into college. If Werenski is admitted early, the plan is that he will be at Michigan. If he's not admitted, he will go to London.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Boka||
Boka is the recruit I'm most excited to see on campus. Playing with Hanifin and Werinski overshadowed most of the other defensemen but Boka is a #1 defensemen; big, physical, excellent skater. Very similar to Jake Gardiner.
Miletic is another player to keep an eye on. He missed the cut for NTDP last year, but has Top-6 potential when he gets to Michigan.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||I wouldn't worry||
Werenski isn't on their roster because he hasn't signed. I wouldn't worry about him not making it just yet.
Steve Racine wasn't on the roster his freshman year when they released it. It's not a big deal, he was added on later.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||A few changes||
No redshirt listed for Mike Szuma. Spencer Hyman is not on the roster.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||I disagree||
Ottawa gets 3 players with unproven but decent potential, an expiring contract off their payroll and an unhappy player out of the locker room. It's a good deal for both sides.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||It's a big trade||
Dallas trades Alex Guptill, Alex Chiasson, Nick Paul and a 2nd round pick for Jason Spezza and Ludvig Karlsson.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Computer rankings||
In college hockey, the computer rankings mean everything.
We can't play BC caliber teams every week, but we want to avoid scheduling too many teams projecting below .5000 in the RPI.
Beating them won't boost our RPI as much, and losing to a team like that is a killer in the rankings.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||It was a surprise||
Nagelvoort was ranked 20 on the CSS goalie rankings in North America and off the top of my head, around 20 goalies were drafted today. Hayden Lavigne was 26 and was not drafted.
MSU commit Ed Minney was #7 and was not drafted either.
|4 weeks 3 hours ago||I wouldn't worry||
I wouldn't worry about him leaving early. Goalie development is a slow process.
|4 weeks 18 hours ago||For reference||
It's been a long time since Michigan had a forward drafted in the 1st round, Cogliano and Pacioretty in 2005 and 2007.
It's been even longer since one of our forwards was drafted in the Top-20, Eric Nystrom in 2002.
|4 weeks 20 hours ago||4 possible||
Larkin is the only Michigan recruit with any chance to go in the first 3 rounds. Dancs has a mid-round projection. Murphy and Lavigne will be late round picks if they're taken.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||We do suck||
We beat a bad England team, but the roster was poorly put together.
Our roster was filled with older players for experience, leaving younger more talented players at home. Again.
Balotelli did Balotelli things, the team was terrible and in the end, Prandelli quit.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Pretty goal||
No chance for the Greek goalie. He was all alone.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Oh boy||
I thought Cesare Prandelli put this team together very poorly. Rossi, Berardi and Destro were all left off the roster and the team couldn't score.
Apparently Prandelli feels the same way, because he just quit.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Wow||
What a game.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||They've come together||
Mexico barely qualified, then lost Corona and Montes.
No one was expecting anything from this team but they've put it together, starting with Memo Ochoa.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Crazy||
If the result holds Mexico will advance to the round of 16 with 1 goal scored, 0 goals allowed.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Great||
The MGoBoard never lets an opportunity to complain about Dave Brandon go to waste.
|5 weeks 1 hour ago||Wow||
Wow. What a shot.
|5 weeks 18 hours ago||For 1||
Offers can become non-committable. If Michigan is only going to take 3 linemen, when they get 3 linemen the coaching staff can tell players they can't commit.
|6 weeks 1 hour ago||Icing on the cake||
Colombia scores in stoppage time, 3-0 over Greece.
|6 weeks 2 hours ago||I like Sirigu||
The dropoff from Buffon to Sirigu shouldn't be that bad. He was goalkeeper of the year in France two years in a row.
I'm more concerned with our attack having Balotelli and Rossi. I wanted to see Domenico Berardi on this team if they can't get anything going.
|6 weeks 2 hours ago||For tonight||
For Azzurri, no Buffon or De Scaglio. Sirigu starts in his place.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||He couldn't oversign him at LSU||
It would be difficult for him to pull a scholarship from his son. The usual form letter, hide in his office trick won't work as well when he has to see him again.
|6 weeks 3 days ago||Oh boy is right||
The only reason I remember Emilien is because he transfered after being demoted to 3rd string behind Van Slyke, then after he left everyone on the safety depth chart got hurt and we had to start Ray Vinopal.
|7 weeks 18 hours ago||Also||
Also, the 2015 class is a big one. As you mentioned above, Warren and Connor are highly rated, but Boka is a defensemen who has the talent to be a #1 and Lavigne is on the CSS Rankings for goalies. Sam Miletic and Cooper Marody are both solid, but under the radar prospects. Cecconi as well.
2016 is even bigger. All 4 players will play for NTDP next year, and 3 of them already have NHL projections.
|7 weeks 19 hours ago||It's a paperwork thing||
I'm not sure why a BC blog is reporting that he committed, that's old news. It's supposed to be a paperwork thing, because he's graduating high school and trying to join the team a year early.
|7 weeks 22 hours ago||No, he didn't||
Revoking a press pass from someone like Bacon or the Freep guys will not end well for the AD, but they did banish him to the pressbox nosebleeds after Three And Out.
|7 weeks 22 hours ago||Oh joy||
I shouldn't be surprised when the NCAA shoots down 3/4 shields every summer, but I still get my hopes up.
After all, this is the same governing body who moved back their contact date and text limits almost 10 years after the OHL moved their draft date back.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Yep||
He was one of the best hitters in the game. If he didn't play in a terrible market for 7 years, at the same time Chipper Jones, Griffey Jr, Sosa, McGwire and the Killer B's were tearing baseball up in larger markets, he would be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer.
|8 weeks 14 hours ago||Football is different||
Baseball and basketball have huge local TV deals, with specialty networks that bring in huge lumps of cash. That's how the Astros made 100 million dollars last year. It's possible if you can land that TV contract.
|8 weeks 19 hours ago||It's like any investment||
You don't make your money back in 5 years, that doesn't make it a bad investment.
In two years the Clippers TV deal will be up, and the national TV deal will be up as well. They'll make at least 100 million a year off their local TV deal, and another 50 or more when the national deal is be renewed.
All this extra money coming in and play salary going down after the lockout, and these teams are starting to make money.
|8 weeks 21 hours ago||It doesn't matter if they're bad||
It doesn't matter if they're bad. In baseball and basketball, low payrolls, corporate sponsors and TV deals make even the worst teams extremely profitable.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||Great||
It's 2014, not 1960. Money wins college football games.
If your traditions hold back the program from winning, they need to go.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||It's a premier event||
There may be less seating, but at Lambeau you can charge more.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||Or||
Title says it all shouldn't be used. If the OP can make a thread, put some effort into it.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||This stuff needs to stop||
There's no reason why a school needs to photoshop pictures to recruit a player, it's weird. It's gets even creepier when the fans start to do it.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||Yep||
You think they would at least have given Pateryn a shot this year. He was on the roster 3 different times and never played a game.
|8 weeks 5 days ago||Hmm||
There's a second signature on that letter, tilt the screen back, it's below the original signature. Not sure why that would be.
|9 weeks 16 hours ago||Before you dismiss it||
This may end up being fake but before you dismiss it, remember that people do crazy things when the little head is doing the thinking.
Brett Favre for example, ruined his reputation and almost ended his marriage leaving creepy voicemails and sending weenie pics to a girl he had never interacted with before.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||Not like this||
They're not losing pieces, the Badgers lose an entire team.
When 4 defensemen and the players who accounted for 75% of your goal scoring aren't returning, it's not a reload. They will not be very good.
As for MSU, they're a sleeper team this year. The Spartans return most of their team and have a few big recruits coming in. They will have a Top-5 defense and be great in goal; the offense should improve with their underclassmen getting another year in the system.
|9 weeks 2 days ago||It will be another tough year||
Every team in the conference should get better or stay where they are, except Wisconsin who will be terrible.
If I had to predict where each team will end up I would say: Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State.
|9 weeks 3 days ago||That makes sense||
In a year that Boston and the Lakers can win the lottery, I'm sure the league is rigging it for Cleveland.
|9 weeks 6 days ago||.||
|10 weeks 5 hours ago||You're crazy man||
Everything that went wrong with RR's Michigan career started with recruiting.
Our classes were high on the star rankings but filled with 5'7 slot receivers and DE/LB tweeners. Not to mention striking out on every QB recruit in his first season.
We didn't come close to beating Tressel in recruiting.
|10 weeks 17 hours ago||Event discounts||
Every event the club hosts they offer two prices, aluimni and non-alumni. I go to so many of the events, why not get it?
|10 weeks 18 hours ago||No||
Anyone can join. I'm a member, I never went to Michigan.
|10 weeks 18 hours ago||Umm||
|10 weeks 21 hours ago||Huge get||
The best way to improve your right defensemen is to put elite talent on the left side.
Blueline recruiting has really picked up this year with four #1 defensemen coming in the next two years.
Also, landing a player London drafted in the 2nd round is nice too.
|10 weeks 22 hours ago||He played 1 year||
He played really good, but In what world does a guy get a statue after playing at a school for 1 year?
|10 weeks 23 hours ago||Yeah||
Improper benefits never impacted a recruits decision to go there.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||100% this reason||
The blueline was comically bad in the second half of that series; terrible pinches, bonehead turnovers. On the offensive side the Pens ran the same breakout with zero results because the Rangers funnelled them down the boards they never changed.
Everytime the camera went to Bylsma he was on the bench with his arms crossed, no emotion.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||They've been doing this for a while||
IIRC, the drill is used to simulate how people would act in large groups if they were without food for an extended period of time.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Not likely||
Let's be reasonable here. For the situation to come into play, Illinois would have to cross midfield.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Re: Connor||
If there's a recruit that Michigan is most likely to lose, it's Kyle Connor.
Connor was already projected to go around the 15-25 range, but after he went to the U-18 Worlds and had a point in every game, his stock is through the roof.
He is arguably the best player in the USHL and is only 17. He will have to decide this summer, go back to Youngstown for a 3rd year in a league he's outgrown, or go to Saginaw.
|10 weeks 2 days ago||Too bad for them||
Their APR was 929.4, the required APR is 930.
The silver lining is that they missed a postseason ban because the 2-year benchmark is 940 and they're at 943.5.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||Not really||
UofI is not close to Chicago and they're a terrible program. He will not end up there.
|10 weeks 4 days ago||Good luck with that||
The idea that someone else is supposed to be responsible for him is the opposite direction of where he needs to go. Life in the NFL is not going to be easy for him.
|10 weeks 4 days ago||No, it's not a joke||
It only becomes a joke when you create a straw man to prove your point.
Why would you expect the NCAA to individually police every school for criminal offenses? It's redundant, the schools can do that themselves. If minimum penalties for similar offenses are what this board is up in arms about, turn your attention to the schools enforcement instead.
Or better yet, instead of using every opportunity to whine about the big bad NCAA, admit McGary was wrong and move on already.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Because they're undersized||
Allen and Lewis are undersized. Good college players, but not what the NFL is looking for.
|11 weeks 20 hours ago||He'll get another chance||
It's the NFL. If you can play, someone will sign you.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||A little late||
But the deal is two-way in 2014, 85,000/550,000.
In 2015 it's one-way 575,000 and he will become a RFA after that year.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||Hmm||
Maybe it's the same guy.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||Another Browns trade||
The tracker on the NFL site says the Browns traded up again, so they're drafting at 8.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||They should pick Lewan||
Atlanta needs a tackle. They should pick Lewan.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||V Smith||
|11 weeks 1 day ago||Oh boy||
Everyone knew that they were going to take Clowney, but it's a mistake. He's the best available, but not at a position they need.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||Too much fanfare||
I just want to see the players get drafted.
The walk-up music, introducing all the players before the draft, it doesn't need to be 3 days. They're trying way too hard to squeeze something out of this and turn it into something special.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||I don't get it||
After years of complaining about Matt Millen ignoring positions of need to draft receivers, fans want the Lions to ignore positions of need and draft a receiver.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||It's Vanderbilt||
I think you're understating how bad Vanderbilt was at football before James Franklin got there.
The last time a coach at Vanderbilt had two winning seasons during his tenure, it was the 50's.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||Hmm||
I agree, this article is very pro plaintiff.
MLive spends most of the article painting the picture of an innocent man wronged by the university, before conveniently inserting a few important details at the end.
There are holes in the story, which is understandable when you only get one side.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||Yeah, about that||
No one is going to pay $99. Not when tickets for some games last year were .50 cents on Stubhub.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||That's what the NBA is||
The players loved him, that's what the NBA is about.
It's not about coaching as much as it is managing egos and getting your stars to play together.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||He learned the hard way||
This is what happens when you try to demote Brian Scalabrine.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||This will do it||
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Give it a rest already||
Some of you will use every opportunity to whine about Dave Brandon and Jim Delany.
Keep pretending that this impacts your decision to go to a game that you probably weren't going to see anyway.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Chicago is next||
I didn't realize until I just looked it up, Chicago is next.
2015 will be at the UC, 2016 in Indy, 2017 in New York.
|11 weeks 5 days ago||No, he's right||
Hayes was a Notre Dame pledge, but he flipped his commitment in 2010.
|12 weeks 17 hours ago||1 game||
Brandon was a quarterback his freshman year, defensive end to finish his career. He played in 1 game.
|12 weeks 20 hours ago||Cecconi||
While Cecconi is an under-the-radar recruit, right now he's one of the most important commits in the class. Without him, Michigan's 3rd pair right defensemen in 2015 is Spencer Hyman, with no right handed replacement behind him.
|12 weeks 1 day ago||I like the direction of the recruiting||
The emphasis the staff has put on blueline recruiting is size.
With Boka, Cutler Martin, Luce, Luke Martin and Cecconi, they've put together a group of big, physical, imposing defensemen.
They don't have a Merrill type guy in the class right now, but after 3 years of watching the blueline get mashed on the boards, throw the puck away and hang the goalie out to dry, a group of guys who get the job done in their own end is something I look forward too.
|12 weeks 2 days ago||2015||
The last few years Michigan's coaching staff hasn't had any luck with their Right-D.
In 2015 the only right handed defensemen on the roster will be Kevin Lohan, Spencer Hyman, Nick Boka and Cecconi. They'll need him right away.
|12 weeks 2 days ago||Probably when it gets updated||
It's been awhile since the sidebar was updated; half of the Michigan blogs on it aren't active anymore.
I'm sure they'll get linked when there's time.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||There was more than that||
The 1st suspension was not as clean as you're remembering. Barry Henthorn has loaning money to Crawford through his charity group, allegedly up to 25 thousand dollars. There were also multiple cars, clothes, and jewlery.
He came back from that. Then there was a second suspension.
When he was in high school he filed paperwork with the NBA to declare for the draft, but withdrew his name. The problem was he had already signed a LOI to Michigan, so he got a second suspension for 8 games to end the season.
He could have came back but decided not to.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||It hasn't seemed to matter||
Red is not planning on coaching after 2015-16.
Despite that we have already built a mega class for 2016-17, that has a shot to end up being the nations #1 class with players who know they will never play for Red.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||From him||
There was quite a bit of negative recruiting going on. Brady Hoke would be fired, sanctions were coming.
IIRC, Hoke had to call him and get the situation sorted out before he signed.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||We were going to be sanctioned||
The night before signing day, he told Peppers the NCAA was going drop the hammer on us for the Gibbons case. It almost worked too.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||That's all a show||
Yes, the Clippers lost their sponsors but those companies already gave the franchise their money for this year.
Tiger Woods lost his sponsors too, they came right back when it cooled down. They'll do the same thing with the Clippers
It makes the company look good and doesn't hurt anyone in the long run.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||That's not how it works||
Hockey recruiting is regional. We don't get our pick from the NTDP program.
Right now, we only have 1 player committed on U-18, two on U-17 because the program is stacked with Boston area players all going back to Boston.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||Who knows||
The Wings haven't gotten to a conference final since 2008. Another early exit and they could move on to Jeff Blashill.
Maybe Mike Babcock moves on to something new after coaching in the NHL for 12 years.
Or Babcock could win a championship and get a new deal.
More than anything, it's about timing.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||Pass judgement if you want||
Pass judgement if you want.
Me, you and the rest of the world would be hiding under our beds if our private conversations were recorded and made public.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||He never had the puck||
It went through his legs and behind him into the crease. He never covered it.
He played well, but not good enough for a playoff game. Those weren't soft goals, but you don't advance in the playoffs without a goalie who can make those saves.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||Terrible decision||
What a disaster going with Stalock. San Jose needed a win and Niemi should have been the guy.
|13 weeks 1 day ago||Maybe it's just me||
Plenty of reports have come out over the years pointing to rampant drug and steroid use in college sports because of minimal testing.
Am I the only one who finds it odd he was tested 9 times in the last two years?
|13 weeks 1 day ago||Unfortunately||
Unfortunately for Mitch, he tested before they reduced the penalty. After August 1st this year, a positive test is only a half season suspension.
|13 weeks 1 day ago||Corsi's flaw||
I like the idea of Corsi, but the flaw is that right now it's too broad.
The way it's measured is by what happens when you're on the ice, not by what specifically happens to you. It's the same reason +/- is in most cases a pointless stat.
For example: I'm on the wing on an offensive zone draw. My center loses the faceoff, they breakout, get a puck on net and my goalie freezes. My Corsi line for that shift is terrible and I didn't do anything.
Is Kyle Quincey better than DeKeyser? Torey Krug better than Chara? To anyone who has watched a game the answer is no. Corsi says yes.
|13 weeks 1 day ago||Yes and no||
In transition you can allow shots from the halfboards as long as the goalie isn't redirecting the puck at a forward driving the net. Those shots aren't going in.
In the defensive zone, you never want to allow shots on net. It doesn't matter where the shot comes from, if there's traffic in front a puck can go in from anywhere.
Mason's MSU teams are one of the few examples of a team who allowed 50 shots on goal as part of their gameplan. The Spartans were comfortable going into a 1-4 forecheck and keeping everything routine for Ryan Miller. In today's game, that won't work.
|13 weeks 2 days ago||Corsi is worthless||
I love Sabermetrics in baseball. Not in hockey.
Corsi is almost exclusively used by people trying to prove a player's worth without watching the games, or bloggers trying to justify why a bad player is good despite watching for 5 minutes and knowing said player is really bad.
|13 weeks 2 days ago||It's his own fault||
I agree, a lot of players do it.
That being said, he should have known the umpires would be keeping an eye on him after the last Sox game. For him to do it again in plain view, he should have been ejected.
|13 weeks 3 days ago||Six||
Six years left.
The silver lining is that the Wings have two years before his salary goes down, from 5 million to 3.5; 2 million for a year and 1 million for the final two.
The cap hit doesn't go down though, 3.9 million for the duration.
|13 weeks 3 days ago||It's worth noting||
I'm not an expert on Title IX, but if the Ducks were going to add varsity lacrosse, I don't believe they would have to add another Women's sport because Oregon has 7 Men's sports and 11 Womens.
Not a huge deal, but I'm sure avoiding an extra startup cost would be a plus if they ever decided to add the sport.
|13 weeks 3 days ago||Ouch||
It wasn't intentional, but knee-on-knee hits aren't pretty. It's never good to see that.
|13 weeks 4 days ago||Oregon||
IIRC the power programs around when Michigan was a club team were Chapman, Oregon and Arizona.
With Nike giving money to the althletic department and growing popularity on the west coast, I always thought that Oregon would be next to add a varsity team.
|14 weeks 17 hours ago||That's crap||
That's crap. You can't tell me the Lightning average 97% for 41 games and they're all opposing fans.
If that's all it was, then the Panthers and the Coyotes would sell seats too.
|14 weeks 17 hours ago||Yeah what a joke||
The Lightning only finished 10th in attendance this year, 8th last year.
What a terrible franchise.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||Wisconsin||
No program loses more than Wisconsin.
The Badgers graduated 3 defensemen and lost McCabe to the NHL.
At forward they lose Kerdiles, Barnes, Mersch and Zengerle. One player with more than 10 goals last season comes back.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||They lose a lot||
The Irish have a deep enough team to handle losing TJ Tynan, Bryan Rust and Jeff Costello.
It's a whole different story graduating 4 defensemen and their goalie.
If Robbie Russo doesn't come back next year they will only bring back two upperclassmen and two freshman with limited playing time on the blueline.
|14 weeks 3 days ago||Eh||
I'm optimistic, but Top 5 may be too high.
We have a solid group returning, incoming talent, sophomore Nagelvoort. We should have a forecheck for the first time in recent memory.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||Simplification||
Like I said in the last thread, give me 15 plays they can execute perfectly. Not 100 they don't know half of.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||I doubt he goes to Duke||
I doubt he transfers to Duke with Jahlil Okafor coming in next year.
|15 weeks 19 hours ago||That's the burglary charge||
DGB forcing himself into the apartment and committing a crime is burglary.
|15 weeks 21 hours ago||It wouldn't make sense||
John Beilein doesn't just hand out offers. They wouldn't offer a player who hasn't even been on campus.
|15 weeks 22 hours ago||NSFMF||
|15 weeks 22 hours ago||The story||
The story is that he forced himself into an apartment looking for his girlfriend and pushed a women down the stairs.
The police were going to charge him with assult and burglary, but the girl decided not to press charges.
|15 weeks 1 day ago||Bob Daniels||
Bob Daniels has been at Ferris for 20 years.
Both of the NTDP coaches will be getting calls from D-1 programs.
Danton Cole is the U-18 coach and his name is thrown around all of the time, but I don't know if Michigan has a shot at him. He turned down the MSU job when Comley left and it wouldn't surprise me if he took it if Anastos gets let go. The program is much better off now than it was 4 years ago.
Don Granato coaches U-17 and is under the radar to most hockey fans. His player development is outstanding and his team right now could be the best Under-17 team we have ever had.
|15 weeks 2 days ago||Much rather have the Pens||
MAF hasn't posted a SV% above .900 since 2008. Until he proves himself again in the playoffs it's the matchup you want.
|15 weeks 2 days ago||We need a replacement for Briggs||
He's 33 and doesn't have a replacement.
I think the Bears will go defensive line, but linebacker is still a position of need.
|15 weeks 2 days ago||Clowney||
I don't think Clowney is the right fit in Romeo Crennel's 3-4 system, but the Texans will make that pick anyway.
|15 weeks 2 days ago||There's this gem||
|15 weeks 2 days ago||He's at Rutgers||
Which shows they probably didn't do too much research towards the end considering Kyle Flood is 15-11 with two bowl losses, while Tim Beckman is 6-18 with two of his wins over D-II schools.
Darrell Hazell is 1-11 at Purdue with a 6 point win over D-II Indiana State, and he ranks above both of them.
|15 weeks 3 days ago||I don't buy Meyer at #2||
I don't see him at #2, but I also don't see anyone who I would put over him.
|15 weeks 4 days ago||Oh the injustice||
How dare they suspend him for breaking the same rule multiple times.
|15 weeks 6 days ago||High skill, high motor forward||
High skill, high motor forward. Strong work ethic and effort level. He's 5'6 but plays much bigger.
Lockwood went to NTDP camp last week with the the top 98's in the US and more than held his own.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||That was close||
That was really close, but I would say he's out.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||Oh man||
|16 weeks 2 days ago||Walked him||
Second walk of the inning. Bases loaded with 1 out.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||Yikes||
1st and 2nd in the 9th, Billy Butler up to bat.
|16 weeks 3 days ago||It was predictable||
It was predictable, but that doesn't mean it was simple.
Borges had them running multiple sets they never figured out. He had them running a dozen different formations out of shotgun, pistol, I-Form, the offset line and they didn't do any of them well.
|16 weeks 3 days ago||Keeping it simple||
I would rather see the offense run 10-12 plays that they can execute perfectly. Not a giant playbook that's too complicated to learn.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||GRIII is liability||
GRIII is liability on both sides of the floor tonight. Abused on defense, settling for long jumpers on offense.
|17 weeks 2 hours ago||Whatever||
Even if Morgan doesn't get the charge, Stokes dropped the ball. We get it either way.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||Not sure yet||
The years are all over the place right now. MLB sources are all split between 6, 7 and 8 years added on to his remaining 2 years.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||It's done||
The deal is done. Waiting for an official conformation from the team, but right now it sounds like the length is six years.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||Murphy is a talent||
Murphy gets knocked for playing in Junior B, but he went to the Owen Sound rookie camp last year and made the team. They've been trying to sign him for two years and he won't budge.
It will take time to adjust to the speed of the game, but he's going to be a solid player.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||An older thread||
The subject came up in an older thread here.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||There's a difference||
Ezeh wasn't good but it wasn't for lack of effort.
Guptill had the talent to be one of the best in college hockey, but short of being benched they couldn't motivate him. He would disappear for weeks at a time and look like he didn't care.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||Yep||
Charlotte Checkers and Texas Stars.
Guptill is the only Wolverine in the Texas organization.
Aaron Palushaj and Mike Komisarek are with the Carolina.
Luke Moffatt signed with Lake Erie with Matt Hunwick. Lee Moffie is on their ECHL team.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||Just bad timing||
It happens. No big deal.
|17 weeks 3 days ago||Eh||
Not a surprise. Between Tyler Motte, Dexter Dancs and Dylan Larkin, Michigan is going to be just fine at left wing.
|17 weeks 3 days ago||About that||
Apparently he just signed.
|17 weeks 3 days ago||Eh||
I would have liked to see him stay but they way Red recruited this year it was expected. What we have coming in at left wing next year will easily replace his production.
|17 weeks 4 days ago||You're forgetting his attrition||
Howland recruited good players, but he also brought in guys like Jerime Anderson, Drew Gordan, J'mison Morgan and Reeves Nelson who destroyed the program.
There were fights in practice, hazing, drug use and whatever else they wanted to do because Howland didn't stop them.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||We don't need a goalie||
We have Nagelvoort and Racine, both are 4 year players. Getting a quality goalie to commit and sit on the bench for a few years isn't going to happen.
Hayden Lavigne is our only goalie commit, for 2015.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||I think he's exaggerating||
I don't think many people are getting rejected from U-of-I with that score, considering that a 34 will get you into University of Chicago.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||Sure||
Our 2014 class
Dylan Larkin: NTDP power forward with above average offensive skills. Good hands, great skater. Projected 1st round pick.
Connor Murphy: Elite playmaking center. Made the roster for the OHL's Owen Sound Attack at 16, stayed in Junior B to pursue college. 32-64--96 scoring line; Player of the Year. Projected mid round pick.
Dexter Dancs: 6'2, 200lb power wing with playmaking skills and high offensive upside. Excellent skater, soft hands, plays hard in front of the net. 7th in BCHL scoring.
Tony Calderone: 6'0, 210lb wing. Dominant net front presence. 52 goals in two years in the USHL.
Alex Talcott: Punishing forechecker, defensive forward.
Sam Piazza: Left defensemen. Former Boston College commit and potential top pair blueliner before a concussion two years ago. Great vision and skating. High upside.
Cutler Martin: Left defensemen. Big hitter. Injured in December and hasn't played since.
|17 weeks 6 days ago||It's what's best for the program||
We return almost the entire team and bring in a huge class.
Next year can be a Top-5 team.
|17 weeks 6 days ago||At least another year||
He's not stepping down. Red will coach next year.
|17 weeks 6 days ago||Embed||
|17 weeks 6 days ago||It won't be like that||
Red only has 2 years left on his contract. When he signed it, he said that this would be his last one.
|17 weeks 6 days ago||Offseason should be mild||
Besides having an offseason of Berenson speculation and the usual departure, we have a 7 player class coming in that should remain intact.
|18 weeks 2 hours ago||Gone but not forgotten||
|18 weeks 14 hours ago||You don't have to||
This isn't like Rick Comley at Michigan State, who tanked the program because he quit in his head but kept coaching.
Red Berenson doesn't get fired. He has always said that when he feels like he's not the right guy for the program, he will leave.
He has two years left on his contract and there's no indication that he won't finish it.
|18 weeks 16 hours ago||We're pretty much done||
Miami is going to win, so the NCHC autobid is going to a team outside the top-16.
The cut line is 14 now.
|18 weeks 17 hours ago||Try the bar locator|
|18 weeks 19 hours ago||You're forgetting a game||
Michigan is only a few percentage points above Northeastern and the NCHC games are still going on.
I'm willing to bet if Western Michigan loses to Denver, we will go back to 16th. North Dakota still has to win tonight and in the NCHC championship game.
Edit: WMU lost, but 15th holds. Still need Miami to lose.
|18 weeks 23 hours ago||He was too small||
He dominated AAA, played average in the OJHL and poorly in the USHL. At 5'8, 160 he couldn't handle playing against bigger players so they asked him to reclassify.
I wouldn't even give the OHL credit for taking him, Michigan pretty much asked him to go.
|18 weeks 1 day ago||You're way off||
What players are you talking about? The OHL hasn't come anywhere near us in the last 5 years.
We lost Gibson and Cambell and got 2 and a half years of Shawn Hunwick instead.
Connor Carrick played 1 year in Plymouth. Cianfrone couldn't compete in the USHL and Milne couldn't get off our bench. Walsh wouldn't have came until next year.
We have a top-5 recruiting class coming in next year. We have a top-5 recruting class coming in 2015. All 3 of our 2016 recruits are at the NTDP camp.
What other recruits are they taking from us?
|18 weeks 1 day ago||We're out||
Maybe I'm wrong, but we're at 16th right now.
Even without an upset, Atlantic Hockey doesn't have an at-large team so their conference winner will bump us.
|18 weeks 1 day ago||Worst game ever||
Just hit the net. Jeeze.
|18 weeks 1 day ago||Goal?||
Well we scored. That's good.
|18 weeks 1 day ago||This is a joke||
They have to win this game, and this is how they come out. On pace for 30+ neutral and defensive zone turnovers, with 5 quality scoring chances?
|18 weeks 2 days ago||Not a good start||
Not really many scoring chances for either team, but Michigan has no zone time. Everything they're doing is transition.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||It wasn't the violation||
The violation was minor, he made it major by lying to the NCAA and encouraging others to do the same.
He had a terrible incident early in the season when 4 his players got caught with weed and some guns, so he was already on thin ice. After the Craft thing they dug around the program and found drug test violations, he was gone.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||It's college basketball||
As a head coach Bruce Pearl only got caught once. There are plenty of coaches who get caught cheating at every stop they make and still get hired somewhere else.
AAU basketball has turned the sport into a world of street agents and dirty coaches. That's college basketball.

|18 weeks 5 days ago||Rick Barnes||
The talent level is significantly lower at Texas than in past years but even with a roster full of 1st round picks and All-Americans, Rick Barnes Texas teams almost always underachieve.
|18 weeks 5 days ago||No postseason||
Crean declines a bid to the CBI. The season is over for Indiana.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||They started 6-8-2||
It was an up and down year. They got close to .500 a few times, but couldn't get over the hump.
The sad part is that MTU hasn't been .500 since the first few games of last year. Two full seasons for Tech with a losing record almost the entire way through.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||In less happy news||
Michigan Tech loses 5-2 to Bowling Green. They finish under .500 for the 7th year in a row.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||For right now||
There are still quite a few games left, but for now that win pushed us up to 12th,
|18 weeks 6 days ago||Janecyk in||
1:32 left, Janecyk in.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||9 minutes left||
If this score holds, I expect Janecyk to get in around 2 minutes.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||GOAL||
Copp scores shorthanded on the breakaway. 6-1.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||GOAL||
Hyman scores. 4-0 game.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||GOAL||
Blown coverage, Moffatt goes high from the faceoff circle. 3-0
|18 weeks 6 days ago||Need to clean it up||
They need to clean it up. Nagelvoort can't make saves like that all night.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||Hard to believe||
As frustrating as Guptill has been, he's 6 points away from 100 in his career.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||Wow||
That was a rip. 1-0.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||No zone time||
5 minutes in, Michigan can't get any zone time. Everything they're doing is transition.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||For Minnesota||
They're sitting Sam Warning, Jake Bischoff and Adam Wilcox.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||A rumor||
No conformation yet, but the word is that Shibrowski is starting in net for Minnesota.
|19 weeks 1 hour ago||Aww yeah||
|19 weeks 14 hours ago||Ole Miss is out||
The NCAA tournament will be so much better this year because Marshall Henderson isn't in it.
|19 weeks 23 hours ago||I wouldn't be surprised||
Mike Woodson went 72-34 his first two seasons, but this season the Knicks front office put together a joke of a roster and made him the fall guy.
If Woodson gets fired or leaves, I wouldn't be surprised either way.
|19 weeks 2 days ago||I get the outrage||
But suing the team for 10,000 dollars seems a little over the top. Good luck with that.
|19 weeks 2 days ago||Voluntary vs career ending||
It would be considered a voluntary retirement because a ligament tear or a broken bone isn't career ending.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||I don't think so||
In the CBA it says a team doesn't have to pay a player if the retirement is voluntary. Kobe would have to suffer a career ending injury and retire to get his money.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||He won't retire||
There's no chance Kobe retires, not after he signed a 50 million dollar extension in November.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||It's 7-0||
We haven't lost two in a row this season.
After losses this season we have wins over Long Beach State, Houston Baptist, Coppin State, Stanford, Nebraska, Ohio State and Michigan State.
|19 weeks 4 days ago||I hope not||
Hopefully they learned from the Millen era. The Lions have holes in their roster, wide receiver isn't at the top of the list.
|19 weeks 5 days ago||Yep||
The score was 67-65 with 4:31 left; MSU had 3 turnovers and scored 0 points to finish the game. I don't want to hear anything about officiating from Tom Izzo.

|19 weeks 6 days ago||Well||
I remember my first beer.
|19 weeks 6 days ago||Complete collapse||
Unless we can beat Minnesota, kiss our at-large bid goodbye.
|19 weeks 6 days ago||Pathetic||
The 54th ranked offense has 4 goals. What a joke.
