I agree with your points above and I think I understand what you're getting at. I guess the major differentiation between your viewpoint and mine is re: the difficulty of qualifying. I've always assumed that qualifying for college (for an athlete) is pretty much the same as qualifying for driving/smoking/drinking. If it is actually a challenge for most athletes to obtain qualifying test scores, then I'm at fault here. But with the ACT/SAT scores posted on Rivals/Scout, I don't think I'm far off base saying that qualifying for college isn't exactly a huge hurdle. I see a lot of SAT scores are sub-1000; I scored higher in 7th grade. I just can't grasp that qualifying can be remotely difficult. Again if I'm wrong here, I apologize.

It's not like he's chopped liver. He's a 4*, 6.0 DE on Rivals, 3rd best JUCO prospect in the nation. I don't know if Rivals ranks JUCOs on a different scale than HS kids, but the only 6.0 kid we have thus far is Turner.

Also, our team ranking went up 130 points when we got Lewan (4*, 5.8). That means (if the JUCO and HS scales are similar) getting McPhee will put us up two spots minimum, past UNC/Bama, to #5 nationally. Getting Will to recommit would get us past Texas at #4, maybe past OSU at #3.

I have a gut feeling transferring JUCO credits will be problematic and he stays down south, though.

One thing, your height/weight and especially 40-times are going to be inaccurate. Senior high school OL lineman do not run 4.6 40s unless they're running from a catholic priest from ND.

I was wondering the same thing a while back, but I think he entered to 250 a few weeks ago based on the season he was having. His production post-inclusion tapered off a bit so I don't really see a catalyst for more upside, even though his overall numbers are nuts.

With respect to the ranking of a prospect, Sam Webb has (at least once) said something along the lines of "I think Rivals is a better gauge than Scout". I know he said that about Vlad Emilien (Rivals 4* vs. Scout 3*)
