I think he has to at least stick around until he's re-built that program and had some success at PSU...Can't see the NFL hiring a coach whose been having 6-6 seasons at the college level. |

Seeing as how most of the people that the sanctions would want to punish have either passed away, are in jail or aren't affliated with the program anymore, I'm not mad that O'Brien is doing (relatively) well down there |
| 2 weeks 1 day ago | Underrating Fitz?? |
I'm really excited about Green, but I don't see how Fitz doesn't start...He had a bad year and the injury, but he's already proven that he can perform at an All Big Ten-ish level given an adequate run blocking O-Line, and right now, he's the only UM back that can say that. |
| 2 weeks 5 days ago | Because it sounds like you |
Because it sounds like you are assuming that he was forced out, which none of us have a clue of. No one on this board even %100 knows he's even transferring yet. But IF he is, it could just as easily be; 1. He didn't think he would get playing time coming off an injury and being behind so many guys who played this year. 2. He wanted to be closer to/play with his brother 3. UM was not working out for him for some non-football reason. Until Hoke shows some sign of being "That guy" that would usher a player out the door, I'm more inclined to believe everything's legit here. |

The Milwaukee Alumni Association volunteered with the Urban Ecology Center, Link to website, doing some park clean-up. They do community education programs about the environment/nature/conservation and are also building an arboretum in Milwaukee now, definitely good times, Go Blue!! |

Love the video! Definitely the best one I've seen so far.... On a kind of related topic, am I the only one that doesn't really like calling the BBall team by the "Team 9X" monikers? 1. It seems to be more of a football thing 2. The numbers themselves, When you say "Team 96" I think of the Taylor/Traylor duo on the 1996 team before I figure out you're talking about the Burke/THJ/Big Puppy Final Four (!!!) squad of this year |

Hopefully. However, IF they can get picked in the lottery (GR3 is projected around there now) based on nothing more than potential, then I have no problem with that decision. If they're outside of the lottery though, guys give it another run with Irvin/Walton/Donnal and then go in the lottery next year!!

| 5 weeks 5 days ago | I saw the same thing, my |
I saw the same thing, my guess is that it's his quarterback...i.e. he makes the basket catch on his body so often because the pass is short, and the ball is already so low. |

I know he has a role, but he cannot pass up open lay-ups, Spike, go ahead and get your 2 points!! |
| 9 weeks 5 days ago | Selling out to stop Wolters |
Selling out to stop Wolters probably involves playing Caris Levert a lot more, which takes us out of our normal game....Being the more talented team, you play your game unless/until you see that will unequivocally not work. |
| 9 weeks 5 days ago | I think it's dangerous |
I think it's dangerous expecting a 6'0 Burke to make up 4 inches and get several blocks on a 6'4" Wolters...I think we win, with Wolters and Burke gunning it out, with the difference being the supporting cast of UM being a lot better than SDSt. I really want to see the pre-conference GR3 make an appearance here. |
| 9 weeks 5 days ago | Scared of Kansas. Mostly |
Scared of Kansas. Mostly because of Withey, won't be fun facing a 7 ft. center that we can't handle on D and is a good shot blocker on those Burke forays to the hoop |
| 10 weeks 1 day ago | No expertise here at all, but |
No expertise here at all, but I would guess they're more conservative with OL in general since any injury has to bear more weight and OL's legs get rolled up on more frequently |
| 10 weeks 2 days ago | Derrick Walton will not be |
Derrick Walton will not be Trey Burke, but I have hope we will be as good next year because: 1. Burke has already proven a freshman PG can come in and run Beilein's system well 2. Walton seems to be that talented a PG, and Spike should be a steady influence while Walton learns, and Zak Irvin seems like a ready made scorer. 3. Players usually improve the most from freshman to sphomore years, so I'm expecting at least 1 or 2 big leaps from the McGary/GR3/Levert/The Canadien quartet. That said, this is the part of the year I've been waiting for since November, watching Burke destroy fools in the NCAA/BTT!! |
| 10 weeks 5 days ago | Yeah I think I just got lucky |
Yeah I think I just got lucky that 1. Wiscy fans may be the nicest fans I've seen 2. Football crowds in general are just more douche-prone than other sports. (by the way, I LOVE football, just stating an observation)
|
| 10 weeks 5 days ago | Still not sure.....I just |
Still not sure.....I just remember the entire student section rushing the court around me, and I'm stuck standing there alone in this empty section, hoping I don't end up on ESPN. The crowd itself was craziness. I got booed/taunted a couple of times, I went right back at them whenever Burke or THJ hit a big shot, and we all laughed at it. To me that's half the fun of going to Away games (the other half, actually winning, was sorely missed this time around) . |
| 10 weeks 5 days ago | I actually sat in the |
I actually sat in the Wisconsin student section this year wearing UM gear (went with a friend who is a Badger) and I didn't/wouldn't expect to have been kicked out. I can tell you I definitely would not have put on Badger colors to watch the game, and if they kicked me out, I would be pissed. Anyone know what the attitude/policy is at other B1G schools regarding student sections?? |
| 10 weeks 5 days ago | Wow, I get the loss is still |
Wow, I get the loss is still fresh, but surprised by all the negativity. Yes we have to hit those easy ones, Yes we have to hit free throws. It wasn't all bad though. The defensive intensity/effort they had today actually makes me feel better about our tourney (the conference and the real one) chances. As far as the bracket, we get a chance to avenge the 3 most painful losses (in my opinion) of the year, so Let's Go Blue!!!
|
| 10 weeks 5 days ago | Good feelings |
Tough loss to take, but UM showed me 2 things today that I really like 1. They showed an aggressiveness (as a team, not just 1 or 2 players) that I hadn't seen since we were 20-1. There was more attacking and less standing around, waiting for someone else to do something. 2. A defensive intensity that I hadn't seen on a team-wide level at all this year. Others may disagree, but this game actually gave me more confidence for our NCAA Tournament chances. |

| 11 weeks 3 days ago | Maybe, but if that happens, |
Maybe, but if that happens, and he looks good enough to go early, chances are that: 1. The Team has had a great season AND 2. The talent around him as stepped up to such a degree to make him look good, that we would be able to continue some semblance of that success after he leaves So I'll take that trade-off everytime. |
| 11 weeks 5 days ago | I get what you're saying, |
I get what you're saying, but as stated by others, it's been around a while and it's purpose is more to get you in the right defensive mindset, not to show up anyone, every now and then it becomes a "thing" that announcers/media/whoever like to focus on, but it's really nothing to get worked up about. |
| 11 weeks 5 days ago | Great Win!!! |
0/12 from 3, and still beat a Top 10 team, Incredibly ugly, but I'll take it!!
|
| 12 weeks 5 days ago | Defense!! |
Our perimeter D was pretty good and a lot more active than usual. Brandon Paul had like 10 pts in the 1st half and none (NONE?!?) in the 2nd. The last 20 minutes, I was deciding whether our perimeter defense had stepped up that much or whether Brandon Pul had just lost interest in the game, good times... |
| 13 weeks 3 days ago | Yeah, but you want to keep |
Yeah, but you want to keep your running backs fresh, and if you have another back perfect for a certain situation it's a good chance to get that starter some rest and cut down on the pounding he takes |

69 - 62 UM wins, we still don't feel out of the woods yet |
| 13 weeks 4 days ago | Lack of aggressiveness |
No one is saying foul just to foul, but it may be a sign of a lack of aggressiveness....It seems like UM's D is always reacting where the OSU/MSU D is actively trying to deny and force you to do something different than what you want. |

| 14 weeks 4 days ago | The combo of Burke/Hardaway |
The combo of Burke/Hardaway and Stauskas all being able to either shoot from deep or drive makes this whole system work...even when the play doesn't work, the step back jumper from any of the 3 is a thing of Beauty I think we get bogged down when the off-the ball action (those GRIII cuts to the basket, etc) isn't working because that's when the entire defense can focus a lot more on the ball handler and flood the zone so to speak. |

That was my point, as long as we keep winning, being ranked #1 doesn't mean much...not sure why people would downvote that. |
| 15 weeks 1 day ago | Don't. Want. |
I don't even want to be ranked No. 1 with this craziness. Love that this makes a B1G (regular season) title a little easier though!!! |
| 15 weeks 4 days ago | Always #1 |
playing a #8/9 and a #4 is a big advantage over playing a #7 and a #3 Better to be a #1, not so much for the 1st round game, but more because of the 2nd and especially the 3rd round game, especially because there always seems to be a big drop in quality from the average 3 seed to the average 4 seed. This year teams like Syracuse/Louisville/MSU are 3 seeds, while Butler/Cincinnati/New Mexico are projected as 4s right now |
| 15 weeks 6 days ago | Heresy!! |
This is gravely erroneous, there are no bad zombie movies. |
| 16 weeks 2 days ago | Normally this could work, but |
Normally this could work, but 3 pt. shooting destroys most zones, and well...we're shooting 40% right now, the worst percentage form anyone who actually plays more than 8 min/game shoots 37% (Burke) I really, really love this team |
| 16 weeks 2 days ago | 1. I think we learn from the |
1. I think we learn from the OSU game, and IF Burke is slowed down, we adjust a lot quicker this time, and they're crazy if they don't put Oladipo on Burke 2. Morgan's loss hurts, but I believe Jon Horford has stepped up in a big way and the Horford-McGary combo (HorGary??) can handle Zeller down low (they won't shut him down, but they can limit him enough to win this game) I'm thinking close game all the way through but Blue by 5 at the end |

Love this kid!! (a little biased since he went to my high school) Morgan gets overlooked because a lot of stuff he does will never show up in the stat sheet. In additional to the rebounding he gives us, his post defense is excellent (if The Illini had a good post on offense, that could have been trouble) and even on offense, I really think Hardaway/Burke/Stauskas, etc come off Morgan's screens more open than when any other big sets that screen...So many contributors, I cannot wait for the Tourney this year!!!! |

I think I may have underrated Iowa, they look like a tournament team so far... I've been down on Iowa all year (even their close loss against IU, I put on IU playing bad, not Iowa being, you know, good) but their defense l Basabe/Woodbury/Clemens trio could do damage |
| 19 weeks 6 days ago | 15 minutes |
This game would scare me if it was @Iowa, but at an increasingly loud Crisler and with the killer attitude we showed against Northwestern...I don't think it's competitive after about 15 minutes in |

Wow, surprised by all the hate, I must be 14, because this is kind of funny to me...The best UM candidate to pull off something like this has to be Jake Ryan, or maybe a Stauskas shooter meme "The mounties made Nik Stauskas leave Canada because his hot streak was melting The Rockies" |

So he's either a big corner that can run with receivers and hold up against the run OR A ball hawk of a safety that can get interceptions all over the field and come up and deliver a blow...I think I like him |
| 23 weeks 3 days ago | Maybe |
It's very possible that if Morris stayed, he develops more, the UM team has even more success than they did, he gets drafted in a better situation and everyone is happy Other possibilities if he comes back- - a very similar Morris comes back but then this Burke guy starts shining, and the question becomes "He might not be the best PG on his own team, why am I taking Morris in the 1st round?" -A similar Morris does essentially the same and he gets drafted later/undrafted only because he's older (and therefore less of the potential that GMs love) - He gets injured, everyone has a sad face - Some of his weaknesses get more exposed and his stock falls I'm not saying he made the perfect decision, I'm saying either decision (NBA draft or coming back) had advantages and risks, he took one. He didn't make a bad decision, he made a very defensible one that gave him his dream. So far, it hasn't worked out for him...but just because things MAY have been better otherwise, that doesn't make him wrong, evil, stupid or anything else (I know you aren't making all of those arguments, but they do get made) |
| 23 weeks 3 days ago | 75-68 |
UM 75 - 68 WVU |
| 23 weeks 3 days ago | Not his last chance |
To your main point, it's not looking very promising right now. Morris was always the type that needs the ball in his hands to be effective, he either can't handle doing that at an NBA level or isn't given the chance on a team with Kobe and other ball dominators I don't think this is his last chance in the NBA though |
| 23 weeks 3 days ago | If he hasn't improved enough |
If he hasn't improved enough with NBA coaching/resources, then there's definitely no guarantee he would have made that improvement with another year at UM, I don't think his draft decision really is important here |

| 24 weeks 4 days ago | D "Mr. Right" Morris |
I would say Darius Morris, an NBA talent choosing M combined with the team/Tournament success he led, gave us some needed legitimacy in the eyes of the recruits we're getting now. I wouldn't be mad at Novak though (leadership, gave us a leg up in the Mitch/Spike, GR3 relationships) |
| 24 weeks 5 days ago | OT: Chris Rock |
Whatever happened to Chris Rock?? Seems like he disappeared before he even had a chance to do anything. Injury? Playing Time? |
| 25 weeks 2 days ago | Dymonte Thomas - Safety |
Dymonte Thomas - Safety depth looks scary without him. He has to stay in the secondary and I think he plays a lot this year. Wyatt Shallman - I think he eventually moves to defense, but not this year. Jourdan Lewis/Stribling - Possible one of them moves to offense, especially Lewis, who just got named All State at WR by the Detroit News. But I think at least one of Darboh and Chesson can break out and be our outside receiver, allowing Gallon to move to the slot and with Dileo, hopefully solidifying an average-ish receiving corps. But yeah, our RB situation scares me next year if Fitz is not %100. Maybe we do more 4-5 receiver sets (with Justice Hayes and/or Norfleet split out) and and air it out more. Passing the ball to Hayes/Norfleet in space sounds like it could work. |

Good work here, but I do have 2 suggestions 1. Put heights in 6'1" form and not 73 in...for me, its just more easily readable and more natural 2. Add a table/column where the average of all Big Ten teams is right next to the Mich numbers (and yes I could do the math in my head, but again, it's a lot more easily understandable and accessible if you just add the extra info in the post) Good job and great idea! |

I think you're right on, there's no point in giving out scholarships at FB and recruiting people like Houma UNLESS you're gong to give them the ball a couple of times...o/w it seems you could just grab the running back who put on too much weight or a linebacker type who's not working out on D |

For the most part it's just practice for recent draft picks and young players (like Darius) to get some practice and extra games in But in general, there's probably about 3-4 players per team (mostly undrafted players or D League/International players trying to break through) where this is their shot to impress whoever may be watching and get a contract. |

Agree to disagree here, The Lakers biggest problem has always been that as great as he is, Kobe always wants the ball in his hands, even when it should be moving around...now that Nash will be the primary ball handler (and more importantly, Kobe won't be the primary ball handler), the Laker offense will be more dynamic and impossible to stop..a ring isn't guaranteed, but I wouldn't be surprised |
| 46 weeks 2 days ago | Beaten to the Punch |
Looks like I got MGOscooped on the Nash news, Mods feel free to Delete |
| 46 weeks 2 days ago | To add a Wolverine bias on |
To add a Wolverine bias on it, Darius Morris probably won't be getting any more PT next year than he did last...Nash has always played a LOT of minutes, and Steve Blake is probably still comfortably ahead of DMo on the depth chart. As a learning experience, playing with Steve Nash can't be beat though (and he might get a ring or 2 in the process) |

I was sure Northwestern was going to be Brian... they were right on with the Peter/Lois, OSU/UM comparison though |
| 49 weeks 1 day ago | Clemson |
Good luck young man, best of luck and may UM never have to face you... I will never figure out why so many elite recruits still choose Clemson I get the pull of schools like USC, Oregon, SEC, FSU, Alabama, etc, (some combo of weather, tradition, winning, NFL pedigree) but Clemson??? |
| 49 weeks 2 days ago | Lewis at WR |
I had'nt heard of any real possibility of Lewis playing offense at the college level; 1. This makes me even more excited for him as a cornerback, knowing that he has at least comparable speed, ball awareness and jump ability to compete with the receivers he's up against 2. Even if he primarily plays defense, it seems that Lewis could find playing time for a few snaps at WR and stretch the defense with his speed....especially if we find ourselves thin at WR and we stay as strong at corner as it seems we will be Thanks for the info Ace!! |
| 50 weeks 1 day ago | Pretty Ricky |
I expect Ricky Barnum and the rest of the Oline to be severely tested with MSU blitzes up the middle, but I think we come out on top....I'm tired of my Spartan family members hanging football over me, I really really want this win, Lets Go Blue!! |
| 50 weeks 6 days ago | Could be wrong |
I could be wrong, but prety sure there is no such thing as a 2-tech, so it's either; 1. Just a typo as above poster said OR 2. Referring to the fact that he may end up at either NT (1-tech, where Will Campbell/Pipkens will play) or DT (3-Tech, where Jibreel Black currently is) |
| 51 weeks 18 hours ago | Cool Story Bro.... I love |
Cool Story Bro.... I love this kid, forget "Make us proud one day," Denard has already made me proud as a UM fan, but I have no doubt that he will continue to do so as a senior and as a Michigan Man after his college career |
| 51 weeks 2 days ago | I will never question |
I will never question the riduculousness of soccer celebrations again, they were taking out the Agent Smith's, the T-Rex's, the baby seals(??) of this world... It all makes so much sense now, they were all fighting the forces of evil, making the world a safer place for me, no verily, I say For us All |
| 1 year 1 week ago | Lucky for us |
He definitely will make some noise in the NBA, but (and lucky for us) he needs the college experience to prove that to NBA GMs who have fallen in love with 6'8" athletes who have great "length" and "upside" yet no actual basketball skill EDIT: Sorry, This was supposed to be in reply to the PG comment above |

should be noted that John Simon diidn't play much in the spring game and he's gonna be Huge for them this fall, I think they pretty much did what we did with Denard i.e. "We know you're a beast, so let's see what everyone else can do" |

| 1 year 5 weeks ago | Brian |
Just curious, since you raised so much more than the Goal, Does this mean; 1. You're funded for the next 2-2 1/2 years 2. This year's edition will be even nicer/bigger 3. Improvements for MGOBlog OR 4. This goes into Brian's account to one day catch one of those $20 million flights to space
Regardless, well deserved, Cant wait for the magazine!!!! |
| 1 year 5 weeks ago | Psychic |
I think what Ace is saying here is that Brian should predict Roundtree getting 1000 yds receiving, Fitz 1500 yds rushing, Darboh having an outstanding freshman campaign with 700 yds and all of Hemingway's jumpball TDs, and All American honors for Taylor Lewan |
| 1 year 5 weeks ago | Very true, only said Davis |
Very true, only said Davis cause he seems to be the only can't miss pick this year, I wouldn't mind maybe if we pick up a Kidd-Gilchrist/Barnes type player on the wing to go with the Knight/Stuckey/Monroe core, Thomas Robinson is another player on my Dream-It-But-It's-Never-Gonna-Happen-List
|
| 1 year 5 weeks ago | Jimmys and Joes?? |
"Jimmys and Joes" really sounds like something Dick Vitale or Craig Sager would say, not sur eif that's good or bad....though I agree with everything you said, may Karma go The Pistons way and we end up with Anthony Davis |
| 1 year 5 weeks ago | Huh??? |
You realize the offense actually scrored more pts per game (33.3 vs. 32.8) last year than they did the year before. You know, points, those things really do come in handy if you want to do things like win games and such /really hoping there was some sarcasm in there that i'm missing |

| 1 year 6 weeks ago | Barnum can't be expected to |
Barnum can't be expected to be as good as Molk, but I think we can rest assured he will be consistently good and at times excellent, this OLine is going to be a STRENGTH of this team (just not very deep) |
| 1 year 6 weeks ago | Trey at the 2??? |
Going to throw this out there 1. Trey is more of a scorer ball dominating PG 2. Spike is purely a distributor Granted we would be incredubliy small in the backcourt (which could be mitigated by our frontcourt size) would be possible to see Trey Burke out there as a 2-guard playing off the ball to get him some easier looks?? You couldn't do this for more than 5-10 minutes a game, but having another ball handler and Trey possibly getting the ball with more space to work would be ridiculous |

The Force is strong, learned well, they have...I swear Hoke has put out a Darth Vader like shield and coached every player how to answer questions without revealing too much actual info/insight For good and for bad I guess, a lot more repetitive, but you can bet there won't be too much bulletin board material for other teams |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Losing Burke would be a |
Losing Burke would be a Huge hit, but the extra production from GRIII, McGary, Stauskas and Amadeo/random PG recruit probably balances out to equal something smilar to the team this year, 13-5 ish Conference record, and about 22 wins overall (though with IU, MSU Wiscy and OSU, 13-5 probably does not geta B1G title, shared or otherwise) |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Burke |
Trey Burke we need You!! That is all, Next year's team will not regress, but we can take a Huge step forward if he comes back |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Hindsight |
True, looking back, it was a big waste...but remember this was Pre-Beast Mode Fitz, and we were still looking for someone to step up at RB, so we took a shot with Rawls, I wonder if we see him split more carries with Fitz this year just to get him on the field as often as possible |

| 1 year 8 weeks ago | More stunts and blitzes |
Good to hear the growth in both of them (literally and figuratively). I'm not as down/worried about the Dline mostly because, the talent is there, along with the coaching and the willigness to work... As Will sort of touched on, it'll be a different DLine, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot more stunts and blitzes and use the confusion combined with the speed of Jibreel/Roh/Beyer/Clark to get into the backfield |
| 1 year 8 weeks ago | 3 Things |
3 Things I think I think (yup, I just went Peter King style); 1. We won't recover as big a percentage of fumbles 2. The defense will blitz more and will make a lot more big plays (INTs and fumbles) but also probably give up a bit more big plays 3. Denard will not throw as many interceptions because of familiatiry w/ offense and improved accuracy Add all of these up, and the TO numbers regress to the mean, but I still think we do well overall and finish somewhere around 10-3 against a much tougher schedule |
| 1 year 8 weeks ago | Year of the 'Tree |
I really think Roy is going to have a big year and be one of the top B1G receivers, He just has the skills to be a good go-to option, even if Devin may get more targets in the red zone, Roundtree will probably lead the team in catches and receiving yards Also, like the Kovacs mention of Big Will leading the Dline meetings and looking good, I'm confident that whatever problems we may have post-RVB/Martin/Heininger, it won't be for lack of effort by anyone |
| 1 year 9 weeks ago | Disagree |
This is like saying a guy shouldn't be scared his girlfriend still wants to date other guys,, it's letting you know they aren't as committed as they're teling you ...Coaches (remeber Hoke does this too) are only really saying that If you are committed to Us, Act accordingly. We keep forgetting that at the time, WE were the ones trying to POACH Dunn from OSU |
| 1 year 9 weeks ago | I love Gardner at Receiver |
I love Gardner at Receiver right now, but he will be the best non-Denard option at QB during this time, and I think that's the coach's plan too. Shane will be a Great QB, but expecting him to come in and perform better than an experienced Gardner, who was just as highly rated at QB, is not realistic. Not to mention that at that time, we'll have Jehu and Amara, Senior Gallon, Jerald Robinson and the elite receiver recruits we seem on track to get this year, so we won't need Devin at WR as much |
| 1 year 9 weeks ago | Just to clear it up, His |
Just to clear it up, His sentence is NOT 8 years. He hasn't even been tried yet, much less convicted. 8 years is the maximum that he could get, in most crime convictions, the actual penalty is much less than the maximum allowed. I'm sure the lawyers who peruse this site have more insight than i do, but i wouldn't be surprised to see this setled out of court and him get probation, in addition to whatever NIU does to him |
| 1 year 9 weeks ago | Devin still Back-up QB |
Just want to point out Borges answered the Devin Gardner debate from a previous thread, not an exact quote, but states point blank that Devin Gardner is still the back up QB. From his best 11 on the field comments, until and unless the freshman WRs come out blazing, I'm guessing we see Devin Gardner on the field a lot as a WR, but if Denard gets dinged up, it's Devin Gardner then Bellomy

Congratulations on a University of Michgan Degree, I'm sure you will represent the school well!! Still surprised he didn't enroll in a Grad program and continue to play, epecially at a position of such need, even if he wasn't expected to start, there's so much contact at OL, that there's no way he wouldn't see time this season |
| 1 year 10 weeks ago | Pessimistically Optimistic |
This game truly scaes me. I know we're better than Ohio, but if we don't come out with energy (i.e. Iowa and Minnesota games) or Morgan goes all "Bad Jordan Morgan, Bad" on us and can't stay on the floor, it could be a long day |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Easier draw for us |
Right now, I think we're probably the "worst" 3 seed (as far as what people are projecting, not what I actually think), Gtown probably still has a 3 seed but them losing might give us an easier bracket, i.e. we'll still be a 3 seed, just have an easier easier draw than some of the other 3 seeds |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Long Term Plan |
Favorite thing about this class is that it's revealing A LOT about Hoke/Borges/Mattison want to do long term (big lineman, tight end heavy, taller receivers, hard hitting quick LBs, etc) |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Thanks |
Appreciate the answer, like I said, I'm not really a follower of lacrosse in general, so am not sure what to expect this season |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Not at All |
For D-Mo, having an NBA contract, it doesn't impact his pay at all, he's payed whatever his contract says...for players signed directly by a D-League team, then their pay is probably horrible (something similar to what MLB Minor League players make) |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Yeah, but if you're Morris, |
Yeah, but if you're Morris, do you really put off a 6/7 figure salary now, and hope that you don't get injured in the next 2 years. I see your argument, but it's really hard to turn down that money when you don't even know what the draft, the rookie payscale, your draft stock, etc is going to look like 2 years from now This is the career he wanted, and he jumped into it the 1st chance he got, I can't really criticize the kid for it |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Expectations |
Looking at the 1-5 record, Is this what was kind of expected from the 1st Year Varsity squad?? I know we kind of dominated the club level, so was a more .500 type season expected? |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Sucks for him, and him on |
Sucks for him, and him on this team COULD (you never know how everyone would have meshed) have been epic...but I still think he made the right decision, going to the league in a weak draft instead of waiting for this year when the draft will be more stacked. He'll contribute to an NBA team eventually, as soon as he develops a Left Hand |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Way to go |
Congratulations Titans!! Hope I do not see you on our side of the bracket |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Maybe |
Possibly, Valpo (the favorite in this game) was a 14 seed in the ESPN bracket, I would actually be scared of this team with McCallum and Simon being quick and strong enough to give our backcourt some trouble |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | McCallum |
Did we ever have a chance/attempt to get Ray Jr. to go Blue, just curious...That family connection wold have been about impossible to break though |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | I get it, but |
I get the Braylon hate, but the guy is just looking out for his brother. Braylon didn't handle this the right way, but we don't have to crucify him for it (I'm a tad bit biased because I see those TD catches against MSU everytime I hear his name) |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Stauskas and GR3 |
I wouldn't expect either to be the defender Stu is immediately...but 6'6" and 6'7" along with the long arms and athleticism (GRIII) and strength (Stauskas) has me thinking they can be at least adequate defenders immediately |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Options |
I see what you're saying, but the offense wouldn't even be changing...When Morgan sets the pick and rolls, I'm pretty sure he has an OPTION of whether to roll to the rim or pop out for a jumper If McGary can knock down the jumper, Beilein has shown at WVU he doesn't care about Big man shooting jumpshots and that puts more pressures on a Defense tha has no clue what to defend on the pick and roll |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Take the slap and Move On |
Yes Chatsports sucks, but that doesn't change the NCAA bylaw, I would doubt that the NCAA allows it (no knowledge, just guessing), o/w schools would probably have players doing a lot more of these type of social media/PR/Recruiting type stuff... That said, IF it is at all, it's probably a very minor violation, the players will probably all have to take a class about the rules in this situation and we should move on |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Doesn't Matter |
Don't think it matters where this kid plays, he has the size/speed/instinct combo that's going to make him a factor, maybe Future All- Big Ten/All American type if he's deployed to his strengths (and Mattison has shown he does exactly that) |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | NU must stand for Not U |
and just for completeness, Northwestern (and Nebraska of course) are the other schools yet to make the B1G Tourney final |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Not enough Aggression |
I have no problem with the "Live by the 3, Die by the 3" style we play with..but outside of Burke, we really do not even try to get layups. Even when non-Burke players do drive, they look more to make a KICK-OUT PASS FOR A 3 PTR, ratrher than look for a lay-up or make an interior pass for an assist
|

There we go, calm everything down, 58-50 UM |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | PSU Defense, Does it Exist?? |
Not sure if I've ever seen defense this bad, they're not denying us anything, we're shooting about 80% from the field right now |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Feed Morgan |
I'm actually surprised we're not giving Morgan the ball more off of the Pick and roll...They're not really denying the pass to him and this would be an excellent confidence game for him |
| 1 year 11 weeks ago | Tourney Seeding |
I "think" he's referring to NCAA Tourney seeding, i.e. those are the teams we may be fighting for a 3 seed seend rather than a 4 seed with, IMHO, however, I think Florida is solidly ahead of us in seeding and Creighton and Florida State (barring some crazy ACCTourney run) is solidly behind us |
| 1 year 12 weeks ago | Doubtful |
He has speed, but players don't usually end up moving back in the defense (college weight programs)....he does play running back for his HS though, also doubtful, but you never know |

Jalen Rose is a little over-excitable...still better than a lot of other commentators, but needs a little less Gus Johnson and a little more Ernie Johnson |
| 1 year 12 weeks ago | Nominations only by Brian |
I would just say that nominations should only come from Brian/MGoBloggers...the homers that we are, a huge percentage of nominees will be voted in, so this in effect limits inclusion I think this works because any egregious exclusions will immediately be noticed and commented on by multitudes of commenters, and can then be corrected (and I think Tacopants should def get a spot...he has put so many years into the Maize and Blue!!) |
| 1 year 12 weeks ago | Disagree |
Not trying to criticize Bellomy at all...but I do disagree about 3rd string QBs... From both a general competing for your spot in practice makes everyone better standpoint AND an Oh Sh!t, 3rd stringer has to play out this game, I think the 3/4 star scholly player has a better chance of handling that than someone noone knows outside the QB coach |
| 1 year 12 weeks ago | Elite Trumps all, 1 more QB |
I think we def take 2 LBs, but both will be of the elite/highly rated type. One thing that hasn't been talked about, a 2nd QB...I love Shane, and I think he will be all awesome, but injuries happen during football game, and only having one scholarship player (Bellomy) backing him up makes me nervous |
| 1 year 12 weeks ago | A New (Old ) era |
Or at least have the freedom to do that, we are getting to an era where freshman won't be forced to play, it'll purely be a question of out-playing established people in front of them In 2012, I see Kalis, Magnussen and Braden (has the size/strength to contribute early) getting on the field as true freshman In 2013, Bosch plays a s a freshman, and Kugler definitely sees snaps at Center as a freshman, I also wouldn't be surprised if they try Dawson at Center at some point in time, just for depth purposes |
| 1 year 12 weeks ago | You stay Classy, Ann Arbor |
Between Novak and Douglass on the Hoop squad, and Molk, Woolfolk, Martin, Van Bergen, etc all moving on this year, it's just great to see The Maize and Blue not only field competive teams, but also our sports program(s) filled with such outstanding people. Go Blue!! |
| 1 year 13 weeks ago | What happened to Bullock?? |
And just because there is no better plasce to put this.... I subscribe tot he Jalen Rose theory of what happened, iin that Webber was not really getting anything pizza money while at UM, and at some point after he finished playing, but before he actually got drafted, Ed Martin gave him some big sum of money expecting to be taken care of later on...and that's when Ed Martin decided he could do this with more players and got his hooks in to Bullock, Taylor and Maurice Taylor and WAS giving them something more than pizza money while they were here....no inside information, but putting together the interviews/articles, etc I've seen and read, and it makes the most sense to me btw, what ever happened to Bullock? |
