Yeah, I think it was a plan all along for him to be let go/replaced. He was the recruiting coordinator. It makes complete sense to keep him on staff for awhile until coaches and other assistants get on the ball with recruiting and caught up on the present players on the team. Once that has been mostly established you start phasing him out. I do remember some recruits bringing his name up, so most likely didn't want to let him go from the start and lose connects to certain recruits until some new guys got with it.
Seems like that all would make sense.

Just seems like we have plans A, B, C, and D to cover multiple different situations that could take place. I'm not too worried. I think either way the chips fall Michigan will still be a Sweet-16 type of team.

Man, Cal is recruiting hard. They got Ivan Rabb and they actually were the front runner for Caleb Swannigan or Diamond Stone (can't remember which one right now) now it's possible they might land Jaylen Brown(sp?) also. wow.
|6 weeks 3 days ago||I think he has it in him||
If he can stay healthy and his offensive line can replicate what they did last year then he could easily run for 2,000+ yards and rack up 20+ Touchdowns. Also if he works hard this in his off season workouts and maybe do a little injury prevention training. I can see this kid doing really big things this season and could be looked at as a composite Top 5 running back nationally.
Does anyone know if he is going to hit any of the summer camp circuits this year?
I might have missed that in the article if he was or not.

|8 weeks 4 days ago||To be Elite||
1. WIN.. Can't be easier said than that. We can't be missing the NCAA Tournament or NIT for that matter. We have to be making NCAA runs every year.
2. Long Tenured Coach.. JB is excellent. I couldn't ask for anyone better, but how long will he be here before he retires. We need someone following him that knows how to progress his players and win the damn game. A lot of these other elite programs have the same coach for many many years.
3. Recruit blue-chip players.. If you want to be elite than you need elite players who can come in and make plays within their first 2 years, so there is no re-building. Also it would be nice to get players who are good and keep them for 3 years plus. Kinda like MSU, it seems they get good players to stick around.
Michigan can become elite in my opinion, and we have an excellent start. Just need to keep what we have going and make sure our next coach can do what JB does. We are definitely on our way. Just might take a couple more big time recruits and couple more Sweet 16/Elite 8 runs.

I think I would try to get the best offensive lineman first. Even if I had to get less talented backs.
Reasoning: Defense usually has the upper hand in the spring time. So better start up front if you want the best chance of winning.
1. Mason Cole (Best lineman, most likely)
2. Erik Magnuson (can play guard or tackle)
3. Kyle Kalis (would have gotten Glasgow, because he can play all 3 positions, but nvm)
5. Screw this. Way to hard to decide lol

The last few years I have been paying attention to the spring game the university has put out some kind of press release regarding what will be taking place, when, where, etc, etc.

Only reason I ask is because we are getting dangerously close to the game April 4th and would like to know the details.

|12 weeks 17 hours ago||Hey man, I know you're||
Hey man, I know you're getting a lot of shit for this play book thing and everyone is picking apart every sentence you write.
The thing is it's cool you have a chance to see the play book. Who wouldn't be excited to have that?
BUT, even though you are not giving out any detailed information IT IS the fact that you have let it be known that you got access to it.
The implications of just that fact could possibly be damaging. Either for the player or the team. Some things just have a way of blowing up even if you don't really see the harm right now.
So it is best that if you do have that you just keep it to yourself. I know that is probably hard to do, bc it's Jim Harbaughs playbook after all! Just please stop talking about it so there is absolutely no chance at all that anything can happen.
Everyone is only freaking out because you never know what could actually happen.
Sorry man, really cool information, but no one needs to know. (even though i'd love to see it also. It's just better that less people possible see it or even knows the fact that someone not on the team has seen it either.)

|13 weeks 13 hours ago||The only concern I have is||
The only concern I have is letting the "offers" be apart of the criteria for grading the players.
In some cases I could see it working, but not all the time.
For example, say Alabama or USC only needs to take 1-2 offensive line prospects. Now since these programs only need a couple players they might feel comfortable not offering a lot of prospects even if a prospect is VERY deserving of an offer.
So those programs go without offering and now according to your rankings it might hurt them because they aren't getting big national program offers.
This situation can vary many different ways as we all know recruiting is weird to say the least.

|19 weeks 12 hours ago||You can't read too deep into||
You can't read too deep into the titles. Jim is going to help coach the quarterbacks no doubt about that. But, Fisch is the PGC and coaches WR's... and you really can't coach the WR's without being around the quarterbacks. The positions intermix when coaching..then you add the PGC into the mix and now you have a coach who is helping out with both facets. If your going to coordinate the passing game you have to help coach the guy who is passing and the guy who is catching. I'm sure coach heck also helped somewhat even though he didn't have the title.
This doesn't mean Jim isn't coaching the quarterbacks. Also, it's good that it is this way, bc Jim is the HC and I would think he would help in other areas on the team while at practice, so he has a guy that can do it all if he has to step away.

I'm sure Brian would have taken Les Miles in 2008 when he was 6 years younger and was just coming off a National Title win. That is way more attractive then how it is now.
Miles is considerably older, with a lot less years to coach now. It would be a very questionable coaching hire considering upside.

I think this is a easy choice. Mariota had almost a flawless year at quarterback. Gordon is outstanding, but oregon has only 1 loss, going to the playoffs, which is largely due to mariota at quarterback.
I think he does need to come back for his senior season though. Yes, his numbers make it look like he is ready to go now, but I really believe another year in college would really benefit him in the long run. He got sacked about 35-40 percent more this year then his previous 2 years. Either way he will be a high draft choice when he does go.

It's defense Bob Stoops needs help with. Get Stoops, then pay the money for the right coordinator. Like we just have been doing with Nuss & Mattison. We would be just fine.

A lot of these fans around here don't fully understand that it can take more than 3-4 years to do complete 180. Now, it doesn't always take 5 years to turn things around, but in a lot of cases it does. Definitely when you have to rebuild a depth chart. People don't understand how long that can take in the college game. When you have a lot of recruits who just don't make it or take 3 or more years to develope.
I think Brady had to go just to clense the program, but I do believe he would have got us back to winning 9+ games a year starting next year. Oh well.

Like a lot of others are saying, JUST because he is a former CEO doesn't mean he is anything like Brandon. I mean where the hell does that logic come from? Damn, some Michigan fans are annoying. Just calm your shit and stop reacting so effin fast. I'm sure Hackett is pretty aware that he needs to tread lightly and do things for the students, alumni, and fans. If he has half a brain anyways, because the thought process shouldn't be too hard after he saw what happened to his boss. He has the oppurtunity to really make his mark in a good way. And it should be easy as he just witnessed everything not to do!
Also, there might be the pitch to Harbaugh that they want him to come in a be a player in deciding on his next boss. Which might help. Only time will tell.. Let's just sit back crack a cold one and let it unfold.

Now.. On with our day!
|29 weeks 1 day ago||Question for the blog||
I had this thought in my head the other day and I wanted to know what you guys think about it.
We see now that the game of football is changing all the time. Mostly now to the spread it out type offenses. Most teams in college run some sort of spread look. Why? Because it works, it makes sense tactically, easier to use when you can't get GIANT offensive lineman to ground the defense into pieces. EVEN the NFL has become very spread-like. You see the NFL has turned into a passing league, spreading WR's all over the field. Teams are always trying to find their Percy Harvin type player. Hell, Chip Kelly is now coaching in the NFL.. You don't need to be an football guru to understand the game of football is now more evolved than ever.
I have been saying if Michigan is supposed to be one of the Elite/Greatest programs then we need to learn how to adapt and evolve with the game to stay on top. Only makes sense right? We all love the Tradition Tradition Tradition!!!! But is tradition of running outdated offenses is what has been keeping us back. (not all the reason, but it was a lot of why we wanted Carr out and something fresh)
Well, we went hired the right guy in my opinion. Rich Rod. He was doing great at West Va. and he had a great track record. He was even competeing for a spot in the National Title when we got him. He was one of the best innovators of the spread. He was running what would be the future of most college/nfl offenses. Even though he wasn't a Michigan Man he was an excellent choice for what we needed to keep up with the fast changing game.
I'm not here to argue about how we should or should'nt have kept him. Or how he was lacking in some areas that could have been easily fixed. (pay top dollar for an excellent DC, ect). Whatever. It's long past done now. We now know that he is off at Arizona and doing well so far. He is still in the beginning of building his team.
We on the other hand, said Fuck you future, we need our good ol' past back. We need manball. We need tradition. We need a Michigan Man. Well, we got it. And, it went horribly wrong. Instead of slowly progressing year to year like Rich Rod, we have gotten worse each season. So, now we have the coach we needed doing good, and the one that was all the right things about to be fired.
Rich Rod would have got us where we needed to be with a little more time and SUPPORT from the alumni and fans. He would have also brought Michigan football into the modern era ways of playing. Spread football. He should have been the guy, but it didn't happen. He was exactly what we needed if we wanted to evolve with the rest of the sport, which is what I think Great and Elite programs do to stay on top. I do also believe if we would have hired Les Miles we could have stayed on top, but we went with the future and I don't think it was the wrong choice, exactly.
My question is, did we just fire the Athletic Director our program needs in the future? Say 5-6 years from now when college football goes full business. We know it's headed that way. We have people always talking about paying players, sponsorships, advertisments, ect. Brandon made some horrible decisions, yes, but very fixable ones. Ticket prices, fixable. In stadium advertising, fixable. Connection with students/fans, fixable.
He could be the guy we need in the near future. If he knew anything, it was how to raise money. I'm sure he could have found other ways then raising ticket prices. As of right now I am glad he is gone. I just hope it's not the same story as Rich Rod. That means we got rid of two key componets that would have helped the program stay on top in the New Age of the game and where it's headed business wise.
So I know this is kinda long and dragged out, but I wanted you to get where I'm coming from. I am not trying to stir up anything about Rich Rod or try to defend brandon. I understand why we got rid of both of them. I just want you to think about it. This really made me think when I saw so many ppl talking about how we should have kept RR. I know this post might bring me a lot of backlash, but remember I am just asking a question geared toward the future. Nothing more than a thought I wanted opinion on.
|29 weeks 2 days ago||I really don't think it sucks||
I really don't think it sucks that much. I mean, what was he really going to do for us at this point in the season? He is supposed to be quite the ball player, but we haven't seen enough to know for sure if he is a game changer at this time.
He got some college experience under his belt. This season won't amount to much. All we can hope for is making a bowl game, possible Win vs Ohio St. and maybe a bowl victory. I highly doubt all three of those things can or would happen even if we did get Jabril back this week. Hopefully we can just make a bowl game, so the players can get 15 more practices.
Might as well, let him keep practicing for next year. Be able to start fresh and healthy %100.

The bad decisions that Michigan makes is being so ingrained with so many old traditions.. like running pro/power style offense. If you are one of the elite/greatest programs that means you know that you must be creative, adapt, and evolve to keep being elite. We don't do that, bc all the fans and alumni want the tradition tradition tradition!
Yes, there are some programs who are winning doing the old way, but it's not very many. Which obviously we should see we need to make changes. ohhhh wait.. we did. We hired Rich Rod to bring us that change and then everyone bashed him, bc he wasn't a "Michigan Man" (dumbest shit ever) and his team wasn't winning enough yet.. dispite the yearly progress in wins. So, we fired Rich then hired a "Michigan Man" to take us back to our good ol' tradition of pro/power style football AND that got us a Football program that is accelerating right into the abyss!!!
Side story to my rant.. My high school would never hire a football coach that didn't belong to the school. I mean someone who had to be affiliated in the school, such as, teacher, athletic director, etc. We never won many games.. just against weak opponets that everyone could beat. We always got our asses beat by the top teams in the conference. 2 years after I graduate my high school finally went out and hired them an actual football coach. Took him a year or two, but he now has them winning. For the first time in over 12 years we had a winning record. We finally figured out that the coach didn't need to be someone who had ties to the program, just someone who knew how to win. This story is errily similar to Michigan Football. Which makes me even more sick, bc I'm reliving this shit twice.

It seems odd that I really haven't seen the offense he ran at Washington with Locker and Price. Locker was one of the best passers while on the run. We rarely see devin get rolled out, which I would think is what he would like behind a not so great o-line and being a dual-threat.

|33 weeks 3 days ago||Yes, my point exactly. Just||
Yes, my point exactly.
Just because the kids don't mention attendance doesn't mean they don't see it and might have a tiny affect on them.
Think about if it was neck and neck between Michigan and another school, the prospect can't decide so he starts taking smaller things into account. This stadium fills its seats...and this one has gaping holes in it. If he wants to play in the best atmoshere possible Michigan might not be his choice.
Also, 92-94, I don't really recall too many games that had thousands of students/fans missing either.
Now of course it probably won't play a role that often, but when your coming to Michigan for a hyped night game.. I would think you would expect the stands to be full and a insane crowd atmoshere. If I was to attend a game like that and the students didn't show up I would be very disappointed and would ask myself if they can't fill the seats in a big game, then what does a smaller game look like. Half empty with no one to cheer? screw that.
We only hurt the team and program more. Idc what you say. It can only have a negative affect.

What is it every time Michigan plays bad, and we fall apart, that the Former players feel disconnected? WTF. I don't understand Michigan fans.. Honestly the fans make everything worse, because they know absolutely NOTHING AT ALL.

My first choice has always been Miles, I just not sure how realistic it is. I mean the man has a really good spot down there. SEC, recruiting hot bed, etc. I hope he comes home to Michigan and makes us elite once again.
If he does come, I think all he will need is a top notch Offensive Coordinator. It has always seemed that he has had a tough time putting up a lot of points, but in the end he wins.

|34 weeks 2 days ago||I feel sorry for the guy. We||
I feel sorry for the guy. We tear him apart for his responses, when in reality he is most likely saying what his boss told him to say.
Everyone lay off of Hoke, yes he has made some mistakes, but they haven't been nearly as bad as some. The shane morris deal is def. bad, but I think there was some confusion and in the heat of the moment type argument could be made. He should have called timeout. Thank god it didn't turn out any worse. In the end though I think he knows what should have been done, and he is pissed that he didn't make the right call when he knew the right one. He can get through that one though, bc if we were winning and had a better record it would have been less of a topic.
Coach Hoke is a good man, he loves his players, he messed up a couple times, but not enough to get fired mid season. Do I think he is the right man for the job? Yes and no. He could have been if it wasn't for the need to win NOW. I think if he was coach in 2016 he would have a dominant team. He ran out of time.. his team is struggling at the wrong time, which will be the reason he is fired. This is a good coach, if he can find a place that will give him 6 years to build a team then you will see why he was hired.
As for Michigan, even if hoke could pull it together next year it doesn't matter. We don't have anymore time to wait and see. We need to win now. The program is stale. THE ONLY THING THAT CAN BREATH NEW LIFE INTO THE TEAM IS A NEW COACH, AND THAT'S REALLY THE REASON HOKE NEEDS TO BE FIRED.

Just not really sure I'm in love with any of these canidates.. I like the thought of giving a couple of the guys a shot, BUT that's not what we need. Michigan's next hire has to be a upper echlon type. A big name.
Just hard to see who it could be.. or wonder who actually has interest. There is a chance one or two of these guys have a good interest in us.
|34 weeks 3 days ago||Recruiting. I know this is||
Recruiting. I know this is the wort case scenario in the middle of the recruiting year(2015).
Do we stop chasing the big time names like KLS?
Or go for a new strategy and start looking for kids that aren't superstar recruits?
This thought came to me when I thought about Depth, I don't want to have to go through that again. A new coach is enough, but if we can at least salvage a recruiting class with a "few" MAC level players just so we don't have to start walk ons later down the road. Is this a bad idea??
Hopefully someone understands what I am thinking here. As I probably didn't explain fully.

Former players should get some kind of break when it comes to going to a game. That just makes sense. They are the reason Michigan football came to be so great. Obviously, we are not great now, and every player didn't make an impact, but hopefully you see my point.

I see what your saying, but your taking what I'm saying the wrong way.
Coach Hoke is really good at selling/repersenting The University of Michigan. I love him for that. He really seems to be a very good person. He also loves Michigan. With that being said, I really like him as an individual.
Now, if you listen to what he says about the FOOTBALL program, and how he gives us no info or info that is false then I have to say your an idiot if you listen to him. Doesn't make him a bad person or make me not like him as an individual.
There I spelled it out.

Well I guess you just don't understand my post then.
I love Coach Hoke, as a person and a repersenter of Michigan. He does really well in showing how great of school we are. I don't think anyone has a problem with that.
It's how he sheds questions and continues to lead are football program in a downward direction.
So, yes, I'm with you I LOVE when people state their opinions of our coach, but are not ignorant of whats going on.
Is it wrong to criticize someone I like as a person, but understand he is screwing up?

I hear ya, man. The situation sucks for this guy. I would love to see what he could have done if he would have came in with Hoke in 2011.
|35 weeks 3 days ago||After reading this it got me||
After reading this it got me thinking. We just hired this man, and I think every Michigan alum and fan across the board was very pleased with this hire. He has turned around the offensive line somewhat.. There is a lot that has to be done to install and execute your system in your first year.
That's what has me thinking. Could we really get rid of this guy with such a small sample size?
I know it's not him personally that would be gettting fired. That would be Hoke, but it makes it harder for me to fire this staff when I think of it like that.
I know this has already been asked, what if we fired Hoke and promoted Nuss? Well, that makes no sense either, because the offense is the main problem and he is running that side of the show.
Man, I hate the situation we are in. I hope we can turn this ship around, but it looks very bleak.

Just a quick question for the board.
How well do you think Saban/Meyer/Dantonio would do if they became the next Head Coach at Michigan?
This is if they came here at the end of this year, brought all of their coordinators, etc. Give me your thoughts where the program would be in 2015 and 2016?
This is completely hypothetical...Just wanted to see the thoughts.
|36 weeks 13 hours ago||Yeah I agree with all the||
Yeah I agree with all the predictions. I feel after people have complained about borges, funk and the oline, etc. They will finally turn towards Devin. Everyone has kinda stayed away from him because of the first few things we had to complain about, but now we have a new OC, somewhat better oline play, now it's up to devin to orchestrate the offense to the next level. If he continues to look average people will jump on him.
For me, I really don't know what I'll do if this team fails against Utah. This is a game we should win with a 4th year coach and a 5th year quarterback at Michigan. I'll probably just crawl into a deep hole if the worst happens.
I believe in this coaching staff and the players. So I think we can win this game. More importantly I want them to win to get some of the heat off the coaches and the players.
|36 weeks 14 hours ago||Well it's nothing that hasn't||
Well it's nothing that hasn't already been said or known. Hoke just needs to win big games and be more dominant against weaker opponets. We know that, other people know it, and I'm sure he knows that. We just have to wait and see.

Everyone thought the competition across the team this year was insane!! 2015 have some very intense practices. Can't wait to find out who comes out on top.
Position battles that will be most intriguing (to me): Running Back...Green, Isaac, Smith, Weber
Quarterback.. Morris, Speight, Bellomy
Strong Defensive End...Taco, Poggi, Roseboro
Middle Linebacker...Gedeon, McCray, Ferns
OFFENSIVE LINE...Cole, Mags, Miller, Kugler,
Bosch, Kalis, Dawson, etc

I just don't understand. Why do this?
|36 weeks 3 days ago||Yeah I was thinking about||
Yeah I was thinking about Bunting, I just have no idea where his blocking is currently at right now. Wasn't the best in high school. If he blocks like Funchess then we need to make him a wide receiver ASAP.
Either way, as long as we progress in that position this year and can take another step I think that position will be excellent for us. Would be awesome if Clark sticks with us and enrolls early! This team can be something really special, not just talking about next year, because this year is far from over.
|36 weeks 3 days ago||I really hope Jake gets back||
I really hope Jake gets back (all the way) soon, we could really use his blocking. probably more than his receiving abilities.
I think along with the O-line the past couple years, bad tight end play has really hurt us. Bad.
By next year, hopefully we will have Butt, Hill, maybe Clark. All being able to do a better job than williams. Nothing against Williams, but the kid just can't block. I defintely understand how hard it is to block a guy shaded on your inside going towards the play, but damn. Hold him up for 2 seconds and that would help so much.
|36 weeks 3 days ago||I'm very excited and||
I'm very excited and optimistic about our defensive front. I think they have done a decent job this year, but by the time we play penn state I think they will be just a hair under elite status.
The pass rush will end up far better than the last two years, but still not where anyone wants it. I think it's because we lack a true play maker on the ends. Frank Clark is good, yes, but he is just above average a B+ type player. I like Beyer, but he doesn't have it either.
This also worries me though, bc there doesn't seem to be anyone behind him. If there was one player I would like to see burn their redshirt it would be Lawrence Marshall. Next year, it's him and Mario (who hasn't shown much). I think we need to get his feet wet, but who am I? haha
Anyways, I think getting a KLS or someone of that level is a major MUST for 2015 recruiting. I think the weakside end will be the only weak spot on the defense next year. Looking for a pretty good step up from the strong side with taco, poggi. It's amazing the players we have and the potential that is sitting there waiting to burst out. It will soon enough!!!

I been rooting for this kid from the very beginning. Just always thought he was a really good fit at the center position.
Really hoping he takes hold of that center job all season and becomes extremely reliable. Then in 2015 as a redshirt senior I would like him to take another step and win the job again for consecutive years and become a leader.
I know it's been said there usually isn't much progress from Junior to Senior years, but I think if he holds on this year and beats out Kugler/Glasgow next year. We will be looking at one hell of a football player.
|36 weeks 3 days ago||I hope to see us come out and||
I hope to see us come out and control this game from start to finish. There are a lot of Michigan fans who think this will either be a narrow victory or a loss. We need to come out and play a flawless game.
If we can do this I think it will give us fans a little comfort.
Honestly, I think the Wolverines will surprise us this weekend!!
|36 weeks 3 days ago||I posted this a while back,||
I posted this a while back, but don't expect Nuss to run a up-tempo offense. At Alabama, and now Michigan the players have said they run a high tempo practice to get as many reps in as possible. They will not play that way, however.
Aj McCarron did an interview about how they practice compared to how they play and he stated this exactly. High tempo offense in practice. but rarely use it in a game.
I think this also helps the defense a lot. More fast pace spread teams in today's game, so practicing fast and getting tons of reps in helps everyone.

I honestly don't think we will know anything after this weekend.
My reason: We are playing one of the worst teams in college football, there are many injuries so who knows who will actually play and get to contribute. Since it's a weak opponet I'm sure we will try to get some key guys some rest. Which I personally hope we play everyone we can, because this team needs to get better!!
If we come out and shine against Utah I will feel a little better. Not because I think Utah is great, but they have shown to be pretty decent. We come out and thrash them, then there could be hope.

|37 weeks 3 days ago||Alright guys, I understand||
Alright guys, I understand everything that has been going on the past 7-8 years. I understand the rebuilding process and how bad our depth was and what it takes to get it all back. It takes a lot of time, especially when your cupboard was almost completely empty. Takes a lot of time to rebuild. We are in only year 4, which is more like 3.5, because Hoke didn't get to recruit all of 2011.
Now think about it.. offensive line was empty. Hoke recruited the position heavily to get bodies in there. Here is the thing.. there wasn't many upperclass players for them to learn from. Which is making it even harder.
We also know every player doesn't turn into a star. Which makes a lot of the lineman we recruited irrelevant.
It will take 6-8 years to wash away what RROD did to the program. Not saying he completely fucked us, I actually liked him somewhat.
Why 6-8 years? Simply because all the players Hoke is recruited won't actually turn out. That is true for every program, but when you start with nothing it hurts more because you need players who can compete NOW. So, it will take longer than a lot of us ever thought. It also took JB awhile to get our basketball program up and going. Now he has depth of players who can compete, very unlike the football team.
Another thing holding us back is quarterback play. Yeah, I loved Denard, I love Devin, he should be the quarterback this year.
The problem is he spent too many years not learning shit. That is hurting us badly.
It was even said, the 3 years he spent behind denard that he didn't study the game of football or take it a seriously as he should have.
I think things will finally turn around in 2016. The depth chart will be packed full. Plenty of upperclass players. A quarterback who has actually had coaches who teach them better than the previous staff.
Moral of my story.. Michigan was just too beat down in the dirt to come back in 3-4 years. We were more fucked up at the end of rrod than we thought. We will come back. Just not this season or maybe next. Just think about how bad that depth was.. and what it really takes to build a WHOLE program.
|37 weeks 4 days ago||Idh, man. It's hard saying||
Idk, man. It's hard saying who some of these calls actually fall on. I would like to think Hoke, since he is the head man. We just don't adjust EVER. I can't believe we never tried to stretch the field with Funchess or Chesson. The jump ball game, where did it go? I mean hopefully it went out with borges, but damn throw the ball up to 6' 5'' and let's see what happens. Your down 21-0 and you stay methodical? OPEN THE DAMN OFFENSE UP AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

|38 weeks 13 hours ago||As I see it, Preseason polls||
As I see it, Preseason polls are just made up for fun. They get discussion going, get fans excited, gives the media something to talk about, etc.
I look at preseaon polls and compare them to Hallmark holidays, such as, Valentines, Mother's and Father's day (even though they mean well). They don't really truly matter and they only serve very few purposes.
I think preseason polls are okay, they don't really do any true harm, because they don't mean anything. It's all about the real polls that come out in the 7th or 8th week of football that really matter and it's after all the voters get time to see all the teams play and make a decision. I highly doubt any of them are going to care about who was ranked where in the preseason.
So, let's just let them be. Just like we have with the holidays.

Was it Sheldon Day or Tommy Schutt that had a somewhat confusing recruitment a little while back? I think it was one of those guys I'm not completely sure. If I remember correctly (which I doubt) one of those guys seemed to be leaning Michigan's way then we told him we were full or something? Idk, follow recruiting too much. Probably losing my mind.
On another note, Sheldon Day seems like he is becoming quite the ball player. Was he highly touted coming out of high school? I didn't know he would be such an impact player already.

Well growing up just on the other side of the stateline in michigan 8 miles away from notre dame, you could probably imagine what it means to me. There is nothing to do in the town I live in, so whenever you need something you most likely drive to the south bend/mishawaka businesses. It's miserable. The news stations are all based out of the south bend area, so I get to hear them everyday talking up the damn irish after every win, claiming "This is the year!". Stores filled with mostly their merchandise. Fans... ohhh the amount of arogant, ignorant fans that are around me. I would say my city is about 60% ND, 30% UM, 10% MSU. It's been tough when we lose. It is all they talk about no matter what.. Even in 2007 in the wake of the HORROR, then our smackdown of them, they still talked trash.

This is a hard one to predict, as I see the game going a couple different ways. I'll give it a shot though.
I have Michigan winning 31-20
I believe that our offense, as long as there is no turnovers, will really shine Saturday night. DG has done well in the past with big games.
Also believe that Michigan's Depth on Defense will help us win the 2nd half.
Players of the game: Devin Gardner on Offense and Blake Countess on Defense.
I think DG will have a big game throwing and RUNNING the ball. Think he combines for 3 total touchdowns. Derrick Green rushes for one. Matt Wile boots a fieldgoal. Countess has 2 PBU's and one interception.

I think we shouldn't give the 21 or 11 out until next year..Let's wait out this season and see if anyone deserves to wear it.
There just needs to be some kind of process to the whole thing.

When does Bells stop brewing Oberon? Just wanting to know so I can stock up before the quit for the season.
|39 weeks 3 days ago||I completely understand that.||
I completely understand that. It did come out kinda the wrong way from him. I do believe that the kid could have died in that time. Definitely if you have ever heard of Dry Drowning. Which is something I don't know enough about to explain, but it's basically someone who has taken in water, then stills dies later or something along those lines.
I still feel people jumped on Gucci way too hard and fast, when no one knew anything yet. Not really trying to defend every word he said, but we need to judge with a little more precaution is all.

Everyone negged the hell out of GucciMane in the first thread when this story came out, because he was saying it was ridiculous to jump and not use the stairs.
Now some new info comes out and it's okay for people to question what he did? WTF.
People need to go back and take away ther neg vote for being so quick to hate on someone who shared the same reasoning that people are alright with coming out and saying now.

I really like our 2015 schedule. Definitely like seeing Oregon State on the schedule, have always liked both Oregon teams for some reason. Also kinda cool seeing UNLV and BYU, yeah they're not your flashy powerhouse programs, but very solid. All those teams have been making frequent trips to bowl games the past few years. I'm excited.

I honestly would like to see a banner with either a sea of helmets or one of devin gardner, I think he really deserves a lot of recognition for the way he has stayed with the team, done great in school, and became a leader we desperately needed.
|39 weeks 4 days ago||Everyone hears "simpilified||
Everyone hears "simpilified offensive blocking scheme" this couldn't be more untrue.
The zone blocking scheme is way harder to learn than man to man blocking.
In the zone you have to have EVERYONE on the EXACT same page or it goes horribly horribly wrong.
The reason why it's been said it is more simple is becasue they are just learning ONE scheme this year instead of multiple differnt schemes like before. So, yes the NUMBER of blocking schemes have been simplified, BUT the scheme they are learning is in fact tougher. Zone is obviously what Alabama has been running, but a interview with their offensive lineman tells me that it is no easy challenge to learn.

For real though...I know Delano Hill is out right now, but I still am very nervous about our safety depth. Still don't understand why we stopped recruiting Montae last year.

|40 weeks 1 day ago||10-3||
I just have the feeling that we will go 10-3. I think one loss comes from MSU or OSU then another loss to Northwestern or Penn State. I think MSU gets some breaks in more than one Big Ten game, and that gets them to the B10 Chamionship again. We play in a good bowl game vs Les Miles and LSU, and they beat us by a touchdown. We are very heartbroken, but really proud of how they played and pumped about what returns in 2015.
At the end of the season we will look back and laugh at how panicked we were about the offensive line and running game. By the end of the year we are extremely excited about the players on the offensive line, especially Kyle Kalis (if he stays healthy) The running game itself does moderately well.
One of either Funchess or Countess return for another season... Those who Stay..
All together one hell of a season and Very emotional.
|40 weeks 1 day ago||Interesting. Not really. I||
Interesting. Not really. I had a buddy who went to michigan state and he would hang out with Le'Veon Bell and other football players regularly. He also played sports there.
What he told me is that they all smoked pot regularly together. He has no reason to lie to me, because he knows I don't give a damn about what they do. As someone who used to indulge in the green stuff, he thought it would be interesting to me to tell me who he has smoked with up there.
I can say if MSU were to drug test their players after they came back from any of their breaks, they would undoubtably get some positive results. This goes for the MSU football, basketball, and baseball team.
Since I doubt my finding will ever do anything or be note worthy it's still interesting for me to know what they get away with up there.
I know, I know... Cool Story Bro.

|40 weeks 2 days ago||No not really, I remember an||
No not really, I remember an interview with AJ McCarron saying that they practice at a very high tempo, BUT they don't show it during games. It is just to prepare the team and get the most reps in practice. Of course as a result they will be able to go high tempo in a two minute drill and they will be prepared for it.
So, no. Nuss will practice them at a high tempo at all times, but in a game he will manage the clock. This will also mean the team should be really well conditioned and the defense should be ready for any high tempo type teams.
Expect to see an Alabama offense approach, with some of his old stuff from his Washington days mixed in. He will use Devin kinda like Keith Price and Locker.

It seems they have a very vetern defense also. Really hoping to win this game. We have a lot going for us..night Game at HOME, wanting revenge from last year, possibly undefeated.
Could be a huge victory, as I think we will both be ranked and have no losses.
|40 weeks 4 days ago||COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC!||
Does anyone know how many returning players Penn State is bringing back this year? Specifically along the o-line I was looking at their depth chart and they have some big boys on the line this year.
Edit: Sorry. I figured someone wouldn't be able to resist a downvote, but I didn't know where I should ask. I figured the latest thread would be a good choice since it will have some traffic. Not really trying to thread jack. Just hoping to get pointed in a direction to find some penn st. info.
|41 weeks 4 days ago||I honestly would love if Jack||
I honestly would love if Jack Miller could take hold of the Center position. He has the perfect size for the position. It would enable us to use our best lineman Glasgow at one of the other positions. I know Hoke said that Glasgow is a center, but he is our best lineman and better suited for guard. So, if Miller can finally hold it down it would be sweet, because I really feel the coaches are only comfortable with one of the guard spots. Put Glasgow in there and we might have 4/5 of the line doing very good.
|41 weeks 4 days ago||I really think we will be||
I really think we will be okay this year. What I'm hoping is that if we aren't playing that good by the Utah game we make some switches early. Unlike last year... I will not understand why we didn't move Mike Schofield back to LG and create a competant left side of the line. At least we could have done that. I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY THAT WASN'T TESTED.

Haven't read book in awhile. This will be something I can't wait to get my eyes on. The Fab5 from Webber's side. Should be very interesting.
|42 weeks 3 days ago||I don't think we need to||
I don't think we need to pursue another wide reciever in this class, our depth charth looks pretty solid, not proven, but solid. I think we can afford to take only one this class. Room is tight. We should be able to take 2 next year. Already in good shape with Austin Mack, Steven Smothers, etc.
In other words, If we hold on to Brian Cole then IDGAF about anyone else.
|42 weeks 3 days ago||Yeah, exactly what I was||
Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. (Let's not jinx anything though LOL)
If we could get those guys you named this class would be excellent. Proabably a Top-15 class. I just hope we can fit all those guys in the class. Coaches are still thinking of another Linebacker (Bilal, Masina) and maybe even another Offensive Lineman.

|43 weeks 1 day ago||Glasgow||
I agree, Glasgow's experience will help a ton. I really think that moving him all over the line during the spring was a VERY SMART move by the coaches. The benefits of moving him around should help the whole line come game time. As I see it moving him around got other centers (Miller, Kugler) more reps to help them improve, BUT most importantly it should have made Glasgow a much smarter lineman. He got to see the defense from various offensive line positions in the spring. This will help him become an even better center, because the Center is the quarterback of the offensive line. With so many young lineman it will be a great to have a center who can help out the whole line before the snap of the ball.
|44 weeks 1 day ago||O-Line||
The offensive line will most likely average over 300lbs no matter what... so I guess that looks nice. Hopefully they can put it all together this year. All we need is average O-Line play this year.
|48 weeks 2 days ago||Yes.||
The answer to your question is yes. There is no way we would turn down Inman Marshall if he wanted to join the class, even if we landed another guy before him.
|48 weeks 3 days ago||No Fly Zone||
Demar Dorsey could have been a redshirted senior this year. Man, that would have been really nice to have at safety for 2014, oh well. He most likely would have never redshirted anyways with how bad our defense was back then. Would have been cool though.
