Browns are taking Eifert at 6, IF Jordan and Milliner are both gone (which I think they will be). They will try to trade back, wont find a partner, and will end up taking Eifert.

If it were me (which is my way of saying I have no idea if this is the "right" or "wrong" way to go about it, only my opinion of what I would do) I would avoid bringing up OSU all together. Ask him how he's doing at Akron, what he thought of his work for the Colts, basically anything but OSU. The best revenge is living well, and further by asking him about his life since then you are subtly reminding him he isn't as OSU anymore. Again, thats just me. I don't figure he's going to say "Oh yeah, I had my brother handing out wads of cash like it was lunch" and "yeah, we circumvented every rule we could"...I mean, unless you go all Jack Burns and inject him with sodium pentathol in the bathroom. |

my Uncle Buck had to stay with us for a week when my Parents had to leave town because my Grandfather was dying. One night, his horse fixer was in town and he was going to take my twin sister and I to the track with him. However, my older sister was on a date with her boyfriend Bug, and Uncle Buck knew that he couldn't take us to the track for his big score while my sister was in danger of being deflowered. That's how my Uncle Buck taught me family is more important than gambling. |

with felony possession (5th degree felony) for having over 100 grams. In Ohio you can have up to 100 grams in one bag and it is considered "personal use" which is a class 6 misdemeanor. He is also charged with trafficking (4th degree felony) because the pound was in separate bags. I didn't see empty bags in the picture, but if they were present, then they could attach a "possession of criminal tools" charge as well. Had everything been in one bag, it would have been felony possession only. Or that's what I heard on a documentary on PBS. Since they smelled burnt weed, but he didn't get a drug paraphenalia charge, Im going to assume he was toking a joint or a blunt. |

which is about 15 minutes northeast of downtown. Money magazine ranked in as one of the 100 best places to live in 2008, I believe. Where, an hour north, will you be working? Mansfield? The northwest suburbs are the more "ritzy" places to live (such as Upper Arlington, Dublin and Powell), but traffic on that side of town rush hour is absolutely horrendous, which is why my Wife and I decided to live on the Northeast side of town. Westerville is more north/central, but it is also a nice suburb as well. As far as the city itself, it's really not that bad. The farther you are from OSU campus, the less likely you are to run into the insane Bucknuts. You can get anywhere from anywhere in 20 minutes or less. Columbus is a big test market due to its "whitebrededness" so many corporations open test locations here, so you can find almost any chain restaurant that exists. There are a number of good golf courses nearby as well (if you are so inclined). There are 2 "Lifestyle centers" (does anyone remember malls, sheesh Im old) that may not rival what you can likely find in LA, but they wont leave you wanting either. You can get pretty much anything you want here, except good seafood. Also, you may want to look into Delaware county, which is the county directly north of Franklin (which Columbus is located in). Cities to look at in Delaware county include Delaware (so creative!), Sunbury, and Powell to name a few. Delaware county has the highest median income in the state and it is also the fastest growing county in the state both in terms of poulation and income. If you have any other specific questions, Id be happy to help. |

when you lose say nothing. When you win say less. Drives them crazy. They totally want you to be a smug, arrogant s.o.b. so they can still hate you, but you just smile, and say, "yeah great game. Just glad the better team won" Drives buckeyes nuts. I will admit though, walking around the office building with a sh*t eating grin on your face is completely acceptable. Also- surreptitiously crop dusting their cubicle and making a graceful exit before they know what hit them is also encouraged. Or if they have an office, drop the hammer, and then as you walk out, close the door behind you. yup, I'm 35 and act like I'm 15 |

It's the only style Michigan hat I've ever had (4 and counting). I hope I never have to buy another design. If they want to get rid of the split M (or any of the others) thats fine, but to say that this specific logo is no longer acceptable is incomprehensible to be. The hat on my avatar was purchased 11 years ago. I have been reluctant to buy a new one because the new ones have the larger New Era logo on the side, and even that is too much to me. It's a personal choice, and if people like the fatter M, then thats wonderful, but I want to wear a plain "Bo" style hat until I die, thank you very much |

gone are the days of worrying about such trifles as accuracy. The most important thing now is being "first" with something. On the bright side, it has greatly increased the effectiveness of my internal BS filter. |

New Balance used to be made in the USA only...I know that has changed somewhat what with them having to cut some corners to meed price standards and get their stuff in places like Meijer and other large box stores, but they really do make an effort to maintain a manufacturing presence in the USA, which is commendable. It is also why I haven't worn anything but New Balance in clese to ten years. Screw Nike and Adidas, from a "evil corporation" perspective. They both suck. |

that he can handle pressure and throw accurately with people in his face (and at his feet, ostensibly). Anyone can sit there with a clean pocket and look good, like its a 7 on 7 drill. Unfortunately, opposing teams have plans of their own and they involve rushing, hitting and otherwaise maiming opposing QB's (especially the upper echelon teams. The ones we REALLY want to beat). As a result, I'd rather have the guy who can handle the rush who may not have all of the measurables over the guy with a million dollar arm and a ten cent head. |
| 14 weeks 6 days ago | Disagree |
The possibility exists that Denard never was and never would be a good passer. The possibility also exists that Bellomy was brought in as a late addition to a class they had about a month to cobble together. Furthermore, the backup QB debacle was precipitated by a certain receiver who left the team hanging out to dry due to his poor decision making. There weren't really a lot of good options, and I'm sure the decisions were not made solely by Al. I'm not on the Borges bandwagon by any stretch of the imagination. The playcalling was unimaginative, and whatever happened in Columbus was nearly deriliction of duty. But to try and heap the QB problems all on him is not at all accurate, imho. If Devin comes out this year and struggles, then we can talk, |

My formative SNL years were during the reign of Sandler, Spade, Farley, Myers, Carvey and Hartman (I loved Phil Hartman. News Radio is one of the most underrated sitcoms ever, but I digress). During that time I remember hearing from my Mother about how it was nowhere near as good as it was with Murray, Aykroyd, Chase and Ratner, or even when they had Murphy, Piscopo and Crystal. So, people have been saying this about SNL being better 10-15 years ago, since its 10th or 15th year on the air. |

| 17 weeks 5 days ago | for the golfers out there |
Sky Droid GPS is a low cost ($2.99? i think) app that is just as handy as the GPS' you see in Golf Galaxy and Dicks for hundreds of dollars more. I havent been to a course yet that I haven't been able to download in seconds for free. It is especially handy if you are playing a course you have never been to before. Also- www.golfnow.com is about the greatest website ever, and they have an app as well. They contract with a number of local courses (they're in 49 states) and offer discounts on tee times (sometimes significant, sometimes not). I have played more very nices courses over the last 5 years than I had in the previous 30. This is also aided by the fact that many previously private courses had to go public, and a number of them (at least in Cleveland) have partnered with Golf Now. I've played courses that charge $70 a round on the weekends for $20 on a weekday. Could play the same course for $40 or $50 on the weekend too. Golf is good. Cheap golf is better |

| 21 weeks 1 day ago | +1 for Jiffy reference |
I'm eating one of their corn muffins right now, getting ready for my drive to Grand Blanc today. It's going to be nice to ge out of the Columbus area for a while. And there is no way Saban is coming to the Browns. Joe Banner has decided he wants to have final roster control. He wants to hire a GM who reports to him for football operations (so they are essentially a glorified Pro Personnel director). I would think Saban would want more power than that. Also, it seems Mike Lombardi (yes, the guy who drafted JaMarcus Russell) is DESPERATE to get back into the NFL. He worked for Banner in Philly in the 90's, and would be willing to take the GM role in the reduced capacity that Banner seems to want out of his GM. There have been tons of rumors, and my guess is Lombardi is the one floating lots of those rumors through his media pals to try and position himself for the job. One rumor stated that "hiring Lombardi would give the Browns the inside track to Saban", the reasoning being Saban and Lombardi both worked on Belichick's staff in Cleveland in the 90's. I have read in multiple other places that rumor is not true in any way, shape or form. Also, I've read that Saban doesn't care about Lombardi's involvement one way or the other. I was hoping the sale of the Browns meant the end of cronyism and that maybe the new braintrust would actually put effort into the interview process and hire the best man for the open jobs (GM, Coach). If this happens, it will signal the fact that nothing has changed and Browns fans just have to hope that the bosses' friends are up to the task. Maybe I should become a Lions fan. At least you have Calvin. |

yeah, I'm old, so what? I still wear the Bo style navy Block M hat. Never tried another style. Hell, I probably have boxer shorts older than some of you. I hate uniformz, but my opinion is not what matters to the people making decisions. Froma global perspective, I think its dangerous to do whatever you can in the sake of profits. Eventually you become dependent on those numbers, and if you can't reach them, then you might make other concessions to your ideals in order to maintain those profits. Eventually, you're a slave to the dollar and have lost a lot of what made you special to begin with. May not happen for 100 years, but the slow erosion of certain values and traditions is a slippery slope we are now all trying to reclaim solid footing on. Short term gain, potential long term loss. Now...GET OFF MY LAWN |

My family moved me from Ferndale to the East SIde of Cleveland in 1978. Much of my childhood was spent running from older kids before I got on the bus after school, because they wanted to beat me for wearing Michigan gear (my sarcastic personality probably helped as well). And that was only in Cleveland. I live outside of Columbus now, and I've had grown men shout out to me in a parking lot "Michigan sucks!". This is while they are walking into Target with their kids, as I am walking out with mine. I haved lived amongst Ohio fans most of my life. When they ask me how I can be a Michigan fan since I live in Ohio, I wish I had a video to replay for them of me hiding in the bathroom as a ten year old because the 7th graders have threatened to gang up on me on the way out to the buses. |
| 22 weeks 5 days ago | i tried posting this |
to Facebook, and within 5 minutes I got replies from 4 Buckeye fans who said the only reasn I posted it was because I was mad they beat Michigan this year, or that it doesn't matter because it was so long ago, or some other reply intimating that I was simply jealous or whatever. I thought about asking them if they really wanted their kids to idolize such a place and what that would ultimately teach their children about their parents and life in general, then I decided I didnt want this to take over my day, and I just took it down. Like my sig line used to say, "Never argue with a fool. People may not know the difference" |
| 22 weeks 5 days ago | Not. Gonna. Happen |
They wanted Clarett to talk, and for a while it appeared as though he may. Ultimately though, he was re-accepted into the fold at OSU (I think he even tried to take some more classes there), and he never gave the NCAA anything. And since it was 10 years ago, I doubt it would matter anyway. Come to think of it, since this is the NCAA we are talking about, it could have been 10 minutes ago and it wouldn't matter. |
| 22 weeks 5 days ago | you're exactly right Jim |
and it doesnt hurt that when Ferentz worked for the Browns in the 90's he worked with Belichik, Pioli, Jim Schwartz and a whole lot of others I'm probably forgetting. He is held in very high regard by a lot of NFL coaches and front office people. |

| 23 weeks 4 days ago | how are their prices |
in comparison to 5 Guys? More importantly, have the prices risen much in the past couple of years? That could be a reason for the reduction in quality you notice. I know that rising corn prices have helped increase beef prices across the board (i.e- for all cuts of beef, not just tenderloin or sirloin). I was just talking to the manger of the meat dept at my local Giant Eagle and he told me that prices on red meat have seen an average increase of 30% across the board in the last year alone. Maybe they figure what with having so many budget minded college students around, they were better off maintaining prices and sacrificing some quality in the process. My father in law (who was a deli owner/ baker for 30 some odd years) said one of the reasons he decided to bail was because of the meteoric rise of flour prices. He said he could have raised prices or started skimping, but after 30 plus years, he just decided to pull the eject handle, rather than let his legacy suffer at the end due to reduced quality standards. The restaurant business is tough, even for the "institutions" As an aside- are we done with stories about travels through Korea? I found those very entertaining. You spin quite a yarn, sir. |

my Dad and I could get a clear signal in his truck on a stretch of road between our house in Cleveland and our cottage near the Pennsylvania state line. Some of the happiest memories of my childhood involve riding back from a night doing work on the house at the lake, listening to Bruce Martyn call a Wings game. The funny thing was we couldn't get a signal on the big Cleveland AM station (1100), but we pulled in 760 well enough to hear the Wings. |

if Adderall really counts as a performance enhancer (that is what I have heard the suspensions were for) Joe Haden got clipped 4 games for this earlier as well. Adderall is more of a party drug (when used not in conjunction with a doctors instructions) than it is a performance enhancer. Not sure if they are taking it so they can study other teams' offenses more thoroughly, or if they are taking it during a night out with the boys (as was the case with Joe Haden). Either way, calling it a PED is a miosnomer. It is on the "banned substance" list , so they deserve punishment if they are guilty. Not sure what this has to do with Pete Caroll really. I'm all for looking for reasons to bash Pat Shurmur, but there was no way in the world Haden's use of adderall could have been blamed on him. Lord knows Browns fans are looking for any reason to hate Shurmur (most of the time we dont have to look very hard), but how a player conducts himself during an off day is out of the coaches control. |

the coaching staff really limited the options on offense. It seemed as though they lost a little faith in Denard's ability to securely carry the ball in his left hand after the fumble. I came into this game expecting the play book to be wide open, and insted it reminded me of Bill Bellichik running Eric Metcalf up the middle over and over again in the early 90's for the Browns. I am so flummoxed, it's hard to get sentences out right now, but I'd rather talk about something else more important that what I percieve to be a lackluster performance by the coaching staff. I'd like to thank all the players, and especially the Seniors for all their hard work this season. They handled themselves like true Michigan Men at all times on and off the field, and make me proud to don the Maize and Blue, especially living here in a suburb of Columbus. Not to get all mushy or anything, but I'm sure I am one of many who would like to heap effusive amounts of praise upon Denard, truly one of the greatest football players to ever suit up for Michigan. More importantly, he is an even better person off the field than on, by all accounts. Thank you Denard for four of the most amazing football seasons I have ever experienced. I wish the team the best of luck in their bowl preparation. Denard deserves to go out with a W.

columns of the season. I am a couple years older than you (my college life went from 95-99), but the line about going from trying to defeat Skeletor to survival is phenomenal. I may substitute Shredder for Skeltor, as I was not a big He-Man guy, but otherwise, that's some fine writing. I too was at that 2000 game in Columbus, seated in the student section as well (1A I think it was). I thought my buddy and I were the only 2 Michigan fans in the belly of the beast, but then I do remember seeing one or two other Michigan faithful nearby. Could very well have been you. who is simply afraid to even participate this week? Pick Michigan players, and invoke the wrath of the fantasy gods. Avoid Ohio State players, and invoke the wrath of the fantasy gods. Avoid them all, and then it turns into some weird redux of Oedipus, where the more you try to avoid your fate, the more you cause it to become reality. I shouldn't have even commented. Im 35, I should know better. Not "know better" as in its silly to think anything I do has an outcome on the game. But "know better" as to why even mention it, because now it could be a blip on the sports gods radar. As they say in Japan, the nail that sticks out gets hammered. Maybe I have mental issues |

could have had a sweatshirt on in the seats, but since I've been to that hole as a visitor before and not been treated exceptionally well, I wouldn't really care to walk into to out of the place wearing Blue. Once I went wearing a green jacket and khaki pants and two different sets of bros wanted to fight me because I wasn't celebrating OSU's win (2002). It'd be different if I were going with a group of folks or sitting somewhere friendly. Generally I agree, they are mostly hot air, but now that I'm in my 30's and have kids, I don't see the need to be putting myself in that situation. |

earliest memories of Notre Dame include Tim Brown and Rocket Ismail crushing my <10 year old soul. Grbac to Howard was easily one of the best days of my life while I was still a virgin. Notre Dame has always been a solid 1B to Ohio's 1A in my "hate" book. Sparty I never really considered a serious threat to anything other than my couch. Sparty is like "aww...isn't that cute....the little one wants to run with the big dogs". All that being said, my antipathy for ND has waned a bit over the years. At some point (i think it was 38-0 in 2003) i just started feeling sorry for them. Their fans went from pompous and arrogant to delusional, and it's not nice to make fun of insane people. SEC fans are just insufferabe. ESPN shoves it down everyone's throat. And I'm at a point in life where I pretty much despise whatever ESPN is shilling. Case in point, I was a big fan of Rory McIlroy as he was coming up. Now I root for him to lose, just because ESPN has decided to make him their new cash cow for golf. Wow, pretty sure I just realized I hate ESPN more than Notre Dame. I wish the Irish luck for the rest of the season, even if it will immediately induce vomiting every time I do so. Beat ESPN..errr...the SEC. |

I was shopping in Meijer earlier today in Gahanna, which is a suburb of Columbus. My son and I were both wearing our colors, and almost everyone else was wearing their OSU gear. I say "almost" because I saw a mother in a Mike Hart jersey pushing her son wearing a knit Michigan hat. When the boy saw my son and I, he got excited, grabbed his mothers jersey, and started pointing at us. She said "Go ahead, tell him" and he gave a hearty "Go Blue!" Later, as my son and I were looking for Lucky Charms, another older gentleman approached me and said "I just wanted you to know that after seeing all this red around, its nice to see someone raising their son right. Go Blue!" We may be outnumbered down here, but we stick together. GO BLUE! BEAT OHIO! |

that it should be in honor of AC if and when it does happen. After all, if it were not for AC, then by the time Broaylon came around, the #1 jersey would not have had enough cache for Lloyd to be able to use it as a motivational carrot for Braylon (who wasn't exactly the most focused player his first 2 years). For me, when comparing two phenomenal players who meant a great deal to Michigan football, the best way to determine who was best is by asking, "If AC had never existed, would Braylon have reached his potential?" Of course, he very well may have, but we will never know for sure. We do know that with the "carrot" he was able to reach his rather sizable potential. (I only refer to Braylon and AC, because they are generally recognized as the two best who wore number one. DA, Greg McMurtry and David Terrell were all very good in their own right, but I am operating under the assumtion that everyone associates #1 with either AC or Braylon) |
| 27 weeks 3 days ago | all in good time |
With the exit of Lerner, the "new" Browns are finally rid of the last vestiges of the Modell era and the curse he brought upon the team by firing(!) Paul Brown and cutting(!!) Jim Brown. Shurmur will be gone at the end of the season (if not sooner). I hope they keep Heckert around. He has done enough to warrant keeping his job. I have a feeling the next HC is not going to be a re-tread (Cowher, Gruden, Reid). And I certainly don't think they will be interested in a coach who wants to do anything other than be a head coach. They arent going to want guys who split duties between GM and coah, or O-coordinator or D- coordinator. I am more optimistic about the future of the Browns (after this season, obvs) than I have been since 1994, when Bellichik finally got it turned arpund and it realy looked like they would be good for a least the rest of the decade.

the more dismayed I am by other grown a$s men who disparage these kids who are out there playing a game. I want to see Michigan win as much as the next guy (likely more, considering all the beatings I suffered at the hands of Buckeye fans as a child), but for the love of God, if these young men don't win, there is no reason to speak so poorly of them. It's not like they are actively trying to fail. I suspect many of these critics have not overcome much adversity in their own lives.

I can confirm your assumption. My Wife's OB/GYN told me all about going to school in Kettering with Coach Hoke and his wife (while she was performing a C-section, no less). Apparently, the Doctor was the captain of the cheerleading squad while Coach was the captain of the football team. She could not say enough about what wonderful people Coach and his Wife both are. Furthermore, she said they have both been the exact same people since their days together in high school. Last, the Doc told me that even though she was an OSU alumna, she was now a Michigan fan and would be as long as Coach Hoke was in charge. Then the baby came out and we got sidetracked. College football didn't seem to be an appropriate topic any longer. |

i dont know what a catch is anymore, or a fumble, or what makes it a fumble (as opposed to an incompletion) when the qb loses the ball as he is throwing it. they view these plays one frame at a time in replay and it seems like they often lose perspective of how the play happened in real time when they review something frame by frame. its tough to really get that far into a game when it seems the rules can be interpreted in any number of different ways |

Best Summer memory- I got to play Firestone South the weekend after they had the WGC there and was able to break 95 (94) from the member tees (which are about 900 yards shorter than what the pros play). The bunkers at that course are many and cavernous. For a golf nerd though, it was awesome to play at a course with such a pedigree. Play I want to see? Big Will busting through the line on the first snap of the game, almost taking the handoff from the QB and tackling the RB for a 4 yard loss. Would be a great harbinger of things to come. Posnanski spent the better part of the last 2 years in Happy Valley with Paterno and the biography was largely written before any of this scandal came out. I am sure there were some edits made after things broke, but I'm fairly certain it was printed before the end of the Sandusky trial. In short, I wouldn't expect much damnation of Paterno, but in the author's defense, it should be noted his book was written while he (and most of the rest of us) were being fooled. I feel badly for Posnanski, I mean, can you imagine spending 2 years working on something, being away from your wife and kids for large portions of time to do it, and then finding out at the very end that it was all a sham (not your work, but the subject). if we are talking about recievers "in college" then you have to consider CJ with what he had at QB at Georgia Tech. They had CJ and still ran the option. No option QB ever could beat Charles Woodson. They'd be afraid to throw the ball on his side of the field. In my lifetime, its Mr. Woodson and Deion Sanders, in some order.
