Harbaugh's personal assistant is Mick Lombardi, son of Mike Lombardi, who worked with LaCanfora at NFL Network. The whole time Lombardi was the "GM" of the Browns, LaCanfora ran articl after article puffing up his boy, and then tried a takedown of the Browns as soon as Lombardi was canned (when, not even a week before he was supportive of the Browns moves, a total flip-flop).
I'm sure Harbaugh wants more money. He was never coming to the Browns. It may have been a plan cooked up by Lombardi and Harbaugh to make Lombardi seem heroic to Jimmy Haslam (word is that toward the end, Lombardi and banner were trying to cut each other's throats to save themselves) and save his job with the Browns, while Harbaugh uses the levarage for a raise, while Jason LaCanfora gets the scoop.
In my opinion anything coming from laCanfora that is even slightly related to Mike Lombardi is pure hogwash.

Goldhammer is the worst. I can handle Rizz being a Buckeye honk. It's unsurprising and makes sense. I would always turn it off if it was a Buckeye segment. But, AG is the wort thing to ever happen to sports radio in Cleveland since I started listening in the late 80's. I stopped listening to Rizzo because of Goldhammer. I have also crossed paths with him in the past in Lakewood bars, and he's just as obnoxious in person. My Buddy was working the door one night and wouldn't let him in, saying is ID was fake. Goldhammer was apopleptic and it was hysterical.

seriously, Modell became majority owner in 1961. He fired Paul Brown in 1963. The Browns won the 64 NFL title with a team (led by Jim Brown) built largely by Paul Brown. Then he "fired" Jim freaking Brown. The next 30 years, zip. zilch. Nada. The, he took the team to Baltimore. Then the NFL granted the new Browns to Al Lerner, the guy who was unsuccessful in obtaining an NFL franchise for Baltimore when the league expanded with CAR/JAX, who also intorduced Modell to his Baltimore partners to work out a stadium deal on Lerners plane.
Seriously, you can tie everything bad that has ever happened to the Browns back to Art Modell. Burn in hell, Art Modell
|3 weeks 3 days ago||this is not||
a knee jerk job by Haslam. It has been in the works for a little while. Pettine is Haslam's choice, and Farmer was consulted via telephone (he was in Mobile). While Farmer hadn't been told he was in line for a promotion (allegedly), Haslam had already been discussing Banner's exit from the team with Banner a couple of weeks ago (again, rumor). The rumors of Lombardi being forced out have persited on Twitter for a couple of weeks at least. Apparently, he all but promised he could deliver McDaniels before Chud was let go, and, well, that didn't happen. Once that blew up in Lombardi's face, Haslam strted to get the idea that no one around the league has much respect for Lombardi, and that set things in motion.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||This is good news||
no snark intended. Today is a good day for Cleveland Browns fans. Lombardi and Banner could have been replaced with a bent 7 iron and a two-legged tripod and the Browns still would have performed addition by subtraction. Replacing them with actual, honest to God, know what they're doing in their roles people who have the respect of others around the league? Yahtzee! Scheiner and Farmer are both rising stars with a bullet, and I'm glad Haslam didn't futz around and risk losing them because he was worried that the mainstream media would make fun of him.
Rumor is Haslam never wanted Banner to begin with, but Banner was forced on him by the NFL. Ehh whatever, it's all revisionist history now, but at the end of the day, the Browns are better today than they were yesterday.
The only "negativity" you will see/hear about this will come from national media types who are "friends" with Lombardi. Of course they're going to have to take up for their boy. And not for nothing, but they all just lost a good source as well. So, there will be sreeches heard from the national level, plus everyone loves to swing at low hanging fruit.
Good luck Lombardi, maybe your pal Bill Belichik will give you a job in New England like he did after Al Davis fired you. Oh wait, not even Belichik would hire you, BECAUSE YOU SUCK

a good choice for a small MVP bet might be Tukka Rask. Last I saw he was 18-1, and it always seems like in the Olympics, one goalie or another gets hot and puts his team on his back for a while (R. Miller, D Hasek, even Ray LeBlanc in '92).
So, pretty good odds on a guy we've all seen go on an unbelieveable hot streak before.

My Father grew up in Ferndale in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Shortly after we moved from Ferndale to Cleveland, my Father's disdain for the "cheap ass" Ford family that "knew they were going to make money every year no matter how shitty the team was" reached its peak. I remember he and my Uncle talking about how they ruined Billy Sims' career, and my Father vowed to not let me become a fan of the Lions' perpetual misery.
At the same time, my maternal Grandfather lived near us in Cleveland, and he had been a season ticket holder since the Browns AAFC days in the late 40's. So, I ended up becoming a Browns fan.
Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of humor.

|9 weeks 3 days ago||the Kansas game||
was definitely the high water mark of the year for me.
Although, as a Browns fan, I must say when they hired Rob Chudzinski in January, that was a good moment as well. He is obviously building something for the Browns and will surely lead this team to a sustained run of successful football. Sure the first year was bumpy, but with the way the Front office traded away picks and players to stockpile assets for 2014, that was to be expected, especially when having to play QB roulette most weeks. Some people have said he might be"on the hot seat" but only an complete and total moron would fire a guy less than a year after hiring him.

I had the head re-sprayed so that I would not have that color combination anywhere near my golf bag. And I havent put even 1% as much into Michigan football as Taylor Lewan, so it does seem rather unlikely. However, just because they may have wanted to ameliorate their story by adding these "details" it may not change the fact that there could be some substance to this.

that at least 3 if not 4 of the top five picks are going to be QBs. Especially now with the rookie contract slotting, QB needy teams are more willing than ever to jump up for their guy, and with the rule changes the past 10 years or so, QB is more important than ever in the NFL.
Last year was a bit of an anomaly, and this year the media has been pushing QB depth for so long that they're going to build up 4 guys whether they deserve it or not. Their narrative has already changed quite a bit since mariota dropped out, and Murray and Mettenberger cot hurt. Now Blake Bortles is a top 5 guy? I'm skeptical

This is an audition for Kirk for all 31 other teams (well, othe ones that need a QB). The Redskins have very few draft picks, and netting a late first or early second rounder for him might be best for all parties involved. Considering the way he tore up the Browns last season, I wouldn't mind if the Browns used their second first rounder to try and nab him, provided the wheels dont fall off the next three weeks. If the Browns took Sammy Watkins with their pick, and traded for Cousins with the Colts pick, then they'd have Josh Gordon, Jordan Cameron and Sammy Watkins for Cousins to throw the ball to.

I was a student at Bowling Green and living in my fraternity house. Since it was BG, most everyone had another favorite team, and since it was Ohio, most were fans of Ohio State.
For the game, all the OSU fans decided to have a gathering at an off campus location, so I was essentially alone in the house. When the game was over and the OSU fans started trickling in, I could hear them shouting in frustration and slamming doors...I couldn't help myself. I decided to serenade them with "The Victors" whilst running through the halls.
This ended with me at the bottom of a stairwell getting "beaten" by an angry mob. It was totally worth it.

I don't know why people think they have to conclude something immediately. I know why the media tries to sell stories to the public (because they need jobs and they like making money), but I don't know why people are so quick to believe what they see on tv is 100% accurate and feel free to jump to conclusions accordingly.
Also, ESPN is now showing a quote allegedly from a Tallahassee PD officer to Winston's accuser from 11 moths ago telling her something to the effect of "Tallahassee is a big football town. If you make an accusation you, your family and your life are going to be raked over the coas" and presenting it in such a way as to convince their audience this is evidence of impropriety. Now, it could be exactly that. Or it could have been an officer making sure the victim knew exactly what they were in for as far as the court of public opinion goes. The one thing I am certain of is that ESPN is only reporting it to help their ratings, which makes me look at the report with a jaundiced eye.
I have no opinion on the case, because I know essentially nothing about it. All I'm saying is people shouldnt let the media make their minds up for them.

Halloween got cancelled last night and re-scheduled for Saturday. At 5 pm. Unfortunately OSU plays at noon, or there's no way that would have happened.

it turned out my Wife's gyno (who was doing the C-Section) was the Cheerleading captain at Fairmount East when they were all in high school. She is still friends with Coach and his wife today. I know, cool story bro, but it was surreal having a conversation about Michigan football with someone while she had her hands inside my wife.

in Akron that night. It was a Friday wedding because the participants were Buckeye alums and they didn't want the wedding on a Buckeye gameday. All during dinner people kept "stopping by" my table to let me know things were not going so well for Michigan. By the time the 4th quarter rolled around, most of us were in the bar (smoking) area and I gave the bartender $20 to keep the game on, over the protests of a handful of OSU fans.
Such a great night.

and what I am imagining is a scene where the door was open (perhaps DT was trying to hold it shut or close it on them) and during the fracas he jumped up and smacked someone on top of their head over the top of the door? Maybe he's got a "blunt" nail and it caused some scratching?
Also, "manufacture"? It's like...a plant, Man. You don't build plants. Well, maybe like industrial plants, but not like....wait...what were we talking about?

if they did it like the the old school "battle of the network stars" format, have a 100M dash, some passing drills where there are targets in the beds of pickup trucks speeding across the field, obstacle courses, guys wrestling in those fake sumo suits, etc, that'd be awesome.
If they're going down this road (which is at least better than it was) they should go all the way, make it flag football, but then make all 11 guys eligible receivers, and maybe tweak a rule so a backward lateral that is fumbled is simply considered a dead ball. It'd be kind of crazy, but somewheat entertaining.
All that being said, the last time I watched the Pro-Bowl was roughly 1986.

a Taylormade R1. First time ever I am at the forefront of technology. I had a sizable Golf Galaxy store credit from winning an outing, so I decided why not? Found it used for $225. Love the adjustable loft feature. I'm hoping to go play it today.
Also, the RBZ 3 wood is no joke. When they say it adds 15 yards, they are not kidding. In fact, the reason I had to get a new driver is because I was hitting the RBZ 3 wood farther than my old driver.
Ok, this is starting to sound like a commercial...my irons are older Cobras (I love them), and I'm putting with a Odyssey White Ice blade. I may have to switch that up at some point, because the insert seems a bit marshmallowy on longer putts.
The only real advice I'd have for someone is to check out the used club market both online and at retailers like GG and Golfsmith. It really has saved me hundreds of dollars over the last 8-10 years.
Like you, I love my 7 iron. I can hit any shot from 170 and in with it.
And, on a course with a slope in the 120's I'm about a bogey golfer. Funny thing is, whether I play once (these days) or 15 times in a summer (before children), I'm the same. Probably because I have had the same swing since I was 7.

|35 weeks 3 days ago||I spent some years||
at Bowling Green. I was recently depearted when Meyer became the coach there, but a few friends of mine told me they had some unpleasant encounters with him on campus. Nothing major or horribly damning, but suffice to say he's pretty serious about everything (including parking spaces) ALL of the time. I'm sure that intensity has helped him become an excellent coach, and I'm sure he isn't out to "Win friends and influence people" so, take it fwiw. Also, that was over a decade ago, perhaps he has mellowed some since then.

1/4 c smoked paprika, 3/4 cup dark brown sugar, 2 teaspoons cayenne, 1 tablespoon each: garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, cumin,. 2 teaspoons dried oregano.
For a simple "Carolina-esque" sauce, mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and dark brown sugar in a saucepan. Toss in a tablespoon or two of crushed red pepper flakes. Heat on low until sugar is dissolved.

And there's always this classic:
|37 weeks 1 day ago||Why do||
Ohio State Graduates leave thir diplomas on their dashboards?
A: So they can park in handicapped spaces
This one is a bit longer, but my Father loved it, and he's dead, and it was just Father's day, so I'm telling it:
One day a duck walks into a bar and hops up on a barstool. He asks the Bartender, "you got any grapes?" the Bartender says no, so the duck hops down and goes on his way. Next day, Duck walks back into the bar, hops up on the stool and again asks the bartender if they have any grapes. The Bartender says, "No we didnt have any grapes yesterday, and we dont have any grapes today This is a bar. We serve beer and liquor. We dont have any f-ing grapes". The duck hops down off the stool and leaves.
This goes on every day for a week until finally the Bartender loses his patience. On the 7th day, when the duck asks the bartender if he has any grapes, the bartender grabs the duck by the neck and carries him out to the parking lot. In the lot he shoves the duck's face into a telephone pole and says, "look, i told you we dont have any grapes. If you come in here and ask me for grapes one more f-ing time, I'm going to nail your f-ing bill to this f-ing pole. Get the hell out of here"
The duck leaves, but returns to the bar after a couple of days. He hops up on the stool and proceeds to ask the bartender, "You got any nails?" and the bartender says, "No" so the duck says " Well, in that case, you got any grapes?"

my Wife is an OSU alum. She also knows a few Trustees of Ohio State (as in, she knows them on a first name basis). They are tired of him being an embarrassment in the national media. His job is not to be a lightning rod for the University. However, his job description does require him to have good enough discretion to know when NOT to say something that could potentially lead to negative publicity for the university. He has failed to do so on a number of occassions.
I really cannot fathom how in the world this relates to Rich Rodriguez.

they have Michigan tied for 11th most likely to wind the MNC at 28/1 and Sparty at 100/1, so I don't understand all these preseason publications/rankings that have Michigan just barely (if at all) in the top 25.
Like some others above have said, thats fine. I remember pundits talking about how Colorado was going to beat up on us in 1997.

While we're talking about movies did anyone else notice in Bill Simmons' latest column (maybe 2 weeks ago, I dont think he writes much anymore) that he admitted he had never seen any of the "Matrix" movies? I'm pretty sure he was serious. I normally wouldn't care but that seems like a helluva thing for a guy running a pop culture website (and also as someone who has appointed himself a pop cuture guru for years) to admit.
Or maybe Im the only one who finds that odd/interesting
