All of this was made official yesterday and posted on the front page. Florida in 2017 and Ball State in 2018 are still not confirmed.
|19 weeks 3 days ago||Northwestern||
Don't count out Northwestern. Fitzgerald will be there for a long time and has been coaching and recruiting at levels unseen at Northwestern. They will be competitive in the West year in and year out. Nebraska will also be competitive as always (especially if they hire a better coach).
|19 weeks 3 days ago||F+||
This is one of the reasons many of the BCS computers don't start running their algorithms until midseason--there isn't enough relevant data. I believe the Football Outsiders predicted doom and gloom for us, but that was based on pre-season data, which is a horrible data set to analyze for predictive purposes. Now that we are midway through the season, the data set is much, much better (but still not great due to the small sample size), and we should trust them a little more now.
|22 weeks 5 hours ago||Depends on your definition.||
If you include grad schools, Michigan is in the top 15 in the world. If you just look at undergrad, Michigan is a top 30 school in the country. Either way, Michigan is considered a smart school by many. They aren't private though, so they aren't included with "smart" schools like Stanford, Duke, and Vanderbilt.
|22 weeks 4 days ago||Last week.||
That's what we were saying last week though. With the bye week, I do think we have a better chance at coming out strong on Saturday, but we'll see. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.
|23 weeks 2 days ago||Turnovers.||
It's difficult to put up points when we turn the ball over 4-5 times in a game. As long as we regress in the turnover department (which we should), we will stop scoring in the 20s against bad defenses.

|24 weeks 2 days ago||O Line||
I would not be surprised to see Lewan-Bryant-Glasgow-Kalis-Schofield start against Minnesota after the bye week. At this point, I think I would be more surprised if Miller was still the starter in October.

|24 weeks 6 days ago||Awful refs.||
This was a complete screw up by the refs. It was clearly a delay of game on the Arizona State player laying on the ball. I'm glad I'm not a Wisconsin fan.

Lots of positives to take away from this game. It's a good thing T. Gordon will be replacing Furman against Notre Dame since Furman seemed to be our biggest weakness. It's scary to imagine how good this defense will be next year (and the year after, and the year after...).

I could see North Dakota State beating Kansas State in a huge upset. NDSU is coming off back-to-back FCS National Championships while Kansas State lost their Heisman-contending quarterback and should regress quite a bit this year. The only thing going for them is that Bill Snyder is a wizard dressed as a human.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||Impressive.||
That is actually impressive. Hopefully Baumgardner is not such a soothsayer (since I would rather beat Michigan State, go 12-0, and win the Big Ten).

|29 weeks 8 hours ago||Wait.||
You are likely going to have to wait awhile. Michigan and Ohio State will be able to compete with the top SEC teams soon, but the rest of the Big Ten is not going to be so good. The rest of the Big Ten is just not recruiting like even bottom-of-the-pack SEC teams.
|29 weeks 10 hours ago||Brady.||
Tom Brady was not that special during his years at Michigan. Sure he was good, but definitely not "Legend" material.
|29 weeks 2 days ago||(No subject)||
|30 weeks 1 day ago||Wisconsin's 2016 schedule:||
9/3 LSU at Green Bay
9/10 at Virginia Tech (although this is supposedly being pushed back to another year per Twitter)
10/1 at Michigan
10/8 at Michigan State
10/15 Ohio State
10/22 at Iowa
11/19 at Purdue
If Virginia Tech stays on the schedule, that will be a brutal OOC schedule combined with a brutal conference schedule: at Michigan, at Michigan State, Ohio State for the crossovers immediately followed by a string of at Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern. Good luck Wisconsin! For your sake, I hope you're still good in a few years.

|32 weeks 2 days ago||Math major confirming.||
I'm just confirming your numbers. In this scenario, there is a 34.375% chance we lose four or more games. Here are some more probabilities (rounded to make it easier on the eyes):
According to Vegas, the six games you mentioned are roughly toss-ups (all of the spreads are within 3 points). However, the other games are obviously not 100% wins, so take these numbers with a grain of salt.
|32 weeks 3 days ago||For Brian:||

|35 weeks 3 days ago||Well, yeah.||
I realize that Louisville has a good chance to go to a BCS game. I was just doubting that they would be the first at-large pick. I could see them being the second or third at-large, but not the first since a powerhouse team like Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, or Oklahoma would likely be selected ahead of them.
|35 weeks 5 days ago||Louisville?||
They are projecting Clemson to play Louisville in the Orange Bowl. The Orange Bowl gets the ACC champion (so Clemson is fine here), but they also get the first at-large pick this year (after replacements). It is highly unlikely Louisville would be the first at-large pick.
|35 weeks 5 days ago||Oranges.||
I have us in the Orange Bowl. I don't see us winning the conference (because I don't see us beating Ohio State twice in a row), which puts Ohio State in the Rose Bowl (not the NCG since I don't see them beating us twice in a row). If we are eligible for an at-large bid, I see the Orange Bowl taking us since they have the first at-large pick. The only other teams that might trump us would be Notre Dame and/or Texas if they are eligible. I don't see them being eligible though (Notre Dame will regress to say 9 wins and Texas will have at least two losses in a competitive Big 12). So Orange Bowl, here we come!
|35 weeks 6 days ago||Furbush?||
I'm going to go with Noah Furbush. Sam mentioned Tranquill but said he is not on commit watch. I am taking that as a hint that a LB is about to commit. We are in on Furbush, Swain, and Williams. Furbush is the only one who has visited, so I'm guessing it is him.
|35 weeks 6 days ago||Both.||
Why not both? It only takes one hand to type.
|36 weeks 1 day ago||Purdue.||
We don't play Purdue this year.
|36 weeks 2 days ago||Did somebody say specific?||
We beat Central, Akron, Connecticut, Minnesota, Indiana, and Iowa fairly easily (Indiana gives us a scare through three quarters, but we pull away in the fourth). This leaves the good games: Notre Dame, @Penn State, @Michigan State, Nebraska, @Northwestern, and Ohio State. I am not too scared of Penn State or Nebraska, so let's call those wins. We lost some close games last year, so the following might be slightly optimistic in the hope that we regress and things fall our way this year.
Notre Dame: I think our veteran tackles should hold off ND's great line which will allow for Gardner to do well against their secondary. They also aren't as scary with Rees at the helm. UTL2 is again electric and Michigan wins another close one against the Irish. W 17-16
@Michigan State: Our defense should prevent any touchdowns since their offense is going to be terrible. Dantonio and Narduzzi will have to change their gameplan from years past due to our new pro-style offense. We have a bye before this game, which will help the good guys pull it out in East Lansing. W 16-9
@Northwestern: This is the middle game of a brutal November stretch. After physical games against Michigan State and Nebraska, Michigan drops one on the road to an experienced Northwestern team. This could be another overtime game with the home team coming out on top. L 30-24 (OT)
Ohio State: Another classic game. This should be a coin flip, so I will give it to the home team. W 31-28 Which leads to...
Ohio State (part two): As it is exceptionally difficult to beat a great team twice in a row, I am afraid I must give this one to the Buckeyes. L 27-21
I have us finishing 11-2 with losses to Northwestern and Ohio State. Ohio State goes to the Rose Bowl to face Oregon (since Stanford will play Alabama in the NCG). With the first at-large bid, the Orange Bowl selects an 11-2 Michigan team to face the ACC champion (let's just say Clemson--could be Florida State or dark horse Miami (YTM) as well).
Around the Big Ten: Ohio State 11-2 (7-2), Michigan 11-2 (7-2), Nebraska 9-3 (6-2), Northwestern 9-3 (5-3), Michigan State 8-4 (5-3), Wisconsin 8-4 (5-3), Penn State 7-5 (3-5), Indiana 6-6 (3-5), Minnesota 6-6 (3-5), Iowa 5-7 (2-6), Purdue 4-8 (2-6), Illinois 3-9 (1-7).
Bold Predictions: Minnesota beats Wisconsin. Indiana makes a bowl game(!).
Around the NCAA: Alabama wins three in a row with a win over Stanford in the NCG. South Carolina is undefeated when they lose a close one to Alabama in the SEC CG. There will be a tie atop the Big 12 standings between two to five of Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Oklahoma, and Baylor. Even if Louisville goes undefeated, they will not make it into the championship game.
|36 weeks 2 days ago||Predictions for future years.||
Your numbers are a little off. You have us going to the Big Ten Championship game five years in a row, which seems unlikely since we will share a division with Ohio State. Moreover, if we were to win the National Championship in 2017, we would need to go 15-0 (or possibly 14-1).
|36 weeks 4 days ago||2015 class||
Assuming we end up grayshirting Brady Pallante, this is effectively the second commit for 2015. This class is going to fill up quite quickly since there is strong interest from many players (Runyan Jr, Crawford, Weber, Harris, Campbell, Cole, etc) and the class size is going to be very small (13+attrition last I heard).
|36 weeks 4 days ago||Good point.||
That's a good point. I had forgotten that we needed a kicker in this class. Hopefully J. J. McGrath (2013 walk on) provides some competition as well.
|36 weeks 4 days ago||Surprising.||
I'm surprised the coaches offered a scholarship to a kicker in this class since it's going to be a very small class. Interesting. Regardless, welcome to the family, Andrew!

I don't think the comparison of Davos to Bronn is a good one. Bronn is a minor character while Davos is a major one (he gets a POV, he is Hand of the King, has an important arc, etc). The characters are also as different as can be (Davos is probably the most moral character and Bronn is an amoral sellsword).

|39 weeks 2 days ago||USC or Washington, but mainly USC.||
We desperately need a good home game for 2016 due to the MSU switch. Our open date is 9/10, and the only West Coast teams who have an opening on 9/10 are USC and Washington. Washington is a strong candidate since they don't have any OOC games scheduled for 2016 yet. USC plays Notre Dame in 2016; however, they play them at home, and they tend to schedule aggressively, so I could see this happening as well.
I'm really hoping for USC here so we can get revenge for the '04 and '07 Rose Bowls and tie the series back up. Since Brandon said, "major West Coast team," I think that gives more support for USC, since "major" may be an exaggeration for Washington considering they have been pretty down for a while now. Also, scheduling USC at home in 2016 would sell season tickets and drive up demand much more than Washington. The Trojans haven't played in the Big House since 1958. I think it's about time they came back.

|39 weeks 5 days ago||Fantastic.||
It's about time we add another bowl in (or at least really close to) our conference footprint. Bring on the snow! How great would it be for a Big Ten team (hopefully not us, since we should aim for the BCS) to play a team like Miami, Georgia Tech, or one of the North Carolina teams in the snow?

|41 weeks 1 day ago||Texas or UCLA, but mainly UCLA.||
The idea of a long-term series with a strong opponent is a longshot, but I would vote for either UCLA or Texas, with the slight edge to UCLA. Why? First I eliminated teams who would likely not accept the offer due to current long-term series with strong OOC opponents (Stanford, USC, Florida, Florida State, and South Carolina). Then I eliminated teams with poor recruiting grounds (Arizona and Oregon). That leaves us with LSU, Texas, and UCLA.
These teams are all located in exceptionally fertile recruiting grounds. I think it would be harder to pull kids from Louisiana (since almost all the good talent there goes to SEC teams), so let's eliminate LSU. That leaves Texas and UCLA. Texas is a historical powerhouse, so that would be fun. However, if we played UCLA in Pasadena every other year, that would give us some familiarity with the Rose Bowl, which could be good for our team come the post-season. Also, UCLA is more similar to Michigan academically (two of the top three public research universities in the world--the other being Cal). It would also help with recruiting since players would be guaranteed to play in southern California two or three times in their career. Win-win-win.

|42 weeks 16 hours ago||LSU||
I think his point is that LSU leads (or is in good position) for 6 consensus five stars right now (listed by 247 Composite rank--247 Crystal Ball in parentheses)
1. Leonard Fournette (90%)
3. Cameron Robinson (50%)
10. Tony Brown (100%)
16. Laurence Jones (100%)
32. Gerald Willis (100%)
35. Clifton Garrett (100%)
37. Malachi Dupre (100%) (second highest four-star)
If LSU lands that much talent as expected, they are going to be extremely difficult to pass. Although we are leading now, LSU will almost certainly pass us (same with Alabama).

|42 weeks 1 day ago||Armchair AD||
As far as Michigan's home slate being awful in 2014, I have a potential solution. Brandon could cancel the Notre Dame game (which is away) and schedule a home-and-home with either LSU or Texas A&M. They have no big names on their 2014 OOC schedules, and we desperately need a good home game to reward our season ticket holders. Sounds like a win-win to me. We could then return to either of them in 2017, which would work out with everyone's schedules. Other less exciting teams we might be able to bring in are Texas Tech, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt.
Notes: We have never played LSU(!) and we've only played A&M three times--the last was a loss in the 1995 Alamo Bowl. The LSU game would also have the Les Miles storyline.

If so, he's going to Kansas. Uh-oh.
|42 weeks 2 days ago||Thanks for the Kudos.||
Are you sending them by mail? M&M or bust.
|42 weeks 3 days ago||Furbush.||
We are looking at Noah Furbush (an Ohio kid) and more recently we've shown growing interest in Jimmie Swain out of Missouri.
|42 weeks 5 days ago||Looks like.||
It looks like the coaches decided they don't really need another MIKE (especially an undersized MIKE like Watson), so they decided to cool on him and start recruiting others (like Winovich and Furbush) harder.
|42 weeks 5 days ago||Watson.||
From what I've heard on the Scout boards (via Sam Webb), it's looking like things have taken a big turn with Watson. Webb said he would be surprised to see him in this class now. Let's hope that things work out with Chase!

If it were the twosie, he would have. Why, Taylor, why?!
|42 weeks 5 days ago||Slow.||
Yes, it was a slow episode. However, it was also a great episode. The writing, acting, directing, and cinematography were fantastic. The production value has been noticeably better this season.
There were also some great scenes: Tywin and Joffrey's discussion in the throne room, the continued torture of Theon except with a twist, the negotiations between Daenerys and the Yunkai'i, etc. In fact, I can't think of one bad scene in this episode (except for maybe Orell hitting on Ygritte).
|42 weeks 6 days ago||Hoke.||
Hoke, Hoke, Hoke, Hoke, Hoke, Hoke, Hoke. It's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault.
|43 weeks 1 day ago||Notre Dame.||
This makes me think that the Notre Dame series is done indefinitely. We are supposed to start playing them again in 2020, but this announcement makes me think there will be an even longer delay. Otherwise we are going to have a very challenging schedule playing 9 Big Ten games, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame. Although, the new playoff format will supposedly emphasize strength of schedule, so maybe Brandon wants to go this route.

At first I thought this was for the EDSBS charity thing, and I was like, "Wow, Ross must really want to win this damn thing!" Now I am going to go bask in my stupidity.
|44 weeks 2 days ago||I think||
Texas A&M has had a super successful year, they are on a huge upswing, and they recenlty bailed the Big XII. In the meantime, Texas has had a few down years. Texas is probably mad due to all of A&M's recent success under the current circumstances, not just the plans to build a bigger stadium.
|44 weeks 2 days ago||Not true.||
That doesn't make any sense at all. You could be second, third, fourth...hell, you could even be fifth!

It's SIAP and it means "Sorry If Already Posted."

|44 weeks 5 days ago||Purdue wins.||
Purdue is in the easier division and has a protected game with Indiana. They will have the easiest schedule in the Big Ten most years.
|44 weeks 5 days ago||I do.||
No need to buckle up. The article just brings us up to date on Bushell-Beatty and Peppers. Bushell-Beatty will likely decide in the next two months--Michigan is the leader, but he is also considering Wisconsin and Florida. Peppers, as we already deduced a few days ago, is going to take a visit to Stanford this summer before he makes a decision.
|44 weeks 5 days ago||Goodbye, Sparty.||
Goodbye, Sparty. I hope you enjoyed your two good seasons.
|44 weeks 6 days ago||Guess.||
If I had to guess, I would say that we will get Rutgers on the road in 2014 and at home in 2015. Our main competition for the division title will be Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, and Rutgers. This year (an odd year) we play Ohio State at home and Michigan State and Penn State on the road. To balance it out, we should play Rutgers at home in odd years.
Moreover, I think this means we will play Maryland on the road so that we travel to the east coast once per year. So my guess is the schedule (division opponents only) will look like this:
2014 - Michigan State, Penn State, Maryland, @Indiana, @Rutgers, @Ohio State
2015 - The opposite.
|44 weeks 6 days ago||THIS SUMMER||
THIS SUMMER, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER IS...LITTLE TORTILLA BOY!
|45 weeks 1 day ago||Better.||
Michigan and Ohio State are going to be much better than Nebraska and Wisconsin, at least if we project based on recruiting and coaching. Michigan State would actually be able to compete with Nebraska and Wisconsin every year while they would certainly struggle to compete in the much stronger East division.

I'm sure Ace will tell us tomorrow in his Hello post.

I heard Brady Hoke is going to the NFL soon. Has anyone else heard that?
|46 weeks 3 days ago||You called?||
|46 weeks 4 days ago||He recently said||
He recently said that he thought about things and is leaning towards staying close to home now.
|46 weeks 5 days ago||Closest to home.||
Ann Arbor is just barely closest to home (Chatham, IL) though. We have Ole Miss beat by a mere 38 miles (by car). I found this surprising, which is why I'm posting.
|46 weeks 6 days ago||Lewan.||
The only reason I am correcting you is because you made the same mistake twice. It's Lewan, not Llewan.
|46 weeks 6 days ago||That is great news!||
Who looks better at RG? How is Kalis doing?
|47 weeks 1 day ago||No cigar.||
Close. Quinnipiac is in Hamden, which is just north of New Haven. Regardless, these schools are only 15 minutes away from each other, which is crazy.
|47 weeks 1 day ago||Wine coolers.||
You should ask him what his favorite flavor of wine cooler is. Moreover, you should ask him why he prefers to pee while sitting down.
|47 weeks 2 days ago||Babes in Toyland||
Oh, it's just a movie I grew up on. It's so bad that it's good. Kind of like Mortal Kombat, except weirder.

I'm going to a nice beer bar in town tonight. I'm not sure what I'm going to enjoy--perhaps a nice Hefeweizen to celebrate the onset of the spring weather.

His defense wasn't nearly as spectacular in the tournament since the refs actually called his go-to hand-check move.

|48 weeks 14 hours ago||They did.||
Michigan won the NIT in 2004 under Amaker. They also won it in 1984 and 1997 (although the latter was vacated). I think we are interpreting jaylee714's question differently. I read it as, "When was the last time Big Ten teams won both the NCAA and NIT in the same year?" whereas I think you are reading it as, "Which Big Ten teams have won both the NCAA and NIT at some point in their program's history?"
