...the plan was for him to come with a couple Paramus Catholic teammates. People tend to lump all the New Jersey recruits together, but Gary wasn't a part of that Ron Johnson-Brad Hawkins-Ahmir Mitchell-Cesar Ruiz-Naseir Upshur (Upshur's from PA, but close with those guys) group.
Plus, Mitchell isn't certain he's coming to the BBQ. I don't think it's as simple as Gary deciding not to hit up someone else and ask for a ride. (That's also a big favor to ask if you're not already good friends with someone.) Like I said, from all appearances, Gary did everything he reasonably could to make this trip happen. Me saying that probably isn't going to stop people from freaking out, but it's worth saying again.
EDIT: Also, just did a quick search on Google Maps. Paramus Catholic is 2+ hours away from Camden and Mitchell's hometown (Egg Harbor) is even farther away.

FWIW, Onwenu and Bredeson weren't under consideration for this, or they'd—at least for me—be the clear #1 and #2 in some order. Those two weren't satellite camp commits so they didn't fit the question.

...to suggest Michigan is a viable option for Tagaloa, and I'm pretty sure he's more of a DT prospect, regardless. Steve Lorenz has been pretty consistent in saying M is very much in the mix for Hawaiian prospect Michael Eletise, and he'd most likely be a center in this class.

...after seeing the Seattle Times report. I think you're very much misinterpreting the post. I think Frank Clark deserves a shot in the NFL. The way Seattle handled the investigation—poorly, in a way that has drawn a major PR backlash that could lead to Clark getting cut to save face—negatively affects Clark's opportunity to get that shot. There's a reason I said this post hurts everyone involved, and I don't think it's fair to anyone, even though Clark is far from a sympathetic figure.
If Seattle had simply acknowleged Clark's actions, stated concern regarding the police report and witness statements, and said they'd provide an environment in which they believe they could support Clark as both a football player and a human being, I wouldn't have written this post today no matter what round Clark was drafted. By not doing so, Seattle hurt everyone involved, including themselves, not that I have any sympathy for the organization itself.

The deadline loomed and it totally slipped my mind. Brad Wing Forever.
|31 weeks 1 day ago||Not really.||
This staff had to start from behind with just about every prospect they've recruited; considering those circumstances, I'm pretty impressed with how they've positioned themselves with a lot of the blue-chippers they're going after. They're going to miss on a lot of them (the vast majority of them, really), because that's how recruiting works, but they haven't even really started peppering the Midwest with offers—they're mostly sticking to high-level national recruits in top talent-producing states.
I don't think it's going to take too much longer for them to land a commit, and when that happens I think the pace will pick up pretty quickly.
|31 weeks 5 days ago||At this juncture...||
...I don't think that's something they have to worry about too much. Most of the early offers have gone out to high-level prospects being pursued by several top programs. Those aren't the guys who are going to commit early, for the most part. Most of the three-star-and-below prospects who've received offers have offer sheets suggesting they'll be rated higher at the end of the cycle.
It's early yet for Michigan to be offering the level of prospect who'd jump at an offer and potentially take a spot from a higher-rated guy. The staff, as best I can tell, manages this through the timing of their offers; we haven't heard anything about levels of committable offers yet.
|32 weeks 1 day ago||It's going well.||

|34 weeks 6 days ago||On the basketball front...||
From attending a lot of Beilein's pressers, I can say he's very reticent to discuss X's and O's or certain elements of his strategy. While he'll discuss strategy in broad terms, he doesn't often delve into specifics. Still gives a decent presser compared to a lot of coaches, but most of the questions people here would be interested in would be things he wouldn't answer in much detail.
There's no coordinator availability like there is for football, so I wouldn't be able to ask BA or Jordan instead.
|35 weeks 4 hours ago||DTs||
The staff hasn't targeted anyone in this class, but that's going to be the top priority in 2016. Obviously Rashan Gary is one of the top targets on the board, and they've got a pretty good shot at landing him.

There are plenty of interested players, and "banking" scholarships is usually a bad idea in football—creates the type of holes in the depth chart Michigan has been struggling to fill for years now. For instance, with Bosch now out the door, they really need to grab a couple O-linemen or there's going to be a serious lack of upperclassmen after the 2013 group (and Mason Cole, who didn't redshirt) graduates.

|41 weeks 4 days ago||I'm not a doctor...||
...and the only way I got a proper diagnosis was by seeing several of them. I'd strongly recommend against trying to diagnose yourself online. With my symptoms, I was told via WebMD or various forums (including this one) that I could have anything from Crohn's to lupus to histamine intolerance to... you name it, really. I don't think one person got it right.
If you're having those issues, give your primary care physician as much information as you can possibly assemble about your symptoms and push him/her to get you to as many specialists as seem appropriate. That's the best advice I can give; it's how I approached the issue this time around and it seems to be working.
|41 weeks 4 days ago||I posted an update...||
...in the Arizona preview last week. People are still misinterpreting some of that, so I'll try to clarify.
I want to make it abundantly clear that I don't have a diagnosis; Seth read my Twitter post, got that wrong, and didn't talk to me before posting that. I tested positive for adrenal insufficiency and have begun treatment on hydrocortisone, and my initial response has been positive, but I still don't know whether it's primary or secondary—my endocrinologist actually suggested in my follow-up appointment Wednesday morning that it's likely secondary. I'm still awaiting test results on that, as well as biopsy results from my colonoscopy/endoscopy, and there's still almost certainly a need to see a rheumatologist to figure out what's driving the gland issues.
I'm back right now in a limited capacity. My weight has improved, though over the last couple days it's fluctuated a bit; I'm hanging down around 120 pounds today. There's been significant progress and I'm generally feeling better, but I'm still not planning to cover games in person this month—those are a huge stress on me physically and I can't afford to take many steps back right now.
Overall, things are moving very much in the right direction, but there's still a long way to go. The good news is I've worked through these issues while being un- or mis-diagnosed for nearly four years; I know how to push through while being physically limited, which I'll most likely have to do since the timetable for returning to normalcy after a decade of untreated adrenal insufficiency can—and likely will—span months. My hope is to be feeling normal by the summer barring a diagnosis that would change that outlook.
|43 weeks 3 days ago||Thank you, everyone.||
Once again, the outpouring of support from this community is damn near overwhelming (in a good way, of course). I'm very lucky to be a part of this. I'm in high spirits, settled in for a weekend of football—and, uh, hopefully a basketball victory—and very confident I'll be back at full strength before long.
|45 weeks 4 days ago||Oops.||
|45 weeks 4 days ago||The larger point...||
...that I perhaps didn't make clear enough, is that from my perch on press row—which provided the ideal view for seeing this play unfold—it was very, very obvious Walton planned to do exactly what he did from the moment he got the ball. He was in total control in transition last night, that's become the norm for him, and he's seeing the court remarkably well.
|45 weeks 4 days ago||Fine, then.||

|45 weeks 6 days ago||Statistically, sure.||
Which is why I also looked at Irvin's sample from last year. Oh, and watched the tape of every single shot from this season to perhaps pick up on some trends, which I then expanded upon.
If we're going to wait for sample sizes to be big enough, might as well just not write about basketball until February or so. I don't think that's the way to go, nor do I believe that small samples make it impossible to learn things about the team so long as there's information utilized aside from pure statistics.
In short: come on, read the post, including the explicitly stated sample size caveat. If you can't do that, feel free to just move along.

Okay, here goes. Jake Ryan would get a star if Jake Ryan still played strongside linebacker in an under front. That's not the case. He's a MIKE in an over, and while he's decent, he's not a star at that position—this site prides itself on the UFRs, which bear that out, and not relying on stuff like Big Ten Whatever Of The Week. (Remember Brandon Herron, National Defensive Player Of The Week? He started one game that season.)
Seth does the diagrams each week. He put Jake Ryan on the cover of HTTV. If he thought Ryan merited a star, he'd have one. He doesn't, and I agree with the decision.

|1 year 1 week ago||Yikes.||
Blocked. Sorry it stayed up that long. People who are confused by this and the following several comments—there's a deleted post in this thread that very much merited the reaction.
|1 year 1 week ago||Right, I get those two confused for some reason.||
Both have ten carries on the year to Edwards' 16, while Cobb's at 92, so neither seem to be a big factor in the offense this year.
|1 year 1 week ago||Yeah...||
...they ran one jet sweep with Edwards in this game (very short gain) and faked one or two more. The other RB backup—Rodrick Williams, the aforementioned former starter—only saw action on special teams; he's been almost entirely phased out of their gameplan, it appears. Cobb took just about every snap.
Oh, and no bubble screens or even fakes in this game. I know they're in the offense with Leidner, so I can only assume Streveler isn't very comfortable throwing them; either that or with how well the run game was going they just didn't need a constraint play at all.
|1 year 1 week ago||That's not true.||
Not sure which chart you're looking at, but Connelly has their most likely B1G record as 6-2 (31.1% chance) with an almost exactly equal chance of finishing 7-1 or 8-0. There's also a big chart near the top with the expected wins for each team, and it has MSU at a very reasonable 5.83. Not saying these rankings are perfect (they aren't), but that looks totally fair to me.
|1 year 1 week ago||I understand this sentiment.||
I really do. But seeing this comment after spending Friday night at Wayne State, then several hours editing video and writing this post over the last couple days... well, I'd prefer if you just kept that thought to yourself, Don.

no, that did not happen.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||Haven't seen enough of him...||
...in the secondary to get a great feel for how he'd fit on defense, though obviously MSU recruiting him on that side is a positive sign. I'll say this: he's really good with the ball in space and is a tough runner for his size, so utilizing him in the slot like Michigan does Norfleet has a lot of potential. I'm just not sure you want to take the ball out of Kelly's hands. He's a heck of a playmaker.

I got extremely lucky—my physician went above and beyond in continuing to question my initial diagnosis and eventually coming across the right one, but in my experience (and hearing those of others) that's far more the exception than the rule. ...but thus far the GF cookbooks I've found have been a little underwhelming—one, in fact, didn't properly identify which ingredients/foods to avoid, and I was able to recognize this despite being very early on in educating myself about the allergy.
The internet has far better resources. I just got directed to this site as a result of posting this, and it looks quite promising.
Also, if those are your symptoms, they're very similar to mine; I obviously am not a doctor, but in my experience it certainly wouldn't hurt to try to go GF for a while and see if matters improve. I hope you can find a solution, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to email me.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Agreed here.||
Especially if Jake Butt is playing, Michigan should be content to trot out three receivers and mess with ND's safeties using the flex TE. If he's in there, he'll be attacking the middle of the field.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||No.||
No. Te'o was about 20 pounds heavier than Smith, at least in the latter part of his career, which helped him take on blocks and hold up against the run. Smith's athleticism is just outrageous for a linebacker, so while he's not necessarily going to knock a guard back, he does well enough just by being really hard to corral.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Thanks for giving that side.||
I'm pretty much in agreement; he's clearly a phenomenal athlete and is well on his way to reaching his prodigious potential. My writeup may not have been entirely fair to him; I think a lot of his lack of impact was due to the lack of opportunities to make one, like you said—he had to cover a ton of ground and did well with it.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Could definitely happen.||
ND looked susceptible to passes out of the backfield, especially if Schmidt ended up on a back. I do expect Michigan to focus more on screens and the like to take advantage, however, instead of tipping their hand with personnel.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Nothing official.||
There's no official word on whether Jake Butt will play or if Graham Glasgow will start; those are Seth's educated guesses. I'm pretty confident that will end up being the lineup.

Yeah, I can understand that perspective; McDaniel looked decent enough, but aside from not blowing the occasional assignment it looks like he's well behind the other two in pretty much every regard. Bryant, especially, looked really good on his runs; does a really nice job of planting and getting upfield.

I'll be consuming a lemon myself, and will write a post next week with the video and details about the cause—this nine-year-old's video (that I happened to stumble across thanks to WolverineDevotee's hashtag) was the inspiration, and I'll explain my personal connection to this next week:
|1 year 5 weeks ago||Patience...||
He's one game into his sophomore season. I bet he'll get an offer. I also bet the coaches would like to look at a few of their 2017 WR options before throwing that offer out there.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||Trust me.||
If there's relevant news on KLS, I will post it. With football season starting, recruiting news tends to slow down for a little bit.
Right now he's in the same spot he's been in for a long time. UCLA and Michigan are getting the most buzz, he'll visit officially for the PSU game, and he's also got officials set up to Oregon and Oklahoma.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||Lemon.||
I speak for the people, Brian. And justice.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||They listed him on the depth chart for the game.||
One outlet has him as "questionable" to play; everything else I've seen assumes he'll be in there. If he sits, that obviously changes the look of their offense quite a bit.

...and if he's worthy of a Michigan offer, it'll be because he's really developed late—certainly not out of the question. The only Big Ten schools to offer him have been Illinois and Indiana; other than Wake Forest (where he's committed), the rest of his offer sheet consists of MAC schools.
He was at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp, so the coaches have certainly seen him in action; he also camped at Ohio State. I think the offer sheet tells you how coaches currently view him: a solid talent, but not one who merits top-level offers, at least not yet.

...on their skill-sets, the relative lack of redshirting in college hoops, and the general makeup of the roster, I'd be pretty surprised if either MAAR or Dawkins redshirted. MAAR is reportedly doing well handling the ball, he's getting to the line a ton, and he's got a good reputation on the defensive end. Dawkins is supposedly the best athlete on the team. They may not get a ton of time, but I think Beilein will find a role for both.
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Major caveat:||
It's one fan watching one game. In the first game, Doyle didn't record a single rebound, while Donnal had five (including three offensive) and went 2/3 from the field. Plus, they're playing under FIBA rules, so there's a 24-second clock—it's hard to write off a guy based on one or two games played under different rules, especially when very few of us actually get to watch them.

(Also, I think Brian would fire me if I made this list without including Norfleet.)

This was my first Mattison press scrum—and before I continue, I must thank Adam for transcribing this, it was a solid 20 minutes of audio—and I managed to find myself in the very front. (Everybody bolted for Nussmeier when the coordinators came out. They spoke at the same time in different parts of the room. Thankfully, there were two of us there.)
I thought I gave a pretty wide berth, but when Mattison started getting to the good stuff, he nearly knocked the phone out of my hand several times. I was right in the fist pump/lineman punch path.
It wasn't hard to tell he's excited about this defense.

I can confirm that he doesn't yell everything in real life. In fact, he was one of the more laid-back guys I interviewed on Sunday.
|1 year 7 weeks ago||Not at all.||
A couple times he started to answer a question and then stopped himself. I think the offensive players were told to keep things a little more under wraps than the defensive guys—at least, it came off that way. I've interviewed Dawson a couple times before; not confrontational at all, just doesn't mince his words.

Coaches will still be in contact, sure. But calls from recruiting reporters get a whole lot less frequent after a commitment, and that can mean a lot if a player is getting serious attention from a lot of big-time schools—at this point, just about every major D-I school has 3-4 dedicated recruiting outlets (Rivals, Scout, 247, a few on ESPN) plus local papers, blogs, etc. publishing recruiting stuff, as well.
For what it's worth, I'd be in favor of an early signing period for football, especially (critically) if they also allowed prospects to use official visits before their senior year begins.

I'd put the secondary up there with any in the conference, potentially including MSU if their new starters aren't quite up to the standard of their predecessors. The receiving corps is so deep and has such a top-flight talent in Funchess that I'd put them above any aside from Maryland, and Michigan has the advantage of a much better quarterback throwing to those guys.
The linebackers are in the Notre Dame O-line tier, to me ... lots of talent, much of it proven, but a few question marks (how does Ryan's game translate to the MIKE, especially) that keep the group from being sure-fire elite.
|1 year 12 weeks ago||I'm not sure, man.||

|1 year 12 weeks ago||Just checked around...||
...it looks like he's attending Alabama's camp, which started yesterday. The GBW guys (read: Sam Webb) seem to feel strongly that he'll end up at Michigan, or at least that U-M had the best shot heading into this round of visits (same goes for Roseboro, FWIW). Likewise for the 247 crew, and while Alabama insiders also seem relatively confident, that seems like a holdover from his past comments about them. The Tide are certainly a threat, and I wouldn't rule out Auburn either, but Michigan looks quite good here.

They're trying to get a package centering on David Lee/Klay Thompson from the Warriors. That's a lot more than bad contracts/bad attitudes. Agree that teams in this position don't often get the value back that they give away, but... well, that's probably on the Timberwolves for failing miserably at building a team around Love. Regardless, Love is good enough that they'll get something quite viable in return—too many suitors for them to get left with scraps.

I agree with most of this. The 247 Composite team rankings made them totally redundant, and those posts took longer to put together than any of my other regular posts, recruiting roundups included. Updating every rankings change for every commit from 14 different teams is a lot of really boring work, and 247 now does it automatically.
FYI, Clark's commitment moved U-M up to fifth in the Big Ten team rankings, one spot behind Ohio State. Penn State is assembling a very strong class at the top, but Wisconsin and Nebraska (#2 and #3, respectively) are ahead based on sheer volume of commits at this point.

Scout has released 2016 rankings, so those are factored into the composite rankings. DeWeaver just isn't on the Scout list. Like I said, they've only evaluated 25 QBs in the class so far, and they gave a fair number of those guys three stars. That list will change a lot.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||I don't think so.||
Even though I don't think Michigan was the favorite to land Cornell (probably ND), he planned to visit campus after SMSB and had U-M among his top group with a decision date closing in. If the coaches wanted him, even if they thought they were behind, they'd at least have brought him on campus and tried to wow him on the visit.
I'm not saying the rationale is necessarily the truth in every case, but I believe it here, especially given that Sam Webb is the source.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||Unrelated to each other.||
KLS is being recruited as a weakside DE. Cornell was being recruited as a WDE initially, but he's clearly outgrown that position and gone right into DT territory. Michigan wants a WDE; they don't have need or room in the class for a DT. Dropping Cornell has nothing to do with KLS.

Seriously, I forgot how bad this defensive class ended up being until I passed the point of no return for writing this post. The offense features 100% more dilithium, as well as a couple NFL tackles and a Jeremy Gallon, so that trip down memory lane will be a lot more fun.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||For future reference:||
Brian pretty much always has the noon window for posting. Unless things get off schedule (like last week with the Isaac commitment), recruiting roundups are posted at 2(-ish) on Mondays and Thursdays. It's especially helpful to wait to put together the roundups on Mondays, since usually there's lots of stuff going on over the weekend that gets written up on Monday morning on the recruiting sites.
It may not always look like it, but there is some method to the madness around here.

The site stats are publicly available here. There's no question the success of the team affects the traffic on the blog—you can see that traffic slowly grew during the 2011 season, when the team was doing well, and in each of the last two years traffic has remained pretty stagnant during the season (and that's despite the basketball team providing a nice boost near the end of those two seasons, too).
|1 year 18 weeks ago||The coaches hold up their end.||
To use a real-life example, they told four-star linebackers Alex Anzalone and Shane Jones not to visit once they knew Ben Gedeon was going to commit. I'd dig up a link, but that one's relatively common knowledge.
If one of the Cali QBs wanted to visit, it's too late—the coaches offered them early, tried to get them on campus (and did, in the case of Josh Rosen), and the outlook wasn't good for landing any of them, so they moved on. If the coaches didn't feel comfortable with Malzone as the quarterback in the class, they wouldn't have offered him.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||They weren't going after||
They weren't going after other cornerbacks until Crawford decided to take visits. Crawford decommitted because he's always really liked Notre Dame—they were the prohibitive favorite until Michigan offered and ND didn't until months later, after they'd changed defensive coordinators. Just because Michigan commits don't take visits doesn't mean other coaches stop recruiting them...

There's way too much of this to get into serious detail, and it's a really nice day anyway, but here's a short response:
Of course it's all hypothetical. The stated premise of the entire article was to use examples of things that could have happened if the policy had not been in place. I used the word 'hypothetical' in a comment above this; perhaps you missed it.
It's also informed by far more information than you seem to think; occasionally, you have to read between the lines, and perhaps consider the fact that, in three years of working and interacting closely with several recruiting reporters and a well-connected boss, I may be privy to information I can't just flat-out say in a post.

|1 year 18 weeks ago||To those Sparties:||
Connor Cook dropping this far isn't necessarily a statement about his ability as much as it is a product of the strategy behind these drafts. At this point, Brian and BiSB have their quarterbacks. A couple very solid options—Cook and Christian Hackenberg—are still on the board. Instead of drafting a QB before we have to, Seth and I are building strength at other positions (well, hypothetically, in Seth's case) and waiting for the other to blink first.
Stay tuned, because this gets real interesting later.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I got trustworthy insider info...||
...at one point during McDowell's recruitment that he was on the verge of a commitment, to the point that there's a Hello post draft saved somewhere that'll never see the light of day. It's clear after everything that went down that when all was said and done he preferred Michigan State, and his parents were the ones pushing for a Michigan commitment. I'm not saying McDowell wouldn't stick to his pledge—in fact, he stuck to his guns even in the face of enormous public and private pressure from his parents once he decided he wanted to go to MSU.
My statement is simply that, with all else being the same, I believe McDowell would've ended up at MSU whether or not he'd have committed to Michigan at one point. The fact that he didn't is a testament to his will to go to the school he really wanted to go to, not the one his parents wanted him to choose. I find that admirable. What's in the post is a hypothetical, nothing more.

You're complaining about an offhand joke made in parentheses about the possibility that Michigan could lose their most talented offensive player after next season. I definitely don't hate sports. I'm pretty sure I have a very reasonable outlook on sports, and a track record to back that up. Maybe, somewhere in that likelihood of yours, is the chance you're taking one word far too seriously.

|1 year 19 weeks ago||FWIW||
Even with his senior season, I'd put Morris in the top category. Tons of talent, very high rankings even after the dropoff, huge amounts of hype, and he has an artillery piece connected to his left shoulder.
There was plenty of trepidation about Gardner's wonky passing motion and accuracy out of high school, too...
|1 year 19 weeks ago||When we first did this...||
...we did a whole roundtable after the season in which we picked All-B1G teams, raked our original picks over the coals, and ranked each of the MGoTeams 1-4. Seth's squad won by a 2-1-1 split decision, though it's worth noting Heiko voted for his own, totally ludicrous, team.
Last year we didn't get around to doing a draft because we completely underestimated how much time the HTTV hoops/hockey edition would take to put together. We're a little more on top of things this year.

The most likely backup candidate is redshirt sophomore Cardale Jones, who, yes, is still playing both football and school. He's huge now (6'5", 250), but not near the same level of explosive runner as Miller, and the jury's still out on his accuracy, too. Should be an interesting situation to monitor.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||It's called playful banter.||
And, like, I did bring up John Cooper in the very first question over here. It cuts both ways.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||Agree on a lot of this, but...||
...defense is a significant concern, one I probably should've highlighted more in my response. UConn's offense may have been extremely guard-driven, but they also had a seven-foot center playing 40% of their minutes who posted a 15% block rate, fifth-best nationally. Rim protection is a big deal, especially with the way charges are being called now.
Even though Michigan hasn't boasted a real shot-blocker, just having solidly built centers inside to alter shots helps the defense. I don't see the team getting better in that regard unless one of the freshmen really surprises. With the offense almost inevitably taking a (hopefully small) step back next season, that's gonna be a problem.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||Hey, Jordan...||
...were you a legit college center?
|1 year 21 weeks ago||Per hoop-math:||
In halfcourt sets this season, Robinson shot 49/63 (78%) at the rim, easily the best mark among non-centers and better than anyone on the team save Jon Horford (33/38), who did so on far fewer shots and with the benefit of more wide open looks and putbacks. GRIII was assisted on just 57% of those makes.
I don't know what games you were watching, but we didn't see the same thing.

#11 on the West (white) team. Just tuned in, had to look it up—those jerseys are horrible.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||To be clear...||
I don't blame much of this year's schedule on Brandon—note I don't do that in the post. I do blame him for scheduling App. St. instead of even a half-decent opponent that wouldn't conjure up horrible memories for everyone in attendance, but that's just a small part of the issue. I'm not sure how much responsibility falls on him for allowing the Big Ten to schedule back-to-back road games at MSU, but it certainly doesn't help his cause.
However, the bigger issue here is that Dave Brandon, not the Big Ten, sets the price point. After last season—and given this year's schedule, the recent team performance, and the general admissions fiasco—raising the per-game price of student tickets was inevitably going to lead to this.

All lists of songs written as an offhand joke should be taken VERY SERIOUSLY, and definitely as an indication of my favorite songs ever, as opposed to a few tracks I thought of off the top of my head that would make me laugh if I heard them emanating from Greg Mattison's office.
Also, you're just dead wrong on Freddie Gibbs. This is not a subjective argument.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Wouldn't go that far yet.||
He's got great measurables, don't get me wrong, but calling for Michigan to offer Holloman at this juncture is premature. It's a small class, they've got bigger fish to fry at running back—Damien Harris and Mike Weber are both much more polished runners, and Michigan's at or near the top for both—and Holloman's film doesn't scream "can't miss" to me.
The straight-line speed he shows on tape is great, but he doesn't make many sharp cuts and given the competition he doesn't show a whole lot of power. Unless he improves in those areas, I think he's more of a guy Michigan would take at the end of the cycle and see if they can find a role for him, as opposed to taking him as their top option at running back. Since Michigan didn't take a back in the 2014 class, they really can't afford to take a gamble there in this class.
That said, if they fill their needs and have room for a guy like this, I'm all for putting an offer out there and seeing if he can develop; there's obviously a lot of potential here.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Yes.||
