The NFL supply the balls and don't give the teams the opportunity to doctor them. Huh!!!
|3 days 2 hours ago||Why does the NFL inspect the balls 2 1/2 hours||
before the game and then give them back the teams. Inspect an hour before or keep someone with an eye on them until they are on the field. This isn't rocket science. Has anyone tried inflating one to 13 PSI getting a feel for it and then deflating to 10.5 and seeing the differene? I seriously it's enough to change the outcome of a game that was 45-7!!!!
|3 days 3 hours ago||No, stupid waste of time, it didn't cause 45-7 blowout||
If Brady was 30-31 passing for 390 yads and six TDs and Luck was 5-20 for 139, maybe. Can't see that a pound or 2 of PSi would make enough difference to totally change the outcome. It's a waste of time to discuss, but wanted to get my .02 in.

If he wants attention, he should make a movie of his own instead of riding the coattails of the hottest movie in a long time and then deriding the premise with what his dad said.
Moore repeats his dad's sentiments that snipers are 'cowards." But he says nothing of the suicide bombers and the children and girls and women forced to carry bombs to kill american soldiers in foreign lands.
The discussion is not political from my point of view. Michael Moore is a big mouth that hates everything that celebrates patriotism and doesn't match his agenda.

recruiting advantage goes away and the playing field is evened. This may be the most sensible thing the NCAA has done in 10 years. The main reason the SEC has such an advantage is they only do 1-year schollies. 4-year schollies will take that advantage away. Heck, Saban might retire in a couple years once he sees he can't dominate any more.

Next they will put Paterno's name back on the conference Trophy. I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, he knew about the abuse and Sandusky and he let it go. If they keep this up, he'll be deified again. Just Sad what this says about the victims and the system of abuse at PSU for years

He's the one that made it a big deal "Life-changing" hints at a CHANGE. Staying in school is not CHANGE. in the Big Ten. It's pretty much a joke.. The conference as a whole sucked, but OSU was obviously great. It certainly seems like you have to cheat to win. Just can't see how one school gets so much talent while everyone else around them flounders. MSU was good, but couldn't compete, Wisconsin has the best back in the country and gets run.
We are probably 2 years or more from competing with OSU. We don't have the size, speed or talent that Urbz has built. Right now he is the Saban of the B1G. There isn't a true challenger to OSU in the conference right now. Very sad.

The perfect place to honor Michigan's best is to put the name and number in Maize along the bottom section of the suites on each side of the stadium. I think it's the perfect place for Kramer, Harmon, Woodson and Howard and the other prominent figures in Michigan football history.

|5 weeks 3 hours ago||Two things||
1. I have never seen any evidence, written, or video that Harbaugh has ever been offer the UM job before. There simply is no proof. It's all speculation.
2. If Harbaugh passes on the Michigan job this time. He will NEVER get another chance. The burn scars will last a lifetime and leadership at UM will never forget what he has put the university through.
The NFL has 4-8 openinging every season. Some better than others, every year there is at least one 'great' opportunity to step in and 'win now'. Michigan on the other hand will not come around again for him. It's now or never. So if Harbaugh really 'wants' to coach Michigan at some point, that point is now. Should make the decsion a little easier.
|5 weeks 1 day ago||where are all the great players that Beilein is bringing||

|5 weeks 1 day ago||I think Harbaugh can be as good as Urbz or maybe Saban||
but he has to come here first. Despite all the news, it's still 50/50. That's kinda scary. I just hope we have Miles in our back pocket. My optimism has dropped somewhat from 65% to 55%
|5 weeks 1 day ago||There simply is no leader on this team||
there is no 'go-to' guy. If you are going to have an outside shooting team, you have to have some inside threat to open that up. They don't really have an inside or outside threat right now. It's gonna be a long season.

|5 weeks 1 day ago||The vast majority of non-Michigan people I know||
are Sparty fans or NFL fans. The theme among them is common, Michigan has sucked for a long time and needs a great coach to turn it around, but think Harbaugh will stay in the NFL.
FWIW Michigan fans seem to think he's coming or it's 50/50; NFL fans or those within the ranks say 50/50 at best but probably staying in NFL.
Translation: None of us know squat. Jim Harbaugh has to decide with his family what is most important and best choice for him and those closest to him. A Lombardi Trophy may be the biggest draw, but it seems, based on Harbaugh's comments and actions over the years that his heart wants to be the savior of the program as Bo was and put Michigan back at the top of college football.
I think winning the Super Bowl would be easier for him to do in the right place, than winning a NC in college football, given the inequity of how the game is governed across the country.

|5 weeks 2 days ago||Great article.||
I can see JH doing all those things. What's better, I know Bo did some of those things as well. Bo was famous for making his ofense repeat the exact same play near the goal line because he didn't like the way the line blocked, he would have them run until they got it right (scoring).
God, I hpe he says yes. We need this man in charge of this football program. He will bring life back to a lifeless program. (subtlety inferred)
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Is there any truth to bit about him leaving for the NFL||

|5 weeks 3 days ago||Michigan made a huge "All-In" offer a one-timer||
There will be no negotiating on this one. It's either yes or no. If it's no, I hope the door closes for good and we never start down this road again with him. There has been too much pining, begging and pleading. I wish the numbers had never been released. I wanted JH to either say yes or no and then let the info out.
Now there's this fingerpointing at Michigan for going all Alabama to get Harbaugh and get back to winning. I just don't see Michigan sacrificing its values to win at football. Schissel says they wouldn't. I hope aside from huge money, UM doesn't turn its head just to win football games.
That being said, I want JH if he wants to come here, not just because the money is the biggest.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||If we end up Schiano or some middling coach||
I will probably be more angry at Harbaugh, even though it's displaced anger. It will be final proof that the Michigan job is just not that desirable anymore.
At this point in time, OSU is the flagship of the B1G, Michigan is a secondary afterthought as a program at this point. If we don't get a top tier coach and start winning soon, we'll disappear from the landscape.

|5 weeks 3 days ago||Cowherd says we're trying to be Alabama||
When he talks about Alabama and what a dynasty it is, it's a great thing. When Michigan wants a part of that kind of success, it's trolling for hos on a back alley.
If Harbaugh says no, we're gonna get villified in the media. So IF we have to go to Plan B, I hope that Plan B guy just owns the B1G.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||I heard Cowherd and Schefter this morning||
both seem angry about this. Cowherd is calling us the rich guy that just wants what he wants. He talked about the private jets for recruiting,no buyout, Harbaugh can leave after a year, bringing in JUCOs.
Schefter sounded just plain angry that UM made an offer that may take Harbaugh out of the the NFL. (I know he's an NFL guy). Schefter seems to be the one about spreading the private planes thing and Cowherd is pushing the JUCO thing.
The backlash is surprising from one perspective, that Michigan is giving up its pristine stance on academics to join the 'arms' race for college football success. It's like we exposed the seedy underbelly of sports by trying to get the guy we want.

|5 weeks 3 days ago||All this article really says is the author knows||
they don't really "recruit" in college. It's an opinion piece and that's fine, it leans toward the NFL and that's fine as well.
What is leaves out is validity related to a coach that may enjoy the challenge of rebuilding his alma mater and a roster that turns over 15-20% every year and prima donna millionaires are not there to tune out your message as coach.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Hackett went All-In on JH||
and now it's Jim's turn to make a play. He can say yes and everyone outside of the NFL is happy. He can say no and at least every UM fan and Hackett knows he gave it his best shot and he goes to Plan B and better get that one or we look as bad as Wisconsin.
Even though today's reality is lawyers and agents making all the decisions, I like to think Jim sits down with family and explains the options and they make the decision with everyone's input. This is more than just him, he is a family man so they are very important.
He probably hates having the numbers out there before he makes the decision, but it really comes down to college=recruitingand 24/7 football; or the NFL=coaching and some personel decisions but more time at home than in college.
We will know in about 11-13 days.

|5 weeks 3 days ago||The only owner in the NFL that would touch that||

I just don't see anyone offering up a number like that in the NFL unless they tie in the two jobs HC/GM then $8M+/yr is is more doable. But owners in the NFL are pretty stingy.
EDIT: Not that they don't spend money, but they sure seem to keep a firm grasp on what they have.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||If JH rejects THAT offer then he really doesn't want||
to ever come back to Michigan. Of course, if he was to reject it, what would Hackett do? That would be the biggest swing and miss ever.
The NFL will always be there. I think this is a now or never proposition from the Michigan side.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Many will scoff at Michigan for making such a huge offer||
Obviously Michigan doesn't want to get outbid. I'm a little uncomfortable with those numbers, but if the base is 5-6M and the major donors make up the difference, for some reason it's more palatable. It makes no sense except that we're raising the bar for the profession and you know someone in the SEC will eclipse it shortly.
I can also see Dantonio & co. mocking us for proving our "arrogance" by over-paying.

|5 weeks 3 days ago||since either the NFL side or Michigan can pay JH||
whatever he really wants, it all seems to come down to whether or not Jim Harbaugh wants to go through all the recruiting work that is required of a college coach. That seems to be the biggest difference here.
In the NFL, there is drafting, trading and free agents, but recruiting makes the college job almost 24/7 and a lot schmoozing with kids and parents. So really what would Jim H rather do? If he just wants to coach and get paid...stay in the NFL. If he wants/likes recruiting and resurrecting his alma mater, then come back to Michigan.
The suspense is killing me. My biggest fear is we don't seem to have a plan B. If Harbaugh stays in the NFL what the hell will we do then?
There were rumors yesterday of The raiders possibly moving to San Antonio and the Rams going to LA. That might help us in the decision process for Jim H.

|6 weeks 3 days ago||I watched the piece on Rich Eisen's show||
there wasn't anything earth-shattering or radically different than anything we have already heard, but Rich asked Desmond directly about JH going back to AA and he said as a coach who wouldn't weant to go back a rebuild their alma mater to what it should be. They both hinted that that is what they would prefer JH do. Since Rich is an "NFL" guy of sorts, this the first one to lean that way.
All the silence out of AA and the slealth-like way that Hackett is handling this search, gives themedia nothing so they are making shit up, like Jay Gruden and Cutcliffe.
I'm looking forward to Harbaugh and Hackett announcing the truth so all the spculation and background laughter can end.

What is his connection to anything Michigan related?
Until Harbaugh comes out and says "no" in a presser or "I will not be the next coach at Michigan", I'm believing it's possible.
Miles should be plan B and after that...threshold of Hell!
Everything else is just noise. Some of it my be spun by Michigan to get the heat off Harbaugh; some of it may be coaches trying to throw their own hat in the ring (Gruden)
I seriously doubt Michigan would offer Cutcliffe the job until after JH and Miles have said no. Since neither has done that. Brant is full of shit
|6 weeks 4 days ago||I would hope this has happened.||
If not, and Cutcliffe or other middling coach is the next step after Harbaugh, what are we doing? Les Miles is a quality coach with a high winning pct in the toughestconference in football. He's the second-best coach in the SEC.
Yes, Miles has gray-shirted a few players and is somewhat goofy, but he's a very good coach and would be a great plan B, if Harbaugh for some crazy reason says no.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||So, if Harbaugh is a no, then UM is grasping at NFL straws?||

The silence from both sides on this issue tells me they have a deal in place that will be executed once it can be legally and ethically.

If he somewhow stayed/retained, the only ones on his side would be the players and the LC loyalists.
The suites would be unsold and the staium woul 60% full. The AD can't let that happen.
|8 weeks 21 hours ago||With the collapse the last two weeks and back-to-back||
3-5 seasons in the B1G, no one this planet can make a convincing case to keep Hoke. And they shouldn't even try.
The simple fact is the stadium has to be full on home game Saturdays and it hasn't been since Minnesota.
The most painful stat of the day came early on. OSU led the nation in attendance avg 108,000+. That FACT say all you need to know about Hoke's future.
They call it the Big House for a reason. If they didn't want it filled every week, they'd call it the "Big Hole". Hoke's done no matter what.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||This looks like OSU is playing a practice squad.||
This cvould get outta hand very early. Sad that Griese says the best thing to do is keep the ball out of Gardner's hands.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||The only eventful thing over the next four days will||
be OSU's decisive victory over Michigan. Urbs needs to dominate this game to have a chance to pass TCU after their big win at Texas.
Michigan loses handily, that's it. The 'evaluation' will happen over the next few weeks and Hoke will be let go some time after Christmas, most likely around the time the 49ers wrap up their season. LEaving Hoke in place until the NFL season ends, will keepo the media off Harbaugh's back about the job and that simply enhances the acceptance of the job by Harbaugh.
Hackett needs to handle this smoothly and the only way to do this is to let the 49ers do what they are going to do with Harbaugh first.
Harbaugh will be announced as the next coach at Michigan just after the New Year. If he doesn't really want it, Les Miles will be announced as the next head coach shortly after New Years.
Michigan has to announce a big name coach as their choice or Season Tickets will take another big dip and the suites go unsold and revenue takes to big of a hit. Hackett and his successor cannot allow that to happen.
A new AD will be announced after the CoFoPo has ended. Jeff Long will be announced as the permanent AD sometime in January.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||It seems the success of an AD at Michigan is almost||
completely tied to the "right" hire of the next football coach. The last two would be considered failures on that premise alone. Hackett is most likely here to stabilize the AD and take care of the removal and hiring of the next football coach. If he get Harbaugh or Miles, and doesn't destroy the gameday experience or even make it worse than it is, everything will be OK. I hope he is here long enough to get the college football plaoff over this year and then Long can take over. And Hackett brings in Harbaugh at best and Miles at worst. Then all should be okay. Getting rid of the piped in music and lowering concession prices would be icing on the cake.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||Saying that the "per game" price for a ticket not changing||
is not the same as saying that season ticket prices did not go up. Since MSU and OSU are at home and they will designate at least one other game as "premium" there will be three games or more at $95 per ticket, The overall cost could be higher but the face value of each ticket may not change. In reality, they cannot raises proce considering the crapfest on the field this year. There is nothing to show it will be better next season at this point.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||DB poisoned the fanbase's mind so bad about the AD||
and the gameday experience, that anything associated with it must be bad. On the surface Hackett seems fine, but if the next coach is another MAC level .500 coach, then the torches and pitchforks will be in full view. That wouldn't be the way to keep or get more season ticket holders
|8 weeks 4 days ago||Maybe all this is a dual smokescreen||
Give the impression that Hackett is permanent long enuogh to get through the CoFoPo and then get Jeff Long after it's over. It keeps the media off his back so he doesn't distract from the playoff hype........And maybe keeping Hoke around until SF is done playing football is a smokescreen to keep the media dogs off Harbaugh until his season is done. All this maybe a well-orchestrated plan to keep the dogs off the trail until UM wants them to find the trail.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||My reference to the MBB program has nothing to do||
with winning and it's trendline. It has everything to do with supporting the Ath dept financially. Look that the numbers at UM or anywhere, if the football program isn't successful, then the ath dept loses money or at least isn't self-sustainable. There's no point to having a 110k seat stadium if you're going to hire a MAC level coach and go 8-4 every year. Just graduating all your players will not fill that stadium. Havin a CEO that focuses on the bottom line only won't fill that stadium either.....with today's options the average fans that buy many of the tickets can always stay home and watch the games for free (or a lot less) than going to the games, it's a trend around the country.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||That job is not just about raising cash||
There is another factor that Brandon ignored and that is the regular fanbase. They spend a lot of money toward the program too. Hackett talked about student fans being satisfied and students in general. Problem is the other 90k seats aren't students. They are working peoplel and alumni and if they don't like the atmosphere they will stop coming, especially for 7-5, 8-4 teams every year. You're not gonna sell $88,000 suites for 8-4 teams every year. And middling coaches like Hoke won't get to the conference championship or the national championship.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||This ath. dept needs a seasoned AD to run it||
The corporate atmosphere that has hung over the stadium, the gameday experience and the ath dept the lat 3 years has hurt donations and season ticket sales. No matter how you look at it, the football program and those 110k seats is the engine that drives the bus of the ath dept. If they don't get the right coach, there won't be butts in the seats and heads will roll. No matter how much Pres. Schiss wants a "balance" b/w athletics and academics, the football program is king and it is the source of the revenue. The MBB program may hold it's own but it's not funding the rest of the athletic dept. Neither is it gonna fund the $$ the ath. dept gives back to the University every year. If Hackett is permanent (don't believe it) then he better score Harbaugh or it will not go well for him or the ath dept.

with no proven track record at a high level program doesn't make us ND, we become Purdue.
This program is sliding down a razor thin rail, teetering on the edge of oblivion. Get this hire wrong and that beloved Big House we are so enamored with will be 70-75% full and that's it. The Suites go unsold and donors start to withdraw.
If all that happens, the AD whoever he is won't be the only one looking over his shoulder.
Michigan has to get this right. And right is Jim Harbaugh. Les Miles is a second option and stealing Bob Stoops or Gary Patterson is after that. Beyond that...we are Purdue. Schiano would doom this program a level of irrelevancy unlike anything ever seen in this state.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||Barrett will be throwing into single coverage down||
the sidelines all day. Receivers will be open everywhere. We'll be playing 10-yd cushions and still get beat deep. OUr secondary is by far the weakest part of the defense and the passing game is their strongest.
Our receivers get no separation on anyone. Garder would have to play the game of his life. Problem is, he did that last year and we still lost. This team is much worse than last year AND the game is at the Shoe.
There will be no miracles on Saturday. I am just praying for a real AD very soon and Jim Harbaugh at the podium explaining how he will rebuild this program.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||This team can muster only one TD against Maryland,||
10 points on NW and 20-something against Indiana and the spread is 20 points? If I were in Vegas I would bet a paycheck on OSU. With OSU needing to prove something to the committee after the Indiana game and a serious chance that they won'e be winning by much in the conference title game, this is their one chance to prove the their muscle.
I bet they go for the kill early and often and try to score 50. Our offense is so anemic and Funchess acts like he just doesn't care, I can't see this team scoring more than 17, more likely 13.
My guess is 48-13. Worse if Gardner gets hurt early.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||I agree with the article as well||
I have no issue with Hackett handling the evaluation of Hoke and the program at the end of the season. But the thought that a top tier coach may not want to come here with no permanent AD in place and a president that doesn't seem see the importance of the football program to the livelihood of the Athleticv Dept and popularity of the university.
If I thought Schissel was going to be choosing the next head coach I would be very worried. At this point, I am mildly concerned about the next AD. I hope and pray that Hackett sees that the atheltic dept and especially the football program are going "All-in" on this hire of the next football coach.
Get this one right and Michigan can return to it's former and rightful place as one of the top programs in the country. Get it wrong, go for the underachiever again, go for the non-marquee choice and this program could wither away and have to cancel the PSD program because no one will pay $2000-$4000 a season to watch mediocre Purdue-like football in a half empty stadium every week.
Hackett better be playing his cards very close to the vest and have two aces up his sleeve, one is Jim Harbaugh or Les Miles and the other is a Jeff Long or Brad Bates type AD. Someone who has made a creer out of being an AD and understands the athletic side and fan side as much as the money side.
These two hires will define this program for the next decade and beyond.

The only question is, can Hackett get Jim to say yes. IF not, Les better be coming or we are officially Purdue.

|9 weeks 16 hours ago||I haven't enjoyed watching this team play since Minnesota.||
I have wanted Hoke gone since ND and have rooted in my heart for them to win, but always in the back of my mind wanting whatever was needed for Brandon first to go and then Hoke. Now it is guaranteed.
I have watched every minute of every game this season and I will watch the OSU game. I will root for Michigan and hate OSU as I always have my entire life.
But now I feel badly for Brady Hoke for one reason only; this was his dream job and now he knows as we all have believed, that he just isn't good enough to handle it.
Brady, be classy and resign with dignity before OSU and get the players to fight for you one last time and BEAT OHIO STATE.

|9 weeks 18 hours ago||firing him now does relatively nothing||
It would satisfy those of us that know it's going to happen anyway and we don't have to question it and wait for it. But it's really a moot point now. Firing Hoke now will only force the media to start asking Harbaugh and Miles questions which we don't need.
Whether Hoke is on the sidelines next week or not, the outcome will be the same a pretty embarassing loss. What does Hoke actually bring to the game? Nuss and GM run the O and D. Hoke stands on the sidelines and claps. Having him there will get Spielman to attempt to wax poetic about what Michigan used to be and what they should be.
As much as I have railed against Hoke all season and screamed through text for him to be fired, I just want to say, thanks for trying and never throwing anyone else under the bus. And thanks for losing with enough class to not embarass the university by blaming others.
Brady, please go quietly and after the OSU game, accept responsibility for not being a good enough coach for this university and this program and tell us that your grateful for the opportunity and walk away quietly.
|9 weeks 2 days ago||If Okie State doesn't get to a bowl game and fires Gundy||
before we fire Hoke/hire Harbaugh/Miles, things could get very interesting. If they fire Gundy after a losing season and would crazily go hard after Miles to come back and save the day in Stillwater (giving him the keys to the kingdom and all the money he would want); and if we couldn;t get Harbaugh - oh NOES we would be in a pickle.......I would think we can get Harbaugh and will, but if we don't and wait until after Jan. 1 to fire Hoke, Miles could be gone and it could be another search from hell. All the more reason to give Jim H whatever he wants/needs.

|9 weeks 3 days ago||When I still had seats (gave them up after last season)||
the PSD for the season for two tickets was $875. Seats were on the 33 yard line on the visitors side, row 33. Seven home games in 2013, so the PSD per seat per game was $62.50. With three "premium games at $95 face value per seat, the average price per ticket per week was $83.57 per ticket, plu7s the $62.50 PSD per seat per game that adds up to an average total $146.07 per ticket per game or $392.14 per game, not counting parking or concessions....THAT is why I gave them up. My family had seats in that stadium since 1956.....It was such a hard decision. My seats were four seats in from the aisle and the other side of the aisle, the prices were much higher. I sat next to a doctor who had the four seats next to me toward the aisle and he was giving up his as well. The cost is just not worth.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||He lost late in 4th qtr of ND game||
When UM had 4th & 10 from ND 26 and he chose to go for it instead of kicking the FG and preserving the shutout streak. His lack of knowledge of the record and stubbornness to try to prove a point made it clear he was not the right man to lead this program. When Gardner was sacked I said "that's it! You need to be fired!"
|9 weeks 4 days ago||I think a DL coaching position would be best for him||
he is best suited as a position coach, the HC thing just seems too much for him. I would hate to see him go to EMU, that seems to be where college coaches go to die. Maybe another MAC school or back to the West Coast. I'm sure someone in the WAC or somewhere will be looking for a coach. He might be best served to take a year off and collect his thoughts and plans

|9 weeks 4 days ago||So, if Mrs. H says no to leaving the Bay ara and JH and the||
49ers part ways, then Jim has to take the Raiders job or coach H.S. football? I doubt it. Whatever Rapapport's sources are, I just can't believe that one. If Jim and the niners split, then the options are whatever team he wants in the NFL that has an opening or MIchigan.
I don't see him going to another college program. He wouldn't go to the Raiders. That is the worst place in the NFL. If Michigan is a dumpster fire, then Oakland is a forest fire with 40 mph winds and one galss of water.
It would seem that Harbaugh's style doesn't lend itself to the NFL for long stretches, may 1-2 years. He seems built for college coaching and his best destiny is Michigan (I'm only slightly biased here). If the timing and $$ are right I think Jim AND Mrs Harbaugh move to AA and restore Michigan to the glory that is only a memory now.
|9 weeks 5 days ago||AsDumpster Fires go, the UM football program||
certainly qualifies. To be ranked number one, might be reaching. I think Forde is somewhat of a self-important blowhard, but who in today's opinion over news 'journalism' isn't?
Michigan gets ranked number one because of the qualifty of the program and univeristy over its vast histtory and its tradition as a program that is usually far-removed from the negative spot light.
But, in this season crisis, mis-steps, mis-speaks, dumbass moves by the former AD and a coach that has self-admittedly been not fully aware, the combination of being a crapfest on the field enough off the field issues to make Bo roll over in his grave, Forde is generally correct.
Based on the group of five that he lists, we are more likely third rather than first, not sure how the UNC mess doesn't garner a higher ranking, but whatever. No matter how you look at it, Michigan is a dumpster fire right now and the only thing that can put it out is hiring the right AD and JIm Harbaugh as the coach. It would get the media to leave us alone and those two men, will put the house in order, get the program on the right track and return this program and family back to the unified stronghold that it was as the winningest college football program in the nation.
If the weather is bad Saturday, the negatives might continue as there could be a lot of empty seats for senior day. That wouldn't help.
|10 weeks 32 min ago||For the MIllionith time, Mrs Harbaugh has NEVER been quoted||
anywhere saying she wants to stay in the bay area. Show me proof. It was a made up reason why he took the SF job, so they wouldn't have to leave the bay area. Despondent UM fans make up reasons why things do go their way. Harbaugh most likely didn't come here last time because he was never approached by Brandon not because she didn't want to move to Michigan.
Just like why Miles didn't come here the first or second time. He was never offered the job.

It has been so long since I have felt that way and all I want is Michigan to be Michigan again!
Goddamit we need Jim Harbaugh!
|10 weeks 1 day ago||I think he might stay 7 years or more||
get the program back to an elite status, groom a successor and give a try in the NFL again, if he really had a desire to do that. I could also see him staying for 10-12 years and retire as the winningest coach in Michigan history.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||I'm guessing the Harbaugh part. The 45 days part||
is probably fairly accurate. There are several here that think that JH wouldn't leave the NFL. I can't see him staying in the NFL for the exact same reason Brandon hired Hoke. He has to be the biggest ego in the room and he can't do that in the NFL. Too many divas.
Harbaugh would have the upper hand in a college lockerroom and the kids, being somewhat naive and inexperienced at big boy life would soak up everything he says like a sponge. Especially when he starts putting multiple players into the NFL like we used to in the good old days.
Just bring him here. It will get better quickly.

Ummm, it's already there. But Schiss would have a lot to answer for if he kept Hoke and came out and said that graduation rates and changing the tide of the power that college football has over universities by de-emphasizing the results on the field would be his kiss of death to his presidency. It's an assumption based Stanford>>>SF. That's about all.......I think if Michigan handles thing correctly and behind the scenes, I think he'll be here starting early in Jan. 2015. I'd be okay with Stoops, but I would be equally okay with Miles, because he just wins the in the toughest division in the toughest conference.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||Thank you for posting this||
I have been saying for weeks that Miles should be the No. 2 choice for this program and almost everyone says MUllen is No. 2 and Miles is a last resort. Heck how can anyone deny that Miles is the second best coach in the SEC which would make him probably No. 1 or 2 in the B1G. If we don't get harbaugh, Miles should be target No. 2. Mullen is having a fgreat year, but so is his QB. That seems very directly related to Mullen's success. If MSU gets thumped by Bama this week, that will die down in a hurry......I stil think Todd Graham would be a great Tier Two choice.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||In a word...NO!||
There is too much...ummm...casual-ness with this team. No sense of urgency, no win-at-all-costs, no killer instintc. Theam emulates their boss, even keeled calmness. Football is a violent game, a passionate game one that requires raw emotion, anger, passion and attitude that borders on going over the edge on every play.
Hoke may brings a sense of tranquilty that keeps the kids 'happier', but there isn't a desire to be the BEST.
Now all that is looking at it from the outside, but they just seem flat too much of the time. This program needs a shock to it's system, a somewhat volatile personality to jump start this team. We have to get to the same emotional level that MSU and OSU get to, but in every game.
We need a personality like Jim Harbaugh. So....No. to answer your question.
|10 weeks 4 days ago||Ahhh, his opinion. I don't get the feeling he knows||
anything about what Harbaugh wants or thinks. I like his assessment of the players though, thought that was spot on. Harbaugh has always gone to his own beat. And that beat may have him steppin' into AA.
|10 weeks 5 days ago||Per usual, we will get their best performance||
of the season. Maryland isn't really good, but they shine occaionally and they make less mistakes than we do. Also their Special teams is obviously better 11-11 (what a concept). It will be more like the NW game with maybe a little more offense.. The announcement will say 103,000+ but the truth might be 95-98,000 depending on the weather.
|10 weeks 5 days ago||I appreciate his opinion and point of reference. I||
completely understand his pleas for positivity, but said it himself, even he can't explain the downward slide of the program. The main job of the coach is to graduate his players and win games. The latter is the main reason they get paid so much. No one is paying Nick Saban to graduate players.....Sometimes you have to call something exactly what it is, and this was not the right pick at the right time. Maybe after another stop or two where he learns to develop players and win with an attitude, Hoke could have been successful at a program like Michigan, but not...now.....Anything else is lipstick on a pig...it's still a pig.
|10 weeks 5 days ago||Let's just not talk about bowl games until we actually||

|10 weeks 6 days ago||Brimley, I still criticize Hoke because too many players||
are making too many mistakes over and over and over. That is coaching. If a guy can't do his job, then put someone in who will at least put in the effort. They are losing anyway so give someone a chance that WANTS to play. This team takes a lacidasical attutude to games. There is very little fight or effort in general. They may work hard in practice, so they make a great practice squad, but there is no sense of urgency. Certain individuals seem to fight hard hard some times, but not all the time. It is a proviledge to wear the winged helmet and it seems many of these players treat it like it is their right......Well, come next season things will be different and the entitlement willbe gone. Cuz if it isn't there won't be any fans showing up to watch.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||This is great, I was wondering if there was anyone||
that could actually make a logical or even common sense reason to keep him and no one can. .....I guess if the Administration came out and said "We contacted Harbaugh - he said no, Miles said no, Mullen said no, Stoops said no; Todd Graham said no, Patterson, Briles, and Mark Stoops said no. Even McElwain at CSU said no. Even Harmon at OSU said no. There is no one else so he stays." That would be the only way, but they would lose so much money on lost season tickets and empty seats every week, not mention all the suites would not be sold that any change might be better. I pray to all that is Holy that Hoke and the entire staff gets canned, cuz this is as bad at RR's first year.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Part of my rationale includes the possiblity of that||
coach coming here. I think if the right AD offers Harbaugh in the right way, he says yes. I think he wants to come here and prove that Michigan is not dead.
I also believe Miles would come here if offered and he would do very well adn fill the stadium.
I think Graham would come here and do well. The drop off after MIles is pretty huge. I don't Mullen leaves the SEC and I don't think Stoops leves Norman. Graham isn't as good of a coach as Stoops obviously, but the chances of gettig him are higher. I like Patterson a lot too, but I think he'll stay at TCU.
I just don't see many of these southern coaches wanting to come here and coach in the cold.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||MIles' ethical issues are mild compared to many in the south||
I seriously doubt he would even try to pull that grayshirt stuff here. Still Miles may be a little flaky, but his record stands for itself. Stoops is a great coach, but I think the chances of getting Miles are infinetly better than getting Stoops.
Why move from a hot bed or recruiting to the cold north where recruiting is so much tougher and the pickings are much slimmer? Until Stoops falls completely at OU like Brown did at Texas, they will do whatever it takes to keep him.
LSU is always 50/50 on Miles and I think Miles' brand of football would get butts in the seats.
Like I said earlier, unless it's Harbaugh, I WILL be disappointed.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||After the epic beating that Michigan will get in Cbus||
I can't think anyone would want to see them play again this season. After watching what Ohio State did to MSU in EL Saturday night, they should absolutely destroy and embarass Michigan. If they scored on MSU they should get at least 55 on our secondary. And there is no way our pitiful offense musters 30 on the road.
That beatdown should be the final nail and send Hoke packing.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||If Michigan is struggling to fill the Big House on||
Homecoming, what makes you think they will sell their allotted seats for a crapfest bowl game in Texas?. Did you see the shit on the field Saturday night? This team is miserable and I can't see fans selling out 75-150 for a crappy bowl game where Michigan gets trounced like last year. Much less pay for airfasre and a hotel for that mess.
They have a much better chance of selling the tickets to the whatever bowl at Ford Field than in Texas.
Either way Hoke better be fired before any bowl game announcements come out. If that joker is retained they won't be able to give away tickets next year. This program is a shell of what it once was. This is a travesty.
|10 weeks 6 days ago||Kelly went over the line, he could easily have said||

|10 weeks 6 days ago||bj, why wouldn't Les coach Michigan?||
Because he wouldn't accept the job, or because Michigan wouldn't hire him?
From everything I have read over the last 7 years (grain of salt) it has been repeatedly stated that Les would never say no to Michigan and I think he's now wearing out his welcome in Baton Rouge.
If the Lloyd Carr crowd has any say, then Miles will never get offered. But if Harbaugh says no, then Miles has to be on a very short list. The guy just wins, and he does it in the toughest division in the toughtest conference every year.
Name another coach that Saban struggles beating more than Miles?.....There isn't one. Even when Miles' teams are young and somewhat undisciplined. I think LSU lost that game due to play calling on both sides of the ball more than the head coach.
Graham is younger and more innovative, but Miles is proven in grown man football.

4. Bob Stoops (I'ds be okay with it, but he seems to lose alot of big games)
5. Gary Patterson

|10 weeks 6 days ago||I have never liked the Alternate uni thing||
It was started by Phil Knight to push Nike and get kids to go way out west Oregon.
My argument against it has always been that the best programs don't do it so why should Michigan. You never see Alabama do it, or Texas or LSU. Schools like Michigan don't need that to attract kids. The best players want to go to the best schools, mainly to get to the League, but they go because of the school, its history in the game the tradition and such.
I know kids don't follow Michigan because of Bo or Bear Bryant, but the success a school has, the Heisman trophy winners, the National Championships and yes the players thatmake the NFL have a bigger impact than chrome helmets and dayglo unis.
I think the tradition of a program like the Winged helmet at Michigan or the White and Blue at PSU or the red helmet with the number on the side mean more to kids that the glitz. Winning means more than anything.
The Maryland thing a could of years ago was atrocious and one of the MSU helmets looked more like Christmas ornaments than football helmets.
The whole thing is getting old. And....
Get off my lawn!
|11 weeks 14 hours ago||you recruit speed. Speed can't be taught. Either a player||
is fast or he isn't. You can learn to get a little faster, but being 'fast' is god given. We don't get those kind of gifts.
Look at how much better JT Barrett is now than he was against VT. What I would give for our QB to improve that much. Hell it would be nice to see any of our guys improve like the Buckeyes have.
There is just no fucking player development here. Why? LSU is so much better than they were early in the season, OSU is sooo much better ththan they were. We get worse as the year goes on. And our QB is a 5th year senior.
There is just something fundamentally wrong with this staff in practice and preparation for games. We get out schemed by lesser teams and play down to the level of those teams, but never play up to the level of the better teams
Maybe our staff simply cannot judge talent. If we have it, we destroy it, or we just don't have any.
|11 weeks 15 hours ago||Firing Hoke after OSU is a win no matter what||
They won't hire someone worse. They can't because even if Harbaugh says no, Miles would say yes and he is 5 steps up from Hoke. He develops talent during a season even. Not just over their careers.
Hoke has had four years to prove he can coach at this level and he has proven that he simply cannot. He looks lost and confused on the sidleine, says stupid things in press conferences and his teams are never "UP" for games, they always seem flat.
The defensive front 7 look good against slow teams. Against spoeed, this team will get crushed. OSU should do very bad thing s to Michigan in a couple of weeks. Heck, Maryland should next week as well.
|11 weeks 15 hours ago||The ONLY thing that would be better for Michigan is||
for Hoke to be fired the Monday after the OSU game regardless of any outcome. I don't care if this team wins the next two and a bowl game. Hoke is a terrible head coach and a bad front man for this program. He and the rest of this staff need to go. The team plays like their coach, soft. There is no defending Hoke as a coach. He can care about all the players all he wants to, I don't care about that after 4 years of mediocrity.
The head coach's main job at Michigan is to WIN! He can't do that against a team with a pulse. Beating NW 10-9 proves how bad this team is. Iowa beat NW easily last week and got slaughtered by Minnesota today. Michigan is one of the BOTTOM 5 teams in the conference in YEAR 4 of this staff. They are just plain bad.
|11 weeks 15 hours ago||I never said Nuss did anything to deserve interim||
head coach. I am saying Hoke has done nothing to deserve to remain head coach. What good is 15 more practices with these coaches. The players are not improving one bit under Hoke. Gardner is just as bad if not worse. The effort is there, but the progress is definitely not. The thought of Hoke remaining after this season is nightmarish. If he and this staff remain, it will set this program back 5-10 years.
There is no denying this team is bad and it's not all youth, it's mostly coaching and a lack of player development=coaching.
|11 weeks 18 hours ago||I'll take 6-6 ONLY if Hoke is fired within the week after OSU||
and Nuss gets interim until a permanent coach is hired. There is NO WAY on this green earth that Hoke deserves more than Dec. 1 as the head coach of this team.
|11 weeks 18 hours ago||ASide from the front seven on defense,||
this team is pitiful. The only worse than the coaching is the execution.
It's about the same as a loss. If Bacs was right about them going Hoke would stay, well, that doesn't really count as a win. More like a tie between two cripples with pillows.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||Lumen Christi won||

Quit drinking and go to bed.
Your assertions of the Interim AD are baseless. Unfortunately Hole is still the coach, but that may change in the next few weeks. (It better).
$10M is too much for Harbaugh. I'd say 6-7M is enough. If he wouldn't accept 7 then he wasn't coming anyway. Then we can get Miles for 5.5-6M
|11 weeks 1 day ago||I think Richt sounds like what DB thought he was getting when||
he hired Hoke: nice guys, honest, clean and would (hopefully) win Conference titles. I'd put him behind Miles and Mullen in SEC. Mullen might have more upside (might), but Miles is still a better choice.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||Nice guy, wins a fair amount and seems honest enough||
He wins a fair amount of the time. His teams tend to fold in the biggest games when they are a considerable favorite. If Harbaugh, Miles, Patterson and xxx aren't available, sure why not. If we can't get harbaugh or Miles, this program is headed for a longggggg hard road for the next decade
|11 weeks 2 days ago||It seems everyone on WTKA is toeing the company line||
and kinda leaning toward the status quo. There must be something in the water there. I can't put much stock in anything I hear on TKA these days. Probably because I disagree, but hey, I guy can dream can't he?
|11 weeks 2 days ago||WD - Richrod looked amazing at WVU before coming here||
I'm not saying Mullen isn't a very good coach, but I am saying is Les Miles is BETTER. He has won more at LSU and done it longer than Mullen. Mullen could be the result of a great QB, we don't know. His overall record says he's not necessarily great, but could be down the road. This prgram can't afford a "could be" coach. We need a Home run coach now before the fan base finds other things to do with their season ticket money next year.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||This team is minus (-14) in turnover margin and has been||
dominated by MSU the last two years. The PR gaffes and the "not fully aware" coach who seems clueless to what is happening around himare reason to retain him if he finishes the season strong against conference bottom feeders and an OSU team that hasn't had a quality win all year. The standards for this program have fallen to epically low levels. I beg that the Pres and Hackett take the entire body of work into account and the effect it will have on the future. They won't be able to give away the suites if Hoke is back again.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||I haven't enjoyed watching a game since the Minny loss||
This program is in shambles. There will be so many empty seats if Hoke comes back and the recruiting will suffer because coaches in their final year of a contract are either fired or extended. Imagine if he comes back and starts 4-1 or something, they might give him an extension. It would be the end of Michigan Football as we know it. I can't enjoy games now because of how badly I want Hoke gone. I can't really root hard for Michigan and I can't root against them. If OSU is gonna win, win big and put the final nail in the coffin.....There is no scenario where Hoke staying is a positive for the program. Revenues will drop, Season Ticket holders disappear and the student angst starts up again......Schissel/Hackett, please see the forest for the trees, in this case change is a good/necessary thing.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||If Hoke comes back next year, season tickets will be sold||
on the street corner. That will not unite any part of the fan base and students will not be lining up. This man is not qualified to run this program.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||No goddamit. If Jim Harbaugh doesn't want the job||
Les Miles is the best option in the SEC. 1. He'd take it. 2. He's a better recruiter than anyone but Saban in the SEC and he's better than anyone else in the SEC at beating Saban. Miles is a great coach and if Harbaugh doesn't want it, Miles WILL take it. So just stop with the crazy, any coach down south crap.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||No goddamit. If Jim Harbaugh doesn't want the job||

|11 weeks 2 days ago||Look, no one KNOWS what Harbaugh wants, and he ain't||
talking while he's coaching the 49ers. I want Harbaugh not because of the "michigan Man" bull shit, or the Bo disciple, or that his whole family is connected to this University. I want Jim Harbaugh because he flat out wins everywhere he goes and he has a "fuck you" attitude and he would take no shit from the Drew Sharp's of the world or Mark whiney Dantonio and he would love nothing more than to run up the score and go for two when the game is already won down at the Horseshoe.
Harbaugh is the guy we want and the guy we need. The only thing that matters is, does he want to come to Michigan. Jim Hackett and whoever gets hired as the permanent AD will find that out. If he wants to come back to Michigan, the Athletic Dept, Stephen J Ross and Al Glick and whatever other big donors Michigan has will find a way to satisfy his finanacial and logistical needs.
I cannot envision a scenario where the powers that be at Michigan don't sit down with Jim Harbaugh and offer him the job. It's not an interview, it's an offer.
If Michigan doesn't score the right hire this time, it will a decade before this program sniffs 10 wins. The last two hires have proven beyond all doubt that you offer the homerun the job and see if he bites and then move on if they say no.
There won't be another Brady Hoke hire, because if there is, there will be 25,000empty seats next September. Try and recruit that!
|11 weeks 3 days ago||Whew! I worried for a second that we might be looking at||
another WVU coach. Since the last one went so well.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||What in the last six weeks has given anyone the||
belief that Hoke can improve on his last four years by getting one more year?
Beating Indiana is like challenging an 80-year old woman in heels to a 40 yd dash. Indiana is pitiful. Michigan has under performed all season and has been getting worse every season since Hoke arrived. The stats don't lie, a 5th-year sr QB who has many more INTs than TDs and struggles reading defenses and an OLine that is stillmaking the same mistakes they were making in September.
Coaches are paid to win and Hoke doesn't know how to do that at this level. Yes, his players support him, mainly because they don't know any different. If you want butts in the seats and the Ath dept in the black, Hoke & Co has to go and a toip tier coach like Jim Harbaugh or Les Miles is the only solution to keep this program from going any further south.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||If we don't get a Harbaugh, mainly Jim, then we get Les Miles||
He won't say no and would love to retire from coaching at his alma mater
Harbaugh is what we need to salvage this program. All those midlevel guys like McElwain, Stitt, Hoke, Graham, they are what this uninversity and program aspire to. We don't need a guy to get us by, we need the guy to take this program back to prominence.
It's either now or never. If we don't succeed with this hire, it will be 25k empty seats for years. and 3* recruits.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||No, he is like Petrino, he is always looking||
for his next great opportunity. Graham and Petrino are Nomads. They are chasing money. Neither is quite good enough to stay in a good place long enough to succeed. Graham might have a little more upside than Petrino because he does less stupid shit, but Graham tends to bolt before getting to comfortable.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||When I picture how I'm gonna feel when the next Michigan||
coach is announced, I picture absolute jubulation if that name is Jim Harbaugh. Nothing could please me more, except winning a huge lotto drawing.
Then I think about the other top names on the list, Mullen - ehh; Patterson ok, but ehh.
If it is reported that Harbaugh turned them down or took an NFL job before we could get him, I'd be pissed, but relieved and okay if Les Miles was named the next coach. I was thrilled when all the talk was of Miles getting the job when Herbie broke the story.
If JH doesn't take it, I want Miles. That would be my second choice when I really get down to it.
We need a big splash coach and other than JH, Miles is second on that list. He coaches here for 4-5 yeears, retires and hands the keys to Cam Cameron.
If everyone makes mistakes and gets second chances, then Les Miles deserves one. He's the only guy that has a 50/50 chance at beating Saban straight up. Anyone else is 30% on their best day.

|11 weeks 3 days ago||If no Harbaughs, why wouldn't anyone want the 2nd||
winningest coach in the toughest/best conferecne in football?? Yes Les Miles needs to be in the discussion and the best part is he won't say no. for 4-5 years he would be fine.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Jim Harbaugh IS Tier 1, John Harbaugh,||
Gary Patterson and then Dan Mullen in Tier 2. Tier 3 is Tom Herman and Les Miles, anything after that is a muchroom cloud and 25k empty seats.....No settling for for third or fourth best - that's how we got here.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Why do people continue to ask the dumbest questions||
How many times do we have to go through this. The ath. Dept has made two risky hires in a row and both have turned out badly. If there is a third, this program will play in fromt of 30,000 empty seats every week. We are not in a position to take a chance on anyone. THIS MUST BE A HOMERUN. Harbaugh is the No. 1 target, if that falls through, it's the next proven winner, most likely Miles, after that it starts getting risky, Mullen, Patterson and Herman at OSU, getting very risky now.....The Sciano's of the world are just angrier versions of Hoke. No better. This program can't go 8-4 every year. If we do that, we'll be at best 3rd in our division every year. You can't sell tickets and suites based on those numbers. This is not that hard to understand.....And no, Fitzgerald, Stitt, et al are very risky. We need someone who has been there and done that. The list is very short.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Every college coach that succeeds has to have a great QB||
football, especislly in this era is built around the talent at QB. Denard was not a great QB, but a spectacular athlete that RR used to perfection asn was starting to win here despite all the holes in the defense.
OSU would be a mess if it wasn't for the natural talent of Miller and BArrett (Herman is a huge help there).
Miss. State = Prescott. I could go on and on. Jim Harbaugh could do wonders here with the QB talent we already have. If this adnministration fails again on this coaching search, it will be dark for many years at the corner of Stadium and Main.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Deception and confusion. that is the administration's play||
as well as Sam Webb. There will almost certainly has to be a new permanent AD in place by the end of the regular season or shortly thereafter. They can't go into the off-season with all this hanging in the balance. There won't be a recruit left to keep.
Hackett could very well be on staff for 9-12 months. It's called the transition phase. I think the Dartmouth and NW guy and Arizona AD are purely deceptions. Throwing the dogs off the scent. To make this work in the small timeframe they have, It has to be Long, Bates, Manual and maybe Parker (longer shot).
Bringing in Bates or Long would be a relatively easy transition, especially Long considering Arkansas' place within major college football. The sticking point is Long's position in the Playoff Committee.
Bates would be easy also. the hardest part is getting that deal done while they are under contract.
I think Sam Webb is blowing smoke in every direction to keep everyone guessing. Maybe he knows something, maybe not. My guess is he and Ira have to toe the line to keep their connections.
I say new AD in place by December 10 at the latest and Hoke possibly gone before that. Hackett can handle that job. There shouldn't be a bowl game, if there is, Nuss will be interim. Don't need Hoke for that.
Coaching choices probably 1. JH, 2. L Miles, 3. Mullen (He probably not leaving the SEC).

|11 weeks 5 days ago||Harbaugh wouldn't come here if DB was here because||
DB wouldn't contact him. When DB hired Hoke he didn't ever talk to Miles or harbaugh about the job. Brandon wanted someone that he could control and Hoke was easy. He was banking on the "Michigan Man" bullshit to carry the day and it worked for a year or so. Then we all found out that Hoke can't coach.......The more I read, the less faith I have in this going well. If the AD position will take a year to fill and if Hackett can't get Harbaugh on his own, this program will be Purdue for a olong time to come. This is the last chance to get Harbaugh, who in my opinion is exactly what this program and conference need. Harbaugh, Dantonio and Meyer fighting it out every season will help raise the level of the conference and bring it back into the national discussion. If we get a lowball AD (Ivy League or NW) we'll either keep Hoke or get another version of him. This program needs a big name and big success fast or that stadium will look like 1968 again. Hacket, go get Harbaugh now, fill the perm AD later
|11 weeks 5 days ago||Fairly or unfairly, the next AD at Michigan will be judged||
on the next head coach of the football program. That will be the initial 'canvas' he/she gets painted on. Because this program and athletic dept cannot afford to get this one wrong, the focus on this AD having the perfect mix of talent and experience is creating a heightened sense of AD awareness. DB being DB also has made many very sensitive to this hire as well. Having said that, I hope they hire a top AD that has 'big boy' AD experience and understands how vital the football program is to the entire dept and university experience. Given that criteria, I'm not sure an AD from Dartmouth or NW might get that as well as a Jeff Long, Brad Bates or the guy from Oklahoma. Yes, my agenda is to make sure we get Jim Harbaugh if he wants the job, which apparently his dad has very recently said he does. For that to happen, we need to hire and AD that will make that priority 1 and then move to all other things. Beyond that, the above driteria is key to success.

|11 weeks 6 days ago||When you come the Ivy league balance means one thing||
When you have the largest stadium in the country and play in the biggest rivalry game in college football, 'balance' means something completely different.....I posted something about this in the "win out" thread, If the thought is to go the Northwestern road and just be 'competitive' then Schissel will be shown the door before too long. In this day and age with big time economics and big time sports driving much of those economics, de-emphasizing football and sports will be the kiss of death. That stadium doesn't exist to be 'competitive'. Leaders and Best doesn't mean 'competitive. The ath dept give multi-millions of $$ to the general university every year. If the football program is merely competitive and there is a 'balance' then the university can kiss those $$ goodbye because it doesn't happen if the Athletic Dept. isn't in the black and it won't be if the football program doesn't improve significantly. FIRE Hoke & Co. and hire Harbaugh! Stop screwing around. Stanford has a great balance and their academics are at least if not better than Michigan's.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Maybe the president is not fully aware that the athletic Program||
at Michigan actually donates money to the general University every year. in the multi-millions of $$ neighborhood. That can't happen if the ath. dept isn't in the black and THAT doesn't happen if the football program isn't winning. The football program is the wheels, engine and driver of the bus that makes this ath. dept go. MBB does contribute, but let's face it, without the Big House being full and Michigan being more than just 'competitive' in football, many 'wheels' grind to a halt. This program hasn't been competitive for the last seven years and the university has been in melt down mode for months. Donors on both sides of the ledger are withholding funds because the dept and the program are in shambles......So to be cruel, NO, if this team wins out, fire them all anyway. If Hoke is still here next fall you'll be able to pick your seat in that empty big house and all games will be on BTN.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Sam Webb's thoughts this morning that Pres Schissel||
has visions of a more 'balanced' University, where athletics doesn't play such a prominent role and we become for example more Northwestern-like made me want to drive off the road. The idea that Michigan is looking at Joe Phillips as a candidate for AD being some of that thought process is disturbing. Sam used the word 'competitive' over and over again. Of course he said that was his impression. Whether he has inside info or not I don't know, but the thought that we would be willing to settle for being simply competitive is ludicrious. If the pres is planning to force that agenda, he won't be here very long. .....This seems to be our one chance to get the coach we need to get back to relevancy and getting back to the national stage, the next AD has to hit a home run with the next coach and that seems to be Jim Harbaugh. It may be myopic, but he seems to have everything we need. Very driven, ability to turn around a program in short order and a chip on his shoulder to not take a back seat to anyone. This program needs all that. (Sorry about one long paragraph, my browser at work won't create a new paragraph)
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Winning out would be scary||
While beating Ohio State would be awesome. The thought of this staff coming back next year makes me physically ill. IMO, Hoke & Co. will NEVER come close to getting in the National Championship picture. We need a fresh start with a coach who is fully aware and has a chip on his shoulder and he's not it
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Donors are the key to the additonal $$||
The university can pay a base salary and donors make up the necessary difference and maybe after a couple nat'l titles they can pay off his mortgage. I've heard that has happened before.

|12 weeks 3 hours ago||Not to pee in anyone's corn flakes, but||
the expectations have obviously dropped so far that we take a win over a sub-mediocre, horrible team, worse than ours team and call it progess. Devin still throws horrible passes in the arms of the defense and into double coverage that even confounds the announcers.
A median Michigan team should crush that hapless Indiana squad 55-6.
Regardless if we get to a bowl game or not, this staff has to go. T hey are inept and devoid of the ability to develop talent. Don't let the firing of Brandon and a win over a cripple in a pillow fight cloud your judgement and memory.
Not trying to steal anyone's joy over the win. I'm happy the kids get to feel the joy of a win, but this staff has no clue how to coach in a game against competition with a pulse.
|12 weeks 1 day ago||Desmond is not that out of touch, DB is a friend of his||
Desmond said that during the discussion. He is going to protect DB's character. The results on the field arepart ofhe problem. DB's PR disasters and inabilty to connect with the fanbase is was his ultimate undoing. How hated would DB be if the team was 7-1? I think he would be tolerated at best.
Desmond is part of the former player base that protects what is in Schembechler hall. Being part of that family is rallying around whoever is in charge. The only way to unite all parts of this dfistant family is get an AD that does AD work, not so much PR and lets the football program be the football program.
The key to thast last part is getting the RIGHT coach. One with a strong personality and will push the kids, teach the kids and put Michigan back on the map where they belong. We need a coach that wants to own MSU, OSU and the make the Big House the toughest place to play in the country.
Once that happens, everything will fall into place and the family comes back together like it was under Bo.
