|27 weeks 4 days ago||Wife is making me attend a costume required Halloween party||
So I leveraged that into a new Jordan coaches hat, coaches sweatshirt and a pair of Walmart khakis.
For reference I'm 6'1'', 200 lbs.
The shirt, an XL, fits pretty true to size. It's maybe a touch small.
Hat was large. Depending on brand I wear from a 7 1/8 to 7 3/8. I ordered on the larger end because I didn't want it to be too small. It was huge. I sent it back and went for the 7 1/8. I'm worried it might be a little big, but wool shrinks, so it should work.
Finish of both products was nice. the interior of the sweatshirt has a good feel and texture to it. They seem like they will last; at least, I hope they will.
Bonus: Houses on base all have flag pole mounts off the front porches. Wife said she got sick of seeing all the OSU and ND flags and bought me a new Michigan flag to display. I think I'll keep her.
Edit: I tried to buy the above items from MDen, but they were out of everything. Went to http://www.collegefootballstore.com/. They had everything in stock.

I thought I remeber folks saying Nebraska would be ranked better if the medical school was factored into the total research dollars. For some reason it's not, so they don't qualify for the AAU.
|32 weeks 4 days ago||I don't disagree with either of those points.||
But I don't believe you can truly have both without divorcing universities and pay-to-play sports. Sports are supposed to be the supplement to academics to create a well rounded Renaissance man. As soon as you pay for one but not the other, you elevate athletics over academics.
I think we do need a minor league system for basketball and football. But as long as schools are the de facto minor leagues for those sports the focus should remain on academics. And the only way I see that happening is to maintain some semblance of amateurism. I also believe a university fails (and many do; looking at you UNC) when it elevates athletic achievement over academic credibility.
|32 weeks 4 days ago||I am also against paying players.||
We are now seeing the fruits of that line of thinking come to bear. I get that there is a ton of money involved in the whole enterprise, and concede athletes should get full cost reimbursement. Even more, I wouldn't be apposed to a small stipend that is equal to 16 hrs a week of working in the campus book store, or the like.
But once you start outright payment, based on value, or allow majoring in a sport, the whole academic mission of universities comes into question. No one can play a sport as long as one can use a real education. Emphasizing education is what the mission should be, and what I hope is the focus going forward.

|36 weeks 3 days ago||I often use a hotel service.||
When I have a morning flight out, I find it's cheaper to stay the night in a hotel and park for free, than pay for parking. You get good shuttle service, your car isn't in a dark parking garage and you don't have to scramble to the airport the morning of your flight.
I've found a trip over 5 days in duration to be the average break even point between a night's hotel bill and airport parking.

Can buy at Lowes. At the same price point, it is better than the Weber IMO. For instance, in the $300-500 range, Weber will give you cast aluminum end caps on a steel enameled firebox. Broil King gives you a full Cast Aluminum firebox for $100 less.
Having a full aluminum firebox was really important to me, and the Broil King just seemed a better value. Webers are great quality, but not great value.

I live oversees, and see them on a regular basis. A decent size truck that can pull the type of stuff that I need hauled and is decent on MPGs, yes please. I want the inline 5 diesel, Four door, 4x4.
It pisses me off to no end that Ford negleted to update the Ranger in any significant way for 15+ years, them blamed consumer taste for the plummetting sales. Then they release a Ranger, with a diesel no less, but you can't buy it in North America. I think they are worried about cannibalizing F-150 sales and that might cause the F-Series to not be the largest selling line of trucks. I wish they would just rebrand it the F-100 (a historic badge) and then they could clame it as part of F-Series sales.
It also sucks that there is a 25% chicken tax if I wanted to buy one over here and then bring it home when we return to the States

Scruffy was commenting on Ron_Lippitt's use of a possesive determiner with the gerund. After researching what that was, I surmised we was pointing out the use of "daring" as a gerund. To use the possessive noun (pronoun in this case), would one use your as the possessive of you, instead of you're (you are)?
Or did I just totaly miss this and he was citing a different example.
|1 year 39 weeks ago||And possessive is misspelled.||
Still, I did appreciated the grammar lesson. Not one I remember from my public school education. It will we noted and utilized.
Edit: Now I'm confused. He wrote, "And if you're slightly daring." Shouldn't it be: And if your slightly daring. If your is the possessive of you, that would be correct, right?

To be clear, I don't like the trophy
It is borderline pandering/misguided and a non sequitur as it pertains to both teams and football in general.
Just because it pays tribute to those in the armed forces does not make it jingoistic. Jingoism has a negative connotation because it asserts war mongering or over aggression, which is not the majority attitude of most service members I know.
There are plenty of reasons to mock this trophy I just didn't like the implication that honoring the troops (as misguided as I think it is in this case) is jingoism.
Edit: Not that it matters, but just for the record: I didn't neg you. I don't neg folks I simply disagee with; I save that mostly for trolls/asshats. Still, I think you and Seth are stretching the meaning of the word.

I get that the trophy is as contrived as the "rivalry" game it is attached to. Still, do you have to use the pejorative "jingotastic" just because it has an American flag? I thought the description was pretty out of touch, especially on Veteran's Day.

I doubt it will affect civility, but I wish people would remember why we are fans in the first place. In college football, it's more than record, coach, or geography. It's about supporting young men who, while talented, trod the same ground and student experience many of us have. They embody a love for the game that isn't rooted in the almighty dollar.
When fans lose sight of what is important I hope they are punished/corrected. It's not about fan/student/alum expectations. It's about proudly representing a student body and their state/supporters. It's about showcasing the ability to be a modern Renaissance man, and showcasing the ability of society and universities to still produce these kind of well rounded citizens.

Still, DG locks onto receivers and hold the ball far too long. At times, he actually had decent pass protection Saturday. He would stare holes through his 1st read and be sacked by the time he thought of making his progression.
I don't say this to dog on DG. In my view, I don't expect much out of QB that has as few starts as he does. With a bit more experience and just a slight uptick in performance from the O-line, I think we'd all like the product/performance Borges/DG can put together. He has a great knack for the deep ball (which Borges loves) and can punish teams that overplay pass protection.
I'm not a huge fan or hater of Borges, but I think his real worth will only be evident after next year.

Cause that would be cool.
|3 years 27 weeks ago||This is a reply to you and most on this board||
We do not have the talent. We do have one all-american, one good end, and then: doom. I don't want to be the guy to beat the RichRod dead horse, but let us not forget the horrible recruiting he did on the O line, or on the entire roster for that matter. For every starter RR recruited we have two "doesn't play here anymore's." Additionally, he recruited one OL in one of his years (2010?). Brady Hoke is not only rebuilding a program, but is digging out of the greatest craters ever created at Michigan.
As for the general complaining about the play calling. Was it great: no. But you people have played way to much Madden/NCAA for your own good. We have a weak OL, a QB that can succumb to idiotic turn overs on a moments notice, and a kicker who has been pretty solid this year. Many act like we should be gunslinging down the field with reckless abondandment instead of releying on easier than average kick from and above average kicker. We cry about how many TOs this team gives up and then turn on the coaches when they do something showing an aversion to TOs.
/uninspiring rant off

I used it last week on the recommendation of someone on the live blog, so it's new to me. It worked great, and the quality was fantastic, but I don't really know how it works or how to find the stream address(es) for different channels,
It seems like the addresses change all the time. The link he gave last week, for BTN, still works, but that's not going to help me this week.

I work with the AF's base ops and air traffic folks, and we're always in the same squadron as weather. I have found the AF weather models to be some of the most accurate, and always love getting the inside scoop on the forecast. It was especially nice while I was stationed in tornado alley; they were always the best at predicting when the big thunderstorms would pop-up.

This year she had another son for me (Thursday), so I guess that's a good Father's Day present, too. It has been an amazing week to be a father in our house. Now, if we can just get a little sleep, lol.
And I was fortunate enought to be at the game in the OP. I grew up around a bunch of Spartan fans and one was kind enough to take me to the game because they knew I was a huge Michigan fan. Some MSU fans are gracious.

I went to see Dontrelle Willis pitch while I was stationed in Florida. He pitched 8 and 1/3 innings of shutout ball with an 8 run lead. Then the bullpen came in and lost the game 9 to 8. The venue sucked, it was empty, and the fans were terrible.

.420 in 1911, .409 in 1912, and amazingly again in 1922 with .401. Migs is good, but saying he is better, I don't know about that.

the old system made me lurk for a long time to get a feel for the place before I just jumped in. Now there is no real consequence for just signing up and posting crap. It gave this place a unique self regulated culture found nowhere else.

|4 years 18 weeks ago||Old Code is still there||
Open the video you want. then select "Share." Then select "embed."
Below the imbed code are four boxes to check for different options. one of them is "Use old embed code."
Select that, and then copy and paste the code. Follow the instructions posted above to time stamp it.
|4 years 18 weeks ago||Embed Help||
1.) Use the "old embed code". Copy and paste after switching to "plain text editor".
It will look like this:
<Embed><object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JFhT0wFa8B8?hl=en_US&version=3&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JFhT0wFa8B8?hl=en_US&version=3&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
2.) Add the point you want in seconds (Min*60 + sec) after the URL and typing "&start=" (example above was 157)
New code looks like this (bolded):
<Embed><object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JFhT0wFa8B8?hl=en_US&version=3&start=157"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JFhT0wFa8B8?hl=en_US&version=3&start=157" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
