Kent Lee Platte/@MathBomb on twitter has his RAS metric

Cornelius Johnson scored a 9.42 which ranks as 185 out of 3188 WRs from 1988-2024.

Xavier Worthy, for what its worth, was a 9.41

Could have had a national championship ring with it too, his loss there. Go Blue!

I saw it with my son the…

I saw it with my son the past fall.
We bought a youth football at the start of the season that was labeled for his grade.
Took it to practice one week and noticed it was slightly larger than the ball provided by the team.

He could throw the ball we bought pretty well, but he got an extra few yards and a tighter spiral out of the smaller "official" ball provided by the team.

My reading of it is each…

My reading of it is each team is allowed to choose the size/weight/inflation of the football they would like to use for the game, provided they fall within the legal parameters.

The home team is tasked with supplying the footballs for the game (probably an old rule) but must notify the away team of the size/weight/inflation of the football they are providing so that the away team has the opportunity to provide their own if they do not like the size/weight/inflation.

It seems it is pretty common place now for teams to travel with and use their own footballs.
My assumption is that hasn't always been the case and the part about notifying dates back to whenever it was more common to share footballs.

I'm sure there is a football historian on here that has an actual answer based in facts, though.

I don't know if one game's worth of snap counts can necessarily indicate playing time for next year.
It certainly didn't indicate playing time for the very next game...

National Championship snap count:
R. Moore: 67
K. Sabb: 61
M. Paige: 27
Q. Johnson: 0

All the shit talking from Finebaum, Valenti, and everyone else was strangely cathartic for me. Living out of state, and not really ever watching ESPN, I missed a lot of it. I was aware there were "personalities" talking; I watch Pat McAfee from time to time, and I listen to the Joel Klatt show...so I was aware, but I didn't hear a lot of it as it happened.
Having the benefit of knowing how the season turned out, and now listening to the cut up of everyone talking in this video...that sure put a smile on my face :)

Knowing is reverence for Bo,…

Knowing the reverence he has for Bo, I don't think it would be shocking if he had a thought of wanting to be AD at some point.
With his stance on players getting a cut of TV revenue, working in the athletic department could be an avenue toward trying to make that a reality.

he definitely does not a…

he definitely does not a freaking time machine to go back and change the results of the 2013 Super Bowl.

That is interesting to think about.

How much different are these past 3 post-seasons if Harbaugh is already a Super Bowl winning head coach?

I thought they made Hartline OC prior to the 23/24 season.

https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/football/coaches/2023-24
He is listed as OC on their website.

I guess hes getting kicked back down to only WR coach..

I don't know if this will be…

I don't know if this will be any better or not.

I found the picture Alejandro Zuniga shared on twitter, ran it though Lightroom's "super resolution" feature, then did a super quick delete of the B1G Noon Saturday logo.

The file size is too large for uploading to MGoBlog

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/cwg7446kglpfry47n6lak/Louvre.png?rlkey=5d8soqs3gs39wvcfewgodneku&dl=0

That should work, but I don't ever use dropbox, so I might have some permission wrong on it if you can't download it.

It looks like it is the same…

It looks like it is the same picture, the one in the original post looks like it is just cropped to remove the B1G Noon Saturday logo.

His introductory video will…

His introductory hype-video will end saying
"If you're scared your coach is leaving...come play for 'bama...I just got here!"

It sounds like it was just…

It sounds like it was just fake names submitted to get more statues, because on-air talent that can be up for an individual award aren't eligible to receive a statue if a show they are on wins.

So, if Desmond Howard was up for "best analyst on a preview show" or something (I don't know emmy awards) and College Gameday won for "Best preview show" Des wouldn't be able to receive a statue for the College Gameday win.
So, ESPN submitted a fake name to get an extra statue, and then re-engraved it for the people that weren't eligible for the statue.

Holy crap, typing that all out makes it so, so stupid. (Or I completely mis-understood and I'm the one that is stupid...50/50 shot there)

Now, that said, if football…

Now, that said, if football is going to go this route (flag for younger kids) the game is going to HAVE TO figure out a way for younger kids who aren’t the throwing and catching type to have a place in that game. As it stands now, there is a serious inclusion issue there that is going to have a long term impact on interest from kids who aren’t going to excel in the way that the flag/7on7 game is played.

Padded flag might be the solution.
In my area, that is one of the options for younger kids.

Full pads, flag football. No tackling.
7v7. 3 linemen, 1 QB, the other 3 can be any combination of WR/TE/HB.

That?

I've always heard there is…

I've always heard there is no such thing as a stupid question.

Hooooo boy, this post certainly challenges that assertion.

I think he means, based on…

I think he means, based on scheme, less of an opportunity for QBs and WRs to put up crazy stats.

Jayden Daniels, for example, threw for 3800 yards on 327 attempts
JJ threw for 2600 on 287 attempts.

Personally, I think that comes with a pretty huge caveat, JJ missed nearly 2 full games by sitting out 4th quarters of blow outs...I didn't watch LSU enough this year to know if the same is true for Daniels...or other quarterbacks with significantly more attempts and/or yards than JJ.

If everyone gets an extra…

If everyone gets an extra year of eligibility from the covid year, and he has 2019 as a redshirt year

Wouldn't that give him his redshirt senior + covid year left to play?

2019 - redshirt

2020 - covid

2021 - redshirt fresh

2022 - redshirt soph

2023 - redshirt junior

2024 - redshirt senior

2025 - eligible because of covid year

I could be way off, but the post I replied to had a question as to how/why Leon has (per his announcement) 2 years of eligibility remaining...this is the way that makes sense to me.

His MGoBlue profile lists…

His MGoBlue profile lists him as a sophomore in 2020.
https://mgoblue.com/sports/football/roster/leon-franklin/24344

Admittedly, I have no idea how it works for walk-ons, but presumably if he enrolled in 2019 and didn't play, that could be his "redshirt" year. 2020 is the covid year, and then he played '21, '22, '23
So he has 2 years left?

Either way, best of luck to the guy.
Gets to walk away with a degree and three B1G championship rings...not too shabby

The CrunchLabs version from Mark Rober looks good too. Though we haven't tried it and the intended age range says 8-12.

If you're Dante Moore or any…

"If you're Dante Moore or any other QB or WR, think about going to a school where a QB who is in the 1st round discussion threw it 37 times in a game."

Same thing if we're just going to take from one game.
