|7 hours 44 min ago||About the only thing I would criticize DD for||
Over the last few years is failing to better shore up the bullpen. The bullpen has hurt us for years. In his defense they are also the hardest thing to predict year over year. But that to me is why we should have spent more every year to add another high quality late inning guy. You can't have enough depth there.
I agree that the Fister trade seems odd but I am willing to wait and see how Krol and Ray turn out. The Gonzalez trade was a rare brain fart made out of desperation so I'll let that one slide.
|1 day 3 hours ago||Consistently made the playoffs?||
Leyland was a career .500 manager who made the playoffs 8 of his 22 seasons. Sounds pretty average to me
|1 day 5 hours ago||That assumes we take no guards in 2015||
Which isn't happening.
|1 day 6 hours ago||I'd expect JB to say that until it's clear Hatch can't play and||
We need the scholly. But it seems pretty unrealistic to think Hatch ever plays meaningful at UM.
|1 day 7 hours ago||Well I am officially baffled||
Why take both MAAR and Dawkins? Gotta think this does not bode well for landing two guards in 2015 which means only 1 of the Jalens, Ahrens, Davis and McQuade. I know some people don't like to bank schollys and our staff has hit recently with late offers but I don't think getting both of these players is a good strategy.
Unless this means we don't have a very good shot at landing more than one of our top guard/wing prospects in 2015, and if that is the case why are doing worse with top prospects than we were prior to our on court success?
|1 day 7 hours ago||Ugghhh. That is an even worse scenario IMO||
Dawkins and MAAR are totally redundant and that likely means don't take both Jalens.
And So much for the recruiting bump from our recent B1G and tourney success. It seems like the rankings profiles of our recruiting classes are going down rather than up.
|1 day 8 hours ago||Meh||
MAAR was the last guy I wanted from the guards we were in on in this late period but obviously we have a staff that people can say "trust the staff" and it actually means something. That being said I will be surprised if this kid even matches Spikes production.
|1 day 8 hours ago||Ummm ok, but Mitch was a 4/5 star guy that every top program||
Wanted. MAAR is a 2/3 star guy with no major offers besides Michigan. I don't think your analogy works
|1 day 9 hours ago||How is getting a 2/3 star with a couple mid major offers||
Even remotely something to brag about? I'm frankly pretty meh on the kid and wanted 3-4 other targets instead but this staff has earned the benefit of the doubt.
I just hope this doesn't turn into another Max over Nance type situation
|2 days 49 min ago||I call bullshit||
Unless you were a fan in the 50's and 60's you have always been watching a good to great Michigan team up until about a decade ago. Winning matters. Always has and always will
|2 days 1 hour ago||Dave is that you?||
God I hate when people question other people's fandom. There are a million reasons why people do or do not buy tickets. Who are you to pass judgment?
Give me a break.
|2 days 1 hour ago||Blah blah blah||
Seriously who gives a shit? The season is 4 months away and Hoke never says anything of substance in the first place.
|2 days 6 hours ago||Not true||
Carlton Bragg, Henri Ellison, Diamond Stone and Stephen Zimmerman have all been pursued by the staff with the first 2 being better possibilities than the later 2.
|3 days 43 min ago||Except that we do know what his family has been saying||
They've been telling him to transfer for years. His sister tweeted about it, Jon said it himself and now his brother is weighing in. I frankly wish we never heard from any of them as they sound like scorned lovers
|3 days 13 hours ago||I hope not||
We are in on some studs in 2015 and taking both would leave is unbalanced class wise and in terms of having too many similar type players.
My choices in order of preference would be Shayok > Dawkins > MAAR.
Hopefully we get the one that fits the program the best
|3 days 13 hours ago||Dawkins >>> MAAR||
Dawkins seems like the better athlete with more upside and potentially a better fit.
|4 days 11 hours ago||I was wondering the same||
Maybe he just wants to leave the nest?
|5 days 3 hours ago||Well that makes me wonder why||
Not just announce he is coming back then? Maybe he is truly torn on what to do? Or maybe he is still assessing whether his back will be good enough to show well in predraft camps?
|5 days 4 hours ago||So what is next for McGary before the draft deadline?||
Is he allowed to workout for teams or play in any predraft camps? What happens between and April 27th?
|5 days 8 hours ago||I've thought all along that Mitch was the most important||
potential returnee for next year's success so it is great we still have hope there. I'm trying not to get too excited in case Mitch goes too, but with a healthy Mitch we are firmly in contention for another B1G title. Without Mitch it will be a struggle to beat the better teams in the conference.
|5 days 13 hours ago||Weird that he would not be going to Stanford||
unless he just wants to get away from his dad for a bit.
|6 days 2 hours ago||Sigh||
I knew this was coming. 2013 was so bad that fans will accept any level of improvement no matter how incrimental and we are already looking forward to 2015.
People will be more than happy with 8-4 and it all makes me want to scream.
|6 days 4 hours ago||You expect to win the B1G by 3 games and go to the Elite 8||
Without Nik Mitch and Glenn? I'll have what ur smoking
|6 days 4 hours ago||If all 3 go||
We are middle of the pack in the B1G and a buble team. Our ceiling is prob the Sweet 16. We are going to get destroyed down low
|6 days 5 hours ago||Hmmmm. Lots of unknowns for 2015 and late 2014 guys||
I was hoping our on court success would have lead to more 2015 recruiting success, but nothing so far.
Lets hope JB and the staff can win some recruiting battles in the next few months. They've done great so far, but recruiting is a what have you done for me lately business and any lull can hurt the program for multiple years.
|6 days 13 hours ago||If "ifs and buts were candy and nuts..."||
we can play the what-off game all day long, but the facts are that Hoke is 1-2 against Staee, 1-2 against Ohio, 1-2 in Bowl Games, has 2 straight seasons of 5 losses or more and our 2 biggest rivals have been kicking our ass for years, with no sign of slowing down. We haven't won the B1G in 10 years and for most of that time its been a pretty shitty conference outside Sparty and Ohio.
If you don't think the negativity is warranted then you might need to take off the maize colored glasses.
|1 week 12 hours ago||Unfortunately I have to agree||
I don't see us winning any of the rivalry road games and we are probably good for at least one random loss that should have been a win. What would really suck about that is some people would be happy with 8-4 because it was an "improvement" over prior years.
|1 week 12 hours ago||Can we also shake our heads at the people who thought||
He should be a TE too? Because he hasn't done very well at that position either.
|1 week 2 days ago||While both reports might not be true at the moment||
I would not be surprised if both reports proved true in a week or so
|1 week 2 days ago||Max transferring would not shock me||
He has been buried on the depth chart since he got here and that likely wasn't going to change much. He just wasn't big or skilled enough to play big minutes here.
Horford on the other hand, has played big minutes and was going to get even more minutes next year so I really don't get that one. Methinks there are too many people whispering in his ear.
