because I still refuse to click a Freep link.
|8 hours 11 min ago||The only thing I might fault JB for is||
saying publically that Caris was cleared and that the decision to play was on Caris. That may have been true but it kind of set Caris up for criticism (ala Derrick Rose with the Bulls a couple years ago).
I get that JB is probably frustrated that he does not have Caris available and that he keeps getting questions about it, but he probably should have just stuck with the answer that he was not going to be on the floor until he was "ready" or something similarly vague.
|8 hours 15 min ago||Agree on Elliott being a major blow||
both him and Henderson were top 100 players at positions of big need. Thankfully we have this class to mitigate the damage a bit.

to the outcomes, no.
|3 days 8 hours ago||Its too bad because||
I thought he did a great job of breaking down players despite not being a high school recruiting guy.
|4 days 21 min ago||What is ridiculous||
is you continuing to write things that aren't true and the fact that your reasons for optimism are two poorly rated big men that are currently young seniors in high school and a guy who can't crack the rotation in the middle of his sophomore year despite a massive need at his position.
|4 days 32 min ago||Neither of whom is even remotely||
athletic or ready to contribute next year or maybe even the year beyond.
|4 days 39 min ago||Things that losers say for $100||
Give me a break. We are now blaming bad luck? Every program has luck, good and bad. Sparty lost Swanigan to Purdue in a weird, late commitment flip, but it hasn't stopped them from getting a top five class this year. They've also had their share of injuries and just keep on making final fours.
|4 days 51 min ago||Well they have 1 open sppt now||
(which for some reason was not used on Max). This means they are currently one over the alotment. There was talk in the past of Davis going to prep school which I think might be the best posible resolution. Barring that, there will have to be some form of attrition with a couple obvious candidates for transfers due to a lack of playing time.
|4 days 7 hours ago||Dead wrong||
Teske and Davis are rated #148 and 175, Wilson was rated # 123 and Wagner was rated 115th.
Davis' rankings are NOT sky rocketing, he plays suspect competition and will need a load of time to develop. Just look at Wilson and Mo this year if you think Teske and Davis will step in right away and solve any problems.
|4 days 7 hours ago||top big men?||
Teske and Davis are rated 145 and 178 and look to be projects who will take considerable time to develop. Hell, Donnal was rated #84 and needed two and a half years to even be useful.
|4 days 8 hours ago||Top 100 big men?||
Donnal is the only player at the 5 that fits that description. Maybe you could included Chatman at the four but he was obviously way overrated and pretty much a bust.
|4 days 8 hours ago||This sums up my concerns exactly||
I frankly had no problem with the on-court results last year because of the injuries and losing all of the NBA talent. But this year and the next couple years are far more worrisome.
Due to the repeated recruiting failures over the last few years, I don't see much improvement coming anytime soon. Maybe some people are fine with just being a bubble team most years, but I expect more out of the program now that we have great facilities and a recent track record of some on-court success.
|4 days 9 hours ago||Good question||
seems like a possible Caris clone. Let's hope that's the case becasue we badly need a talent upgrade on this team.
|4 days 12 hours ago||Great point and I totally||
Great point and I totally agree. The game against Sparty felt like watching that RR game against Wisconsin where we had zero chance of stopping them. Unfortunately, like RR this is a problem that took years to make with recruiting failure after recruiting failure which means that it will take years to fix and I don't see this staff recruiting well enough going forward to fix it.

|6 days 5 hours ago||6?!? What about Wisconsin,||
6?!? What about Wisconsin, Arizona, OSU, Florida, Uconn, Louisville, etc, etc. way more than 6 consistently good programs. We are decidedly mediocre again after a fluke run in 2013-14.

What total fucking BS. Might as well close the hoops program then.

|6 days 7 hours ago||Wow. So many ridiculous||
Wow. So many ridiculous excuses here I don't know where to begin. All good programs lose kids early to the NBA. Who is responsible for those recruiting misses and who built this roster that you say had .500 talent? That is all on JB and his staff
|6 days 7 hours ago||I think JB basically has||
I think JB basically has lifetime tenure barring multiple years of no tourney appearances because the admin doesn't expect much from hoops program. The warning signs were there 2-3 years ago when we had recruiting failure after recruiting failure despite appearing in the NC game. JB and the staff chocked away a golden opportunity to land talent.
|6 days 8 hours ago||So tired of this ridiculous||
So tired of this ridiculous excuse. How did we get six NBA players in just 2 recruiting classes then?
