I'm sure Irvin will get some minutes at the 3, but he is not starting there.  And frankly, I'd rather give a few more minutes to seniors in Morgan and Horford even if that means that Caris, Nik and Irvin get a few less. This team will have no problem scoring so I'd rather have Morgan and Horford in there for defense and rebounding.

Mitch at the 4 and Glen at the 3 is the way to go for most of the matchups we will face in the B1G.  Maybe in the NCAA they will go more with Glen at the 4 and Mitch at the 5 if that's what the matchup dictates, but I don't think that will be our base lineup

The Wings are in absolutely no position to trade anything of value for a rental player.  They simply aren't cup contenders at this point as the last three play-offs have confirmed.  I'd rather them be sellers than buyers at this point.  White, Carlo, Sammy, Bert, Cleary, Franzen, Filpula,and  Miller should all be on the trading block to get as many picks or prospects as we can get.  Even though they are all not likely worth much, any long term assets are better than what those guys provide in the short term. 

Of course someone will bring up the Kings last year, rabble rabble, but anyone who knows and watches hockey will get that this team is not lst years Kings and not capable of getting past the 2nd round.

Kenny needs to put this team in the best position possible for a quick rebuild, otherwise we are looking forward to a Pistons-like decade of decline. 

So I don't think he overhypes it all the time. I'm sure there is some pro B1G sugar coating going on at times, but this seems more like legit praise.

If Denard wants to support non-reveunue sport athletes then all he has to do is donate his portion of the royalties to a scholarship fund.  He should have the choice whether to do that or spend it on Pizza House or extra shoe laces or what ever he wants. 

Why should Delany and others have total control over where to direct the royalies gained from using Denard's likeness?

On the one hand, the ammount of time and energy needed to police these things seems like a waste.   On the other hand, the last thing teenage recruits need is more attention and sucking up. 

Each B1G school takes in tens of millions more now than it did just 10 years ago because of BTN.  I realize a lot of that money is being pumped into new facilities, but does it have to be?  Do we really need a state of that art rowing facility to have a rowing program?

Smote played soft at times and apparently did not have the best attitude but he was a big body that could score and he would have provided experience depth which is sorely lacking on this team.

Unfortunately he decided to bail rather than tough it out. We might be better off down the road but I can't help but think he would have had an impact

There was a mountain of circumstantial evidence against Paterno before the Freeh report ever came out. 

How about the fact that Paterno's top assistant had a 20 year history of sexually abusing children and that for at least 5-10 years he was brazen enough to use PSU facilities for this conduct?  That alone is enough to sully Paterno in my mind. 

But then we know that McQuery at the very least told Paterno that Sandusky was naked in the shower with the kid and Paterno did at most the bare minnimum in reporting it and clearly never did anything to follow up or ban Sandusky from football facilities.  Again, that fact alone is enough to indict Paterno in my book.

Beyond all that it simply stretchs credulity to think that Paterno never suspected his top assistant, whom he likely spent dozens of hours per week with was a serial pedophile when there were rumors and incidents all around. 

The Paterno family wants to try this like a court case and poke holes in the Freeh report because its much easier to do that then it is to respond to these simple truths.  Their response is almost as sickening as the underlying offenses.

when was the last time we played a quality OOC opponent on the road?  I'm not sure I will be all that broken up about no longer playing at UConn or Utah.

And people have mentioned Jabril Peppers and Parker Westphalia a lot but I'm not sure if we lead for any of them. The thing that concerns me is that most of our offers so far are for guys outside of The Midwest. This will be a very tough recruiting year IMO. Hoke and the staff better be rested and ready.

Washington, SF, and even Seattle have shown that even in the pros a big and mobile QB can be deadly in an offense that incorporates that mobility into a strong passing offense. Gardner seems exactly like the type of big bodied, strong arm, speedy QB needed to run such an offense.

I'm sorry, but excuses don't really cut it in big time football these days. If we lose Poggi and Green goes elsewhere we will have only a couple top 100 recruits under most of the rankings (Scout seems like an outlier) which is far behind the top programs. Hell even PSU has 3 top 100 guys and they are a tire fire.

Depth is great but at some point you need difference makers. Just rewatch the South Carolina game if you don't agree.

On the staff that was capable of taking over as HC, particularly when he knew for awhile he wanted to retire. Harbaugh would have been a no brainier as a QB coach or a coordinator but Lloyd did not want him.

Oh what might have been the last five or six years otherwise. Sure Harbaugh may have left for the pros, but we would have avoided a lot of heartache in the interim.

Of course that works in our favor as well, as there is plenty of time for Hoke and Co. to make their pitch.  Bottom line is that the recruiting war starts over every year and our coaches have to stay at the top of their game because Meyer and Ohio currently own the B1G until someone knocks them off their perch. 

Dawson has been under the radar because he came to football late. That could explain the lack of "big time offers" though I think his offer list isn't too shabby.

as a replacement for Stauskus who looked totally ratteld on offense and a liabilty on Defense.  Other than that minor complaint though, I am not too worried about this loss.  They weren't going undefeated and they almost won despite all of their starters having a bad day. 

My hope is they learn from this and use that lesson to win a couple tough road games (i.e. at Minny, MSU, IU and Illinois).  Do that and we will be fine as no one is winning this conference with less than 4 losses. 

I think winning at Ohio and MSU will be just about as tough as winning at IU or Minny.  So I tend to just look at who gets to avoid playing the tough road games.

For example, Minnesota gets a huge break in not having to play us in Ann Arbor.  And Ohio does not have to play at Minny.  In my mind, that means those 2 teams have the easiest schedules amongst the contenders.

Of course, that is a very simple way to look at it.  For any real in depth analysis you probably have to look at Kenpom or RPI, but I think my simplistic view identifies the glaring inequities for Minnesota and Ohio.
