The Columbus Dispatch is already helping with damage control by cropping the OSU shirt out of the mug shot. That will help.
Edit: ESPN also has the cropped image, so maybe the double birds is too offensive.
|1 week 6 days ago||I agree 100 percent. I think||
I agree 100 percent. I think people get this backwards a lot. Whatever it is in someone's heart that makes them capable of hitting a woman/abusing their kids, etc. is the problem. Substance abuse is a symptom and possibly a trigger, but not the problem. It's fun to laugh at OSU, but I really hope Oden and Sullinger get help.

Every time we start talkin bout boxin, some white guy got to pull Rocky Marciano out they ass!!
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Thank you.||
I think the band adiministration response to the Midnight Ramp sums up their attitude toward the "problem". Their solution to band members getting alcohol poisoning is to send band staff to supervise??!! Give me a break.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||And he can't just fire||
Well, now he doesn't have a job, so what would have been worse? Also, I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of perfectly capable musicians that would love to be in that band.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Yeah, obviously child abuse||
Yeah, obviously child abuse is much worse than hazing college students but it was the first thing that came to mind. Glad you got the gist of what I was trying to say instead of focusing on that!
|2 weeks 2 days ago||The "cleaning things up"||
The "cleaning things up" argument has no credibility when you look at the facts. Waters has been the director for two years and been with OSU for almost 20 years including his time as a student. I'm sure he could have had a list of things that needed changed/stopped on day one as new director. Showing "progress" is BS. That would be like saying I used to beat my kids every day, but now I only beat them every other day, and in a year or two I won't be beating them at all.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Maybe Steven A. Smith could||
Maybe Steven A. Smith could defend Waters. Marching band members need to make sure they aren't asking for it after all.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Never thought of that Ace.||
Never thought of that Ace. How does the buzz around player X decommitting start then? Does it just get stirred up from questions reporters would naturally have after visits/camps or does it usually come from the player's family or HS coaches? I don't follow this part of recruiting very closely. I appreciate your insight.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||I don't mean to make fun of||
I don't mean to make fun of you, and I'm sure it's my adolescent sense of humor, but I've always heard verbal and never "orally commit" before. That sounds dirty.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||I would agree Ace, but we all||
I would agree Ace, but we all know coaches don't stop trying to flip these guys. It would be nice for the system to help a kid that really wants to be left alone after his decision. There are athletes that use the system to their advantage to hold a spot they like while they look at better options too. I guess it's a problem I wish I had coming out of HS!

Someone needs to create a celebrity Twitter style site that has some kind of disclaimer that you can do and say anything about anyone else that has an account. Then celebrities and the rich could talk whatever BS they want about each other and face no repercussions. The site could also charge normal people that are obsessed with celebrities a fee to see what they are saying. There's my million dollar idea.

I hope he goes completely off the rails, gets fired, and comes to coach at OHIO (yes, that OHIO) with Solich. That would be incredible.
|3 weeks 21 hours ago||I think it would depend on||
I think it would depend on your job duties. You can't really have someone toking up for their medical issues and then running heavy equipment or the like.
I personally don't think it matters if they legalize pot. Like guns, the problem with drugs isn't the substance itself. It's the people who want to abuse it and use it for the wrong purpose.

Best of luck to Mr. Scott. OSU also lost out on OH ATH/LB/RB Jerome Baker, who committed to Florida. He was 78% to OSU on 247. Local radio already spinning that Urban will flip him by signing day. Friday rules!!

Thanks for posting this. Can't wait to see what Peppers and the rest of the team can do this fall. Bonnie Bernstein singing Baby Got Back makes me smile too.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||I stand corrected. You'll||
I stand corrected. You'll have to excuse me because that was created by Ted Strickland in 2007 after I graduated and I haven't even begun to think about college for my daughters. I have never heard of this system and bet 95% of people on the street haven't either. Sounds like some type of political BS to me, not to get political or anything.
Edit: I bet this was done when Ohio decided they wanted to include technical colleges in their "guaranteed" rate for Ohio state 529 plans to lower the average annual tuition at state "colleges".
|8 weeks 6 days ago||Alternatively, What?||
There is no University System of Ohio. OU has branch campuses with Athens being the "flagship". Akron, Bowling Green and others have branches as well. This isn't SUNY @ Buffalo, etc. We aren't that organized around here.

OH-IO is a stupid chant. Any Ohio University grad knows it's supposed to be O-H-I-O, repeated with increasing speed and ending with an OOOOOOOOH!!
|8 weeks 6 days ago||I think you are mistaken.||
I have lived in central Ohio my entire life and do not recall OSU using "THE" until their copywright dispute with Ohio University. OU "won" (OSU agreed to drop their challenge) the use of "OHIO" on their athletic gear, etc and I believe OSU started using "THE" as a dig at OU. (I was going to link an article about the dispute, but I can't link anything lately. Anyone else having this problem?)
Edit: when I say using "THE", I mean in the media, MNF intros, etc. I'm sure they use it on official school letterhead and whatnot.

I had to upvote you for your username. Pulaski does not generally get enough recognition for his work during the revolution. I wanted to name my son Casimir if I'd had one (two girls though).

"Basically telling him to hit the road isn't helping him." I'd say this is assuming that the NCAA is forcing players out of school with their year ban. I'd say it's Mitch's injury along with his age and and the suspension that is forcing his hand. If he was a year younger or older or if he had played this year, would the year ban really matter? That was my point. Edit: I guess you could be arguing that the NCAA should look at the suspensions on a case by case basis. I think this would open a Pandora's Box of unequal punishment (see Cam Newton).
|16 weeks 5 days ago||I have two words for you.||
I have two words for you. Plausible deniability. So, I guess I'm not smarter than that. I don't think anybody is above breaking the rules. I hope and think that our administrators and coaches wouldn't do such a thing but nothing surprises me anymore. Edit: This is just a general lack of faith in humanity, not me passing judgement on the program because of recent events or anything.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||I have a CDL and get tested||
I have a CDL and get tested randomly by the state. I guess my union could probably try to get it reduced to just a suspension for a positive test, but the testing process isn't negotiated. They are more worried about getting the number of comp time hours you can carry increased. Priorities and all.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||Those tests were administered||
Those tests were administered by Michigan right? I'm sure nobody in the athletic department would give a star player a heads up that they might be on the list to get tested. I'm not saying Mitch is lying, but passing 8 tests administered by someone with a vested interest in the test being passed doesn't really prove anything in my mind.
