He was the narrator for "In Search Of" back when I was a kid. I used to love that show.

I'm getting less caught up in the stars with our new coaching staff. If they like the film, I think this staff sees talent they can develop even if it isn't obvious to the recruiting sites. I also went through 247's projected first rounders (I know, projected) and I'm amazed how many 3* and juco guys there are. I guess I'm just saying that I understand your concern, but try not to think of all 3* guys as projects.

I honestly feel bad for the kid and hope there is a way Baylor and the NCAA can work this out to get him back on the team. I also think the NCAA has a lot of stupid regulations and is generally worthless. That being said, if you replaced the "close family friend" that helped him get an apartment in the story with "booster", would everyone still be outraged with the NCAA's decision?
The biggest problem I see with the story is that the NCAA selectively enforces their rules. They come down on a homeless player for accepting housing and look the other way when other rules get broken (Cam Newton's dad comes to mind).

The background of the visor tab should be clear or maize with a blue Adidas logo. That would look pretty good and not break up the wings on the helmet as much.

This guy should be their mascot and color analyst for all broadcasts.

I worked at a restaurant with a guy who never did laundry. He bought clothes at the Salvation Army, wore them until they could stand on their own, and then bought more.
|1 week 5 days ago||I have no problem with them||
I have no problem with them giving him a medical hardship if the injury is legit. But if his injury is legit, why was he playing in their last game? And yes, it's much better to ask a kid to leave the game than to let/force him to endanger himself.

I hate to link to the OSU page, but they should have a hard time arguing with it at least. Reeves had one tackle. The other player's name slips my mind, but I know he was listed in the participation report. I guess I can't say for certain they played "significant" time, but if Reeves really has post concussion syndrome, any time is dangerous.
|1 week 5 days ago||I guess we are saying the||
I guess we are saying the same thing. We are not currently over 85. Chances are, several players leave before we get any grad trasfers, so we should never be over 85. Whether you want to call what OSU does "oversigning" or not, they have more than 85 scholarships committed right now. We do not. That is my point.
|1 week 5 days ago||Yeah, but 2 of the players||
Yeah, but 2 of the players getting "medical hardships" played significant time in the championship game. Not really sure how that happens. It's not just about getting to 85, it's about how the coach makes the math work.
|1 week 5 days ago||The difference is you are at||
The difference is you are at 88 NOW. We could end up over 85 this summer or some players could leave before these grad transfers even happen. Not really the same thing at all.

Have you read any of the articles on this? I find it hard to believe that you could keep arguing that this is just some sort of mix up if you have the facts. This was a fairly complex scheme involving several levels of authority, not just some kids "accidentally" landing on the team. The plagiarism comparison is completely off base.

I have had a no Twitter policy up to now. I think that may have to change.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||The parents falsified||
The parents falsified documents provided to the league. Even if the kids had no idea that it was wrong (which I find very hard to believe), their parents are responsible for the cheating as well as the coaches and administrators. I feel bad for the kids if they really didn't know what was going on, but it isn't fair to say they should keep their title that was won with other leagues' players.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||The Illinois District 4||
The Illinois District 4 administrator, Michael A. Kelley, was in on the illegal boundary changes, so the larger Little League body was not aware of it last year. Kelley was put into his position just before last season and had a long history with the Jackie Robinson West team. This was a very elaborate plan to cheat that was carried out by parents, coaches, and league administrators. This is a pretty detailed article outlining exactly how it was done.

They are in a no win situation of their own creation if Weber asks for his release. You either grant it and tacitly admit you screwed him over or make a kid that doesn't want to be there stay on your team until he can transfer. I'm sorry Weber has to go through this but I'm really enjoying OSU looking like dirtballs.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||How sad does it make the||
How sad does it make the Bears look if that's true? I would think an NFL team would have a longer interview process than contacting a guy for the very first time Wednesday and hiring him on Thursday. Of course, it is the Bears so . . .
|3 weeks 3 days ago||I agree from a journalistic||
I agree from a journalistic perspective. However, it would destroy the Buckeye excuse that they didn't know Drayton was leaving until Wednesday or Thursday, which I think is the bigger deal for future recruiting and credibility.
Edit: You're too quick for me EastCoast

Yahoo sports broke that story IIRC. The only even remotely unbiased local media outlet is the student run Lantern paper. Pretty much all the rest drink the OSU koolaid.

Who is @TonyPaul1984? This wouldn't shock me at all. I do feel bad for Weber though.
Also, the most shocking thing to me about the Roquan Smith story is that LA beat writers supposedly sat on the story about their DC leaving for 3 weeks! How much did the "bag men" have to pay those reporters to keep their yaps shut?

|3 weeks 4 days ago||So, in the rare instance that||
So, in the rare instance that a team couldn't clear the scholarships, who gets to decide which recruits get their LOI's pulled? It seems pretty shady to petition the conference after the fact. Couldn't the coach just boot the lowest rated guys before they've even stepped foot on campus? This either shows complete disregard for these kids or that this policy is really a joke and that schools will be given free reign to clear space by any means necessary.

Thanks so much for sharing Karan's story. I'm not ashamed to say I teared up a little at the end. I will take great pride in rooting for Karan during his Michigan career. Sounds like he really has his head and heart in the right place. Thanks to you and everyone like you that do your best to help raise up quality young men and women through athletics.

Tom VH posted in the live thread that he was told yesterday that 3:45 was the time. Maybe the kid isn't changing his mind, the time is just being reported incorrectly.
Edit: that's 3:45 ET, or 2:45 where he is.

I might have misunderstood this in another thread, but isn't Coach Partridge's hire supposed to give us a chance at Gary and Walker for next year? How sweet would it be to flip Weber back this year and flip Walker next?!

It seems to me that the sports "industry" has become as much about hype and off field product as putting an actual product on the field. The more recruits that have signed before signing day, the less hype you can generate about said signing day. I don't really think the NCAA or recruiting services would want to give up all the publicity to help out a few recruits. I don't feel too bad for the coaches either because I think most are still trying to flip guys right up to signing day. Great if you are the flipper. Sucks to be the one flipped against.

Great news! A welcome addition both in talent and experience. What's the timetable for grad transfers? Anyone have any info on the punter that might transfer from Weber State?

Should I be embarrassed that the first thing I thought of when I saw this post was Downton Abbey? I blame my wife, yeah that's it, that's the ticket.
