Looking forward to the recaps next week Ace. That's an adorable picture but which of those kids is Peters?

I think if you look across various standards and testing organizations you will find "cheap" helmets that test just as well as the high end models. I don't know how well those tests are designed, but results are results. I think it's a bad assumption that more expensive equals safer. Also, I've been street riding over 20 years and probably haven't spent 3 grand total on riding gear in that time. My gear might not look great but it's quality stuff.

I think of this every time I see your avatar. I wouldn't change it.

HJC makes helmets that test just as well as the high priced models. I got a CL-17 that is DOT and SNELL approved for about $150. You can spend as little as 30 to 40 bucks. Like my dad always says though, if you have a 50 dollar head, buy a 50 dollar helmet.

That seems pretty steep. Shoei makes good helmets but not that good. I'd love to have a winged helmet for my bike but Ohio drivers would run me off the road and I'm cheap. I'd go with this and get some goggles.

Let's not get too down about this. I thought preseason lists don't mean anything! Was Cardale Jones on last year's list (sorry, but he's a good example)? Anything can happen with Harbaugh!

I probably enjoy a good OT thread as much as anybody, but this announcement is greatly welcomed. BRING ON THE GAMES!!

More history for you. Robert Kaleski (first generation Polish-Australian) helped develop the Australian cattle dog and wrote the breed standard. Midnight Oil used to put on a good show too. I saw them at WOMAD too many years ago with Peter Gabriel and a bunch of bands I didn't know.

It still makes me a little crazy that I had to learn about Lafayette in American history but Pulaski and Kosciuszko were never mentioned. A lot of things make me crazy though.

Don't take this as a defense of DB or staee in any way. I saw Minnesota play at Ohio U in 2003 when they had Marion Barber III and Minny finished the year with a bowl win and 10-3 record. I'm just saying quirky scheduling happens sometimes.

My dad was in Florence last year and was appalled by how many people were going through the museums taking selfies beside famous works of art and then moving on to the next, not even stopping to appreciate the masterpieces they were visiting. Very self-absorbed.

I'd say hockey gets a pass more because the average person doesn't know the name Patrick Kane than any racial element. Kobe Bryant and Ben Roethlisberger (white BTW) are much more famous. But what do I know.

I've seen that build before. Godzilla needs to hit the gym for arm day though.

I've always loved the sound of the Superhawks and TL1000s. I have a sporty for its day litre boxer (see above), does that count? I'm really close to the Triple Nickel here in Ohio. I've ridden the Dragon and I'd personally rather ride our back roads around here and not have to fight the crowds! Enjoy your ride!

Depends on what kind of bike she got you! That's funny. I understand your position completely. The only time I've felt really scared in traffic was riding through Boston. Too bad that you couldn't share your love of riding with your sons but I'm sure you all enjoy the cultural and other advantages of living in NYC.

Sounds like a nice ride. Don't feel bad for having the smaller engine. I'd much rather push myself through a twisty corner than go crazy fast in a straight line (though that's still fun every now and then). I wish we could get some of the small displacement European and Asian 2 strokes here in the States.

This is my R100. I wish I had a more scenic pic, but it's the only one of either bike I have on my phone.

Hey that's not fair! I have two daughters under 6 and still manage to put 5 to 10 thousand miles a year on my bikes. I don't get to ride for "fun" much anymore, but I have a really nice commute. Plus I save a lot on gas compared to my truck. It's a win/win.

She's barely broken in! I'm lucky not to have far to travel for really nice rides. One of the benefits of living in SE Ohio's Hocking Hills (Road & Track does comparisons in the area fairly regularly).

My dad has a 900 Monster with Termignoni racing exhaust that I've ridden a few times. Fun bike.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||My largest vehicle ever||
My largest vehicle ever driven is an International tandem dump similar to this. What it lacks in cornering, it makes up for in the ablility to make people get the hell out of your way. I also ride a 1983 BMW R100CS (sitting in the lot at work now) and a 1999 Suzuki DR350.

|4 weeks 5 days ago||I live in SE Ohio and have||
I live in SE Ohio and have seen, and frankly live next to, the kind of people that many of you are describing in this thread. I've seen documentaries by grad students in my Geography of Appalachia class that give a lot of insight into why people in this area live the way we do. I've come to this conclusion. We have enough programs in place to help people who really want help. There are a lot of people who have figured out a way to use these systems to live comfortable lives. There are many people who are happy with a lifestyle that many of us do not and will never understand. I try not to judge people or their situations unless I know them because there are so many different reasons they are the way they are. Not everyone has the same expectations and goals in life, and that's ok.
