Some of the venerable are…

Some of the venerable are gone or being repurposed (Angelo’s, Cottage Inn, Prickly Pear, Middle Kingdom, Full Moon, Mongolian, Ann Arbor Brewery) but the food scene is more diverse and as exciting as ever.

Hot take.  I was just having this conversation with my daughter (a senior at Michigan) that AA right now might have the best bar/restaurant scene  — perhaps in its history.  I’ll miss Cottage Inn and Angelo’s to be sure.  And I know it doesn’t get much love, but back in the day, Maude’s was my favorite restaurant in AA.  But overall, the kids have an amazing situation, though more expensive comparatively than when I was a student.

Just curious.  Has the blog ever considered reordering the MGoBoard posts by latest post/replies?  A lot of times, super fun/active threads get buried quickly and it can be a pain to find them.

Great job, everyone.  Love this place.

I’ll take “Catch These Men”…

I’ll take “Catch The Semen” for a 100, Alex.

I thought everyone agree we…

I thought everyone agreed we’re **cheaterzz” forever (and ever) and that whenever we beat them from now until forever — we cheated.

“Jim…..Coach…..you and I were in school together.  Same year.  I’m sure you don’t recall but we had a psych class together. You were barely there, but we all knew who you were. We all knew the greatness to come.  As one who shares with you the experience of 1980’s Michigan. Of Bo Schembechler, and shanties in the Diag, and Shakey Jake wearing a fur coat in May, I implore you — stay where you’re loved. Where your greatness was born.  Where you belong.  We still need you. And everything in life is just a little bit better with you in Ann Arbor…”

I feel this with such…

I feel this with such authenticity.  I’ll be looking at this book, turning it over in my hands, forever.

I was in section 535 and stayed late. Past the trophy ceremony.  The stadium was still buzzing, and as we walked down the ramps to get to the exits, I’m not sure what came over me, but I yelled at the top of my lungs, “WHOSE GOT IT BETTER THAN US ??!!”

I think 700 people yelled back to me, “NOOOOOBODY !!!!!”  It felt like we were all a single entity.  And really, we were.  We have been all season.

The memory of this championship, this season, and that moment will stay with me even past my own death

It was for me last night.  I got there scrolling through 11W.  Didn't make it past the second post...

Not even ashamed ......this time.

Listened to that whole…

Listened to that whole podcast.  Sam/Devin couldn't hold it together they were laughing so hard on the absolute beautifully unpredictable cluster that is Semaj.  That Harbaugh puts him out there sends a message to the entire recruiting universe that Michigan wants dawgs playing for championships on this team.  The Hoke, gentile Michigan Man days are absolutely over.

Jesus, dude. Relax. Nobody’s pulling you into anything.  Nobody’s “poisoning” you. And you certainly don’t have to engage a conversation you find so offensive. Downvote me and move on.

Maybe go outside and feel some grass.

You're 100% correct, RGard. …

You're 100% correct, RGard.  My “worthless psych degree” comments were pure hyperbole. Truth is — my Michigan degree has catapulted my career in so many ways, I can scarcely articulate them all in a reply on this board. Thank you for that clarification.

And it goes without saying — thank you for your service, sir.

We're at the point of the season where I actually prefer #2 to #1 for simply the guarantee of NOT playing OSU again.  If somehow they miracle "back their way" in, it would for sure be at #4.  Let UGA handle them...

Watching the full-on melt down happening on 11W as the slow realization of how the real world works is nothing short of hilarious.

Hope you enjoyed your month of circle jerking yourselves, mouth breathers.

Don't want to hijack the…

Don't want to hijack the string, but there's no way a 1-loss Michigan gets into the CFP.

The unbeatens get in first: UGA, FSU, Wash; leaving one spot for Texas, Oregon, Bama.  This is where the sign-stealing scandal bites us.  We will be given ZERO credit for SoS, and unless we demolish ohio, we are last to be considered amongst the other more "noble" programs who aren't mired in scandal.

It's truly "win or go home" from here on out.

Bash them senseless.

Bash them senseless.

I know we have a Ferrari QB who barely came out of the garage last week. But the idea of running it down their complainin’, whorry, HPV painted throats the whole game, and just watching the light go out of their eyes as they recognize this game plan from ‘21/‘22, and they realize there’s nothing they can do.  It just is justice.  And would be incredibly satisfying.

Then I wanna see Harbaugh cross the field for the postgame handshake and whisper, “Cry more, Third Base…”

All I wanna know is — when…

All I wanna know is — when we leave the B1G, can James Earle Jones record a new entrance video for us?

”This… is Michigan.  We are the best university in the world. Students athletes and professors achieving to the highest level. This is our legacy and our future. We are proud “former” members of that fetid, hollow shill, the Big 10 Conference, in pursuit of national championships…”

I wanna pound these guys, badly.  Not because I have venom of Frankin or PSU, but because I want to watch a full-on panic in Columbus for what awaits them in three weeks.

So if we could win like 45-10 or something like that, I'd be appreciative.

Ok. So help an idiot out. …

Ok. So help an idiot out.  They cracked our code and shared our signs with everyone. Got it.  But to my understanding, that’s not illegal, right?  The Stalions shit IS against conference rules.  So I’m hoping there’s a smoking gun yet to be released which more than balances the narrative that Michigan is singular in its illegal cheating efforts.  Am I being too hopeful?

Six racks of maple-glazed, apple wood smoked St. Louis cut spare ribs.  With a homeade Memphis style sweet BBQ sauce that wrecked a thanksgiving a while back because no one ate my brother's shitty turkey.

I understand this reference (I'm a huge European futbol fan).  And let me just say, I wanted to murder those people, and the venue promoters who thought those things were a good idea...

God d*mn, this is brilliant…

God d*mn, this is brilliant.  I'm literally taking notes.  Question if I may: You make a solid point on the Tate Toughguy point, with them not getting the joke.  Do I regress and move forward with my original plan of just going with the maize "Worst State Ever" t-shirt?  I resisted that because it seemed too easy.  You know, not tough enough.

I hope PSU obliterates them…

I hope PSU obliterates them into little buckeye giblets.  Then I hope PSU sweeps the giblets into a pile and invites their Michigan friends to take a dump on the pile.  Then I hope we pour gasoline on that smelly, scat-stained pile and light the whole thing on fire while the PSU folks look on in shocked horror.  Then I hope we put out the fire by urinating on it after having drank an impossible amount of Bells Two Hearted.

Guess I'm saying that I want PSU to win.

It’s been suuuuper cool seeing the Lions fanbase at our away games.  That stadium yesterday was filled with Honolulu Blue, and they stayed after the final whistle.

This could have been written every year for the last 50 years.

Fair.  But every year for the last 50 we weren’t legitimately expecting to win a National Championship.  We don’t win a natty without JJ or Corum or a few others.

Wait. Is this even a possibility?  JJ returning?  I’ve been assuming from the jump this was our last season with the kid.

If it’s true they’ve sat on this since March, then other heads need to roll inside this sex abuse factory of a University.  There is NO EFFING WAY I’d send one of my daughters to this place…

LOve my YTTV, but when combined with a soundbar (we have Sonos) I've had to deal with audio sync issues -- especially on live TV.  Super annoying, and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.  Not sure where to start.

Disagree with USC.  They are my dark horse to win it all.

Clearly the AP feels you might be correct!

Top 5 look correct to me …

Top 5 look correct to me (though I could make an argument for UGA getting every first-place vote).

Next five seem shaky to me.  IMO, Both Clemson and FSU look tougher than USC.  PSU is the big question mark.  Drew Allar looks like a legit threat in B1G.  I can't wait to see what he does on the road at Illinois on 9/16.

B1G is loaded this year.  Anyone getting through this gauntlet should be (mostly) ready for the playoffs.  Injuries could determine everything.

Holy crap, Mtzlblk.  Kinda brilliant.

Thank you for chiming in and sharing your own experience with BM.  You’re so spot on with everything you wrote — particularly the incorrect notion that 70,000 burners are tech startup douchers.  It’s such a lazy take that you effectively dispelled.  Almost everyone I meet at the burn is authentic and committed to the 10 Principles, and just genuinely nice people.

Steve Martin reference? Steve Martin reference?
Burning Man had become…

Burning Man had become strongly associated with silicon Valley. Do any of those tech executives reflect on the contrast between their vast hordes of wealth, and the thousands of destitute people living in the city they've taken over?

The association to Silicon Valley is a cultural one.  There's definitely alignment between the "10 Principles of Burning Man (https://burningman.org/about/10-principles/) and the entrepreneurialism, free-thinking encouraged at tech startups.

But respectfully, don't confuse Elon Musk's attendance with some incorrect notion that 70,000 burners are all rich, tech guys from the Bay Area.  The vast VAST majority of folks who attend Burning Man are legit artists, creatives, and people of modest means who use the week for self-expression, and to just be amongst other people like themselves for a few days.

Yeah.  Everything you wrote…

Yeah.  Everything you wrote is true.  Prep is a HUGE commitment of time and resources.  That being said, there's a saying at Burning Man:  "The Playa Provides" which is to say, people tend to get whatever they might need when they're inside the gates.
